Had one of their lunch specials today. There was one guy at a table when I walked in and when I walked out, he was still there. Three giggling women came in to pick up a takeout order. Other than myself, that was the sum total of customer transactions during my lunch stop. For $5, I had a can of soda and 2 slices of cheese pizza. Very poor pizza- little sauce, weird tasting cheese, average crust. The pizza was very undistinguished, it gave mediocrity a bad name. Another reviewer used the word "bland" and she hit the bullseye with that word. I've made better pizzas with homemade crust and a jar of Prego. I've driven past this place for years and years and never stopped in until today. I should have kept my streak intact. At least it was cheap.

The price for their lunch special is good: 2 slices and a drink for $5. The taste was...meh. Average at best. I'm a price sensitive consumer but I would say it was pretty mediocre actually. If cost is the sole factor upon which food decisions are made this is a good value.

I really wish I could give this place a half star, or no star at all. I ordered a grinder for lunch, face to face in the restaurant; and they still messed up my order. How difficult is it to just add lettuce and tomatoes after the grinder comes out of the oven?!!! Needless to say I didn't eat it. I called to tell them I'll be there for a refund, and they proceeded to tell me they'll make me another one because they won't refund me my money. I spoke with the manager and informed him that I didn't want it, and I want my money back. He said FINE!!!!, bring in the grinder and you'll get your money. So that's what I did. There were two slices of thinly sliced ham and they call that a grinder. Look at the pics. Don't go here. It's not worth the money or hassel. They don't serve good food. My order came with a 25 cent bag of chips that I ate. They charged me 80 cent for it!!!! If you don't believe how bad it is, see for yourself. You'll be sorry you didn't listen. The food is not good at all.

Another horrible place. Burnt pizza that looked frozen and black smoke from dirty fryer oil.

Walking inside, the vibe is cool, relaxed, and full of pizza nostalgia. There are nods to Hartford pizza history throughout the space, but what really catches your eye are the hydroponic gardens suspended above the dining room. Fresh basil is growing right over your head and eventually finds its way onto the pizzas. That's a pretty neat touch. The best way I can describe Hartford Pizza Garden is this: it's like the Town Green in Pizza Heaven. They've got New Haven-style, Grandma, and Detroit pizza all under one roof. I started with the New Haven red pie. Nice crunch, plenty of flavor, and a beautiful bake underneath. The sauce is bright, bold, and tomato-forward with Parmigiano and fresh basil added after the bake. The sauce isn't over-seasoned, allowing the tomatoes to take center stage and do what they do best. Next up was the Grandma pie. Thicker than the New Haven pie and built upside-down style. The sauce and cheese complement each other perfectly. The crust was soft and pillowy with a crunchy underside that kept me reaching for another slice. Then came the Detroit. The thickest of the three with a beautiful open crumb. Soft, tender, and sturdy enough to support all the toppings. Same excellent sauce, loaded with cup-and-char pepperoni. The crispy pepperoni adds great texture against the soft base. And that frico along the edge? Yes please. The fried cheese crust paired perfectly with the pepperoni and added another layer of crunch and flavor. A couple of other customer favorites are the Taco Pizza and the Shepherd's Pie Pizza. Unfortunately, I ran out of room before I could tackle those. There are limits to my talent. If you're looking for a spot that offers three distinct pizza styles, a fun atmosphere, and some serious attention to detail, Hartford Pizza Garden is worth a visit. The Slice Mob will definitely be back.

I think the vibe here is more of a just come in and eat good pizza, simple or take it home! Never had Detroit style pizza before so I ordered a slice of the sausage, I wasn't too crazy about it, the cheese seemed off to me but I still ate it. Now the New Haven style fig pizza (I added bacon) was absolutely delicious. The combination of sweet and salty flavors was delightful. The crust was a little on the chewy side but overall I would come back here for this pizza. As a New Havener, never thought I'd recommend a pizza joint in the 860 but I say def give it a shot!!!

Great Happy Hour Value with Crispy Pizza and Strong Cocktails…read more Stopped by Sparrow Pizza for Happy Hour on a weeknight with a few co-workers and was impressed by the value. The $7 cocktails were well made, and the sliders and 6-inch personal pizzas were all enjoyable. The pizza had a nicely crisp crust, while the roasted cauliflower was a standout--still juicy, not overcooked, and finished with a drizzle of sriracha. A solid spot for an affordable after-work meal and drinks. Would recommend.

Happy hours 3:30-6 M-F To start I got the red sangria ($7 during HH) which was okay however it had a hint of ginger which I personally did not like . So then I tried the white sangria and that was very good . For happy hour they offer an option of different sliders ( 1 for $6 for HH) I tried the chicken slider which was amazing highly recommend my friends loved the caprese and the regular beef sliders all were amazing can't go wrong . I personally don't recommend the HH pizza it's just too small I recommend just getting the regular size honestly . The chips for happy hour are great for sharing they give you plenty for just $3 ! Overall great time , good service ( though it did take a little while to get our food ) , great atmosphere ( and on weekend they do have a Dj at night which is fun )

I was impressed by Chef/owner Dante's resume, love many of the places he's cooked and the pizzas mentioned on their website. At this point, I had built up extremely high expectations, and I can honestly say they were more than met. Everyone was super helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was casual but inviting and comfortable. Perfect vibe for enjoying a good pizza. I ordered one pie for myself to enjoy there, and another to go to bring to family. They were extremely accommodating with that and brought the to go pizza over to me as I was finishing up. Now for the pizza. I went with the "my way" as it is the owner's recommendation for first timers. It is a red pie with light mozzarella, basil, parm, and generous olive oil. The dough is the star, but the olive oil makes it. I loved the light cheese, too. It really satisfied me, and I often have to pass on pizza with how heavy it can be. This was perfect. I brought the "Danielle's" pie with added pork to family and they thought it was terrific and were impressed by how well the pork traveled and how moist it still was. It was a fabulous first experience overall.
