I was craving some ramen in the Pasadena area, so I yelped ramen and found that King of Ramen was new to the area. Located in a small shopping center, it was nice that I could easily find a parking spot. When I opened the door, I was immediately greeted and seated. This place is rather small with only a couple of tables, but it felt nice and intimate. I scrolled through some of the pictures on Yelp and though that the chicken curry dish looked more appetizing than the ramen. Once I got the curry, it looked and smelled great. I thought it was a little odd that they fry the chicken, then coat the chicken with curry on top. It would have been nice if the chicken wasn't fried. I wish that they brought out the side miso soup before the dish and not at the same time as the curry. In addition, when the lady brought a cup of water for me (I didn't ask), it was half full and without ice. I think she should have asked me what I wanted to drink first. Overall, it was a pretty good meal and reasonably priced. Next time, I would be tempted to try one of their ramen dishes. read more

Came 30 mins to closing on a Friday night. This place has like 6 tables so it's tiny but not a single table open. There were even other parties waiting for to go orders. They were willing to still seat us even close to closing. I ordered the veggie ramen and asked for it to be spicy. It came w toppings like fried onions, fried garlic at no extra charge. For other ramen like the more popular ones, it was another $.50-1.00 extra depending on the side order. The veggie ramen was great and I wasn't able to finish it! I was plenty full for the rest of the night and maybe thru the next morning. i will be back to try other dishes soon. I live in walking distance! Also pro tip- Parking lot gets full fast! & they just opened this year so their service isn't the best could definitely Improve. read more

So Pasadena, like everywhere else, has acquired a clutch of new Ramen restaurants. Tonight I sampled one at the bargain end. King of Ramen is really sparsely appointed. But I don't eat decor. I didn't even order ramen. I opted instead for a plate of karaage fried chicken with rice. It came out in fainter color than depicted on the menu. But the aroma was great! I'd never had karaage chicken before, so I have no point of reference. But I was very pleased with the whole meal. read more

100% would come here again. Got the spicy king ramen and service was great. Only pitfall parking absolutely sucks. This plaza has a lot of stores so be prepared to not get parking on the first go. read more

Excellent Ramen. Very traditional. They do serve beer and wine... in cans. Wish they'd just purchase big bottles of wine, as all the small hole in the wall restaurants on this corner do. It's extremely clean although a tiny kitchen. Great personnel. They do special dietary substitutions. Have no clue why Hell on Earth Who Can't Cook His Way Out Of His Bad Temper (I dare you to go to one of his places in Vegas without gagging) Gordon Ramsey is here! It ain't broke!! Ehhhh. The ramen here is real good. Especially the ramen soup/broth thing. Its not very strong tasting; which is good cause i can drink it easily without feeling my throat getting dry. Its refreshing. It reminds me of my mum's home cooking. It doesn't taste like a ton of msg was thrown in. The curry is really good and has popcorn chicken in it! ^_^ but i didn't know it was spicy mild. So let em know if you can't handle spice! Their service is real nice~ read more

On my lunch break from the studio and looked up Ramen in Pasadena. Found this place. Like whoa. King is located in a super unassuming strip mall, super low key decor, with a one sided menu. I ordered the spicy miso with corn and fatty chasu and fried pumpkin (they should really call it tempura fried, so fudging airy!!!) First off the portions are BIG. Chains give you charsui and you're like, did they really? This place piles on the pork. Ima make this short. I can't believe this place is in the little fucking strip mall. Saw it on yelp and decided to try it out since it's just few blocks away from my house . Order a spicy tonkatsu and gyoza . Flavor not bad and ramen cook just right . Portion size was ok except 2 slice of pork and gyoza $4 for 4 pieces .hmmmmm . How about 3 slices pork and 5 pieces gyoza ?? Will try out other dishes when I got a chance . Overall decent ramen . Parking could be a hassle during peak lunch time as this little square have limited parking and few restaurants sharing the lot . read more

I came here last night with my girlfriend. We were waited on by a lovely lady. I wish I got her name. She greeted us with a smile and was very kind. It made the experience very comfortable. Every week I need to get my King of Ramen fix. If you haven't been, then you're really missing out. Food is out of this world and it hits the mark every time. This is hidden gem that I always look forward to dining at and the world has to discover. It's a family owned business which makes it even better and their authenticity proves it. To top it off, they're super nice and make you feel like you're family. I don't often share my favorite places, but this is a place that shouldn't be a secret. read more

