The restaurant itself, as the name implies, serves the greatest seafood hits Peru has to offer. It sits right on the SF Pier (1 and 1/2) and even has a patio overlooking the water and bougie yachts! (Super nice! Bring a jacket for the patio though--this is San Francisco!!) We sat in the main dining room. The main dining room has simple decor--very industrial-looking. Our waiter, Brad, brought us some papas nativas chips and huacatay sauce to dunk them in. I love huacatay and this sauce was fresh and flavorful! We devoured the entire tub of chips. We then got a Causa California which is an elevated classic causa with crab, quail eggs, tomatoes, purple potatoes, and aji amarillo sauce. DELICIOUS! It wasn't plated in the classic fashion, where the crab is between layers of the potato puree, but it didn't detract from the flavor or presentation one bit. Next were the Anticuchos: a slam dunk! I found the flavor to be slightly different to classic anticuchos, but delicious! Pro tip: do NOT let the waiter take away your huacatay sauce so you can dunk the crispy potatoes in the sauce! For our entree, we split a Chaufa Aeropuerto. Again, some creative liberties were taken: broccoli was added when the OG dish usually doesn't have broccoli. The stone dish it comes in also seemed really small--but do not be fooled! Inside is PLENTY of delicious goodness! The scrambled egg on top with the shrimp and Wagyu beef took this dish to flavor town!!! The only thing I would add to it is something crunchy, like wontons. By this point, we were stuffed, but there's always some room for dessert! So we split a Choco-Maracuya. LOVED this dessert! You crack it to reveal the layers. The presentation makes it look like a lemon but it's chocolate! Inside are 2 layers of chocolate and passionfruit cheesecake. SO GOOD--with the graham cracker and strawberry crumble? YUMMmm! The only down side was that someone told my friend the sparkling water was free (it wasn't). Not sure if that was a misunderstanding? Regardless, if you want some classic Peruvian seafood dishes (with some twists) come to La Mar! I know I'll be returning multiple times as I LOVE all of Gaston Acurio's restaurants! The doughnuts were made fresh to order, still warm and a little gooey. And that sticky sweet sauce with subtle spices were amazing. I did extra rounds on the plate to ensure I could soak up as a much as possible with each doughnut bite.

There is a nice selection off the main menu for Happy Hour 4-6pm. Providing an opportunity to sample one or more of the menu items as an appetizer. I chose the mussels with garlic bread, as good ones are not found easily. The portion was quite ample, and the sauce I dipped my nice crunchy garlic bread in was very flavorful, warm and delicious. I also tried the plantains which were cooked perfectly; not too mushy with a perfect char, and the sweet onions on top were also tasty. Paired with a very tangy dipping sauce. All the flavors came together well. My husband ordered the Cantina burger which he enjoyed down to the last bite. Our daughter also sampled off the smaller menu with Lomo Empanadas and the Chicharron de Pollo which she reported were both very nicely prepared. Will, our server gave us excellent recommendations which we availed ourselves of. The bill for 4 items plus the burger, a side of rice, and a ginger beer came to just under seventy dollars, which was a reasonable price. I would definitely give the food five stars, and the restaurant four as it's a long and lengthy bar with a few tables for two. The majority of the seating is in the back with two flat screens and an open kitchen. I can imagine how loud this place can get. We went at the perfect time: not a lot of customers so we received excellent individualized service from Will. I would hope to be able to return next time we visit GG Park and sample some more menu items like the Peruvian Paella which sounded very promising.

To note, Juniper is typically busy, but I have never waited in line for more than 10 minutes, even on weekends. It's also in an area where you can shop around (across the street) if you want to grab a bite as well. Our go to orders include the Mocha Dream Espresso Cloud and the Nitro Mango, but we have also gotten the Hojicha Cloud, which is amazing as well. We got sandwiches and a wrap, both were really tasty. We ended up sharing halves of the wraps with some friends and they were hella impressed as well. Great value and great flavor and enough for two meals. So good that we went back a few weeks later and they added a special southwestern wrap, and somehow this one was even better! I hope they make this a staple on their menu because honestly I think I like the flavor profile better than the traditional cesar wrap. Hornet, if you are reading this, I hope you make an asian-style sesame chicken wrap or some take on the chinese chicken salad, I'd be lining up to try that one. Keep up the awesome work!

Egg salad sando / 7-Eleven: Best egg salad sando I've had…read morethus far in the city. Better than the more popular Japanese eateries/cafes. The bread is nicely soft, moist, and not too thick. Crust is light. The third slice helps break up the richness of the filling, and by being so thin (but not too thin), it keeps the overall bread:filling ratio in a good spot. It also helps give some friction, lessening the amount of filling that oozes out the back and sides when you take a bite. The filling is creamy, rich, and well seasoned. A pinch of something something to zhuz it up might be a nice option (maybe relish? Japanese curry powder? Furikake?), but as is it's a very solid basic egg sando. Besides the culinary side, at the current $10, it's reasonably priced. Chicken Caesar wrap: The salad tastes notably fresher than most other CCWs I've had and it's not too stem-y. It's close to what you'd get at a nice sit down restaurant, as opposed to some overdressed slop at a buffet table. Mine was a smidge light on the chicken, could've used a few more of the nicely seasoned croutons, and could've been rolled a bit tighter, but I would (and will) order it again. Service was friendly, feeling like a nice little neighborhood spot.
