Well let me tell you that I took a chance on this place and ordered their "Yogi rolls" and I fell in love. I haven't been able to stop thinking about them since. They were that good. Completely vegetarian unless they lied to me. but somehow I doubt it. The atmosphere is low key, the servers are pleasant but I do see how one could get frustrated if they are in a hurry, thus they didn't get 5 stars from me. But trust me, I am not a fan of eating out because nothing tastes good to me anymore. My adult son was at the hospital around the corner from this place and I needed dinner, so I ran over to place an order to take home with me. It had been a stressful day and since they decided to keep him overnight, I needed comfort food - sushi! The atmosphere at 7pm on a Monday was calm and quiet. I sat at the bar to order. There were no tables occupied nearby, only further back, near the sushi bar. It took a few minutes for someone to stop visiting and come over to take my order. She was pleasant enough and smiled when I asked 'Are to-go drinks still a thing or was that just during covid'? She answered 'We can definitely get you a drink to go'. I did have to ask her to wrap it up - I didn't want to get pulled over with what they may consider an open container! Veronica offered sushi suggestions since I was hesitating, which I appreciated. I ordered the Philly $13, the Spider $12 and a cucumber martini $12 to wash it down. The prices are reasonable and average - and the quality of the sushi justifies it. The service isn't awesome. It seems unless you know the server, you are pretty invisible and that is the problem with many neighborhood places, they try so hard to keep the locals happy that they forget the passersby. The service here is incredibly slow! My coworkers and I came for lunch, and when we arrived, the restaurant was not busy--there was only one other party dining. As we walked in, two staff members were at the bar. One stepped away to assist the seated table, while the other just stood at the bar without acknowledging us. Once the first staff member returned to the bar, neither addressed us until we called out across the room to ask if we should seat ourselves. One of them casually replied, "Yes." Unfortunately, the service only got worse from there. Our server eventually came over, took our drink orders, handed us menus, and then left to sit with other staff members, turning her back to us. We had to call out across the restaurant again just to get her attention to place our order. The food was disappointing this time--not as flavorful as during my previous visit a few months ago. Don't order a cranberry mule. I did and instantly regretted it. First, it was not very cold. I could not taste any cranberry or ginger beer flavors. In fact, the entire beverage tasted like dirty dish water (if I could imagine that taste). The service was quite slow/poor. It appeared that only one server was working that night. Even the bartender was helping to serve food. Maybe that's why my cranberry mule tasted so awful. She was overworked . On nights when an eatery is short-staffed, I recommend that they don't open. I was hoping it would be a good experience as I live in the neighborhood. I've been once before. This time I called to see when the happy hour was, and it ended at six. We started out sitting at the bar and the Woman who appeared to be the manager on duty was running the bar and she was very shortstaffed. It took a while for her to get to us and by the time she did, she blurted out that we only had six minutes to order on happy hour. So I asked for a happy hour menu , I had a question, so I ordered a sushi roll, calamari and a drink. That's all I had, but I sat there with my two friends who ended up sitting at the sushi bar and ordering two all you can eat sushi $55, and several drinks each. We had separate tabs and when I got my bill, my sushi roll was full price at $17. I told her that mine had been on the happy hour menu and that's the only menu that I used and she told me that wasn't true. When she came back, I said it again but again she fought me on it. I didn't wanna cause a scene . I said that I had ordered everything off the happy hour menu and she said that my sushi roll was $17. I thought - well I don't want to cause a scene in front of my two friends who just spent about $200 +. So I thought I would leave a review and hope that the owner would see it and correct it. I love this place so much. I know a lot of people who would not give this place five stars and that really confuses me. I live in the neighborhood and love that we have a great sushi place in the neighborhood close by. The ambience is great and the outside patio is really nice, especially when there is good weather. Sometimes service can be slow, but the service providers are really friendly, amazing, and great conversationalists. So it makes up for the fact that they might be a little slow. The food is so good. We always love to order the edamame to start with. We love the Vegas role, the Casa linda role, the Nolan Ryan role, the El Jefe roll, the volcano roll, the rainbow roll, and the shrimp tempura roll. Their chicken or beef fried rice is good and all the soups they serve are delicious and filling. They have great drinks as well. Oh and I also love the panko shrimp! I also like to order their food to go, and the portion sizes are huge. As long as this restaurant will continue to exist in our neighborhood, I will continue to be a loyal patron. Gonna highly recommend the Happy Hour from 2:00pm - 6:00pm and also from 9:00pm to close. Tons of half price sushi, rolls, apps & cocktails. I had white tuna, albacore tuna, salmon sushi, a fish of the day hand roll and shrimp tempura rolls and all of it was soooooooooooo good. I want to start off by saying that this place use to be our go to place whenever we wanted to have some sushi and a drink close by. We would have