I try not to leave reviews lower than a 3-star rating, but sometimes it happens. Get Fit, formally known as Gold's gym, is a 24-hour gym facility that I go to from time to time. I love the convenience to just go to the gym whenever my scheduled would allow - which doesn't always fit into most gym hours. Recently, however, I've noticed that the owners are no longer willing to reinvest dollars into their equipment. It seems like everything is broke down, rundown and worn out. I'm sure it's due to low sign up with places like LA fitness and Vasa within a few miles. It's hard to compete. It look like they close down a lot of the amenities they used to have. It's kinda sad to visit. I hope they're able to re-fire their spark. read more

I was charged $120 a month over the course of a year for personal training sessions. Personal Trainer Daniel Kaluya (apologies if I'm misspelling his last name) misled me by making it seem like I was purchasing three months of personal training. That's what we agreed to during our in-person conversation. He specifically told me I was buying three months, and even had me write "3" on a blank line in front of the word "months" to make it clear. At no point in the conversation or on the contract did he mention that I would need to manually cancel after those three months. To make matters worse, Daniel never actually trained me himself. He assigned me to another trainer, a Hispanic man named Eric (I believe). I haven't spoken to Eric since July 31st of last year. After the three months, neither Eric nor Daniel contacted me again. Daniel never followed up with me after I signed the contract at his desk, even though I believed I was signing up to work with him. I didn't make a big deal about the trainer switch at the time, but in hindsight, I probably should have. Eric also frequently split my sessions with other clients and told me which body parts to train based on what was convenient for his schedule--not what I, the paying client, wanted to focus on. Almost every other session with him was either late or canceled last minute and rescheduled. This is what I was paying $120/month for. But I'm not even here to complain about the poor service. If that's the level of service, fine. My issue is that I received no service whatsoever after the end of July. The last time the trainer contacted me about a session was July 21st. He never followed up after that. It seems like even he understood that I was only signed up for three months--just like Daniel led me to believe. However, I continued to be charged $120 a month from August through January. That's $720 for absolutely nothing. I wasn't contacted about any sessions or given the opportunity to use what I had been charged for. When I finally brought this to Daniel's attention, all he did was tell me the payments would stop--after I had to go out of my way to speak to him in person. That happened in January. I'll admit I was salty, but I kept my mouth shut--until today. Today, when I walked into the gym to cancel my membership, I was told that I owe them money. The irony. I still had a regular gym membership with Get Fit after January, but because of my experience with Daniel and the PT program, I rarely used it. When I tried to cancel, the owner informed me that I not only owed a cancellation fee for the regular membership, but also $120 to cancel the personal training. Not only did this gym steal $720 from me, they had the audacity to demand more when I chose to take my business elsewhere. Shame on this gym. Shame on it for lying and misleading people. If your service were actually good, you wouldn't have to rely on cheating people out of their money and charging them extortionate fees just to leave. I usually don't write reviews--even if I've had a bad experience once or twice--but this crosses the line. Membership price is not worth it. Majority of cardio machines are always broken. Tanning beds don't heat up. Sauna is nice. That's it though. Smells bad even for a gym. Save your money. read more

