When Chicagoans mention deep dish pizza, Gioradano's is often mentioned in many people's top lists. As compared to other options, Giordano's is one of the more straightforward options - generally quite meaty and cheesy and with a bready crust. This is in contrast to some other options which may have garlicky or buttery crusts, caramelization, unusual toppings, etc. Giordano's can appeal to a wide variety of people looking for a more straightforward pizza experience. The menu here is fairly classic for a chicago pizza joint with a standard set of starters, salads, italian entrees, and desserts. Pizza is offered in thin and deep dish, with mostly sausage, mushroom, onion, green pepper, pepperoni, chicken, and spinach variations. There is a wider variety of items available for make your own options, but the specials are a bit limited in the combinations offered. The interior has more of a traditional pizza joint type of vibe, with decor to make diners feel like they've been transported back several decades. The pizzas themselves are fairly large so you don't necessarily need an appetizer, however it can take 40-50 minutes to prepare a deep dish, so ordering a Giordano's sampler is a good way to keep the table from getting too hungry while waiting. In general, the pizzas have a fairly thick layer of tomato sauce that isn't too bold (letting the toppings shine a little more), the cheese is fairly thick, and crust is bready and a little crunchy. For me, I find that these pizzas are probably best for those looking to get a sub sandwich in a pizza form, but may not meet the bolder flavor expectations that you'll find from many of the national pizza chain locations. With that said though, I also think that Giordano's works well for those looking for a less greasy, not overly spiced or herbed choice, where you can enjoy more of the simple combination of dough, cheese, and tomato sauce without an excessive amount of other ingredients to distract from the experience. Overall, a good choice if you're a deep dish or Chicago pizza lover. This is one of the spots that is important to try in your journey of Chicago Pizza tourism.

Pretty good deep dish pizza. Especially the dough and cheese, freshness is good. A bit of problem I have with the pizza is that, it was supposed to be meat and more meat but I can't tell the meat I was eating from the taste.

Deep dish pizza is a must tourist stop in Chicago, you just need to plan ahead because this isn't "fast" food. I planned for an hour and placed an order for pick up. I ordered a personal 6" pizza with my own combo of toppings. It was perfect. Deep dish with great cheese stretchiness. Flavor was just what I wanted. I carried out but staff was friendly and restaurant was clean.

I have been to Chicago twice before and never got chance to try their "famous deep dish pizza". This time we visited our friends and i asked if we can have deep dish pizza, and the first meal we went to was Giordano's pizza... this is definitely my favorite pizza now, as the crust was so crispy that it reminded me of samosa cover and definitely pizza and toppings add to the crust. Four of us ordered Medium size half and half ... it was very much sufficient to us and we enjoyed it! Another check mark in my food bucket list #foodie #deepdishpizza #giordanospizza #pizza #chicagodeepdishpizza

Deep dish? Absolutely pathetic. Less than half an inch of cheese. We literally ate it with our hands. The other was supposed to be a veggie pizza and it's straight olives. Should have gotten Lou's

This was found in my deep dish pizza. It was a deep dish with green peppers and mushrooms. And somehow a chunk of mud was added.

There was a chunk of mud found in my pizza. Please see the picture. Mgmt refunded me and offered to remake my order, but I had zero appetite at that point.

My parents and I came here around 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. We waited around 30 minutes before we were seated. While waiting we were given the opportunity to preorder our deep dish in the back. Each deep dish takes around 35-40 minutes so once we were seated we just had to give the server a receipt of our preorder and we got our pizza back much quicker than having to wait another 30 minutes. Apart from the pizza that we preordered we also ordered an entree sized house salad. Though the lettuce and tomatoes of the salad were very fresh there was just not enough in the salad, it felt overpowered by the lettuce. The dressing also felt a bit lacking in the salad, would have been nice to be able to pick out the dressing. As for the pizza, the toppings were a good mixture and the flavor was good (We got The Special) but the dough was just lacking. It was not very well cooked towards the bottom and the crust itself was way too dry. It also didn't feel completely heated all the way through. On the plus side, the service was great. The server was very friendly and worked very quickly and the host was also very friendly as well. Pro: -Friendly and quick service -Preorder pizza option for faster service -Flavor Con: -Not well cooked pizza dough -Long wait

Our first visit started with a delay in service, but handled the situation with professionalism, empathy, and true leadership. She listened, apologized sincerely, and turned the moment into a coaching opportunity for her team. When we returned, the experience was completely different. The staff was attentive from the moment we walked in, and our server, Ajani M., was excellent -- quick, kind, knowledgeable, and very attentive throughout the meal. The food was a pleasant surprise. The spicy Calabrian shrimp dish, prepared without shrimp for our preference, was delicious, and the Fungo pizza was extraordinary alone with the good Mama Luca's Tiramisu. The passion fruit margarita was also excellent. The flavors felt light, fresh, and authentic -- more like being transported to Italy than eating at a typical heavy American-Italian restaurant. The restaurant was a little cold, and I personally prefer not to sit near the kitchen or restroom area, but overall, the food, service, and management response made this a place I would recommend. Special kudos to Isabella for turning an initial concern into a beautiful customer experience, and to . for providing excellent service. . ,

Let me be clear: I don't normally get this emotionally attached to a turkey burger. Turkey burgers are usually just meat and bread however THIS ONE?! This was an EXPERIENCE. A testimony. I most recently had their skinny margarita and Korean glass noodle bowl. While I totally appreciate the minimizing of oils, salt, soy sauce, etc. this dish tasted like nothing to me. Almost like I had long covid and a loss of taste. The skinny margarita also tasted off - like there was orange juice instead of traditional margarita mix. I did try the seasonal sourdough pita with eggplant dip and that was really good. But some of my favorites are longer on the menu for example, the harissa cauliflower and chicken pizza. Service and ambiance are great. I'll definitely be back in the future but it has fallen off the pedestal a bit for me.
