Love me some Giordano's Pizza! We know nothing screams Chicago like deep dish pizza and Giordano's does not disappoint. It was a busy Monday night and the staff and cooks managed things commendably. There are so many choice of toppings to go with that you could turn a deep dish into a gigantic deep dish. For this one, I put on spinach, peppers, tomatoes, and just a few scattered sausages. It came out the time they said it would, and it was cooked to perfection. Excellent flavor, the right amount of toppings and cheese covered in delicious sauce. We were staying in Navy Pier, so shortly after checking in to our hotel we made the quick walk to this Giordano's to put in our order since we were already hungry and knew it was going to take a while to prepare. We waited in a short line to talk to a hostess (This was on a Monday afternoon btw), and she indicated that it would be a 90-minute wait. We agree since we were determined to have some deep dish that day. We agree and get into a second line to order. We stood there waiting at the register to place our order for another 5-10 minutes. We decide on a small 'Meat and More Meat' deep dish pizza which includes sausage, pepperoni, salami, bacon. We decided to walk around the area. We actually left the Pier for a bit and checked things out in the area. We had just made it back to the Pier over an hour later when we got a text indicating that they were ready to seat us. Sweet! We head back to get back into a long line for the hostess. We tell her we got the text and ready to be seated. Seating is not actually ready yet. We wait another 10-15 minutes. We are then finally seated at our booth. We order our drinks and after a few more minutes our glorious deep-dish pizza is set on our table. From the time I spoke to the hostess to the time when our pie arrived at our table clocked in at 104 minutes. That was practically an ordeal. Borderline hangry and ready to destroy some food, we finally started eating. That pie was thick and tasty! THIS is what I've been waiting for! I struggled to finish my second piece after all of that! The crust was much doughier than the other deep dish pizza place we tried later on (review to come), but I actually like that better. This pie was noticeably thicker and cheesier with generous portions of meat! It was a mission getting here, but damn was this a tasty and satisfying pie! The dining room is surprisingly small, but they have a good amount of outdoor seating as well. Food was somewhere between 4-4.5, but service was more like a 2.5-3. If I could, I would give them 3.5 stars, but that pie was scrumptious, so I am going to round up to... 4 stars. read more

The location is great at Navy Pier. It was a nice day out, but a little windy yet tolerable, so we chose to sit outside. They were really strict though in letting us know, if it got too windy and we wanted to sit inside, we wouldn't be able to. so to choose carefully. We were also told that the pizza would take 1 hour to come out because that's how long it takes to bake. I wanted a sangria but was told by our server they were out since Thursday. We were there on a Sunday afternoon. They serve wine, and had wine to offer because my husband and my mom both ordered red & white wines. Just get some fruit and there you go. Not sure what this "few days" was all about. So I got a pepsi instead. In the meantime we ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was okay, nothing too special. Once the pizza came, it was good, but I do prefer Lou Malnati over Giordanos. don't @ me okay. Our server was extremely slow in getting us pepper flakes, parm cheese, refills, etc. I tried to be patient but I had to ask another server for these things - I dreaded asking because I know we weren't his table but I also couldn't just sit there waiting to see whenever our server felt like coming over. This was my first visit to Chicago and I really wanted to have some Deep dish pizza, I heard about this place and decided to try it, I know they have different locations but this one was the closest one. When we got there they said it will take 45 minutes to get a deep dish pizza it didn't took the entire 45 minutes but it was worth it i will say, the pizza was really good and hot, the sauce was so good, cheese and everything. One piece was enough for me, I ordered small one so if you don't eat that much small one will do it. I wish i had the opportunity to try another one but you get full pretty quickly. We just had to try all the deep dish pizza joints in Chicago and Giordano was definitely somewhere top on the list. We got a small to share between the two of us and it was definitely too big. The pizza here is definitely bigger than other locations, however I wouldn't say the quality was better. I wasn't a