We were very excited to eat at the world famous Giordano's. We go to church with people from Chicago and they highly recommended it. When we arrived, there was no wait, and we were promptly seated. The smell of the restaurant was immediately noticeable and very enticing. It smelled delicious. I don't know the official name of the pizza we ordered, but it was a veggie pizza. Chicago deep dish style. And it was good, but it was not great. The reason for that is the ingredients were not evenly spread throughout the pizza, almost like they were segregated. And the pizza was still good... That's why I think it could've been great. The restaurant itself reminds you of an awesome pizza parlor. You can literally see the chefs throwing the dough and making the pizza. I think that's cool. And everybody seemed to be having a pretty good time. The reason for the three stars, and not four, is because our service was not great and we feel we got ripped off on our salad. I believe the servers name was Tony. She was pleasant enough. But would never check on us. We had to flag her down on a couple of occasions. It took a considerably long time to get the check and to be able to leave, as well. Additionally, we ordered the large salad, I think it's the entrée size. When it came to the table, it was very small and we immediately expressed concern. Tony basically blew it off by telling us that's the normal size. So I think we ended up paying like $22 for a very small salad, but to be fair it was tasty. I wanted a deep dish pizza and that is exactly what I got! Restaurant was clean and bright and the service was good. No complaints.

We went to Giordano's to try a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza- and I believe the sheer size of the pie and the nice cheese pull speak for themselves (we were too hungry to get a more flattering image). Despite being absolutely smothered and suffocated in cheese and tomato sauce, the crust stayed deliciously crisp and sturdy. Service was fast, and the ambiance was warm and comfortable. I know this place is considered 'touristy' since it's a chain, and many Chicago natives have much stronger opinions about this, but I don't have any complaints. For a decent deep dish at a good price, I like Giordano's. read more

My wife and I decided to try this pizza place. We decided to get the mozzarella squares, Chicago classic pizza, with fettuccine alfredo. The pizza was delicious, from the sauce, to the cheese sauce but the bread itself could've been a bit better (8.5/10.) Alfredo and Mozzarella squares were amazing too. The issue that we had was with the service. Our waiter seemed as if he had a little attitude when we first sat down. We ordered and got our drinks, but weren't able to get his attention for refills for the entire time of us eating. When I asked the host if we can get some help, she responded that I would need to tell my waiter about it. So not much help there. This was the only downside to the amazing place, but it can take a heavy toll when you're visiting from a different state to try the culture. I'd give 3.5 if I could. read more

The waitress was awesome very attentive and professional. The food was on the disappointing side. We got the sampler platter while we waited for our pizzas. When you order pizza it's explained that it takes 20-40 minutes for it to be ready depending on what you order and the size of the pizza. The sampler plate was mostly good except for the cheese sticks. They unfortunately had a nasty taste that can be best described as tasting like throw up. The pizzas were ok. Not the best or worst I've had. To me this is one of those spots that you have to check out and see what the hype is all about. Upon arrival we were told that it took about 45 minutes to bake our pizzas and were advised to place our order while we wait for a table to open up. We placed our order and chose to seat at the bar, while we waited on our pizza we got drinks and a appetizer which were the garlic Parmesan fries which were soooo delicious! When we got our pizza they were hot and cheesy! They had really good flavor and were honestly delicious. I believe this was a good introduction to Chicago deep dish lol The staff were all nice and the vibe here is just a laid back casual pizza joint. Convenient location at Navy Pier - perfect to grab deep dish after a boat tour. Appreciate their efficient system. You order the pizza after joining the waitlist since it takes 1 hour to make. Our table took 40 mins and we walked around the area and until we got the text to return. They had a photographer walking around asking if you want photos? Thought that part was a little weird since the ambiance was pretty casual and not quite nice enough to warrant a nice photo. Food is average (guess I'm not a huge deep dish fan haha but have to try when in Chicago!) We had half and half flavors but thought the toppings weren't very flavorful. The crust was kinda hard. On a recent trip to Chicago, of course trying a Chicago Deep Dish Style pizza was on the list. I know many natives of the city eschew both Giordano's and Lou Malnati's for other local establishments since they are too much like a chain as they have grown. it's like asking 20 residents of the City of Brotherly Love where to get the best cheesesteak, you quite possibly will get 20 different answers with many decrying Geno's & Pat's. So I won't try and tell you that it is the best Chicago Style Pizza but it is incredibly good! This location was convenient and the timing was right after we finished our boat tour. We elected to grab seats at the small bar versus a wait for a table. Not sure how long the wait was for a table for 2 but there was definitely a crowd. Pretty traditional toppings of sausage and pepperoni for our selection. The small left us with a slice each for lunch the next day and it reheated well in the hotel microwave. Not quite as good as when fresh out of the oven but still good. Understand that it takes longer than the 10-15 minutes you are used to at your local pizza joint for it to cook (which they tell you upfront when ordering). We overheard several complaining customers about the wait but ours came out right on time. Overall, I would eat here again but most likely to try somewhere else if it is convenient just so I can compare and get in on the argument, I mean discussion, about where is best. read more

