I've never been more disappointed in pizza in my life. Honestly, I've had frozen pizza better than this. The employee was very friendly! (: However, I got a huge order for my family because of the reviews but I was highly disappointed! The shrimp in the Shrimp Scampi was overcooked, my pizza crust was burnt, the meatballs were undercooked, the garlic knots were hard, the garlic bread was oddly crumbly, and because of all of that... i didn't even try the lasagna. WORSE PART: The was a huge cockroach in the restaurant!

We had a cheese pizza & the barbecue pizza. Both were delicious as you can see in the second picture, there was nothing left! It reminded me of the pies I'd get in NY, and now that I'm not there, I'm always searching for that pie! This is the place! Service was great, very friendly, we'll be back for sure!

UPDATE 2/6/17 HOURS OF OPERATION: MON - FRI 11 AM until 7:30 PM SAT, NOON - 8 PM SUN - CLOSED I parked out front today at 10:50 AM thinking they'd open at 11 ...don't know what made me think that, but I did. I began reading a review which said they were closed on Sunday and Monday so I decided to leave since the doors weren't opening and no one was anywhere in sight at 10:58. As I turned around, I saw lights coming on and decided to park in back and walk around. LUCKILY, They were opening and I walked in, noticing the painted window that had the hours posted. I've been craving their Gyros for over a week now, and I am ECSTATIC they're open today!!! ************************************** Deserves 10 STARS!! We rode by this place a hundred times and said one day we'd stop. Today we did. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent. My hubby ordered the beef/lamb gyro and I ordered the chicken. We're simply dumb for living here for over three years and not eating here sooner. My husband and I both had calzones that were amazing! They're also huge, so we're already looking forward to having the leftovers for dinner tonight. We ordered the children's portion of spaghetti for our five year old. He ate it like it was going out of style, and he's also still got enough for dinner tonight. The hummus and pita were fantastic as well. It's some of the best hummus that I've had since moving to Georgia. The service was perfect. The staff was super friendly and our waitress was awesome. She didn't hover over us and bother us through the entire meal, but she was always around if we needed something. From the very beginning up until walking out, there's absolutely nothing bad that I have to say about our visit. We will definitely be back many more times in the future! read more

I've been searching for a pizza place like this for a long time now. You know when you watch a movie or tv show and see a New York style pizza in it and think to yourself "wow, that looks really good...I wish I could find a place that has pizza like that." Well this place has it. The dough I the best part. It's fairly thin and crispy, but still foldable. I ordered the pepperoni classic and I couldn't have been happier. When I went in to pick up my pizza, everyone was very friendly. Highly recommend!!! read more

I called in and ordered a large pepperoni and bacon pizza. The pizza was ready within 15 min. This was my first time coming here so I let him know that. He promised me that I'd be a regular and I'm pleased to say he was right. The pizza is really good I'm glad I went. It's has a thin crust but it's so good. Give it a try. read more

Food was good-however the service was horrible. Had to ask for drinks to be refilled. Wait staff was tuned into the tv broadcast rather than the customer. I would've rated lower had the food not been decent. The hummus and pita were marginal. Edited: I had this as a 2-star review. However, upon leaving one of the cooks in back yelled across the restaurant to the clerk, "do we have any ant spray." We won't be back! read more

We have driven by this place a few times and saw that the place was empty. Despite that first fact we went in. The hummus was mehh it was microwaved with olives on top. It didn't look like the picture for sure. Joey ordered the Greek pizza it was good he said not the best. Well that was all fine and dandy until my drink was knocked over by the waitress putting the food in front of me. I know it was an accident but no apologies were offered till we got our bill. The entire bill. I was soaking wet from sweet tea all over my legs and lady parts. We had other things to do in town and driving back home to shower and change wasn't on the agenda. Nothing was done to ensure we will return. The food was good but the service wasn't. 2 stars for food. 0 stars for experience.. read more

No breastfeeding and having to cover baby's head with a dish rag is wrong. Do not come to this place and try to find another pizza place. By the way it's not one of the best pizza places here anyways. This is not a misunderstanding by restaurant owners so don't be trying to cover up and make an excuse. read more

Outstanding New York Style Calzones, Strombolis, and Pizza. I have been looking for a good pizza place down here in the Columbus, GA area for a while. I had no idea this place even existed until I drove by. Things to know: 1) Cash Only...and there is no ATM in the restaurant 2) Not open on Sunday's...think Chic-fil-a 3) They close at 8:00 p.m., but they stop serving at 7:30 p.m...get your order in before they turn off the ovens 4) Their phone is never connected...so you got to order in person 5) The food is awesome! read more

I read all of the reviews and my family was very excited to eat here. I was not expecting the self-serve atmosphere. We sat at a table then realized we had to order at the counter. Once we were given our cups for tea (if you wanted soda you bought a $1.00 refrigerated can), I proceeded to fill our cups myself. I did this using ice from a cooler and tea in pitchers. I am pretty sure this is a health risk. The pizza was good, and their menu had a lot of options. read more

