Best grocery stop in the area! If you can't cook and you eat out of packages you won't get this place so don't bitch if you can't get hamburger helper for 49 cents. This is the only place around that always has USDA PRIME steaks. Also a very worthy selection of beer, wine, and booze - their buyer clearly knows his stuff! Excellent produce including local and organic stuff. Better selection of cheeses than other places in the area too. This small independent market has been around Redlands forever. Originally downtown on Orange street they have long been in their current location in a nice residential area. MIght be a little out of the way if you're not familiar with the area but easy enough to find. read more

A good smaller-size grocery store. I wouldn't do a whole lot of shopping here for the basics because the prices seem a higher than average. But lots of local stuff all over the place. Lots of specialty items. Checkout service is usually on the slower side, but that gives you more time to look out the window and try to figure out what's going on outside. Is it a barbecue? Sometimes. Is it a group of older people passing the time under the eaves? Always. Is it bags of groceries you can buy and have donated to family services? Around the holidays, yes. Is it ever the same? No (except for the old people). Is it that enjoyable to sit in plastic chairs with your toes practically in the parking lot? I'm going to have to try it some time. read more

I enjoy shopping at Gerrard's and supporting a smaller grocery store. It's a convenient neighborhood store. They have a great selection of quality foods and drinks - their produce section usually has some good sales and better prices than Albertson's. The wine selection and the Beer Cave are amazing. My family has been coming to this great local market since 1969. My son and daughter still use it when visiting. This has to be the worst market on the planet. Place was dirty,unorganized,and overpriced. Whoever does the hiring should fire themselves. The employees are rude,slow, and just interested in talking to other employees. The people in the deli complain while serving you and they produce the worst slop I have seen. My family owns restaurants and we would never treat people the way they do. I have no problem paying high prices if the quality of the food is better and you are treated nice. Don't know how it's been open so long. I am going to tell everyone I know how bad this place is. When I checked out the two young lady tellers were talking about how they didn't care about people or there job and that they had no heart. This is a locally owned grocery store in Redlands. Only a few blocks from my home, it's very convenient when we need a few things, but also a tad pricey. The y have some great prepared foods and a very good wine selection reasonably priced. But the star of the store is the beer cave. Incredible selection, with every local brew you can think of. If you want an order of 12 burritos all given wrong, this is the place. In appreciation of all the nurses after a really hard day I took everyone's orders on what they would like in their burritos for lunch. EVERY burrito was wrong. Some of the staff couldn't even eat their supposed special order burritos because of allergies! The burritos were marked as ordered but did not match what they received. I used to always get their burritos but I will never go back, nor do I encourage anyone to go there. Sorry, you lost a loyal customer after over 10 years. read more

Great local market. Huge wall of old fashioned type sodas in glass bottles. The liquor and beer section is also quite extensive. I usually stay away from the prepared food bar though, does not seem sanitary. I love the Gerrards ranch dressing they sell there. Occasionally there are expired products on the shelves, I'm sure due to slower turnover on some items. They sell "Redlands" merchandise here which I also like. I only come here a few times a year when I am visiting grandma but I think it is a fantastic market. Old school good service, knowledgeable staff and a really good selection. I get so sick of the pretentious snobbery that is prevalent in the boutique markets in SF so it is refreshing to be treated like a welcomed customer here. You can get all your basics no problem. They really shine with the excellent beer/wine choices, loads of artisan cheeses and killer take home stuff (mmmm tri-tip). Best market in the Inland Empire. Very good customer service and the selection of speciality items has really expanded tremendously over the years. Highlights at this market are their butchers and the selection of prime beef. I can always count on the beef tenderloin, beef short ribs, and lamb chops to be absolutely exceptional and higher quality meat then served at most high end restaurants. The beer and wine selection is the best in the entire area, as they carry a lot of craft beers from local breweries in addition to many foreign beers. In fact, with their expanded beer cave I no longer have any need to shop at Bevmo. Very good selection of quality domestic and imported gourmet cheeses. read more