I've been attempting to receive the three day trial but they get your info but don't give the pass that they advertise you getting "Today". Its a little scammy to tell someone to give them your email and phone number and then you'll receive the pass info to go to the gym immediatel, if you choose. You give them what THEY want and then you get the generated message " we will be in touch". Be in touch?! You can see me in person if you'll give me the damn pass I just signed up for . Sorry folks, but I just don't track with the bad reviews. Why? Ok, how about I tackle what those others said were soooo bad (not going to repeat them, but I'll address these issues first so you know). Cleanliness: I do see the employees cleaning the machines and always see them talking with customers, ready to help with a smile. One of the reasons I joined was because one of the managers kept me in touch with the specials (I asked her too, due to injuries I couldn't join yet) and she did. Funny, but she was like a cheerleader for me to get back into the gym, without being a shark to get my membership. And, when I did go in, they kept to her promises of the specials I would get, no hassles. *If I'm being picky this is where it gets 4 stars, only when you get down on a ball or mat in certain rooms (like the tire room) you get to see the cleanliness could be better, on the floors and stuff. But, like I said, I feel a bit picky pointing it out...but you should know :) Contracts: Every gym has some complicated contracts, and I was told about a small annual fee that comes out once a year, and all about how to cancel, and what was and was not included in my membership. I was given time to read and it and answer questions, oh! And, because of my injuries and being unsure of surgery they made some special accommodations working with me on my contract needs. Helpful and not aggressive. Individual Training: I wish I could do individual training but right now the $10 buck monthly basic is in my budget, or I would do it! Because I was offered a free session with one of the trainers, and I have had plenty of trainers. I haven't felt the need for one in a while, but after her, I'd opt in. She was knowledgeable and receptive to my personal needs, impressive. Machines: This place has plenty of machines to afford a couple that are out-of-order; though I don't run into that issue much. There is a second level of cardio machines, a Cardio Theater full of them (while you watch a movie that changes weekly), and a women's only area that has them too! Cannot complain. Free-weight area: Every gym has problems with weights being left here and there, but they do have posted warnings to deter members from doing this. I see no difference in the amount of this here than the many other gyms I've been a member at. And, it is a large area that I have not seen packed, like ever. I've never had to leave because I couldn't get my workout on. Plus, there are the weight machines that cover the body of the gym that can fill the needs should there be an overload. Now I'll brag that for $10 you get a 3 lane lap pool, saunas in the locker rooms, a separate area for females that has both cardio and weights, and it's open 24 hours, a lounging area for pre and post workout, and vending machines with your favorite energy drinks and needed fluids. And, my favorite is the racquetball court that I've seen people using; I cannot wait to buy my gear and get in there. Oh, wait there's more! There is a room with ropes and big tires and other equipment like balance balls and bars for the enthusiast that can do that (not me lol). Plus, classes in the aerobics room, that when free you can use for jumping rope, stretching, you name it. To top it off, with a Prime Membership you get tanning and get to bring friends to try it out (not sure if there is a limit on that, but that's how I got hooked). read more

Fix the touch-less faucets in the men's locker room. Neither one of them work worth a damn. You realize what's happening, right? Would you like to know how many members are using the restroom and NOT WASHING THEIR HANDS because they have no option? Yeah. And then they touch weights and equipment that we all touch. And fix the damn water fountain already. It's been over a year (my entire time as a member) that the larger one doesn't work. All of these can be fixed for $200-300. No excuses! read more

I was expecting they would be out of business by now, but apparently they're immune to 1 star reviews here. I would give ZERO stars if I could. Do not join this gym. I worked here 6 years and they only care about getting a membership and will use high pressure sales tactics. They don't care about their employees at all. The gym is always dirty, I mean FILTHY and management doesn't care about cleaning it. They didn't even have mats for 6 months until I begged and begged for them to order MATS. They are literally only a few dollars. I was reprimanded for pointing out things like this. It was expected I just ignore the complaints because as long as they sign up 300 people a month for $1 or $10 down they think they're good. They treat this place like a high school hangout rather than a fitness facility. It is not the same place I started working at the past year has transformed into somewhere it was embarrassing to say I was apart of. I am blessed for the experience and life long relationships with clients, members, and teammates. VASA is opening in a month and it's down the road. Why I love them is because they care. For $10 a month (plus $40 annual fee) this place is a great deal. Especially since I live 4 minutes away. Pretty much every kind of weight equipment a body builder or hardcore power lifter would ever need. Which is really all I care about. This mens restroom and locker room is the only reason why I didn't give a 5 star rating. Almost every time I come in there they shower faucets are leaking profusely. Because to get the leaking to stop you have to use a bit of strength to turn the knobs all the way clockwise for them to stop leaking. Which is something most patrons don't bother to do. read more

