We stopped here to eat after seeing the parking lot full for 2 nights in a row - big mistake! The food was not good and expensive!! A 12" pizza was $26, the Marsala sauce was more garlic than anything else, spaghetti and meatball sauce was almost clear and tasted horrible. For those of you who are staying away from Geraldo's because of poor reviews you are making a big mistake. We, 5 of us, all had a very pleasant surprise tonight. With one exception, the lasagna, shrimp Alfredo, Flatbread appetizer, mozzarella sticks (the sauce is incredible) are excellent. The exception to the quality of the whole dinner being the lettuce in the salad bar. Someone should be monitoring it closely. The lettuce was not fresh at the bottom of the bowl. The margarita was very good. Our service was excellent. I'm not a professional reviewer, I seldom eat out and expect better than my home cooking when I do go out. We got that tonight. Went here couple weeks ago. I ordered shrimp scampi, my husband ordered some steak with their special sauce. First, my shrimp scampi was over priced with 5-6 pieces of 21-30 shrimp, I had to pay $3 additional for the pasta, the scampi and the side of roasted zucchini was like toooooo garlicky, the first bite you take is straight up garlic. Not to mention very small portion. With all the garlic they put they didn't even give me a garlic bread. My husband's steak and the Geraldo's special sauce, was also made with garlic. Tried this place because we were craving Italian food. We called it in and the order was on time and I believe it was Teresa who had it all together for us. Very cute inside with a fireplace in the middle and a darling bar. Got back to our hotel and enjoyed chicken Alfredo and lasagna with garlic bread. Very tasty garlic bread!! I've been a regular for 20+ years. Not so much for the last 5 or so. The menu and service can vary wildly. Among the constants: Pizza good (minor exceptions); spaghetti and meatballs bad; Lasagna ... meh. Tonight I ordered the Cajun Alfredo (with clams) which I've only recently discovered is/was fantastic. Not so much the last time and definitely "off" this time. Still, not bad. But I have a BIG problem with being lied to and/or ignored. I notice things... When a party that comes in long after I've put my order in gets their soup only a minute or so after I do (after complaining), you're lying telling me it's coming. You never turned in the order and then told the kitchen to rush it. And it's not as good as it used to be. I have a rule of thumb (which I almost never abide by) if you are dying of thirst and your drink and water glasses are empty - the waiter deserves no tip if not a complaint to management. (I know the management, but I really don't like dumping on a waiter who probably thinks he's doing a good job with a lot of balls in the air.) But... I'm seated where every server/seater in the place walks right by me every minute or so. I'm invisible. The crotchety old lady they have seating people makes the rounds with a pitcher of water and tops everyone off. Finished up about 6' away from me. No water for me. She did, apparently, threaten to kill an obnoxious brat that was running all over the place whose parents couldn't be bothered to control. That was nice. So beware. I always try to eat there early so to not take up space from their dinner crowd (don't want to tempt the waiter/waitress that the lone guy doesn't matter), but the dinner crowd (from Wedgewood) flooded in early which is why I got stuck by the kitchen & bar doors. I used to eat there a couple times a week - all year long. They'll just have to make up my business from the tourists. (Who I notice aren't generally very happy with Geraldo's.) Oh! The cheese steak is pretty good - as long as you're not expecting a cheese steak... I was horrified at first, but it grows on you - me anyway. And the garlic... I've never been overwhelmed, but there is only one time in my life I've encountered "too much garlic". A home cook piled it on an easy 1/4" thick on a halibut filet. So just a point of reference for you garlic lovers. I hardly notice it. read more

We just got back from Geraldo's and I couldn't believe when my husband ordered a ribeye steak and got Instant Potatoes!I I ordered a Cheesesteak and it was loaded with garlic, it was not good. The service was excellent and the ambience definitely old school. The food however, was not good. The margherita pizza was all garlic and very dry. I'm not sure they even put cheese on it. Had dinner here yesterday with the family. Started off bad from the start. Took 10 minutes for anyone to even come to the table to ask for drinks. It took another forty-five minutes to get our food. They missed our order of spaghetti and meatballs. After fifteen minutes it came out when we almost finished with our meal. The server was great and it was obviously an issue in the kitchen. Our group had the Lasagna, spaghetti, manicotti Alfredo pasta and pizza. Except for the pizza which was excellent all the other dishes were overwhelmed by garlic you couldn't eat it. I got the halibut Florentine. It was good but not something id order again. It seemed like there was no taste to it. For the price of this pasta it should of been a larger portion. Also with my husband's order, he got the chicken parm. Chicken was small and plate seemed like it was sitting for a while. The chicken was small. Bread came out with entrees. Bread was cold on top of that we waited an hour for our food. It was a Friday night but a good waitor would of changed our experience. He was not attentive and seemed very stressed. Had an amazing server and the food was deliciousss. They even made a separate dish for my grandpa who has a garlic sensitivity.