While visiting Chicago I just had to try the deep dish pizza. We visited this location while we were checking out the Navy pier. We had a hour wait, but was told to order our pizza now so it would be done around the time we would be seated. Like we were told, about a hour later we were notified by text that our table was ready. Our waitress came by to bring us our waters and take any other drink orders that we might have had along with adding to our food order that we placed earlier. We dined here on 10/17 for dinner and were really disappointed. We waited about 45 minutes for a table and were asked to preorder our pizza while waiting, which we didn't mind. But after we were seated, it took another 40 minutes for the pizza to arrive. The other table arrived like 20mins after we have seated and they got their pizza pretty quick! So I was wondering maybe they missed our preordered pizza!? What's the point of preordering if it still takes that long? Service was also lacking. Our server, Ana, was defensive when we followed up about our order and didn't acknowledge the delay or inconvenience. something you'd expect from someone in hospitality- to alteast acknowledge customers frustrations. No drink refills were offered, and we barely saw her throughout the meal. To top it off, she gave our bill to another table, and they ended up paying for it. Giordano's is a must for Chicago pizza and a surprisingly great value! Our experience with Giordano's started off a little bumpy. We started off our weekend here on a Friday night (traveled up from St Louis). We were advised of a one hour wait at the host stand and ordered our deep dish special. We decided to go for a stroll on Navy Pier while we waited. Gorgeous weather and spectacular view! We were notified our table was ready and headed back. The host sat us right away and server greeted us quickly. Giordano's is the only place we found that offers beer by the pitcher! We went with the Revolution IPA for $22.50. Like getting 5 beers for the price of 2! It's a delicious citrusy IPA that is not too bitter. Our pizza arrived and was barely warm. We let our server know and he reheated it, but it just wasn't the same. While we were there we saw and smelled orders of calamari going by. Looked and smelled amazing. Even with that, it was still a good experience so we came back the next night for the beer and calamari. We asked to sit at the bar and that was the best move we made! We were able to grad a couple chairs at the end of the bar and had great service by Kerri the bartender. She was so nice and we chatted about our bummer of an experience the night before but that we wanted to come back for a second try. She felt bad and said this is a tough time of year because they have so much seasonal help and increased volume. The calamari arrived and it did not disappoint! Oh my it's a plateful! More than enough for two to share and sooo good! We needed a little bit more marinara sauce and Kerri made it happen! Without asking for a manager, one arrived to chat with us. Gladys the manager said that Kerri explained we had a less than awesome experience the night before and wanted to make it right. She offered us a complementary pizza if we would come back again. When does that ever happen? Well, why not?! We weren't planning on coming here 3 times this weekend, but apparently that is exactly what happened! On our third visit, Sunday at 11:00 because our train back is at 2:00, we were seated outside in perfect weather. Kerri was there and treated us like old friends. Ya, I hugged her. She is just too sweet! Our server, Ruth, came to our table straight away and took our order. Again, great service and checked on us often. The pizza arrived and it was phenomenal! We went with the deep dish meat and more. Absolutely delicious and not too greasy. I recommend a small dish of olive oil to dip that glorious crust in! Don't waste it! We had the House Salad. My wife and I particularly enjoyed the lemon vinaigrette although one of my daughters found it a little tart. She was outvoted three to one. I enjoyed the salad and the pizza. I hate to leave a bad review since I typically don't, but the customer service was so bad that I was actually shocked and it left me disappointed. I love Giordano's and I wanted to show my boyfriend good pizza since it's his first time in Chicago. We waited 45 mins for a table, and we were sat next to a family with a baby just a few feet away. Unfortunately, the baby had an accident and puked all over the floor, table, and high chair next to me. The family ended up leaving and the puke was still everywhere. I tried to be a good customer and waited for them to clean it, but I waited 10mins and no one came. I couldn't stand the smell or sight anymore so we got up from the table and asked to be seated somewhere else. There was one table available that we stood next to as we waited. At this moment, the manger came over and told us to go sit back down at the puke table while we wait for it to be cleaned so she can sit other people at the only table. I asked why we cant sit at another table? And she said we already had a table and she needs to seat customers where we were standing. Why not ask if we are ok? Or anything nice at all? She didn't even smile. She didn't care about our experience at all and was very rude. Who expects customers to go sit by puke? Especially when we already sat there for 10mins with no one cleaning it. The manager's name was Becky (according to the hostess at the front). She was a brunette lady wearing a blue shirt. I'm honestly surprised and sad we had to experience this. We ended up leaving the restaurant rather than sitting next to puke. We didn't get to eat the pizza we ordered. If you want to have a private conversation, it's best that you try for seating outside. The waitress was awesome and very attentive to our needs despite the lunchtime rush. We came to Chicago to try Giordano's and it was ok, Lou Malnati's was out first Chicago style pizza so it could be preferences. The crust was more of a cracker consistency as it was dry and not a crispy buttery flavor. Overall, a decent experience.
