This is my go to place when I want a big slice of pizza and the appetite to consume it all. The cheesy garlic is the like cherry on top of a sundae. The slice is so heavy to reach my mouth I sometimes ask if they can cut it in half. I can't eat it all in one session so I usually end up taking the rest home. The surrounding neighborhood is full of people cars & motion. Gio's pizza I love, I feel like I'm cheating on Mountain Mike's.

Burnt crust on almost empty Calzone (Specialty Pizza)

Ever since I posted about Gio's a few months ago, my husband and I have use them as our favorite pizzeria. We don't eat pizza very often actually but at least six times over the last I don't know it's eight months. Especially when we have friends that we're getting together so we can get a set of pizzas or calzone. I was shocked today when we ordered calzones on a rainy night that when we got home, the items were awful. Both of our calzones were burned on the edges like no one bothered to take it out of the oven. My veggie lovers calzone had four bites of chicken that I had paid to add and very little filling at all. It was like pizza crust that have been smashed together with a little bit of cheese. My husband's uncle Joey, or whatever had almost nothing in the middle. It makes me sad to write this and also sad to say we probably will not be returning.

It was nice of the owner to follow up quickly with me after my bad experience. He assured me my next visit would be up to their regular standards. I have been back a couple times since then and their service was good. Their crust is still a little hit and miss. Still waiting to get that perfect crust I tasted the second time I ever been here. It's hard not to keep coming back because it's my wife's favorite pizza. Happy wife...

They do slices Mon-Fri 11-4pm Sat sun 11-3p!! Soooo good!! Support local! I want Gio's to be in business for a long long time!!!

We saw the reviews on Yelp and decided this was going to be the best pizza choice in Santa Rosa. The menu has some wonderful specialty pizzas and the flavor combinations sounded amazing. We opted for a 1/2 Gios Garlic Supreme and 1/2 Polli's Perfect both were wonderful and we really liked the crust. My favorite was the Gios Garlic because the white sauce was amazing! The toppings are plentiful and fresh too! So many things to try on this menu if we lived in the area this would be our pizza place. They even bring real plates and silverware if you're eating in and they boxed up our left overs too! The owner was the one who served us and took our order and was attentive and refilled our waters too. If you're in the area and looking for pizza or pasta this should be your go to place. Thank you we will be back when visiting again.

We don't exactly live in the direct vicinity of this place, it seems like a neighborhood pizza joint, but we were happy we found it! The place had great service and was very neighborly and intimate. You walk by the giant mixer when you go to the back to use the bathroom so you know they make the dough fresh there. They were also accommodating with us wanting to do a 50/50 pizza and what we wanted on each side. It was delicious and we ate the entire thing. I t's not exactly on our way anywhere, but we will definitely be back at some point

When I have a craving for pizza, I always think of Gio's. My family used to often get take-out here during the pandemic and it was always served piping hot, you could hardly touch the bottom of the pizza boxes! And then on your drive home, your entire car is filled with the incredible aromas of your pizzas. Our daughter picked up a couple of our favorites on this Sunday evening: Pesto Augustus (pesto sauce, chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes) and Classic Combo (pepperoni, sausage, olives, peppers, mushrooms). They are freshly made by the sweet people who work here. The staff are always smiling and welcoming when you stop in to pick up your order. It is a bit of a drive for us to get to Gio's and I believe we must pass at least five other pizza places to get here, but we are never disappointed. They are generous on their toppings and our orders have always been perfect (no onion). Make sure to order their large size (18 inches) to ensure you have leftovers the following day!

Gio has the best pizza in town. We come here regularly and get our favorites: Pesto Augustus pizza, Alfredo sticks, penne pesto with chicken & bacon. We also appreciate Gio's wonderful staff very much!

This coming from a very picky person when it comes to the quality and flavor of any restaurant foods...THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! PIZZA is delicious- perfect crust, perfect amount of sauce, and LOADS of toppings!! We tried 6 diferent ones- all delicious. Pasta also very good, had the chicken fettuccine alfredo- the sauce was so flavorful!! Caesar salad so so good-had the yummiest croutons. I forgot to mention how FAST we received our food. Very impressive! Service was above and beyond- we were welcomed with a smile. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. Dining room could use a little zhuzhing up but atmosphere was soon forgotten when we started eating! YUM!! We will DEFINITELY be coming back!!