fan of the cracker-like crust on the pizza (though I'm sure there are many others who crave it). Never got to eat our pizza. Was excited to try. We were sitting at our table and the table next to us had a child that vomited. Once the family left. The server made no effort to find someone to cleanup the mess. We waved someone down to hopefully get the vomit removed as it was hard look at and the odor was strong. Eventually someone came to clean it but we had to ask to be moved which they refused to do and told us to go wait outside again as they had another party coming and couldn't give us a table. The manager told us to sit at our old table while they cleaned the vomit. The manager I think her name was Becky (brown hair woman. The front said that is her name) was the one who refused us and made no effort to resolve the issue. She was very rude and not friendly to us. I probably remove half a star for the long wait on the food coming in, but when we get the deep dish pizza, it was all worth the wait. We came in here at early lunch so there's not a long line and only a few seats are occupied which I think is the best time to come in. We went to a different location the night before and it was a 2 hours wait to be seated so we end up not eating there, and so it was a relief to be seated immediately. The service is topnotch, all smiles and always asking if it's our first time eating. The best is the server even offers to serve the first cut of pizza, so that we can take a photo of the oozing sticky mozzarella cheese out of the pizza slice. We ordered a Meat and Meat this time since we've always ordered the deluxe and wanted to try a different flavor. And as always it didn't disappoint. The bacon is still crunchy which we all loved. We have requested a tabasco to go with it and was given one immediately, we love our pizza with a bit of spice from tabasco (no other brand). The small size is enough for us 3, 2 slices for each of us is fulfilling.. of course we've learned this over several visits to Giordano's.. that slice of Chicago deep dish pizza is really filling. We eat everything, including the crust edge which is my son's favorite. We also ordered (as always) the calamari for starters and always didn't disappoint. Long time fan of Giordano's! This location did not disappoint. It was busy, like all other locations but the team was nice, answered questions and seated us as quickly as possible. There was a 30 minute wait for the table, but we were allowed to order our pizza ahead of time, as it take about 45 minutes to make. While waiting, we shopped at a few places at the pier. When we returned, we sat at a clean and comfy table. It's always great to have extra elbow room at the table. The place was full of families, laughter and the wonderful smell of pizza. The staff was nice the entire time! The pizza was hot and flavorful! We ordered the medium pepperoni and sausage pizza. Next, I'm going to try the frozen pizza and have it shipped to my home. July 2021 - COVID Review: So there's definitely been the constant debate between this chain and another popular one in Chicago. I know I'm not from here but going off taste alone, I would say that this one reigns supreme. I never thought I *could* like deep dish pizza until I tried Giodano's! I loved that all of the "toppings" are more like "stuffing". As in everything is layered in between the sauces and cheese so that you can have a delicious and perfect bite each time. This location is busier due to it being at Navy Pier so order ahead by calling or online when you can. Also expect at least a 40 minute wait but it's well worth it. read more

Considering it's a chain, I already know how good the pizza is. I came here on a Saturday and the wait was astronomical. However, we put our name on the 40-minute waiting list and then walked around the Navy Pier. Great location for sightseeing, by the way. After the time had lapsed, we went to the front only to find out that the hostess never put our name on the waiting list and then we had to wait even longer. My friend went to find the manager and explained the situation and eventually we were seated. We ordered a pizzas for the tables and another to go. When we left and returned to our hotel, we realized that the were given the incorrect order. Considering how the day went, we weren't too shocked. However, upon calling the restaurant back to inform them of the mistake, the refunded our charge. 5 stars for the management taking action to rectify a horrible experience. Eh.... The whole experience was about 2.5 hours from the time we put our name in for a table and the time we walked out the door. A bill of over $70 for 2 small pizzas and a mediocre salad seems crazy. The deep dish wasn't cooked in the center - it was lukewarm. The thin crust was an overcooked frozen pizza. We didn't even eat it. The ranch salad was eh, not even worth the $7. The plates looked warned and not the cleanest restaurant. I wouldn't recommend ... set expectations low. read more

