Since 2006 I have been a frequent guest at Ginos East in Wheaton. Clearly I wouldn't continue to return to the restaurant if I didn't absolutely love the food, but this location has something more. The service, though usually well above average, has not always been perfect, but when mistakes are made they are ALWAYS set right by management. This is something that I cannot stress the importance of enough. In the restaurant industry, people will always make mistakes. It is how these mistakes are handled that show the true measure of an establishment, and at Ginos east Wheaton the staff seems honestly concerned and ready to help with anything their customers bring to them. Pizza was good but customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. Called in my pizza order at 330 pm today and was told it'd be ready in 30 minutes. Perfect since I got off work at 4 and was planning on picking it up on the way home. Arrive at restaurant at about 410 and paid for it. Waited a few minutes and asked young moron behind the counter where my pizza was. He said it'd be a few more minutes. Said ok and went to my car to make a quick phone call. Came back in 10 minutes later and asked if the pizza was ready. Said it wasn't so I asked to speak to the manager. Some unprofessional looking and acting young woman with purple lipstick came out and said she was the manager. I asked why the pizza I called in almost an hour ago wasn't ready yet. Instead of apologizing and fessing up that someone screwed up, she copped a bad attitude and said the pizzas don't come off an assembly line and take time to make. She tried to make me feel like I was wrong for questioning the extra 30 plus minutes it is taking to make my pizza. Rudest person I have ever come across. We buy from this restaurant regularly for the past 6 years but after this I won't be going back. No apology or apathy. Real B**ch attitude. Try hiring for professional customer service oriented employees rather than the first breather that walks through the door. There are a lot of options out there to give our business to who won't treat you like this. Do not give this restaurant your business if you want to be treated professionally. read more

Ordered pickup... our pizza was burnt and cold. The chicken wings were over cooked and cold.. we get there to pay and they tell us it's marked for a delivery so they have to get the manager. How can it be delivery with no address?? The manager comes over says nothing and walks away. Comes back and says we're just waiting on your chicken wings and then you're all set... but he literally picked up our chicken wings and checked our pizza and then walked away looking for the wings..? We ask the five kids standing at the counter what the problem is, the wings are right here and they all just say I don't know and stand there. Clearly the manager is such an asshole that no one wants to correct him. Poor kids having to deal with such an idiot. Finally we are cashed out and as we are walking out of the restaurant, the manager starts yelling at some other poor kid in the front. Poor customer service, get rid of that manager. He clearly does not know what he's doing or how to treat his customers or his employees with any respect. Fire him and hire someone who will look at a burnt pizza and refuse to serve it.. and won't treat his staff like shit. If I could give negative stars I would. $35 worth of food wasted that went straight to the trash. What a shame. read more

Honestly if I could give it 0 stars I would. I have had Gino's East for the past 7 yrs when I lived in Chicago . But this location has some of the dumbest employees I have ever had to speak with over the phone. All I wanted was to order pizza. The first person who answered the phone didn't and couldn't speak English well enough and shouldn't be answering the phone in the first place . His ass should be back up in the kitchen or delivering. The second person who gets on the phone can't even take down a phone # that he asked for. I try to proceed with my order and because my family has celiac we have to have gluten free. Unfortunately you only get 2 options to choose from . Are you fucking kidding me ? That is BS . In the city I never had this issue . So I ask to speak to a manager and this asshole is stuttering when I ask questions about ingredients and there deep dish. WTF ? And your manager . I know that me and my family aren't the only people with this allergy in this area I have been to a variety of places out here that offer a variety of gluten free options. All this BS for a fucking pizza. If you don't want to service people with celiac or who can't eat gluten you should state that on your website and on yelp . That way people like us can take our business to someone who doesn't mind preparing food for someone who has this condition. read more

Probably the worst pizza I have ever had. We ordered a Chicago style supreme pizza without peppers while we waited to be seated. Exactly 45 minutes later we get the pizza with peppers. One person in our party is highly allergic to bell peppers and could not eat it and immediately ordered a meatball sandwich. We proceeded to eat the pizza while one of our party waited for their food. The pizza had been frozen and heated in the oven. The crust was dry, flavorless and the pizza was lukewarm in the middle. 15 minutes after we had our pizza,the meatball sandwich showed up, it was barely warm. The service was adequate with an inexperienced server. They offered to cover the cost of the pizza as it was the wrong order without us asking. However if you are looking for great hot food this is not the place for you. As I said they were generous to cover the cost of the pizza, but it doesn't make up for the fact that it had been frozen and passed off as fresh made. My family and I visited this Gino's for a special occasion. We have eaten at the Chicago downtown location, and it is a favorite of ours. However, we were HUGELY disappointed with the pizza here. It tastes nothing like the pizza that we have had in the city. In fact, I have to wonder if they use the same recipes. The crust, instead of having that wonderful light and almost buttery consistency was thinner, hard and dried out, almost to the point of being burned. It was crunchy and tasteless. There was not as much sauce on the pizza either, with the effect being very dry, and with a significant lack of flavor compared to what we have had before. I sincerely wished that we had heated one of their frozen pizzas from the grocery store because they are much better than this. We will not plan to head back to this location ever. I am only grateful that this wasn't our first experience with Gino's East, or I would never try it again; or that we hadn't brought out of town guests here, bragging about our wonderful Chicago style pizza, because I would have been emabarrassed. I am surprised that Gino's doesn't police their quality control any better than this, because I think they could really lose some business based on the enormous difference in their product between these two locations. read more

Best deep dish pizza! Been a fan of Gino's for many years. Love everything about their pizza. If you order carryout from this joint, you need to ask them to cut it. Tried a special they offer on Monday and Wednesday nights, a large deep dish or a extra large thin crust with one topping and a 2 liter Coke for $17.99 which is a great price. Shared the pizza with another person and I still have leftovers and it still is good when reheated for about 20 minutes in the oven. Wish this place was closer or at the very least had a location again in Naperville. Will definitely go back for this special. The only drawback was when I went to get the order, the place was empty, one thing that was missing was the tumbleweed rolling across the dining room. Other people were in the back waiting for carryout orders. Was there about 6 PM on a Wednesday. Not much in the way of parking since this place is in downtown Wheaton, so you may have to walk a bit to get there. if you have had deep dish, you can't go wrong with Gino's, I tend to stay away from Malnati's since their crust is tasteless and they always get good press for their so-called best deep dish. I have had it twice and Gino's is far superior. read more