We were driving back from Redwood National Forest to Bay area and wanted to stop by at a good Pizza place for dinner. The kids as usual got super pumped up when I told them that we will be heading to a pizza place for dinner. Not too far from the 101 freeway, this restaurant had pretty good reviews on Yelp. Even though, the price seemed to be higher side, I still decided to give a shot. The location where the restaurant is very warm and homely. There are lots eateries around and by the time we reached it was close to dusk and it seemed like a perfect evening. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating outside and inside the restaurant. The waiters are super friendly and warm and helpful. They seemed to be loving what they are doing. I ordered the large pizza and cheesy garlic breads. Ordered half and half on the pizza, with one half being Margarita and the other half with chicken. The pizza came out in about 15 minutes which was not too bad. The large pizza was really huge (18 inches), looked yummy. Now coming to the taste and quality, well let me say I have had much better ones. The crust was thick to begin with, may be a thinner crust would have made it more flavorful when we are eating it. We originally thought that the half that is supposed to have the chicken, didnt have the chicken. When we checked with the waiters they checked and said that it doesnt look like chicken is added and he gave chunks of chicken on the side. But then when we started eating it, we realized it did have chicken cooked and pretty much submerged in cheese. We felt sorry and apologized to them. But all along, they were very kind and cool. The cheesy garlic bread was pretty good, I wish they serve it with marinara sauce, but they did give it to us when we requested for it. Overall, for the price, I would expect the quality & taste of the pizza to be even better, I was contemplating between 3 and 4 stars for the very same reason. However, because of the exceptional customer service, I had to give them a 4.

Love this place and the people. Service is always great and friendly. Pizza never disappoints. Our favorites are the Dani's Heartattack, Neopolitan, and the Trinichini. I also love love love that they have Summer Solstice on tap. A little pricey, but I don't mind because the food is worth it. Sign up for specials via text. I love the option to sit outside on a nice day. Their lunch specials are a great value also. The sandwiches are delicious too. The Italian Stallion is my favorite! YUMMMM read more

Yum yum yummy. We have been looking for the really good pizza. I lived in Novato for 2 years, tried everywhere to no avail. I finally found it at Gio's! Excellent pizza at great prices. After Thanksgiving, our family was ready for pizza! We are so glad to find Gio's recommendations on yelp because we found the good reviews completely justified. We had the vegetable pizza and a mac & cheese pizza (I know, a bit much but the person who ordered it loved it!). Hands down, the best pizza we have had since moving to Santa Rosa a couple of years ago. Great crust, lots of yummy veggies and an all around terrific taste. Can't speak to the Mac & Cheese pizza - - I passed on a taste of that one. read more

Great pizza, great service. Pesto stcks are amazing! I most definitely will be back. Only downside was rude customers sitting at the bar trying to invade people's space with talks of politics and racial jokes. Super obnoxious. All in all still a hidden gem read more

I ordered the gluten free combo on line with a substitution (Canadian bacon instead of pepperoni). It arrived hot within 30 minutes and was delicious. Being gluten free the crust did not rise but was thin and crispy and not at all soggy. I will definitely order from there again, happy I can eat pizza again! read more

Gio's Pizza is a wonderful little hidden gem in Bennett Valley located in the CVS shopping center. Family owned and operated, Gus, Taylor, Caroline and Lilly always make our dinning experience a pleasure. Great place for families or to watch sports, offering inside and outside seating. Excellent pizza (great crust), huge fresh salads, and amazing garlic bread sticks! Fresh quality ingredients make Gio's stand out as a favorite. If you are a Ranch Dressing Lover you will enjoy the food here. Also offer Happy Hour pizza by the slice from 3-6pm during the week. read more

Ordered combo pizza for takeout, taste was alright. It looked so good too but unfortunately it was undercooked and gummy (the dough was still "clear" in parts) I had to put it in the oven at home to finish cooking the dough all the way through. Had it been cooked all the way it would've been pretty good but for a $20 small pizza I expect to not have to cook it myself :( waste of money read more

Gio's menu is very good as are the recipes. There a lot of pizza places out there with essentially the same flavors and recipes, but try the Gio's pizzas are very tasty and unique. There are lots of choices and I want to return to taste them all. read more