family lunch here after church, it's has a good ambiance. Most recently I visited Yogi, sat at the bar to have dinner and drink in the middle of the week. To my surprise the owner yells across the bar to say if I had ear buds because apparently my phone was too loud. For those that have never been to Yogi, that's exaggeration because they have music playing loudly and sport game on. At this point I tell the owner I don't have any earbuds and he responds is well turn your phone off. At this point I'm annoyed and feel embarrassed that the owner would address the situation the way he did in front all the guest. I asked for my check and told the waiter that I would only pay for my eaten sushi and drink not the fried rice. The fried rice was recently brought out and didn't even touch it. The owner gave me a hard time and said I was paying for everything and I could take the food to go. I refused to pay for everything and the owner started arguing back and forth with me. I told him to call the police if he had to, guest started to leave and informed the owner that was unprofessional on his behalf to treat customers that way. At the point I didn't want to dine and dash so I ask the owner one final time what the ETA was for the police. I wanted to make things right but was only willing yo pay for what I ate, the owners response was do the right thing and pay your bill. As I stood up the waitress approached me and said I'm he said I can take off the rice. I paid my bill and told the owner, what a trashy customer he gave me. I was debating if I should post this review, but after analyzing everything this owner shouldn't get his community support his business. If dining in, then the food and service are passable - not horrible and not great - to be honest, nothing really stands out - however if ordering takeout, beware - the success rate for getting what you ordered is ~25%. The "owner/manager" everyone refers to here is Dan. Notorious for over the top belligerence, lambasting and cursing employees in front of guests, mysogynistic approach to women, generally killing ambiance, and doing all he can to run business off - he's been doing this for years in multiple establishments. Truthfully my girlfriend and I enjoy the food here and I believe the staff means well while struggling to earn a living in a caustic environment. And I wish I could support Yogis, but sadly when we come in my hope is that he's not there, and after the other night I've decided "enough is enough". We had a particularly tough day recently due to some extenuating circumstances, and decided to grab sushi on our way home to finally relax. Immediately upon sitting at the bar it was difficult to overlook Dan pacing around behind the bar, pursed lips and clenched jaw, speaking aggressively to staff members, and generally putting staff and guests on pins and needles. I ordered a drink from an obviously frazzled, half-attentive bartender, and we ordered some food, which in itself was a challenge as Dan was interrupting her as if nobody else was there. While we were in MID SENTENCE, ordering our meal, she literally dropped her note pad and pen in front of us, and walked away to take care of a tantrum prone boss - only to come back, clearly distracted, to finish our order. By the time our food came out we got up and switched seats to get away from Dan, who was now six feet away from us, cornering and yelling at a young server about an apparent guest issue that she was needing help with. As the young server tried repeatedly, and haplessly, to navigate through his barrage of heated questions he continued to position himself in her face with an aggressive physical stance, and we could easily hear him say several times to her "you need to calm the f**k down". No shame, no filter, zero professionalism - and my blood pressure going through the roof. I can't even imagine a conservative elderly couple sitting there and being exposed to this level of aggressive nonsense. Anyway we almost walked out before our food arrived, but thanks to my girlfriend we decided to stick it out. Frankly the food was good however by this point in time that was irrelevant ... we never really relaxed or enjoyed our visit, not even for a minute. As I said my strategy/hope has always been that he's not there when I visit the establishment and sadly this was the last straw - I won't risk it again and won't return. I've known his history for years, seen it first hand multiple times, and have never witnessed a more shameless, unqualified business owner in my life - sad, just really sad. read more

We enjoyed a few sushi roles and sat at the bar. It was late at night right before closing but we didn't feel rushed. The owner was serving us at the bar and was super cool and helpful in navigating the menu. They offer tons of sushi roll options as well as yummy looking appetizers. It's super clean and the staff were all friendly. We also enjoyed a couple servings of warm sake. Total bill was lower than expected! Disappointed would be an understatement. As a customer who used to frequent this restaurant once a week and spend a decent amount of time and money there, it truly saddens me to write this. Ever since they changed management/ownership, the energy and ambiance has completely changed. We have seen the gentleman "in charge" speak incredibly rude to his staff on multiple occasions - to the point where it made us uncomfortable enough to want to leave and the service has completely slowed down. A lot of the original servers are gone, which probably explains that. But after several months of trying, it hasn't gotten better and I have a feeling it has nothing to do with how kind and sweet the servers have been. The sushi chef and his crew are INCREDIBLE - anticipating your needs, remembering how frequent customers enjoy their food, and going above and beyond to make their end of the service as quick and seamless as possible.