Very impolite waitress (for description: black lady, hair tied back, short in height) It's totally understandable that your patio was being cleaned and that it would take some time for it to be ready. However, there's no reason to bluntly tell a group of customers that "you sit where I tell you to sit!" in front of all guests, gesturing towards an unwanted seat inside. Ok let me be clear...I am a NYKER and this pizza feud has been going on for as long as I have been alive. So the first thing I wanted to do while visiting Chicago is to try their legendary pizza that they stand so high on. Visiting the famous Giordano's at the Navy pier was going to answer my question. We started out with some cocktails (nice touch) and that helped with the wait because when you order the Chicago deep dish pizza they immediately let you know that it will take 45 minutes to come out. I had an event afterwards and was worried that I might miss it but to my surprise, it came out a little bit earlier. We had ordered the medium cheese what was worried that it might be too small for the both of us to share...but when it came out it was huge! Hubby picked up a slice and that cheese pull was non stop! Very impressive! Now on to the taste...it was delicious I can't lie and the crust was light and fluffy which was a nice surprise. I do still prefer NY pizza but much respect Chicago! read more

We came here one evening after spending the day walking around the pier. We have a very fussy toddler who is very difficult to please. Our server was very patient and accommodating to help us avoid a difficult situation. Unlike many parents who rather stay home rather than take their fussy babies out we like to go out and eat and relax. Pizza was amazing as usual. We don't get stuffed pizza often but when we do, it's always giordanos. We got the spinach stuffed and it was sooo good. It was a small I believe and we still had some left over. You come here for the deep dish, amirite? Well, they do it fairly well and have the brand name to prove it. So why the three stars, Mr. Pizza Lover? You're at Navy Pier, so expect a ton of people. And this occasion was no exception. Giordano's was busy for a Thursday, with post-holiday stragglers and some pretty mild, albeit soggy, weather, but it wasn't 90-minutes-deep-busy. We were quoted an hour, and that was acceptable for a Chicago landmark, but the hour became a moving target, and the final wait was closer to 2 hours. Again, it's not a crime to wait for good fare, but now I'm hungry, and since you can pre-order, I figure the famous product was en route. Here's where a brand name is let down by mediocre experiences. Our server was a pleasant but distracted young lady who seemed to have eyes on her party of 10 (seated 10 minutes after us) and 'forgot' about us. By now, I'm just wanting to enjoy pizza with the fam so if my pre-order is ready, then all is forgiven...except my pre-order had been ready for quite some time and was not even close to 'plating quality' given the tepid feel. Pro tip: When the cheese on a Giordano's pizza is not stretching, that's kind of a giveaway that it's been sitting a spell. It wasn't the review I wanted to write. Giordano's makes damn good deep dish! This I knew. But the in-house experience was deflating, and while forgivable, probably needs to be pointed out UPDATED: I'm all for getting second chances (lord knows I've been given plenty), and Giordano's came through with that top-flight pizza experience! Even with an order ahead, our pie came out like it quite literally just come from a zillion degree oven. The proof is in the stretch of the cheese, and we were able to get almost a yard of lift with cheese still attached (all for effect!). Knowing Navy Pier, this was destined to be a disaster. I have no problem with Navy Pier, but the food tends to cater to the tourists. We know Giordano's (which we like), but we had a low bar since it's in a touristy place. We were pleasantly surprised. We started with a Giordano's app platter which I don't recall them having at their other locations. It was really good. Naturally, we got the deep dish which was excellent and good Chicago style. The service was also very good. The only downside was that the prices are a bit higher at this place (tourists!) and the server told us we could put on our pizza order ahead of time. We were never told this and would have save about 30 minutes to the experience. They were able to seat our large group of 10 which was clutch. If I'm at Navy Pier, I'll keep this on the list.