Stay far far away. As a member for many years, it was never great but has gotten exceptionally worse. New (assistant?) management will interrupt you during a workout to tell you to be quiet now that a health provider is next door, filthy all over with visible dust bunnies even though "cleaning crews" are visible in the mornings, quick to sign you up then make you suffer to get out. The current general manager is hilariously unreasonable, talks over you and interrupts you while talking and is unable to provide any solutions to your problems. No customer journey focus, no empathy, full of excuses rather than making an attempt to be understanding. I'd say you get what you pay for, but it ends up feeling like they should pay YOU to be a member. If you want a real experience, pay the extra for Indy City Barbell and join an actual community. read more

This gym is so unprofessional. I first liked it because it had a ladies workout room. They are now allowing men to go into the workout room. Personal trainer(s) at first, then I seen men members. I'd rather goto Planet fitness and spend $10 extra. Management is also very unprofessional. There's a blonde named Olivia and she screamed at me when I asked about a water. Then on a different day a manager named Scott stopped me mid workout and was very pass aggressive for some reason assuming I looked like someone they banned from the gym ?? Beware of very shady "cancellation practices" - after being dissatisfied with the facility, especially cleanliness and lack of sanitation products, I called GetFit to see how to cancel my membership. I was told over the phone it it could be cancelled, I explained that I live 5 minutes away and could come in if necessary, but was told it was taken care of. Fast forward 9 months later and I see on a bank statement I've been charged for the monthly membership. Turns out I've been paying for months. I called again thinking this could be taken care of/reimbursed and found out that the rep on the original phone call put my account on a 3 month FREEZE instead of canceling, like they assured me (multiple times). I was told there would be no reimbursement and was still charged a cancellation fee on top of being charged another months membership, after continuing to pay for several months unknowingly. Apparently you can be lied to over the phone, but their contract protects them from any repercussions for outright deception (DURING THE PANDEMIC, MIND YOU). With Covid especially I had no reason to question being told I didn't have to go in to cancel. Horribly irresponsible business practices and callous customer service. Glad to be finally rid of it, I hope. read more

I'm sad to see such bad reviews. This gym is pretty awesome. They have everything, from a women only workout area to a cardio cinema. Pool, sauna, second level with tons of cardio equipment and a long staircase leading to it. I've seen plenty of other gyms, and believe me, I absolutely love the new ymca downtown, but this gym has everything. They have a children play area and will watch your kids while you workout. Personal trainers are a fairly small price or you can opt for a class which is free with the membership and they are almost everyday of the week at every experience level. I'm greeted everytime and all of the staff is friendly and helpful. I usually pay everything up front. And if you find someone to sign up with, it's about 150 for a year. I think that's almost a steal for the amount of equipment and variety. Not to mention, they are open 24/7. I only would stay away from going in the evening hours. It can get really busy, even being such a large gym. I would definitely recommend if you don't have a large budget for an expensive gym membership elsewhere. But overall, it's a great, well maintained gym. read more

Don't bother unless you're never going to need to cancel. Great facility for the casual work out routine, convenient location for the east side. It's awesome until you have to cancel a membership. Husband had a membership gIven to him as a Christmas gift, but due to health reasons and a move we needed to cancel. Found out it must be done in person, by the person who uses the membership, not the person who pays the membership per se, must give 30 days notice, must pay annual fee, must pay the fee for the 30 days you don't want the membership, and have to pay a cancellation fee. $75 to cancel a membership is ridiculous. We've made 6 different attempts to cancel and explain the situation, but nope $75 and him in person or no dice. Awful awful customer service and absolutely unreasonable cancellation policies. No one in our family will ever recommend their facilities to any one we know. read more