This time I ended up with an expired chocolate bar, and it's the last straw. This store is mostly good since they are a specialty store. But I have to say everything I go to the service deli to get lunch meat, the person is rude. Today I waited for about 5 minutes until another employee got the person from the back to see what i wanted. During that time another customer was waiting. I said hi and she just said who was first She looked like she was really annoyed to have to come out. I just put my hand up and ordered. I like this place. I love their fruit too. the only downside to it is that they need to check the expiration dates on their chips. I bought some chips (I paid $5) and it expired on march 7, 2019. -___- today is march 18. They don't get more until they stop knowingly selling defective items. Their ice cream freezer failed like a month ago. It go fixed, I think. The owner has refused to toss the ice cream that melted. I just almost bought some obviously previously melted its-its today (I opened the box because I've been burned before). It is a running joke among the staff now. "Don't buy ice cream here" said one checkout person. I'm not sure how long this freezer failed for, but if it was too long it doesn't just make for bad ice cream but a health hazard. I live around the corner, I could shop here every day.... They seriously need to shut this store down, remodel it entirely and turn it into the upscale neighborhood grocery it should be! I'm tired of buying overpriced EXPIRED food, frozen products that have melted and re frozen. It's UNACCEPTABLE. Broken freezers, broken refrigerators, moldy fruit... Come on! I expect to pay a bit more here as they can't buy in bulk the way a major chain does. I get that. The deli counter help is moody and clearly wants to be doing something other than serve you. I believe in supporting local businesses. I love this store because they support local artisanal vendors. Many times they have specials that are lower than chain grocers. They are early adopters of new gourmet food items. While I appreciate the outrageous liquor assortment and the meat counter, I have become so disenchanted with the ladies who work at the deli counter. Seriously, one woman in particular is so miserable to customers that I believe it costs Gerrard's business. Just a thought, how about pre- slicing your top three cold cuts and cheeses so that your customers don't have to invest 30 minutes of time waiting for service? I have had the grainy defrosted ice-cream, the moldy bread, and expired can goods....I understand that food doesn't turn over as fast as Costco. Love this place. You can find all sorts of food you won't find anywhere else. Boar's Head meat? YES! Only issue (which is why they don't have 5 stars), is the checkers. This place is a little pricey for food shopping, but they do carry a selection of gourmet meat (Boar's Head) and cheese that are not readily available in town. It is a wonderful place if you really want something special or unique, like if you were throwing a party or impressing some work people/future in laws/ anniversary dinner at home. By far my favorite thing about this store is "The Cave" it has TONS of hard to find beers and a wide variety of local selections. The seasonal beers cannot be beat. They have a better selection than Bevmo and that means a lot when you consider that they have 1/10 of the size of Bevmo's beer real estate. When you walk in, go left and follow the beer cooler (which has great finds itself) along to the back. Then go crazy picking out new beers you have never heard of and ones that are old favorites. They also have a small but interesting selection of buy one get one for $.01 wines including albarino and other varieties I don't see at bigger retailers. This was our first foray to gerrards. My girlfriend and I have wanted to check this place out for some time. Upon entering we were both pleased with the huge selection and build your own 6 pack of beer set up. Great looking meat counter/deli. I needed to use the restroom and asked the cashier where it was...the look on her face indicated I was annoying her...and..she didn't look at me once and I didn't really hear what she said. Thankfully a customer in line smiled at me and told me where I could find it. Fast forward and we are trying to purchase some trail mix for an upcoming trip...the machine however is clogged/jammed. Rather than shake it like the hulk we asked for help. The girl we asked walked over to 3 others that were standing there doing little or nothing, all 4 made eye contact and the girl walks back and says that somebody will be right over....I look up and the other three have vanished. We wait and wait a little while longer then decide to check out with what we have. The same cashier that was annoyed with my earlier question is the only one open so we idle up and wait...and wait while she is busy conveying a story to a customer. More people begin stacking up behind us, she sees this, yet continues with her story... I'm not in the mood to go through all this again so we leave. I give them props for the beer, deli, bakery, and dry goods on hand.. However, the customer service sucked. I doubt we'll return.... read more

Gerrard's is great! Maybe a decade back, the place wasn't much, but the folks that took over then really improved things. Overall, Gerrard's is a decent market, with most of what you need (smaller than some of the big markets, so they can't have a dozen different types of toilet paper...) Where it really shines is in specialty items. The wine selection is much better than most supermarkets, and the cheese selection is easily as good as (possibly better than) some of the fancy markets in LA. Gerrard's also has the more unusual and odd items, and fun weird stuff that you don't find in the big markets. Also, the prices are pretty decent, especially on the better stuff, and especially compared to the fancy markets in LA. read more

I'm quiet new in Redlands and stays close to Gerrard's. So I've going there for groceries sometimes and like it in terms of choice and service. It's a friendly community and local supporter that people seems to appreciate for its proximity and simplicity. Although I found them quite overpriced, the produce are locals but not always fresh, prices are not always indicated and I have, once, experienced the deli where the lady was not especially courteous but that was ok. So it's a good place but they could do better to be your "main groceries store" instead of being the spare one. read more
