The experience felt off right from the start. The host seemed awkward, and our server wasn't much better. One person at our table was pretty much ignored, and another was made to feel uncomfortable just for asking questions about a dish. The server even assumed we wanted chicken, then acted annoyed when we corrected him, saying he'd have to "start all over" in the system. The food was not great. The garlic bread was especially bad, served halfway through dinner, sitting in a bowl FULL of still-boiling oil. Overall, we'll pass on coming back and would not recommend. read more

I was not expecting much from a Tomatina chain restaurant, but was actually very pleased with the quality of the food. We had a group of 6 for a very early dinner. To begin with we ordered drinks off the Happy Hour menu and the calamari and the chicken wings for appetizers off of the Happy Hour menu as well. Both apps were excellent. The chicken wings were very crispy and perfectly cooked and came with a garlic ranch dressing and nice and crunch carrots and celery. The calamari was crispy and came with four different sauces, which were very good. Each of our group ordered a different entree. I ordered the chicken parmesan. It was two medium-sized pieces of chicken, perfectly pounded, with a crispy breading and sauteed with melted cheese on top. It had a side of spaghetti noodles and sauteed garlic spinach. Very, very good. My BF had the spaghetti and meatballs. He was very happy with his dish. Both dishes were good sized too. My mother had the baked penne bolognese and she loved it. It was huge and was able to take some home. The other two in our group had the chicken marsala and a shitake and sausage pizza. Both were very happy with their dishes. Our server was an Indian gal, who was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. We always ask to have each course spaced out. It is a major pet peeve of mine if I'm eating my pre-dinner salad and my entree comes out while I'm still eating it. And that's not even at lower end restaurants, but at nicer restaurants too. They just don't care, they just want you out of there so they can serve the next table. Of course, we asked our server for the same here, to please not bring each course until we've finished the previous course. And was sooo happy when that is exactly what she did. Located in Montgomery Village in front of the road. Tomatina provides plenty of parking, either on the front or the back. I went on a random weekday and ordered online. They had my food ready pretty quickly. I went inside to pay and using their online service is pretty convenient. I ordered the pasta trio, and it was perfectly cooked. However, the last time I ordered it, the lasagna was missing): but I think it might have been a rush error. I have ordered it other times and it has always come out perfect but this time it was missing something. Nevertheless, the food was still really good. If you're going to come here come for happy hour! The appetizers are worth it in my opinion. I really enjoyed the calamari and the bruschetta. I ordered the Alfredo fettuccini with shrimp and it had minimal sauce to be honest and had minimal taste. It wasn't the worst or the best but I wouldn't order again. The service was not that great. My friend ordered the caprese salad and then she didn't realize it came with only cheese and asked the server about it and he told her that's the dish and proceeded to give us the menu to show us he wasn't lying. More than half the time our server was ignoring us. He would avoid our table for whatever reason. When I tried to ask for dessert he pretended he didn't hear me as he was rushing back and forth. He did however tell us he was in a hurry to get home because he had gifts to open.... We ended up not getting dessert and just leaving. Overall I was not impressed. Appetizers definitely worth it! This is a chain restaurant, and food is pretty consistent. It's not amazing food, but it's not bad! I got the lemon chicken entree, but I substituted the pasta for the mista salad! The lemon chicken is breaded with red spices, and served with a lemon wedge. I would order it again! And I love the mista salad! I've ordered delivery from Tomatina a couple of times and have been very satisfied. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and the Shrimp Pomodoro, both of which were tasty. Although Chicken Parmesan is historically a favorite dish of mine, the Shrimp Pomodoro stood out as the more memorable dish. We dined in on a Sunday afternoon during Restaurant Week for their three-course lunch menu. The restaurant was fairly empty; maybe one or two other tables were occupied, yet the welcoming service was lukewarm, and we had to request the Restaurant Week menu specifically. The ambiance was casual and family-friendly, with a balance between a cozy neighborhood Italian spot and a polished chain restaurant. While our server was kind and attentive, the pacing was off--our salads and pastas arrived simultaneously, making the meal feel very rushed. Instead of enjoying each course at a comfortable pace, we found ourselves juggling bites, trying to finish our salads before they wilted and our pasta before it cooled. Aside from that, the food and cocktails were excellent. The basil lime cocktail is a new favorite of mine--light, refreshing, and well-balanced. I could easily eat the Mixta Salad every day; it was that good. When deciding between pasta with meat or the Portobello Fettuccine, I'm glad I chose the latter because it was fantastic, and I didn't miss the meat one bit. The Penne Bolognese delivered as well. It was