Bulgogi for 2
Kimberly C.

Friday 6:30pm Party of 2 We were seated right away. Ordered bulgogi, rice, and salad. Everything was delicious. Diet coke and water to drink. Excellent service.

Located in Waikiki, we walked here for the touristy shopping area. The set meal for 2 cost around $95, but it can easily serve 3 persons as I had left overs for dinner the next day. Bonchon was nice and I liked the tofu soup. The spicy if level of tofu soup was a little weak, like 2 out of 10 spicy but it's ok, they don't want to offend any taste buds. There were many choices for soju and we for a pre-mixed mango soju $22 which could have served 3-4 people. Great place to have Korean bbq!

Other than the alley where it's located which wasn't bad it's just not easy to see when walking on the street the place was very nice looking inside. The staff was so attentive and efficient the entire time it was already a pleasure being here. The bbq was just too delicious. All the sides and everything was very tasty. We enjoyed the entire experience here. Honestly we were waiting across the street for the Japanese bbq and when we saw this place we got curious so went to check it out and the clients coming highly recommended it they were sooo right. We made the right move in coming here.

Yukgaejang

Stopped by dinner with my family. My parents wanted eat Korean and searched near my hotel area. Took Uber go there and it took only 7mins to got there. Ordered yukgaejang and seafood pancake and hot ston bibimbap. Yukgaejang(1/5)-really disappointed. I never eaten like this Yukgaejang tasted before. Definitely I wouldn't recommend Seafood pancake(2/5)-you don't have to eat with soy sauce. Enough salty. Hot ston bibimbap(3/5)-it's ok than other food which was we ordered. If I travel to Honolulu again would not back to this place again. Maybe we ordered wrong food but I wouldn't go back. Service was ok and not pretty clean place.

Banchan - the "salad" was amazingly delicious!

This is a small place, 8 or 9 tables. We arrived for an early dinner and were sat right away but by the time we were done all the tables were full and there were people waiting outside (Sunday night). They brought a lettuce "salad," which was surprisingly good and 3 sides, one of which is kimchi. Usually there is more banchan at a Korean place but I didn't really miss them. Our meal was DELICIOUS. We had the marinated short ribs (super yummy though a bit fatty), the plain soondubu (which does not have kimchi, btw) and the vegetable dolsot bibimbop (it's not vegetarian, fyi). They also brought lettuce and bean paste for the meat (OG lettuce wraps!). We also had 2 bottles of soju. We had a very enjoyable experience and service was also excellent. It's away from the Main Street and places, but not far. It's right next to a tiny karaoke bar.

Came here about a week ago and ABSOLUTELY loved it. I've had my share of KBBQ, and this place definitely stands out. To start, the service was great - everyone was super friendly and they even gave us a list of recommendations to check out while we were on the island! We came for dinner (around 5:30 PM) and were seated quickly. We ordered the 2-person $95 deal. For our meats, we got kalbi, brisket, and garlic shrimp and the raw beef bibimbap. The stars of the show for me were the bibimbap - truly perfect with great seasoning and the perfect ratio of rice to veggies - and the garlic shrimp, which were huge! The shrimp were SO garlicky and paired well with all the banchan. I also liked how you get lettuce to wrap the meat in! The brisket was a great cut as well and was thicker than other kinds I've had in the past. Can't go wrong with the kalbi either! Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. It's a family-owned spot with great food and great people!

First time trying this place and we love it. The food was delicious! The hot stone bibimbap was delicious and the staff mixed it for me. We also ordered spice pork. It was delicious. Best customer service. The staff was friendly. I will definitely recommend this place

Been coming here for years every time never disappointed. Both intimate for small parties and for larger groups as well. Call in advance for larger group prices are reasonable comparable to others but food much better and service much more intimate and friendly. Family owned for 27 years , been coming for the last 15yrs. Just down the alley can't miss it !

Best Korean BBQ I've ever had, I travel to the islands for work and it's the place I go almost every night for a good meal, great service and the best quality meats that are so tender and perfectly seasoned! Paul is fantastic and always attentive, kind and prompt. Love this place, can't say enough good things about the quality of food at Ginza Won.

Horrible service and a very dirty place. Which I guess is expected since it's in an alley.

The food was not bad at all. My family finished it all. The place is not one of those fancy places but the food is great!

