Let me start off by saying that before we get some generic owner's response to this review is that I am not one to leave negative reviews on local businesses as I am a local business owner myself. I try and use local businesses as much as possible in my daily life. For me to get to a point that I feel as though it's necessary to leave a review is a big deal for me, especially if it's a negative one. I have eaten at Ginger Sue's on several occasions with mostly positive results. The food is good, the location is decent. I say decent because it's in downtown Liberty and parking is scarce. If you're fine with eating your breakfast with mostly attorneys and other businesspersons, then this is the place for you. On Mother's Day I took my mom and my siblings there for breakfast. Our party was not very big, but it wasn't small either. We were seated fairly promptly. The waitress was very "matter of fact". She didn't really interact with us at all other than just taking our orders and bringing our food. She didn't do anything extra, but she didn't do anything wrong either. She simply did her job and went out about her way. We got our food pretty quickly and we were done eating probably within 30 minutes of getting our food. After we were all done, the waitress cleared our table and brought me the check. There was probably a 15 minute window from when I got the check and to when she came and got the check from me after I paid. Once we were all paid up, we sat around to talk for a minute as a family. After we talked for about 15 minutes, an extremely rude waitress, she wasn't even our waitress, came to the table and asked us to leave saying that we had been there for an hour and a half and there were other people waiting to eat. The place was far from being busy to the point where they needed to rush people out. I spent over $100 on breakfast, and once the bill was paid...We were pushed out. The interesting thing about the whole situation was that I kept an eye out on the entire staff. Once our family got up to leave after being dismissed, I closely watched every one of the employees in the restaurant and it was clearly evident that they were extremely uncomfortable with the situation. The lady that asked us to leave gave us a smile as we walked out the door but the minute she turned around to talk to her coworkers, she began running her mouth saying God knows what. Again, I watched the entire thing and saw how the employees reacted to this situation. I say that mostly that this was the actions of one particular employee, but I don't know for sure. All I know for sure is that the actions of this sorry excuse for a waitress ruined Mother's Day for my family. We are a large family and it is very hard to get us all together. I can tell you for certain that I used to send people to this restaurant on a regular basis but now I will be making a point to not recommend this place. So let's all sit back and wait for a ho-hum response from the owner saying how sorry they were and explaining their version of the events. We've all seen these responses so if there is anything I can tell you for certain, it is that I'm not making this up and wouldn't take the time out of my busy day to write this review if it wasn't worth mentioning. read more

Ginger Sue's is a rustic, warm, and friendly place for breakfast or lunch. It is located in historic downtown Liberty, MO right on the square. This is a wonderful brunch restaurant. When you first walk in you see the front seating room. The high ceilings give it a open feeling even though it's not a very large space. The décor may have looked like you were in a barn, yet it was warm and inviting. They have paintings of flowers on the walls and wooden table to help give it the feeling that you are eating in an old farm house. The entire restaurant was clean and well kept. The owner, Ginger, was there the day we went, she came by each table to make sure our food was delicious and the staff was treating us well. I got the feeling that she really cared about how we were treated unlike some of the chain restaurants that you go to that only want to get you in and out as quickly as possible. We felt very welcome and like they did not care how long we stayed as long as we were satisfied. The smell of bacon and syrup in the air just makes you want to eat. The hostess was all smiles and talked with everyone. We were seated quickly and the waitress was friendly and efficient. The drinks came quickly and we were not rushed to place our order. The choices of delicious pancakes to the lunch specials made the choices difficult because everything sounded so good. One downfall would be that the menu was very plain. It lacked photos of some of the food and the colors made it blend in with the wood tables. What they lacked in photos and color they gained in the variety of foods that was offered. The menu was plentiful and you can easily substitute various items without a hassle. The parking was an issue since lots of the parking around the restaurant are reserved for many of the other business in the area. But even if you have to walk a block or so, it is definitely worth going to. Now for the real reason you should visit this place. Pancakes, they are fluffy and warm with a variety of toppings. I do have to say that I love pancakes anyway I can get them. There was not much doubt of what I was going to get, but making the decision of what kind was not as easy. I got pancakes with banana slices cooked inside of them. These came with a peanut butter spread and a side of maple syrup. It was so tasty, I want more now just thinking about it. The platters were ample in size. It would be difficult to finish it in one seating. They offer them by the slice so you can get one or you can get multiple pancakes in your order. They are large and fluffy, so come hungry if you want multiples. The pricing at Ginger Sue's was average. It was not overpriced for what you received. It was about $20 for two of us to fill up and have a lot to take home to eat later. Overall I would recommend this place to everyone with a love for breakfast. read more

I've been to Ginger Sues several times and have always had a good experience with service, food, and coffee. Today I placed a carryout order during a very busy time. When I went to pick it up, I had to wait a little extra as they were completely swamped, however a particular employee went above and beyond to get me taken care of. I wish I had asked for her name, but she was a woman with brunette hair and a maroon shirt on President's Day. I was impressed by her professional, poised and polite attitude even in what was, I'm sure, a stressful situation. She speedily rectified the situation with my order and got my food out to me with a smile. Great little place to grab lunch or breakfast. Ginger Sues is a combination of moms home cooking and a little bistro. The service is #1. The staff was super friendly, but not chatty or pushy. I had Gingers classic with eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, and biscuit. I ordered a pancake on the side and sausage gravy for the biscuit. The bacon rosemary and a hint of sugar. After visiting this small home-grown restaurant, I was hooked. The best way I can sum up the menu to anyone I boast my experience here to is with this: bacon on steroids. Bacon in general is already ironically amazing. Ginger Sue's bacon is otherworldly. Their secret recipe makes the flavors explode in your mouth. Everything is home made, with the portions far from lacking. With it being a breakfast/ brunch place, the only complaint I have is that it isn't open long enough during the day! With the help of my better half, I found a breakfast dish here that I really like, the Cajun Crepe. I substitute salsa for sour cream however. The smoothies are quite tasty as well. No-one who works here has ever been anything other than extremely gracious and pleasant to us. The acoustics are not good but that is common enough. The joint has a very clean, well-lit, almost wholesome air and I appreciate that! I've asked myself what they could do better and I'm stumped. I come here all the time, but I gotta say the service behind the counter/bar has been somewhat…read morepitiful. It's the same waitress. She's very sweet. "thanks for sharing space with me today. "to every customer, but didn't refill my drink, the guy that came in after me and ordered nearly the same thing got his food before me. I think she forgot to put in my ticket. I get it's hectic on a Sunday morning, but either hire more people or put her in a slower section.

I have…read moreordered the big breakfast, corn beef hash breakfast with eggs my eggs are always cooked to perfection on a delivery order! I love fresh fruit. .I have also had the hamburger is also great . If they have any doubts on your order they are kind enough to call you to clarify your order. All the side dishes are pretty tasty . I wish I had taken photos .. I hope u enjoy your meal .
