The delivery guys, however, are very pleasant and always apologetic for the time to deliver. Regardless, just order 45 minutes ahead of when you want the food and you'll be very happy. Let me start by saying that there isn't really anything wrong with the food here. That having been said, it isn't great either. I've had worse in the area. I've also had much better. I ordered food for delivery, noting that it was a bit more expensive than comparable Thai delivery in the area. I was warned that delivery would take about an hour. What I wasn't told is that the food would be prepared immediately, then allowed to get cold while the delivery driver either ignored it, or made several other deliveries. When I called to complain about this, the woman who answers the phones got defensive: "I told you it was going to take an hour and asked if that was ok." I'm not concerned with how long the food took. I just wanted warm food in exchange for my $50! read more

Me and one other person came here on a mid-afternoon Saturday. There was one group of four that left shortly after we ordered, and one guy who seemed really interested in the cute young lady who took our order. She just happened to be one of those "special" waitpeople who didn't need to bother with writing down an order for two. Aaaaaaand guess what happened...she forgot my main entree. We only had one bowl of the coconut curry, cream cheese puffs, shrimp spring rolls, and two plain right-off-the-menu entrees. I'm always on the wait staff's side. I regularly tip more than 20%, and I get that people can have an off night. But when you're showing off and you miss the MAIN thing a waitperson should be concerned about, even on a lazy Saturday afternoon??? Please just write down the order! But I can't complain too much; they had my chicken fried rice out within a few minutes, and the food was excellent. The coconut soup was surprisingly good with a little spicy kick, the cream cheese puffs were the best I've ever had, and the chicken fried rice was pretty good. I didn't really like the spring rolls though; they seemed dry and flavorless, even with the peanut sauce. I'll be back to try some of the other dishes, and my favorites, of course. read more

I've only been there once with a friend. I loved the more updated atmosphere as compared to those traditional Thai places like Bangkok City and such. It's small, but quaint. The service was OK - not great. They were courteous ,but needed to smile a bit more. I chose Cinnamon Duck with plum sauce. It was very good, however the meat chucks were too large and fatty to eat properly. I needed to ask for a knife to cut it up. That should have been done in the kitchen for customer. But even so, the taste was great. I'm definitely going back to try something else. Give it a try. read more

I like this place but the waitstaff is fundamentally flawed. Waitresses rarely write down orders. Then they almost always come back ten minutes later and ask a question about an order. We usually dine as a threesome. If you sledom remember three orders, THEN CARRY A WRITING UTENSIL AND PAPER!!!! They also do not use trays. Drinks, plates, etc. come out two at a time. Is it too much to ask a restaurant to invest in trays and pens and paper for orders? I am thinking about bringing pens and paper to my next restaurant and just giving it to the wait person. I have been here multiple times during lunch hours. Very good selection of salad bar items including tempura, spring rolls and shushi rolls. Lunch dishes are good with reasonable portion size. We eat at this place often but recently had a not so great experience. We ordered one night and were told itd be about 45 minutes. An hour later we called and they said it was on its way. then another 20 minutes later we called and said we didn't want it anymore. They said they'd give us a 50% refund ($21) and it would be there soon. An hour an 45 minutes after we placed our order, the food arrived. I never saw my refund. Called later that week and the manager said it should show up on my card in the next couple days. It never came so we paid $42 for a meal that took almost 2 hours to arrive. Check your to go orders! It's been wrong nearly every time we have ordered in the past couple of years. Order extra as their portions have dwindled. The quality isnt near as good as it once was. The pad Thai is basically just noodles and sauce, no sign of egg, and very little tofu and meat added. Also, don't bother telling ordering at the scale of spice/heat that you want. I really wanted to like Ginger Thai. I've eaten there several times, and have always left dissatisfied with their service. Last night was no exception. Now, usually they are busy, so I cut them some slack for being slow with ordering, tea refills...everything, but not last night. There was only one other table there, and they had their food already. The waitress comes to take our order, and never wrote anything down. Then of course my food comes out wrong. Like MAJORLY wrong. I don't eat meat, I ordered a dish without meat, and she brought me a plate full of chicken! When I said 'this isn't what I ordered' they never even apologized about their mistake. They gave me a new meal, but by that time, my husband was already finished with his. Even when they brought us our bill, they never apologized. Unfortunately, due to their crappy service, I will not be dining at Ginger Thai anymore. I'll still with Bangkok City or Royal Thai. read more

Can't find anything to complain about here. I've been here three times now, and food has been consistently good with quick friendly service. The location is great sandwiched between The Taco Joint and Lovers Pizza at Mockingbird/Abrams with plenty of parking. My typical coconut chicken curry dish is $6.95 and fills me up just fine. The special fried rice with chicken is among the best I've ever had. The spring rolls were fresh and tasty, and if you like things spicy like I do, ask for the spicy condiment tray with fresh thai chili paste, pepper flakes, jalapeno/serrano slices, etc. The place is very clean, with a well designed color/art scheme. It may not be cutting edge cuisine, but it's great food at a great price in a great location....what more can you ask for. read more

We came here for dinner soon after it opened at 5:00 p.m. We ordered chicken spring rolls, which were good, and lemongrass chicken, which was a lukewarm, watery, tasteless mess. And it apparently gave me food poisoning, since I experienced some unpleasant symptoms before we even arrived back home. The customer service was atrocious -- only 2 teenagers were working, 1 seemed to have her boyfriend there, and they spent all their time talking to each other and playing on their phones. Decided to give this place a try since my husband and I are fanatics of Thai food. We ordered edamame and two entrees, yellow curry and spicy peanut chicken. The food was good, it didn't take a long time to come out. We were enjoying it, it had good taste not too spicy, authentic Thai. While we were eating, we exchanged bites of food when we noticed a huge brown cockroach climbing down the wall, onto our table. It was terrible. Didn't finish our food. When I politely explained to the waitress about what happened, with another couple as witnesses, she simply said, "oh.." and proceeded to charge us for our plates. No, "I'm sorry," "that never happens here," nothing of that sort. I'm not sure if she didn't care or cockroaches are something normal in this restaurant to the point where she seemed unbothered, but it was gross, and unsanitary. Will not be returning to Ginger. I have traveled all over America, and I love Thai food. Ginger Thai is one of the best I've eaten at. Now...I don't eat curry, so I can't give any advice on that, but the spicy noodles with chicken cant be beat. The crab cream cheese is so light and tasty, you don't even need the dipping sauce (but don't miss out on that...fab!). If you become a regular...it is almost like Cheers.