Heard this was a good restaurant so a group of five of us popped in for dinner. Out of the five of us, one rated the food as a 2 and the other four of us gave it a one. And quite frankly, that was only because the waiter was great. Food was not fresh and seemed like it had been poached and sitting around for a while. I ordered the pollo parmigiana and when I received my plate, there was a ring of melted butter all the way around the plate. Now I am not a big Olive Garden fan but their food would rate a five if compared to this place. My recommendation, save your money. If you want a good Italian meal you will be much happier with something from the frozen foods section at the local Safeway or Fred Meyer stores. read more

There was a bit of mixed reviews which stopped me from coming here for dinner the night before. I'm a tourist and have never been to Fairbanks. I was traveling by foot without a car and this was near my hotel. I ordered the lasagna for $16.99 and it was extremely hot, cooked perfectly and came out in a reasonable amount of time. I don't know if I'll be in Fairbanks ever again, but I'd definitely recommend this spot. Nearby tables also seemed happy with their food. This little Italian hole in the wall eatery is just what the doctor ordered after two months on the North Slope! It's small and quaint, and the wine selection is not bad. They have an extensive menu with pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and everything in between. I had the veggie fettuccine. Very rich but delicious! With a side of garlic toast and some wine! Good stuff! The service is very friendly and relaxed. It's not a fast paced atmosphere (like much of the city). You can come here have a few drinks, and indulge in some great Italian food! My favorite Italian restaurant in town. As a local, I feel like that's saying something but I'm also one of those people that sticks to what I know is good. I love their Garlic Lovers & Chicken pizza. Always have it with one of the many choices of wine by the glass. I also love their stuffed manicotti vegetarian dish and their French onion soup starter. The zuchinni side always tastes way too oily but that's my only complaint. My sister is a huge fan of their Pollo Parmagiana (Chicken Parmesan). read more

Well, it's a stereotypical Italian Restaurant, one the Mario Brothers would love to frequent. It has gaudy pleather boothes, rounded edges, wood, and low lighting. Food, typical, lots of cream, blandness, and nice servers. I make it sound bad, but it's just so typical. I guess it's just good by local standards. I came for lunch and I ordered the shrimp fettuccine with three cheeses in cream $16.95, and came with 2 pieces of garlic bread. The dish consisted of 6 jumbo shrimp, noodle, and heavy cream. For wetting my whistle I ordered an Alaska White, $4.50/ glass. The server was nice and prompt, with smiles. There was a lunch buffet, $11.99, but though touted as the best deal in the place did not look promising. There were other typical menu offering such as meatball subs and pizzas. Not only were they out of the eggplant, they also said order would be ready in 20 mins and it took 45 mins. They are totally overpriced too. The food wasn't as good as they think it is for the prices they charged us. The shrimp scampi had 5 shrimp with some onions, a few mushroom pieces & zucchini in a sauce. NO NOODLES!!! Literally $28 for hardly a thing and they didn't have pasta with it. I mean is this an Italian restaurant or what? We ordered on the phone and weren't even offered the noodles so we didn't even know it was EXTRA and didn't come with the shrimp. On another occasion my dad tried to order a bowl of spaghetti and a piece of bread, they didn't offer it, not even at a reduced senior cost or even a kids portion, they made him pay full price for a big serving of which he knew he couldn't eat. Geraldo's remodeled their place since we last visited.  The older section is identical to how it used to be, but the new section is lovely.  We ate there at about 6PM on August 7, 2017.  I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs for almost $19.00.  My wife ordered the Stuffed Shells Florentine.   We were seated in the corner of the old section, right by the salad bar.  The older part of the restaurant smelled like old grease, or two-week old urine. The salad bar is about 4 feet by 2 feet and, as you are filling your plate you feel as if you are in the way of other customers. There wasn't lettuce in the salad bar and the potato salad and other items were luke warm, which is not what you want.   The spaghetti and meatballs were worse than a can of Chef Boyardee.  It was not good, nor even close to worth $19.00. The garlic bread was greasy and soggy.   The waitress had a nice smile and was pleasant.  She was also inattentive; she didn't check in on us once and offered no refills for water.  My wife's meal was equally bad.   I encourage you to forgo Geraldo's unless you want pizza, which I assume would be better. Go to the Pita Place or one of the Thai places in town.  When we walked in and saw the improvements that took place over the past 7 years we were hopeful that the food was going to be excellent. Even 7-years ago Geraldo's wasn't great, but it feels like robbery to spend that much money on pasta and get food that exhibits little thought, planning, or care. read more

Three of us ordered simple spaghetti and meatballs, all three noodle portions were less than the child's portion of the kid sitting next to us it, server never came around to check if all was well. When she did come I asked for a manager and she said that she was the manager and server, when I complained about lack of portion size she said , I'll see what I can do ?, she's the manager so she should know what to do. Tried Geraldo's for the first time last week. Our group had Spaghetti w/ Meatballs, Pizza, and a Calzone. We all really enjoyed our food. The service was good. Beautiful atmosphere! My only semi-negative comment is that the salad bar isn't great....Check out the salad bar before you decide to buy that. The salad bar is pretty small and not very many options. I'm actually kidding about that, I don't think he was drunk, just not present mentally. Now for the food; I ordered bruschetta first, I won't make that mistake again. It was tomatoes, capers and thin sliced cheese. No olive oil, no garlic (except in the dipping sauce) all on a flat bread that want even toasted well. Next came the meal. I ordered the baked lasagna. This is one of my go to restaurants for date night. The food is excellent, we can't get enough of the French onion soup and we've honestly gone just for that before. I almost always get shrimp alfredo which is AMAZING, they also use very large shrimp with the tails still on to add more seafood flavor to the alfredo. We've never had an outrageous wait and service has always been great (even with new staff), it's definitely somewhere worth trying out. read more
