He sold me a car. I put 1k down on it as good merit as he takes it to get it smogged, registered, and aligned. I then get a message the next day saying he canceled the deal, even though he told me the car was mine. Do not do business with them. I have never had a sale like this ever be taken back after its been made. He even gave me a receipt for it, which I guess was good for nothing. He ended up selling the car to someone else after the deal was made. Didn't know after I bought the car it was gonna be put up to the highest bidder. read more

Let me tell you all a story about Mirek who I will now refer to as a Saint! This story occurred 4 days ago on Sunday - 9/6/15 in Mammoth, Ca.. I was driving back home from Black Rock, Nevada to SoCal in my Toyota 4runner (note - non-german car). After pulling back onto the road after a pit stop I kicked up some rocks that ultimately broke off the fan blade that cools my radiator and engine. I was able to safely pull off the road at a gas station/rest stop. When I opened the hood to my truck, I see coolant spewing, squirting, and leaking everywhere. Noting that it was coming directly from my radiator, I knew I was not in good shape. I later learned that the fan blade pierced several holes in my radiator. With no place to stay in Mammoth and needing to get back to SoCal that night, my options were thin. Being it was labor day the next day my options were dire and all the local auto shops in the surrounding areas (Bishop & Mammoth) were closed the next day and would not be able to help me until Wednesday. Well the camp mates I was with took our RV into Mammoth to see if there were any last ditch efforts or mechanics willing to work overtime on this emergency situation. Overhearing my good friend talk about my situation at an auto parts store in Mammoth, Mirek decides to make a trip back up north 20 minutes away to see my car and the situation I was in.. At this point I was resigned to calling into work and letting them know I would not be coming in until Thursday. Mirek shows up, and me not knowing who he was at this point starts to look at my gusher of a 4runner. He then proceeds to grab something out of his car which turned out to be JB weld and starts patching the holes on my radiator. Even after patching 3 different holes, its still leaking. He then tells me he will be right back and leaves to go to his vacation home nearby and grab some "stop leak". He comes back and says not only did he happen to have stop leak but its not even available on a store shelf. This stuff has copper flakes in it and came in a glass bottle. He poured it into my radiator and sure enough about 30 minutes later my radiator had stopped leaking completely! Even with a broken fan blade and all I was able to pour water into my radiator and make the 9 hour trip back home without another incident!! Without Mirek showing up and saving myself and my car, I would still be in Mammoth as I write this. Instead he patched me up and sent me on my way, without a mention of billing me or anything of the sort. He did this while on his own vacation, helping out a fellow burner. I could not be more grateful for Mirek stopping and taking time out of his personal time and vacation time to help me. If you have read this far, you should now understand who you are taking your car to. This is not only an honest man but a man who runs an honest business even when no one is looking. BEST BREAKS EVER. Took my 1997 e320 to merrick and it was the best decision ive ever made car wise. The whole crew at german tech is amazing! They are super nice and help you stay in your budget while they still take care of your problems. Do NOT take your car to this mechanic. We made a mistake by taking our car in for a routine repair, something any mechanic should have been able to do. The owner/manager did not instill trust, when he changed his mind several times about what the problem was. Since we knew of no alternative at that point, we went ahead and had the repair done. But as we drove our car home, there was a loud knocking sound that was rotational to the speed of the engine. We called the mechanic and asked about it, but he didn't know and of course said to bring it back in. At this point, the knocking sound was something new, something obviously caused by the mechanic, so we lost confidence in taking it back. What was to stop him from hiding his error and saying it needed something else more expensive? We then investigated other options and took it to a reputable repair shop and they said that some bolts had not been tightened adequately, something NO competent mechanic would have failed to do. Had we continue to drive it, we would have ruined our wheels and possibly had a safety issue. On something so basic, there is no excuse for not adequately tightening bolts on a wheel. We, of course, will never go here again, and despite the other good reviews, we would advise people to get second opinions or avoid this place entirely. read more

I've used German Auto Tech periodically for a decade, now. If available, I love the convenience of his loaner vehicles. Earlier in the year, I had a potential transmission problem with my Eurovan that appeared to need replacing. Mirek was agreeable to corresponding with a local specialist who only works on transmissions for a second opinion and welcomed the the transmission expert to come help diagnose, further--and, ultimately take on the repair job. Fortunately, we didn't need to replace the tranmission--Mirek handled the situation quite professionally while receptive to collaborating with another business owner. Recently, I thought I might need to replace the engine--two mechanics including the local VW service dept in T.O. as well as a mechanic who I fully trust didn't want to touch it. Managing my expectations, Mirek also indicated a potential engine replacement. I'm happy to report that after a closer look, he found no need to replace the engine. He discovered a common issue and a relatively simple repair that he learned about 15 years ago--in fact, he acknowledged the issue/repair as a guarded trade secret of which many mechanics in the area are unaware:) I haven't picked up the car, so I don't know what I'll be charged--I fully expect it will be fair. My sense is that Mirek gets a 5 star for my most recent experience! Mirek is an honest professional with much expertise. Went in today to get a used car purchase inspection on a 2004 BMW X5. The girl at the corner was very friendly and the mechanic was very thorero with the inspection. The car turned out to have at least $1,500 in past due maintenance when the owner of the car assured me that there was nothing wrong with the car. Today they saved me from $8,000 mistake because the car look flawless on the outside and inside but there were slight oil leaks, intake leak and valve cover gasket leak etc. I totally recommend these guys to all my friends. Merek is knowledgeable, honest and thorough. After recently moving to the area and upon my first visit to replace a Xenon headlight, my newly purchased 2004 Mercedes E500 was given an informal, yet full inspection. To analyze a wheel problem, Merek drove my car, then returned to his shop, replaced the front wheel with one from another of his cars. Then, he again drove my car determine the exact cause of my problem. Bottom line: He could've gouged and needlessly charged me for wheel bearing replacement, but he determined I have a faulty tire and referred me to a tire store. All of this diagnostic work done free of charge. I rarely review on Yelp, but I recommend Merek, my new mechanic of choice. read more

In addition, he NEVER told me he was going to do any of this additional work. His excuse was that this work needed to be done but he never contacted me. I had my daily driver car in another shop so I took out my BMW which I don't drive very often. It was very hot and I was in a parking lot when the temp gauge started rising. I started driving to cool it down which it did for about a mile then it started rising really fast. I figured I had a coolant leak so I exited the freeway and made it to a gas station. There was a big leak and I thought it was the expansion tank so I called BMW. They kept me on hold for so long my wife had come to pick me up then we drove there. When I finally got to the counter they quoted a price $100 more than online and it was not available. I thought about towing it home but had seen German Tech just up the road so I called them. They said they could do it right then for not much more than the part cost at BMW. The tow truck was going to take over an hour so I had my wife take me to German Tech where I met Mirek. He drove me back to my car with some water and we filled it up and I drove it to his shop. While there they took it apart and found some belts and hoses that obviously needed to be replaced so I left it there overnight and picked it up today. Price was super reasonable and they got the job done right. Will definitely take it there again if the need arises. read more