CJ the personal trainer acted an ass because my daughter was with me while training my fiance. Mind you shes right under our feet watching a show on netflix with headphones in bothering nobody. After saying kids werent allowed we told him no worries we didnt know and only had 2 sets of 10 left in the entire workout on cables and she would just do the 20 reps really fast and we would be on our way. He started arguing with me because I asked him if he could get a manager because the employees have watched me scan and do this before and even walk up and ask my 5 year old questions and be very polite. He then said no and demanded my fiance to get off the cables, I told her just hurry up and do her set of 20 so we could leave. Camargo Hall (CJ) (Head of Personal Training) approached the workout machine like he was going to take the cables out of her hands and demanded we take our kid to the front/car by herself if we wanted to finish the 20 reps. I then admit I started to cuss him out after approaching my fiance like that, he told me we could go to the parking lot (later declined his own offer) and settle this. This was the most unprofessional and disrespectful trainer I have ever met. Made my 5 year old daughter cry and shake wondering why were getting kicked off our machine for no reason and told to leave her upfront by herself when all the other employees have been nothing but kind to her. This was sad as my fiance is starting her fitness journey but works until 8-9 everynight and our LA Fitness is closed by then. Get Fit was an amazing addition to the gym plan seeing it was 24 hours and fit her schedule. Sad to say we will be canceling our membership. We recommend LA Fitness on Washington. Everyone there is super nice and something like this would've never happened. read more

Not a great place. Original membership was to be that if I paid a year premium rate in advance would get 2nd year free but computer mysteriously kept getting it wrong. It was 3 months free, then when asked for correction was 6 months, etc. They never could give me an agreement that stated the 2 years but assure my it's "in the computer". Been going about 6 months now so we'll see. Other issues, no ( or reduced) air conditioning in main gym area for about 2 months in summer! Too cheap to run it or to fix it is what I heard. Their solution? Provide fans at front desk for employees and leave doors open ( so obviously was cooler outside during summer than in gym). Fine if you like hot yoga and want a gym with forced hot weight lifting I guess. Also, two of 4 tanning beds are dangerous. One bed is cracked and other had no cover over blowing fan near the head!!! I told staff and they were like eh, ok. Pool has been closed a few times now since I joined, there a few lockers to use as most are locked already or rented , and staff ( mostly 20- somethings) is entirely consumed with socializing. You will never see them on the floor offering assistance unless you are paying for a training session. Don't get me started on my experience with that. I did email the manager once to ask about the situation with the air conditioning and received no response. Seems he doesn't care anymore than anyone else about the customer experience. It was pretty unpleasant going to the gym this summer because of the heat in the main gym area. They are only about sales and don't seem to understand the value in keeping customers rather than acquiring new ones. Their sales tactics are pretty aggressive. I called once to ask about pricing and the person I talked to wrote down my private unlisted number from the caller ID and placed several sales calls and texts to me until I asked him twice to stop or I would call corporate! I would not have joined after that if it wasn't the closest to me. They will also try to upsell the "women's gym", as though we should be happy to be hidden away in a small room where old equipment goes to die while the men use the main gym with the good equipment. ( Women don't have to use the women's gym though.) On the plus side, there is a movie theater ( that was nice and cool), the facility is clean thanks to a cleaning crew that is often seen there, and parking is no problem. it was pretty cool until we weren't allowed to bring backpacks any more because some rotten eggs decided to steal. I think we should at least be allowed to bring see-thru or mesh bags. This place is about a good as their swiss cheese parking lot. Had a myriad of issues during 2 years of membership including being told by a manager that my membership was canceled because I am unable to wear a mask even though everyone in the building was not wearing them or not wearing properly (including the manager who threatened my membership). Didn't even know I still had a membership until I got charged the following month. Manager said that didn't happen because there were no mask mandates at the time? Not sure how she knows exactly when it happened since the other manager obviously did not document his lie. Also got sprayed in the face with disinfectant by an employee cleaning a machine while I was on the next one. I asked him to stop or to wait until I was done. He just went on spraying and I got cleaner in my face multiple times until I just left. Should have talked to the manager then but just wanted to go home and shower. Then went to cancel and was told I did not cancel with enough notice so I will still have to pay for 2022 even though I canceled. They said I needed to give one month notice which is what I thought I was doing because my husband signed up 1 month prior to me and his yearly fee they said was not due until the following month. Super sketchy. I was charged to cancel as well and not told until after I paid to cancel that I still had to pay for next year. A total of $60 hard earned dollars going to pay for the staff to text behind the counter I guess. Management refused to even work with me or explain why I was being charged first but signed up second. Don't bother. Go to a real gym or fitness club cause you're just going to wish you had. **EDIT: Forgot to mention how they text and call you all the time trying to get you to sign up for more services or to sign up for a membership that you already have. read more