I recently left Santa Rosa; and will miss Spencer; Gus, and Gio's terribly. I ate there at least twice a week, the lunch special and happy hours. The pizza is on a par with East Coast Pizza (believe me, I am from there) and the customer service from Spencer is unparalleled. Have a salad, scrimshaw and a meat lovers! Kudos! read more

I live in the neighborhood and my kids love Gio's. I think it's just ok but with the proximity to my home and how much my kids enjoy it, I order from Gio's regularly. The service is more bad than good. They don't seem to be able to handle a crowd. Then last night I witnessed an older man, I think was the owner, scolding a very confused teenage boy in front of a waiting line of customers. It was embarrassing and tacky and poor form. The scolding continued the whole time I waited for my pizza. What did this poor kid do to deserve to be treated so badly? He was making mistakes for sure but this older man, who if not the owner is at least the manager, should know how to better deal with the situation and train his employees. I will take my pizza dollars a few blocks the other direction. read more

Gio's has been a family favorite for years, especially dining in. Delicious pizza and a decent selection of draft beers, shirley temples and pretzels to satisfy the kiddos. I was talking to the owner this evening about the impact of the 2017 fires, and it reminded me how important it is to give a shout out to our local businesses. Ordered the 12" Mighty Viking Pizza & Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo today for takeout. It was just "okay" tasting pizza. My pizza didn't have all the full toppings on it like the "other reviewers" showed for this restaurant. A few bites of my fettuccine was just "okay" as well. We had the best experience here & tasted the BEST pizza ever. Our server Ati was extremely sweet & kept checking in on us throughout our dinner. We want to thank the owner, Gus, for taking such great care of us and being so hospitable. Aside from the service being 11/10, the pizza was incredible. There were so many options, we got two half & half pizzas. The Mac n Cheese, Smelly Tahitian, Mighty Viking, and Big Tone- with a side of pesto breadsticks. Everything tasted incredible- all of the homemade sauces, fresh ingredients, and perfectly baked dough. We loved our experience here, and we would definitely suggest this to anyone who wants a damn good pizza! Thanks Gio's! read more

Sadly, Gio's has gone downhill over the past year or so. We used to go there all the time and loved the service we got from their employees such as Spencer and Caroline (who have since left). The pizza was always awesome. Lately, there is a quick turn over of employees and service is pretty lousy. Our pizza is hit or miss. Also, half the time the server doesn't bring us those yummy little garlic pretzels. We have started going other places because its not worth dragging your family all out to a restaurant if you aren't going to enjoy the experience. read more

Gio's Pizza is a great, authentic, hole-in-the wall place. Nice, clean, TV's with sports. My favorite 2 things - the lunch special - ANY slice with a salad! Other favorite is the cheap XL pizza night on Wednesdays. Can't be beat! read more

So as we were making our way home from Windsor,my buddy told me about this deli that was described…read moreby some as the most authentic deli in the area,which is saying a lot considering how close we were to "wine country" So we decided to stop and at first glance from the outside it doesn't seem like much but once you walk in,you get that feel that your meal is about to be spectacular. The place had all the feels of an authentic Italian deli-I could not wait to get my hands on one of these sandwiches. I was torn between going with my usual at any Italian deli which is just a classic Italian but for some reason,I've been on a tri-tip vibe for a while and I saw they had BBQ tri-tip on the menu so I just went with that-I added pepper jack to my sandwich.($17.94) It wasn't very busy when we ordered so the food didn't take long,maybe a 6 or 7 minute wait and our food was in front of us. This deli is interesting in that they do a lot of stuff in-house including homemade chips and we had some-so tasty-great addition to our meal. They also have a pretty extensive freezer section with homemade pastas and sauces that a customer can take home to prepare at a later date. So let's talk about the BBQ tri-tip sandwich. It's always wonderful when you run into a small business that just truly excels at their craft and I feel Canevari Deli is one of those places. They made this sandwich so well,excellent balance of meat,cheese,bread and condiments. It was a job well done. I'm having really good luck lately of finding amazing restaurants that are out of town and unfortunately Canevaris is one of those places-this is the type of place that if it was near me I would go there every week,the people who live in Santa Rosa are quite lucky to have such a great deli so close to them daily. In closing ,if you find yourself in the Santa Rosa area and you want to help support a true local business,stop by Canevaris and enjoy yourself one of their daily offerings-I'm sure it will be a wonderful experience.