meaty, had tons of cheese, and was flavorful. The tiramisu didn't disappoint, either. As for the garlic rolls, I'm not sure it was worth ordering. I had a better experience this time here. I was at a luncheon with 20 people and I really appreciated that you can order & pay through your phone. That works nicely with a large party. The white sauce base soup was horrible. Wife sent it back for minestrone. That wasn't much better. My lasagna came out and the red sauce was just, sweet. Like they used sugar when they should have used garlic pepper. We only ate a few bites of anything. Waiting for the check, I started to notice that my sinuses were completely closing up. The menu said IPA, but they poured "Little Something". Not an IPA. Little Something is a wheat based beer. Which causes many, including myself, pretty bad allergic reactions. I decided to have my 70th birthday party at this lovely restaurant. I had 20 people and they took the reservation without any down payment. I really appreciated that all they said was to tell them if it changed. The room was nice and cozy and we had a nice long table so we could all set. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They took our orders and brought us our food fairly quickly, considering there are so many of us. I had a salad that had mixed greens, gorgonzola, pickled red onions, candied walnuts, dried cranberries and honey mustard vinaigrette. It was delish I got the half order and was able to take some home. There was so much. The garlic rolls were very tasty also. My friends all had different dishes and everybody. Staff was unprofessional, we were not greeted/welcomed in or seated even though staff on the floor looked at us as we walked in. Hostess scratched herself under her shirt as she approached us and grabbed menus with the same hand. Waiter asked for our order then proceeded to cut us off mid sentence which felt very rude. Food-wise, it was not good either, bread rolls were undercooked and very gummy in the middle while still being hard on the outside. Chicken wings were ordered were very dry and chewy which made us feel as if they had been sitting out a while. The Fettuccine Alfredo had little sauce and even less flavor. Went back with relatives 2 nights later. Service again was slow, with no condiments on the table like Parmesan cheese, peppers, salt, pepper, olive oil or spices. We did order the bread as an appetizer, and they bake it fresh to it took over 20 minutes to reach us. In fact from where I was seated, I could see our dinners waiting under the lamps because they had once again bunched up the order rather than spacing it out. By request I asked to be allowed to eat the appetizers we ordered before they brought us our dinners - and so the dinner sat until we were done. It's very basic folks at Tomatina - space the meal for your customers. If they ordered appetizers then hold off on submitting their meal order. Sheesh. You'd think it was rocket science, lol. But we were there as a couple on Tuesday night, then returned Thursday with relatives, and it was the same.... That said, the veggie pizza plus pepperoni was delicious, as was my spaghetti and meatballs, as was another's 3 part sampler of pasta/pesto, lasagna, and fettuccine alfredo. We had a quick trip with some friends of ours for work. We decided to stop here for dinner. We ordered for appetizers the Parmesan bread and the garlic rolls. Both were stellar! My friends ordered a pizza and chicken parm, they loved it! My husband ordered a special for October which was chicken prosciutto rigatoni, he was in heaven. I ordered the lemon chicken that came with Alfredo pasta (I opted to leave out the tomatoes/peas). It was literally one of the best chickens I've ever had, the flavor was insane. Pasta was good too, only thing I wish is that the Alfredo was thicker, it was a little too thin and didn't stick to the pasta well. However it tasted great! We also got the apple crisp dessert and that was awesome too! Service was good and ambiance was peaceful! If we ever come back to Santa Rosa we will be back! read more

We used to frequently order the family meals with one or two entrees and, in 2023, one dish was so small and just not enough to feed our family. Tonite, perfect! I definitely expect to get what I pay for with respect to increasing prices. I mean, if you only get one entree of fettuccine and chicken of which is minimal, c'mon! I really wanted to like this place, walking up the aroma smelled amazing. Then we walked in, the place was pretty dead yet waited a good five minutes to be sat. Our server was not nice at all very short and no good customer service at all. The only staff member who said thank you or even asked if my water needed a refill was from what I would assume was the bus boy. The rest of the staff I interacted with also had the same they didn't want to be at work or bothered attitude. For an app got the meatballs came with some really good bread. After the app I thought the food would take over for the poor service. Then came the main dish. Detroit style pizza. Honestly I'm not trying to be mean but I've had better Detroit style from little ceasers. Greasy in the middle and whatever topping was put on top was very off putting. We had a great experience at Tomatina! The entrance is on the far right of the building and when we walked in there wasn't that many people dining in at the time so we were sat right away. We decided to go there for dinner on Wednesday night got there about 8 o'clock at night and was sat down promptly. Ordered large large chopped salad and a bowl of leek potato soup.For