The restaurant opens at 11:00am, but you're able to place an online order to have your pizza ready at exactly 11:00am. How cool is that? I ordered a small Meat and More Meat Deep Dish, which had pepperoni, salami, sausage and bacon. Three of us were able to get full off of the small and we even had a little left. Was in Chicago for the weekend and had to try deep at one of the original locations. I understand that this is sort of a national chain but its still very good. Ordered the special deep dish with added pepperoni (sausage, onion, green peppers) as well as a side of wings. Shared it with a female friend of mine. We cleaned out all the food but we were very very full. Deep dish was absolutely delicious. But I would not say the best. I however can't compare to the other big name places or the other Giordano's in other states. However I can say it was better than the premade slices you can get from the art of pizza. Again the already cooked slices are probably a little different in quality so hard to compare. The buffalo wings were crispy in the outside, tender on the inside, and nicely dipped in sauce. A work colleague and I had finished a business trip to Michigan City, Indiana and we drove back to Chicago for our respective flights home the next day. Actually, I was going to Des Moines for the weekend to visit my Parents, and Jeff was heading back to Northern California. After checking in at the nearby Hampton Inn, we separately asked for restaurant recommendations and pretty much got the same response (word for word) from 2 different front desk staff. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers, especially since we didn't want to get in the car, Giordano's is one of the Chicago Deep Dish Pizza chains that some people swear by. And so much so that cross-country delivery is available. We ordered cheese and spinach, with a starter salad, and a few glasses of Goose Island beer. It was all delicious and with enough left over for another meal over the weekend. I came to this location from my hotel with a Starbucks in hand; I work in the airline industry so nights and days can get mixed up. We live on coffee. I was NOT welcomed by a lady who is the manager of the store with a nasty temperament. She would not seat me because I had an "outside drink".... An almost finished Starbuck's coffee. I would understand if that was a policy and she was kind, but that was not the case. She was by all means unwelcoming and unkind. I was going to give Giordano's a try because I'm a HUGE Lou Malnati's fan, but I won't be doing so because of her. I was kindly greeted at Lou Malnati's with my coffee and this is where I'll stay. We stopped at this Giordano's location right next to Midway airport for lunch before boarding our flight home. Our server Jackie was very friendly and attentive, and provided great service. We didn't try the pizza; my son had Chicken Parmesan with pasta and I had the Chicken Parmesan sandwich and both were really good. However......the calamari was, to be blunt, a rip off. About a third or more of the serving was deep fried lemons! Who does that?! Then came the pizza. Even though I've been here twice, I'm only doing the rating for last night. A friend of mine and I frequent this location when she has layovers for a bite to eat. So she ordered the pizza online and we tell the location that we would like to dine in to save time. Being that it takes 45 minutes for a pizza to be cooked. It's a life saver. So when the table was ready, I was informed that because it was an online order I had to pay upfront for the pizza before we were seated. I was also told that we had to order something at the table as well. It was no biggie because we do this all the time when my friend has these quick layovers. I paid and was seated. All this time the waitress for our section kept going by me and not saying a word. So 20 minutes has went by and not 1 time did the waitress come over and see if I wanted anything to drink, apps, or anything. Then when she finally comes over and asks about our drink orders, we ask about the pizza. She informed us that the pizza wasn't paid for and that they told her that we didn't pay for it. I had to show her the receipt which clearly someone wrote paid on it. The pizza was delicious as they always are, but this location's customer service skills def need to be upgraded. Dined in with my family some time ago (right before COVID), service was mediocre at best. As a result we decided to stick to take-out only. Their wait times are always ridiculous - One hour and a half wait for pick up and more than 2 hours for delivery. This last time we ordered, our pizza looked like a 5 year old cut it. I came in and had dinner at table 37 last night. Not really sure what the servers name was because she never introduced herself. Was greeted by her two separate times saying she's sorry she's short staffed and she's extremely busy and she would be to us within two minutes. We sat and it took 10 mins to be formally greeted and have a drink order taken. I also wanted to put my order in which was literally just a medium deep dish pizza and the server looked at me and told me that she can only take my drink order right now. She can't take my food order because she didn't have the time to do it at the moment, and that she would be back....so again we waited another 15 minutes for her to come back.... Every table in the dining room located where I was either to the front left right or back of 37 was having an issue and was waiting on some thing. wether it be be a drink, cash out, get napkins some form or another. The manager wearing a blue polo was dealing with another guest issue in the dining room... he walked past us twice and didn't even acknowledge us ....didn't thank us for coming in.... but here I sit with no water, no drink .... Nothing .... I tip the server 20% because even though my experience is trash I work the business and I know it's not her fault. Go onto oh wait, sit less tables at once, give your servers smaller sections to give quality service.i highly recommended giving your staff the tools they need to be successful instead of running a crap dinner shift and upsetting your patrons. I would have been much happier waiting if that ensured my visit would have been better. I wasn't going to come back and eat at this location nor take the time to do a review but when I got home and I was sick hours after eating the pizza which led into midday today, this is when I came to share my experience.