Halfway through my first sandwich, I noticed no peppers, I opened the other half before I ate it, and it was the stem of the pepper and one other tiny and a sliver of a red onion and a ton of mayonnaise and they use kinder's barbecue sauce, squirt bottle, not the good old stuff. So don't waste your money on a $15 sandwich which is in the garbage can now.

We also enjoyed some of the house focaccia bread. For our entrées, I chose the Lamb Ragu while my wife went with the Pappardelle Bolognese. Everything arrived in a timely manner and came out hot and fresh. The calamari was crispy and well prepared. The focaccia was good, although I would have preferred it served warm. The Caesar salad was flavorful and the perfect size for sharing. The lamb in the Lamb Ragu was cooked perfectly, and the pasta had a great texture and chew. The Pappardelle Bolognese was hearty, meaty, and equally well executed. Portion sizes for both dishes were just right and satisfying without being overwhelming. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and had a pleasant dining experience. My only critique is that both pasta dishes could have used a little more seasoning, particularly salt, to make the flavors pop a bit more. Aside from that, Eddie's delivered a good Italian dinner with friendly service and good value.

Multiple times we had to flag down other servers just to get basic service, and we asked for a dessert menu three separate times before it showed up. Most concerning, my toddler has an egg allergy, and we had to confirm multiple times whether dishes contained egg. At one point the waiter responded that it "wasn't a big egg allergy," which was a confusing and honestly worrying thing to hear when asking about food safety for a child. On top of all that, the affogato wasn't actually an affogato -- it was just frozen vanilla ice cream with frozen espresso, not the classic hot-espresso-poured-over-ice-cream dessert we expected. Food overall was subpar, we also saw 3 of the wait staff take a shot of alcohol with another table while completing ignoring service for our table. Overall, a disappointing experience with very slow, inattentive service and a concerning lack of clarity around allergy safety. We definitely will not recommend to family and friends, and will go out of our way to mention to any travelers to the area to avoid this place!

Very, very good. My BF had the spaghetti and meatballs. He was very happy with his dish. Both dishes were good sized too. My mother had the baked penne bolognese and she loved it. It was huge and was able to take some home. The other two in our group had the chicken marsala and a shitake and sausage pizza. Both were very happy with their dishes. Our server was an Indian gal, who was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. We always ask to have each course spaced out. It is a major pet peeve of mine if I'm eating my pre-dinner salad and my entree comes out while I'm still eating it. And that's not even at lower end restaurants, but at nicer restaurants too. They just don't care, they just want you out of there so they can serve the next table. Of course, we asked our server for the same here, to please not bring each course until we've finished the previous course. And was sooo happy when that is exactly what she did. It all has to do with the server and when she turns the order into the kitchen. She was excellent. We will be coming back for sure.