Best pizza in Alabama/ Columbus Georgia. My son has been dying for an authentic meatball sub. We get here and this dude orders a Gyro. LOL. Well I order a Stromboli supreme. Not like Italian and greek food thats home made vs manufactured. I have been dying to eat here but never seem to have time or catch them open. Next time I have to bring my other son and try the pizza. I wonder if they make Sicilian??? Our server, Addison was such a personality and knowledgeable about the menu. Her service convinced me that I could trust her with basically anything. The alcohol beverage selection shows a solid understanding of the classics, particularly when it comes to beers. The staff greeted us warmly upon arrival and smoothly guided us to our seats. Service was friendly overall, though the young woman taking our order was somewhat terse in her descriptions. When selecting wursts, she mistakenly grabbed two identical links despite my request for variety--easily corrected, but a small miss. Fortunately, the knowledgeable short-haired bartender more than compensated, offering thoughtful guidance to other guests on the beer list. The menu itself deserves praise: clear, informative descriptions paired with photographs that prove especially helpful for those less familiar with authentic German cuisine. One notable drawback is the beverage situation. There are no fountain drinks--only bottled and very few selections. and the menu fails to clarify this or detail the drink options at all. For someone who enjoys water throughout a meal to refresh the palate between rich bites, this came as an unwelcome surprise. The Bayerische Brezel arrived as a generously proportioned giant pretzel, beautifully baked with a satisfying chew and perfectly balanced salt crust. Regrettably, the accompanying beer cheese had clearly been microwaved, betrayed by the telltale ring of scorched cheese around the bowl's edge--a disappointing touch. We also requested mustard, which never materialized. The Doppelte Wurstplatte id what I picked and I chose the Gyulai and Landjäger, and the Gyulai was nothing short of masterful: a resounding snap from the casing gave way to an explosively juicy interior packed with deep, well-seasoned flavor. You can taste the pride and precision in every bite--one of the finest wursts I've encountered. I only regretted being on my motorcycle and unable to take several home. The Landjäger, smaller in stature, delivered excellent flavor with its own satisfying snap. While its interior was slightly drier (as is typical for this salami-style sausage), it remained thoroughly enjoyable. Both sausages would happily return to my table. The Spätzle with mushroom sauce featured clearly house-made noodles with ideal springy texture and a well-balanced sauce. It could have used a bolder hand with salt and pepper, plus a more generous scattering of mushrooms, but it was still a very satisfying plate. The Bratkartoffeln arrived less than piping hot, suggesting they had been waiting a few minutes. That said, the seasoning blend was exceptional--bold, complex, and so good I'd happily buy it by the jar. More of that magic dust on the potatoes would have been welcome. The Kroketten were golden and gorgeous, offering a crisp exterior and luxuriously fluffy, creamy interior. While they were a touch mild on their own, they became addictive when dipped into the cream sauce the main was covered in. I could easily demolish an entire bucket of these. The Knödel impressed with textbook execution: perfectly cooked with that ideal balance of fluffy yet substantial density that defines a great dumpling. If you appreciate traditional German dumplings, this is a must-order. Finally, the Rahmschnitzel was a quiet triumph--lightly breaded, fried to golden perfection, and paired with a flavorful, velvety cream sauce. Simple, classic, and executed exactly as it should be. Overall, this is a heartfelt spot with several standout items (especially those wursts) that more than justify a visit. With a few small refinements in execution and service details, it could become a true destination for anyone craving authentic German comfort food.

The food is great but the owners wife told my wife she had to cover up while breastfeeding because she was a Christian and it offended her to see my wife breastfeeding. The owners wife then took a dish rag/towel and put it over my daughter and wife without asking for permission after we informed her that under federal and state law my wife did not have to cover up. I don't see how feeding our daughter is offensive. I hate to say it cause the food really is good but we will not be back. My wife's and daughters rights were violated because this woman felt uncomfortable and said that it on her premises we could not breastfeed openly as allowed by law anywhere public and private. First let me say that I was born and raised in New York and ever since moving down to Alabama I have been hard pressed finding anything close to a true authentic New York style pizza. Until today... Giovanna is quaint store front tucked away on the corner of 16th street in Phenix City, but what lies inside is no ordinary cut and paste "southern" pizzeria. The pizza I had today took me back to my days of walking the streets of Brooklyn. We decided to have the most common pizza there is to truly gauge how Giovanna stacked up against other pizza places. I had remembered searching before for a place and came across this place, ultimately we went with another place instead HOWEVER not this time. I suggested it and we decided to try it out. It was 100% WORTH it! The food was amazing! I got the Cuban sandwich while my husband got the Calzone. They both were full of flavor and came out hot! Best pizza I've had in many years at a very resonable price! The crust was crisp and the sauce was awesome. The staff provides top notch service as well. The owner made sure we were happy and even stopped to talk with us while we waited for our dinner. When you visit Giovanna's make sure to bring cash because they didn't except credit cards when we visited. No biggie though, the pizza is worth it. :-) I hope I can come back to Phenix City someday because I want another slice of that pizza. read more

If you live in the area and have never been - don't put if off another day. This is a great place, I love the exposed brick interior. Locally owned and operated - all of the staff are great and the food is delicious. There is plenty of variety on the menu but if you have trouble deciding I recommend the Cuban - you wont be disappointed. read more