Get fit does the job for me!!! Here are the positives. It's 24 hours. This comes in handy sketches I can't get to the gym Until like midnight. It's a fairly large facility so it has pretty much ever piece of equipment you need to get the job done. TV are located throughout the faculty. They have a racquetball court plus a TRX training lab for different styles of training. The have a nice swimming pool and a sauna. Last the price is great $10 a month you can't beat that! Ok here is the negative since the price is really good for everything you get here it can get really really crowded!!!! It's really crowded from 5pm to about 8:30pn. So if you come during that time you will have to be creative in getting your workout done in a good time. Other than night I like get fit it's not a hardcore gym but it's definitely not planet fitness!!! It has a good balance of people or passionate about their health. read more

I have been apart of Get Fit for 2 1/2 years now. I was apart of this gym when it was Golds Gym and I always thought it was an awesome gym for the price point. However, as the years went on I noticed how disgusting and disappointing this place is. Every time I come in it's seriously a scavenger hunt to find the free weights. They are CONSTANTLY scattered everywhere around the gym and people DO NOT put them back, same goes for the bars, cable accessories, the barbell weights, etc. Furthermore, I am a female and it is extremely uncomfortable working out outside the women's only, but they have limited selection in there so I come out so I can work on other machines/and higher dumbbell weights. I go with my boyfriend every single time and we are always in the gym at least 5 days a week and I have had to change my workout routine just so I am not being CONSTANTLY WATCHED by freaking creepy ass men. Men will stare at you, even when you are with another male, just to stare and not even workout. I have left early on many occasions and I am even leaving this gym for that very reason. It is so disturbing to the point where I get my mace out and walk around with it. Also, I can't forget about the unbearable temperature inside this place. IT WAS 85 FREAKING DEGREES INSIDE WHEN IT WAS 75 DEGREES OUTSIDE???????? I was doing a HIIT workout and I had to leave early because it was too hot to stand. Also they leave sticky grease on their machines and I went to do assisted pull ups and got it all over my hand. People never clean up their towels and trash either, you will always find them in the treadmill cup holders and on the floor. I canceled my membership because this place is flat out DISGUSTING and the people make you feel so uncomfortable. The workers never clean and the place is seriously revolting. You can change the name of a gym- But if you change nothing else- It's still the same gym. So to me; Get Fit is still Gold's Gym- They are owned by the same people and have the same workers. The only change is a new slap of paint- WOahh! Regardless of the name change- I still love this gym. Most importantly, it's clean. I always see the cleaning crew picking working no matter what time I come in. The Cardio Cinema is the only thing that keeps me sane. A good movie playing in a dark room can double my cardio time! The women's only room is also a big plus since though the general strength area is fully loaded, so are the regulars that inhabit it! Granted this is no LA fitness, and yes some of the machines may be out of order (ps. they have 4 more of the same machine someplace else!) it is still a nice large gym. For the best of your money, it's a safe bet to get a membership here. The staff are inviting and no pressure to enroll. Ive spoken with several gyms and this was the last place to hassle me on joining. They're willing to schedule a meeting just to show you around. The GM (Brooklyn) was wonderful and answered all questions and gave plenty of options for payments. Here, they work with you and around your problems. They let you know upfront what the charges will be and no hidden fees. I definitely suggest being a prime member because its only a $5 difference and you get way more benefits. Plenty of room to work out and feel comfortable. Also, the pool is 24hrs! The pool is okay though but I gave the place 5 stars bc of the awesome staffing and the environment. I dont know, but I just dont feel intimidated at this gym like I do at other gyms (LA fitness, Max, etc). read more
