    Chicken pesto
    Nick P.

We decided to try this location. We ordered one appetizer (calamari and more), one deep dish (meat and more meat), and one Chicago tavern style (chicken pesto). The deep dish has pepperoni, sausage, salami, and bacon. The Chicago tavern style has chicken, pesto, and tomatoes. The calamari and more appetizer was decent but I'm not sure it was worth $14. For the price, they could have given us more. The deep dish was pretty good if you like these kinds of pizzas. The crust was flaky and required little chew. The main part is very cheesy and they do not skimp on the meat. The Chicago tavern style was very crispy and that pesto sauce gives it a herby and garlicky taste. Pesto pairs well with the chicken and tomatoes. The service was average. I would have liked our server to be more attentive like fill our glasses of water without us saying anything. Overall, it's a 4 out of 5 for me.

A staple in Northern Illinois! This was second time and Giordano's and my second time getting the Toasted Italiano (hold the veggies). Both times it was very oily. I've had to dab the oil off before eating it both times. I even put the vinaigrette on the side to dip the sandwich in lightly to limit the oiliness of it than if it would've came on the sandwich. Besides the oiliness, the sandwich is delicious! The house salad didn't come with dressing? Wasn't sure if that's normal or just a fluke on my order. My boyfriend got the Chicken Caprese Melt and hated it and he's not picky like me. He said the flavor was not good, too heavy on the vegetables and pesto. It was also way too oily. The broccoli cheddar soup was good. Our waiter was kind and brought us everything we asked for and more. Though the restaurant is always busy, I feel like you can usually find a table outside the city (the city's Giordano's was an unreasonable wait!).

If you've never been, then you should go because of the name, and its longevity in Chicago. It isn't as great as it used to be, but still good if you want some deep dish! I was there for me birthday weekend, and had to go since it's been years. So, beer, and pizza, and football. It was a good evening. A family was celebrating a birthday party as well, and offered me a slice! Awesome!! Service was good, and the place was clean, and decorated pretty cool.

This is how our pizza got delivered!

Sadly, this is how our pizza got delivered! I called giordanos to complain about how our pizza got delivered and they offered to replace it but would have to wait another 45-50 minutes so i agreed but then decided to give a call back and tell them i can just use a credit for next time... which by the way ... the manager didn't want to speak with me for some reason and only told the employee to tell me they would give me a $8.00 credit... like seriously! I guess i will get 8.00 back after throwing 50.00 to the garbage!

Bad service! Small deep dish Pizza was supposed to be ready in 40min. After 57 minutes I'm obviously hungry and upset cause no one came to provide any update to our table. I proceed to go up front counter to ask the status of our small deep dish pizza and waitress said she would go verify and of course after 1 hour and 4 min waiting the manager comes to our table and basically said we were forgotten and our order slip is no where to be found!! Now we have to wait an additional 15 min, if we want the pizza? I'm a PIZZA FANATIC but I will never ever EAT here again! Wait is extraordinary ridiculous. Worst part is I have a 14 hour drive trip and am now 2 hours behind! Thanks for that! On a positive, note they did say the small deep dish pizza was on the house(free) we would have to pay for the other food and drinks we ordered. What a shame!

First time in Chicago and had to get here to try the deep dish pizza! I'm a pizza fanatic and this deep dish pizza was nothing short of amazing! We also had a thin crust pizza and that was good as well! The calamari my sister ordered wasn't all that but I didn't expect it to be amazing at a pizza place. We ordered cheese bread and that was really good! I enjoyed it overall and it has a nice old time vibe with the decor and style in the restaurant.

Sorry, but just not a fan of Giordano's. Calamari and More - Skip it. Bland and too many fillers of those other things not calamari. We used all the marinara sauce and still had leftovers. Sausage, Mushroom & Onion Deep Dish Pizza - Eh! Even my guy wasn't happy about it. The crust was hard, like it was over/under kneaded or something. We decided to just take the leftover calamari to go and asked for some more marinara and she said she would have to charge us a $1 for it. The heck! Two stars because our waitress was okay.

What happened to the food portions? I ordered the family platter chicken parmesan and it looked like a regular size and it's in a box now? Let's just say I will not be buying this size again as it drastically was less than the previous portions bought. Very disappointed. Hardly any pasta in the box. Ugh

Normally I hate those kinds of large group dinners, but this was the perfect spot for it. The service was absolutely wonderful. I don't know how our server stayed so cool and calm with a group that size. We got a variety of things. EVERYTHING was amazing. If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. With fabulous house made red sauce that wasn't too thick and overwhelming. The flavor was A+ The cocktails were so good! All made from scratch with love. The ambiance was cozy and comfortable. Perfect for a group or a date. They have a full bar, and also great seating with perfect lighting. This is a new favorite for me in the city.

We had visited Florence last year, and one of the numerous wonderful moments of our trip to Italy was seeing "Il Porcellino" - the lucky bronze boar fountain that draws tourists from around the world. A copy of the boar stands proudly near the entrance of the restaurant, and though it is not as old as the original 1634 sculpture, it was a charming reminder of our amazing Italian holiday. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot. Even though we were merely dining at the bar, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. There are lots of photos on the walls, interesting lighting from the ceiling, nice serving dishes, and servers who seem to know who their regular diners are. We look forward to returning to Il Porcellino, to bask in that indescribable feeling of being in Italy again.

It's one of those places that you find yourself talking about long after the meal is over. The garlic bread alone is worth the visit. They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. Reservations are released 21 days ahead of time, which I personally find impossible to make. Every time I've checked over the last several years there have been no availability. Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.