Even if you're firmly on Team "Pineapple Doesn't Belong on Pizza," this one might make you question your life choices. The crust deserves some love too. To wash it down, I paired it with a Blind Pig followed by a Happy Hops IPA. Both were outstanding, and if you're already at Russian River, not trying at least a couple of their beers should probably be considered a misdemeanor. The original brew master became the co-owner when the winery left the beer business in 2003. It was then moved this location in 2004, opening as a brewpub. It's been on my list of places to visit for a while, so my wife, her mom, and I took the opportunity to stop in for a Thursday night dinner on our way to San Francisco from Fort Bragg. The inaugural double IPA (aka Imperial IPA) was made by the current co-owner at a different brewery in 1994. Double means it uses double the hops and malts, and the ABV is quite a bit higher. He then created Pliny the Elder (ABV 8.0%) in 2000, recognized as the most famous DIPA. The track continued, with Pliny the Younger in 2005, a triple IPA (using triple the hops and malts with ABV of 10.25%). This version is available once a year in the spring, since it costs so much money and time to make. With so much malt being used, a large amount of time (and hops) is needed to balance. I've had Pliny the Elder in bottles before, and really liked it: I don't like the hoppy 'piney' taste in my beers, but also recognize that not enough will make the beer too sweet (which I've been facing with a lot my island beers lately). Parking is street only, but there was a lot of it, with the metered parking only requiring payment till 6 pm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and immediately seated at a table near the bar. As expected, it was quite loud, with after work folks having a good time. We got menus, ordered our food, and then decided what to do about flights. The brewery is also known for their Belgian style and thus offers two different flights. It was my first time, and didn't know how much my wife could help, so decided to order the California Sampler (a selection of 12 different West Coast 5 oz. pours of ales and lagers for $15.45) to start: O.V.L. Stout (Old Vic Loyals) - Irish nitro stout - really beginning to love stouts, and this one was good. Velvet Glow - lager - solid. Ending up buying 6 pack to bring home ($12.99) STS Pils - pilsner. Bought a 6-pack for $12.99. Russian River Porter - Blind Pig IPA - West Coast IPA Happy Hops - Juicy IPA Mosaic Stack - West Coast IPA SimCoe 25 - West Coast IPA Citra Flash Mob - West Coast IPA Mind Circus - Hazy IPA DDH Pliny the Elder - really good. bought two cans at $5.99 each. Pliny the Elder - the original Felt pretty good, so decided to order the Belgian Sampler (9 different for $13.63), Surprisingly, I didn't like it nearly as much (my favorite fruit beer during this trip was the Howzit Punch beer). Petite Robert - table beer Little White Lie - Belgian White Robert - saison Perdition - biere de sonoma Damnation - golden strong ale Mortification - quad Supplication - sour brown ale Intinction - barrel aged pilsner Consecration - sour dark ale In terms of the food, it was solid. The 8 pc chicken wings ($17) were good, and the cheesy garlic bread ($10) was filling. I had the meatball sandwich ($16) and upgraded the fries to a spinach salad (+$4): it was tasty, loved the toasted French bread and marinara sauce, with the meatballs being OK (tasted from frozen)...loved the spinach salad with strawberries and blue cheese. We finished off our meal with a Vinnies (co-owner) sundae: good vanilla ice cream with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a lot of almond slivers. Payment was at the table, and me being again very pleasantly surprised at how little the flights were (a typical brewpub where they charge $3-$4 per 5 oz, would have cost 4 times as much...though of course I wouldn't have drunk as much either).

I tried the coffee and peach, but neither tasted good to me. I ended up asking the server what were the popular flavors. Then I got a split scoop $6.25 of DUTCH COOKIE and PISTACHIO CHERRY. They were both really good. It tasted like real, homemade ice cream to me. There are just a few seats by the window. No outdoor seating. Parking: You will need to find metered street parking spots around the area. No bathroom. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. No Wifi.

I stumbled upon a pizza joint named "Gio's Pizzeria," and to my dismay, it shared its name with my arch-nemesis, Gio. Now, Gio was not your typical foe; he was known for his peculiar habit of collecting vintage pizza cutters. Yes, you heard it right--pizza cutters. His obsession reached such heights that it became a running joke among our friends. The moment I spotted the sign, memories of our epic battles over the absurdity of vintage pizza cutters flooded my mind. Despite my initial resistance, I decided to give Gio's Pizzeria a chance, as I had heard raving reviews about its delectable pizzas. The menu boasted a variety of mouth-watering toppings, and the culinary adventure that awaited seemed too tempting to resist. As I entered Gio's Pizzeria, the enticing aroma of freshly baked dough and rich tomato sauce filled the air. The ambiance was cozy, and the soft glow of the ambient lighting created an inviting atmosphere. However, my joy was short-lived as I noticed the walls adorned with vintage pizza cutters of all shapes and sizes. It was as if Gio himself had designed the interior to torment me. I tried my best to focus on the menu, but the relentless gaze of the pizza cutters made it challenging to appreciate the culinary delights before me. I ordered a pizza recommended by the waiter, hoping that the exquisite flavors would distract me from the ever-present cutters. Do not be a patron of this restaurant. The owner is a bully and a misogynist pig. He is beyond rude and offensive to female employees especially and enjoys making them cry, I have seen this on many occasions. He is extremely emasculated by strong female personalities and cannot be around them. Never order a salad from this place. Just trust me on this. Don't do it.