Wish I could give zero star. Don't come if you don't order BBQ. We wait for more than 30 mins and get nothing. Poor serice.

Taste wise the meat jun with the sauce was not sweet. But I enjoyed it regardless. The quantity was great! Along with the unlimited banchan I was a happy camper that got to take extras home. Service: Great! I called 2 hours beforehand on a Friday for a reservation for a party of 8 + a baby stroller and they accommodated us wonderfully. They also allowed us to split the check at the register by items. They gave e water as needed as well. Atmosphere/Ambiance: Casual. Where you feel you can go into after a long day and have a good meal. Would I go back again? Yes. :) My only regret was that I ate my food and enjoyed the company I was with, forgetting about taking photos for this review.

So Gong Dong Restaurant has…read morebeen my favorite lately for my SoonDuBu fix, ever since having lunch here with a Yelp friend, I've been back with the hubby, momma, sister and other friends. I really enjoy the Korean comfort foods! 4 stars for the food, soups, and ban chan, 5 stars if the service was great. Typical service you will get at a Korean spot but no complaints. Just gotta be patient for ban chan refills or if you need anything else, I don't expect much just happy that I get to have my Korean food. During this recent Saturday visit, I decided to go here for our late lunch, after hiking Koko Head Trail & Makapuu. It was about 4:30 pm, we were the only ones there, but it filled up pretty quick an and they do have many take out and Uber/Door Dash orders. My favorites here are the combo set, choice of soondubu (combination, kim chee, spam, beef, sausage, clam,) & either meat jun, fried mandoo, bulgogi, yellow corvina, seafood jun, or BBQ chicken. The combo use to be $20.55 my first time but now went up to $23.55, hence the increase, it is still a great deal, this meal comes with rice and 5 different ban chan. This combo was more than enough for the both of us. My favorite is the spam soondubu ( yes. who picks Spam right?! hehe) & the seafood Jun. Although it so hard to decide since all the choices are good, I will have to visit again for the other selection. The other half and I cannot eat an entire combo set by ourselves. I love the ban chan, especially the daikon & kim chee, so fresh and crispy! When I first dined here, I was surprise to see they give you a fresh egg to crack in your soondubu soup, I am use to the egg already in there. We always have leftover soondu soup which I take home and add to my Korean ramen the next day, so good! Support this local mom & pop restaurant, So Gong Dong has been around for the longest time just only recently I've discovered it. I will be back for the next Korean soondubu, ban chan fix!

If you're doing take out, they still give you all of the banchan!v We did dine-in but take out / online orders seemed popular. But I loved dining in because of the Ajumma here! She was so sweet and funny, and even made the perfect bite (radish kimchi on top of the meat jun, so the acid offsets the oily fried jun) and fed it to my boyfriend LOL. We got a ton of food! The seafood soondabu soup, seafood korean pancake, seafood bibimbap, meat jun, and zucchini jun. We had a lot of leftovers that we took home. The tofu was silky soft and fresh, soaking up all the flavor from the broth. The lunch set is a great value--you get soondubu bubbling hot, rice, and banchan that were all solid and well-seasoned. Portions were filling without being heavy, which makes it an ideal lunch option. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out fast even during lunch hours. This is definitely one of those places you crave when you want something warm, satisfying, and comforting. I'll absolutely be back for this again.

The brisket and beef belly (toro) were my favorites, super flavorful and cooked perfectly. It doesn't come with salad, egg, or soup, but you still get a solid KBBQ experience with just meat and banchan. If you're looking for something simple and satisfying, this is a great deal. For the meats, the beef brisket and beef toro were the stars, but the beef chuck was slightly tough and dry. They were also out of bulgogi, which was disappointing. The pork had a really strong boar taint smell/taste, which completely turned me off from ordering any of the pork. We had to ask for more meat and banchan refills multiple times. There was usually a pretty noticeable lag before anything came out, which was frustrating for an AYCE spot. They also seemed to be selective about which banchans they would refill. They would bring more of the dishes like kimchi and cucumber, but when we asked for more tuna mac, they wouldn't give us any. It also looked like there were only two people working while there were probably around 10 tables during the Tuesday lunch rush, so I do think they were understaffed. If you're offering AYCE, the refills and service should flow a lot more smoothly. It felt like they were paying more attention the tables that selected a higher tier of AYCE. Not a terrible experience, but definitely not as seamless or enjoyable as I was hoping for.