Superb service. Great food. Affordable. Upon getting seated, the staff was very attentive and friendly from beginning to end. She went out of her way to check up on us and gave helpful menu recommendations. I went for the spicy tonkotsu ramen ($9) with a side of karaage ($5). At this price, their portions are really big! The ramen was flavorful, rich, and had great balancing textures. If you like your food extra spicy, make sure to help yourself to their delicious homemade chili sauce thats at the very right corner of the store, where other condiments like sesame and pickled radishes are as well. The chicken was crispy yet tender, juicy, and didn't feel greasy. Overall, I recommend this place for its good price point, service, and great food. read more

I've had this place bookmarked for quite a while and decided to try it on a random weeknight with friends. It's a rather small place but we were one of the only tables there. Service was very nice, and they do have a DIY toppings and sides bar. I am always a fan of pickled veggies, so I was excited to see some. The pickled radish was a bit too sweet for my tastes though. I ordered the curry ramen, which was pretty decent. My friends agreed that their orders were okay but nothing to write home about. While quality is just okay, the portions are large, and quite reasonably priced. For the table we ordered the karaage and the fried pumpkin I saw so many reviews about. The karaage was delicious. Super crispy, hot, and flavorful. It comes with a side of Japanese mayo, which is the perfect dip. The pumpkin was good, but wasn't anything crazy. It also didn't really come with a sauce... or at least we had to ask for a ponzu sauce to go with it. I saw another review mention this as well but - this restaurant indeed does use a lot of disposable stuff! I would love to see this place move towards having more dishes and real silverware to be more ecofriendly. It would also really elevate the overall feel of the place! Overall, I can't see myself going out of my way for this place, but it is nice and convenient if you're close by and looking for a ramen fix. read more

Went here with a friend awhile back. It is so cheap yet so good! You get so much ramen for $10! I remembered to write this review because me and my friend went to another, more expensive ramen place recently. Just goes to show more expensive does not mean more tasty, because king ramen beat them out by a long shot. Great place! I'll come back again. read more

Interesting place that uses a lot of throw away containers. The water cups were cheap plastic cups, not a huge deal, but sort of wasteful. That and I watched 2 people spill their water in the short time I ate here. Since there's not a lot of weight to hold the cups down, you have to be careful. The "sauce" bar is a small area with some pickled daikon, house made chili sauce, shoyou, and chili flake. Which uses little plastic cups to take back to your table. The food. Karaage chicken curry with the curry on the side. It's basically S&B curry but runnier (or thinner) and less goodies in then one would probably make for themselves. Not bad. The chicken was not marinated or not marinated long enough so it was rather bland for karaage. But it's fried chicken, so ok there. Gyoza. Frozen and thawed and lighted seared and brought out in a paper to go type dish with wax paper. It's like they gave up trying with this. Not the worst I ever had, but why pay so much for 4 dinky pieces that I could buy a whole bag for. Unimpressed, but at least edible unlike some places I've been. Spicy ramen. Decent enough. I would try the regular tonkatsu if I come back. Pork is good and the extra add on's were nice. The eggs were marinated, but not for very long. So that was a little disappointing. But the broth and everything was good. It's a decent place for an ok price, but I feel like they could deliver so much more and better flavors with just a little more effort. read more

I had the miso ramen with fried pumpkin and my father had the tonkotsu ramen. Mine was perfect, the broth was not too fatty and the perfect amount of saltiness which I'm usually really picky about. The fried pumpkin was also amazing, just like my mom makes it at home :) the workers were very friendly and seemed happy to be there which gave it a positive vibe. it was ok. In a pinch i'd go back. I feel that the food was good but the pork in the ramen was not as good as it could be if it was done properly in the way that other ramen places do: the pork is supposed to almost melt as you eat it. I didn't think it was a major contender but it is a place I will go if i'm lazy and in the area. read more

So happy that they opened a restaurant in LA! I had stumbled upon their first restaurant in Spokane and it was literally the best ramen! So happy that I was able to hear that they had opened another one. Also, they have such great customer services. Went with a few friends in a late afternoon to avoid the lunch rush hour and we all ordered ourselves the #1 Tonkatsu Ramen, the Fried Tofu, along with the Karaage. Our overall thoughts: -Soup was very rich and flavorful -Noodles was al dente -Egg was perfectly cooked -Chasu was tender and not over cooked - both appetizers were very delicious and fresh Overall, one of my favorite togo ramen places now! Really fast and friendly service; the girl at the counter was happy to explain all the different options and differences between dishes to me. I thought the ramen was generously portioned and very tasty. The green tea came out so hot I couldn't drink it for half of the meal, but that was the only downside to my experience. There is a free water spout with cups in the corner by the napkins and condiments station, which was really nice, but they also have bottled if you want it cold. They have home-made pickled radishes and chili sauce in the corner as well that I hope to try next time I eat here. There is no restroom and soda is canned so no refills, but other than that this is a great ramen place. I will definitely be back read more