dinner most Italian restaurants offer bread right away while you wait for your meal.But no mention of bread so I asked and they brought bread and was very pleased with it but wasn't very impressed that they didn't offer.The waiter said they made it there and it was delicious.The soup and salad was brought out,the salad was delicious as usual but the soup was unbelievably watery and tasteless with 4 pieces of leaks 5 little pieces of Italian sausage and basically tasteless watery broth.we both took one sip and couldn't believe they would ever serve such a ridicules mess. I called the waiter over told him the problem as he picked up the bowl it was just like picking up a bowl of water,as he almost spilled it.He said that he would talk to whom ever that made it the next day because they had already went home for the evening.The food is mostly great but the service needs to be improved by offering the same services as other Italian restaurants.Get bread out right away to start dining and relaxing while your food is being prepared.One thing to mention was the waiter wanted to first sat us with 3 other tables to where it was very noisy while plenty of room elsewhere was available so I asked to be seated differently and was granted a much nicer area.It seemed like a confusing evening but hopefully the next time will be better. read more

Went to Tomatina prior to going to a concert last night, six of us in our group. We've tried Tomatina in the past and did not have a memorable experience, so went in to this a bit apprehensive. I believe they changed their POS from the last time, kinda threw our group off a bit. Using the QR code technology, thankfully the wait staff allowed some in our group to go the old fashioned way, with paper menus and live ordering. That was a relief. We got various items at our table. I went with the fettuccini Alfredo and it was stellar, with penne, there was option to add shrimp or chicken, but just went with the straight past. I'd go back just for that. My wife loved her calzone. Our friends got a trio pasta plate that they devoured and said was very good. A great experience across the board. read more

wow, I was so surprised by how delicious tomatina is! I just went for the first time for restaurant week, and it also happened to be happy hour, so we also tried all the food on happy hour. The calamari is one of the best I've ever tasted! We also got the mama meatballs, and it definitely was the most delicious meatball I've ever eaten! I'm not even a meatball person, but I would get this every time. That's how good it is. We also got the personal pizza, and the fresh mozzarella was perfectly melted and soft with a perfectly cooked dough to go with it. the salmon pasta was also delicious. Came here expecting to be blown away after seeing all the great reviews but we left underwhelmed. To begin, the food was lacking flavor. I started with a Caesar salad and it just tasted like lettuce. The dressing was watery, and it lacked seasoning. For the main meals, we all got pastas. I got the baked bolognese and when I tasted it, it had absolutely zero seasoning. My wife got the pasta trio and the only thing that had any flavor was the lasagna. I hate asking for salt and pepper at a restaurant. I find it insulting to the chef/cook. I also feel a good chef/cook will season the food properly. This is one of the only times I've ever had to ask for salt. The sauce was watered down and thin and the flavor was much like the water like consistency. It was just lacking all flavor. All of the pasta we had were lacking seasoning. The only one of our party that had good tasting food was our youngest son who ordered a cheese pizza from the kids menu. The worst part of our experience was the smell. Someone used the bathroom and the entire dinning room smelled like a dirty port-a-potty. Our server said it was a big problem with people coming in that are walking around Montgomery village and just going into the restroom. Also, that the door dash drivers will come in and go use the bathroom. It was a horrible thing to have to sit through and eat while smelling someone's bathroom blowup. I have never eaten at Tomatina. We arrived at 630 pm on a Saturday night and there were plenty of seats available. We were a party of six and the Host allowed us to sit anywhere, There is a place card on the table where you can scan a QR code and look at the menu. I am used to those now so I could figure that out. It also says you can order and pay with the QR code. I could not figure that out, I am too old. The waitress took a little time to arrive at our table but once there, she was great at taking our drink order and providing a couple of menus for us to peruse. Throughout the night, the server, Aneri, was great. Two couples ordered through Aneri and one ordered through the App. My wife and I ordered a large Mixta salad with mixed greens, gorgonzola, pickled red onions, candied walnuts, dried cranberries and honey mustard vinaigrette. It was only $2 more than the standard salad. It was HUGE. We shared it with the other members of our group even though two others had ordered the standard salad. It was very fresh and tasted great! We all loved the salad. (The only thing that could have made it a more enjoyable experience is fresh bread as provided at many Italian restaurants.) We then ordered a special trio of pasta, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Lasagna and rigatoni pesto. The Fettuccine Alfredo was very good although I didn't get any chicken until the last bite, I enjoyed the flavor. The pesto was good and the Lasagna was very good as well. I would order any of the three by themselves but I would order Lasagna first, Alfredo second and lastly the Pesto. For us, splitting the pasta and salad worked out great. I am not much for splitting plates but we were going to an 80's band performance and did not want to be full. We did not succeed. We were all full. Others in our group ordered various kinds of pasta and a Calzone and all said they were great. We ended up ordering an Apple crisp to finish off the evening and it was great as well. Nice and hot apple crisp with a toasted oat topping, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. We all shared a couple of servings and it was the perfect end to the dining experience. I had been to Tomatina many times when I lived in Walnut Creek and wanted to try this location since the other was always delicious. Bad idea! To start the garlic rolls were nasty, dripping in oil with not a lot of garlic. The meat lasagne was one of my favorites but here all I tasted was clumpy tomatoes, I needed a microscope to see the two tiny pieces of sausage in the dish. My husband got the chicken marsala which was just as bad. Overpowering garlic on the chicken, no mushrooms, average marsala. This place crushed my memories of the Tomatna I used to enjoy. read more

We really wanted to love this place because it seemed like they may have had a hard time during COVID. For those of you who are not sure, here was our experience: The outside of the restaurant looks very appealing. Walking into the restaurant, it did have a chain field to it. They offered a order on app service, but there was a waiter there if we preferred to order that way. It did make it feel a little impersonal and it would have been nice to have a real menu to order off of. We ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. It was good but not worth $20 in our opinion. We also ordered two large pizzas. Which where delicious and very LARGE. We ordered two thinking we would have a bit to take home - we had about two more meals worth! Good home made ranch and great garlic bread. The service was not great. Because people are able to order without the waiter, it seemed like the staff was not fully used to waiting on the customers like a traditional restaurant. We didn't get plates when we were served our pizza and had to ask a few times for ranch. I would also recommend that salt and pepper be placed on the tables. My last experience here was many years ago and it was not so great, but we decided to try again. The service was okay, but refills on drinks were not offered once, likely due to the amount of other issues. They were out of shrimp, pesto, and Kalamata olives. 3/5 of us that ordered had to make alternate choices after placing the order. We ordered the Brussel sprout appetizer, but it didn't ever come. My son and I both settled for Spaghetti Alfredo after learning that they were out of pesto. His was super salty, mine was not. There was next to no sauce on either of them, but they brought additional sides of Alfredo upon our request, which was decent. The kids spaghetti and meatballs was extremely salty, the saltiest of all of the dishes. The other two dishes we ordered were problematic as well, but it wasn't worth complaining any more. The Mediterranean salad was extremely overdressed and came with black olives instead of Kalamata. asked if they had any Kalamata olives and the server brought another side of black olives. I couldn't finish the oil rig they called a salad. The manager eventually came over to inform us that the vendor keeps sending the wrong olives and apologized for the issues. The meal service was entertaining at the least as we found some humor in the fact that they were out of so much and had so many issues. The manager did give us a 25% discount without us even asking, which was appreciated. We got the "100% SALTY" discount as well as the "Out of Pesto Inconvenience" discount, which were certainly the highlights of the meal ticket. I don't think we will be returning. It is 6 years since our last visit and it's still the same runaround. If you are out of menu items, or know you just don't have them, you should seriously change the menu. I have been to Tomatina for appetizers and they were delicious. But I have to say last week I went there for dinner it was so disappointing. I ordered minestrone soup and a salad. My mom ordered a pasta with chicken dish. For appetizers we ordered shrimp in garlic butter. The shrimp and salads were good. The soup was so plain. Same goes for the pasta. The food tasted like they heated up frozen meals. Parmasan cheese was not even offered. When I did get some parmasan it did not help the soup or pasta one bit. I never write reviews and I have ordered from this restaurant many times. I ordered the family meal which including delivery is $75. I watched the delivery driver as He was there waiting and when the order arrived, which is only less than a mile from the restaurant, it was ice cold barely any chicken in the pasta. The pasta did not even fill the container which again I know typically was always full from all of my past orders. The sauce for my garlic bread wasn't even half of the container and the croutons were stale. I called and was told that nothing can be done and I was put on hold for not even a minute so I know that they weren't concerned about fixing the issues. I would've been happy to return the food as delivered due to the fact that I hadn't even put a dent in my order. we all make mistakes over it how you handle it and there response was worse than I thought especially because it is not a small order.