I'm afraid to tell people about this because it will get too crowded and then I'll never be able to get in. To begin with, it's a terrific little mom and pop restaurant in a strip mall on Colorado Blvd. The daughter even did the artwork on the walls. Everything is fresh. The ramen is perfect. You get a giant bowl of ramen at a perfect temperature with the right texture of noodles. The first time, I got the veggie ramen with a soft-cooked egg. It was perfect. Came here because another place was too crowded. Was seated immediately. Service was quick. Ramen noodles were thin and chewy. I had the spicy tonkatsu, my daughter had the king tonkatsu with miso. Me and my boyfriend have ordered our from here at least a half dozen times and are absolutely never disappointed! I've ordered the miso and king ramen, which is always amazing and in huge portions. He orders the chicken curry rice or yakisoba and it is always able to cut it into two meals. We ate inside for the first time today and had amazing service, the food was amazing as usual, and so fast. We ordered and had our food within 5 minutes. Never disappointed. Chicken Karage: 5/5 Really hits the spot. Perfectly crispy and has a nice dipping sauce on the side. I love ordering this on the side. Curry Ramen: 3/5 Perhaps I'm just not the biggest fan of this dish. I probably would have just enjoyed the rice version better. Decent portions and the curry was great but I think I don't enjoy it with ramen it was a bit dry. Overall i'll be back to try more. read more

Review is based out of take out order only. Menu is pretty simple. I ordered 2 ramens to go as well as a side of fried chicken. Service was prompt, my food was ready to pick up pretty quickly, and the packaging was good. Food was ok when we got home. I will try dining in the next time around! read more

Passed by the area and got hungry and looked at yelp for a place to eat. First time here, came to eat the chicken curry. It was very good! Chicken was juicy, got a little spice but not too much, and the amount was perfect! Lady at the front was really courteous and nice to me, I really liked that. Why are you not on your way to pick up ramen here!?!?!? This is on par with Tatsu, Tatsunoya, and Ramen of York with a wallet friendly price point. The folks here seem to be the owners and are excited and ready to serve you. If you live in the area do yourself and your community a favor and pick up food here to keep this place up and running. They will love you for it. This is now on my once a week eatery list!!! read more

Hey Marcy, the owner's mom is actually a vegetarian so they develop their own kombu based broth (no meat products whatsoever). We found out because my wife is a vegetarian and she loves this place! Hope this helps.

I ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen with charred tonkatsu, which was fantastic. The char on the pork added a wonderful smoky flavor that complemented the light, citrusy broth and noodles beautifully. My coworker ordered the Beef Curry and Rice with a Vegetable Korokke and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. One of the highlights of our visit was the Black Truffle Chawanmushi. It was absolutely divine! The silky steamed egg combined with shrimp, scallops, and the rich truffle sauce created layers of incredible umami flavor. Every bite was comforting, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. To share, we ordered the tofu and seaweed salad along with the garlic edamame. The garlic edamame is a must-order. The sauce was so flavorful that I honestly wouldn't mind eating a bowl of rice topped with just that garlic sauce. It was that good! Overall, the food was delicious, the service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out quickly. Sato Ramen House definitely left a great impression, and I look forward to coming back to try more dishes from their menu.

I can't speak for them, but I will say, if you order the tsukemen and find that you want more dipping broth, that will be an extra charge. Order a regular bowl of ramen if you do not plan to dip the brothless noodles into the broth for each bite. BF and I both tried the spicy tuna bowl ($7.95), chashu bowl ($8.95), and tonkotsu ramen ($15.95). The bowls are a little smaller than the ramen bowls and are a great option if you want a light meal without feeling super full. The tonkotsu ramen had a slightly rich broth that was flavorful and a decent portion of noodles. We opted not to order the ramen with the egg since we were also trying the rice bowls. King of Ramen kinda lives up to its name. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and was surprised to find it almost empty. We were greeted and seated right away by a super friendly lady, which was a nice start. The service is great here! What I ordered: Karaage (5/5): This was the highlight of the meal. Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The sauce it came with was unique and packed great flavor. Would come back just for this. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (3/5): Solid but forgettable. The broth had good flavor, but the chashu was a letdown, tough and bland. Compared to other ramen spots nearby, it didn't really stand out. Overall, King of Ramen is a safe bet. It is situated parallel to Sierra Madre Boulevard, with other boutique stores and food establishments, this is a large complex which includes Von's as the primary foundation store. When I was there, they had a menu on a stand located outside the entrance. When I walked in I was greeted with a friendly hello and guided to the customer service counter by the aroma of food cooking in the kitchen. I explained that I needed help ordering, as there were so many items to choose from. I explained that I'd like to try some of their most popular items. I was given a lot of options by two staff members. I believe their names were Emily and Heidi working on the computer. I decided to order five items. I knew it was too much to eat but there was a holiday coming up and I wanted to have extra food that would be easy to warm up. 1 x#95.charbroiled Pork Sw - #95. It made it very easy for me to carry while walking. Items were packed individually, making it easy to put together the different dishes when I got home. The pork sandwich was very good. I enjoyed the fresh greens as well as the tender pork. The spring rolls were a salad wrapped in rice paper. Plenty of fresh greens and vegetables with an enjoyable House made dipping sauce. Just a secret that you should know ahead of time: these are not small spring rolls. Each spring roll is almost a complete meal. The chicken wings were cooked perfectly and the spicy greens surrounding them made it a perfect combination. The House Special Soup #1 was a great combination of a flavorful broth with perfectly cooked meat. This is definitely an enjoyable a dining experience. I was very happy that I had ordered it spicy. The flavors and the spice of the broth were a perfect accompaniment to the meat sprouts and greens that were added. The #17 the char-broiled chicken and rice was a perfect combination. The chicken pieces were filled with flavor. Great combination with the rice and the additional sauces. I added some sriracha from one of the packets to give it a little bit more kick for me. Next time I will order it extra spicy. Very impressed with Pasadena Noodle and Grill , there are plenty of other items that I was interested in trying, so I look forward to coming back to experience other items on their extensive menu. I even look forward to mixing and matching the items that I bring home with the different flavors and ingredients, since all of them are fresh and flavorful. Variety, quality, and friendly service. There's limited seating but I haven't seen it too busy the times I've gone. Each curry dish that contains a protein (or veggie) is about $20, and the ones that don't contain a protein are about $15. They have a limited number of workers but the food doesn't take too long to come out. I do feel like their menu options have dwindled in the past few years, and sometimes they are sold out of/don't have some of their menu options available. The taste of the curry is nice, and has a nice blend of spices. I think their protein options are good as well, and I like their house spice blend. I think the portion size is also fair. I just don't feel like it's worth $20 a dish. If each protein-containing dish were $15, I'd have given this place four stars. There are several parking structures nearby--we always park at the Schoolhouse garage and walk over.

Well worth it. The ordering process was really simple. They'll call your number over the loud speaker so you don't have to be near the restaurant and can wait at your table. The katsu was crispy, though I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had--but it was still very good. I was satisfied with the meal and couldn't even finish it, so I had to take the leftovers home. This is a solid spot in Arcadia if you're craving katsu.

Last night, I finally decided to give Kwan Kitchen a try, and I'm so glad I did because everything was delicious. We started with the Chicken Satay, which was incredibly flavorful, tender, and juicy. If I had one minor critique, I would have loved a little more char on the chicken--but that's purely a personal preference. It was still absolutely delicious. Honestly, just thinking about it now is making my mouth water all over again. We also ordered the Shrimp Sticks, which had a perfectly crispy exterior with a large, juicy shrimp inside. They were cooked really well and made for a great appetizer. The restaurant itself has a cozy atmosphere. The music is kept at a low volume, making it easy to enjoy a conversation with your dining companions. One thing to note is that it stays pretty cool inside, so if you tend to get cold easily, I'd recommend bringing a light jacket. The servers were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hospitality made it feel like you were a guest in someone's home rather than just another customer in a restaurant. For my entrée, I ordered the Pad See Ew. I didn't realize you could customize the spice level, so I ordered it with no spice to get a feel for the base flavor. Looking back, I think I should have gone with the mild spice level. The dish leaned a little sweeter than I prefer, and I think just a touch of heat would have balanced the flavors and added a bit more depth. Again, that's completely based on my personal preference. The portion size was generous, and the ratio of meat, egg, and noodles was exactly what I'd expect from a good Pad See Ew. The table next to us ordered the Chicken Wing Zaap, and I have to say--it looked exactly like the picture displayed in the front window. It smelled incredible, too, which immediately went onto my list for next time. Will I be coming back? Absolutely. I was concered that the crab would be old but nope, it was fresh and all the flavors were at the right levels. We asked for medium but it was a little on the spicy side. The yellow curry we had medium and that was the perfect level of spiciness.
