Husband and I ate here tonight. Our pizza was incredible, we had the meat lovers. Followed by cannoli and Ice cream. Love that there's a ice cream shop also inside. Service was wonderful. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient, bus boy was constantly pre-busing our table. Got to meet the owner Nelson. We had a great chat abt the history of the building and the area. He even gave me a tour of the building that's not a part of the restaurant. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back very soon. read more

GO! GO! GO! Amazing food. Friendliest staff- our drinks were always taken care of and they checked on us frequently. It was not fast, but as their very large, prominently displayed sign advises- all food is individually prepared so it will take time if they are busy, and they were. The wait was so worth it. The atmosphere is open and welcoming with fun music in the background allowing quiet conversation. The food...The pork on the Cuban was super moist and piled high. Pickles were chips not chopped but it still worked well for me. Their bread is to die for. Could only eat half and shared the rest at home with my daughter who has travelled the world and she couldn't get enough! :) The cheese pizza my niece ate was superb (looked so good I had to try it) and WOW! Had to order a large 4 meat pie to take to my husband who grew up in NYC and Orlando. Til now his favorite pizza has been Cerrones (was Johnnys before that). But this pizza had him, our son and daughter squabbling over who got the last piece! (He won!). We will be back regularly and will be bringing friends! Would give more stars if I could. The best calzone EVER! They made room for our unexpected group of 20. The owners were involved from the moment we walked in. They made us all feel welcome ans at home. And, did I say this? Best calzone EVER! I had the classic sausage. Meat, cheese, sauce and a crust the was both crunchy and soft. One big point about these folks: they closed at 8:00. Door locked, sign turned off. A member of the Army and his family tried the door, and when it was locked, they turned to walk away. The owner unlocked the door and yelled down the street, "Hey Army man, come on in". Fixed them their pizzas and stayed open well past closing. You owe it to yourself if you are in or near Phenix City or Columbus to stop by this great place! We stopped here on the ride back from our Florida vacation. The great reviews are well-deserved! We had a Greek Salad, a plate of the homemade hummus and the Supreme Calzone. The meal was outstanding, with the calzone as the highlight...it was full of delicious meats,cheese and veggies wrapped in a perfected crust. It was so big, my husband and I were able to share. Very disappointed today, went there from my going away lunch with some Co workers. First no Cuban sandwiches, so I ordered the schnitzel after everyone else got there food the owner came up and said sorry the schnitzel is going to take a long time. I didn't get an apology, I didn't even get my water refilled after that. So for going away lunch I didn't even eat. The food is good but the service has go eat down hill and they are always out of food. Maybe more time making sure they have supplies and the ability to take credit cards instead of changing the decor constantly. read more

This restaurant is the embodiment of the word "meh." Whoever is in the kitchen doesn't know how to prepare a Gyro sandwich. Arby's Gyro is closer to the real thing than what you get here. Just like the cook doesn't know how to make Alfredo sauce. It was thin, and runny. It tasted like cheap Kraft jarred crap. The only good thing about it was a nice waitress, and decent atmosphere in the place. I really wanted to like it, but now I'm thankful I was just passing through. read more

Great service. Beef Stromboli was delicious. I found Giovanni's on here and headed over without looking at hours. They close at 7:30pm, I arrived at 7:25. The door was open, I walked up and saw the hours, started to turn around and they brought me. Fed me like part of the family. As my Stromboli was served, the kitchen light was turned off and all but the owner left. He did not rush me. I wish I was in the area longer to try more on the menu. read more

The Owners used to have this place next to Lowe's in Columbus off Veterans Parkway. They were INCREDIBLE there as well. Usually you see low ratings on most of the places I rate. All of you already know I won't rate fast food high. The bulk of the time an old building is horrible, but I found this one to have nice character and the owners are always the best. OMG!!! I have an obsession with gyros and the one offered here is hands down the BEST!!!! Nothing processed here...the food is very authentic and made from scratch. Delicious New York style pizza! We love pizza, and Giovanna's did not disappoint. We were driving to Atlanta to pick someone up at the airport, and wanted to eat an early dinner, so I searched Yelp for Italian options in Columbus. Everywhere I considered was closed, and wouldn't open for dinner until 5. Yelp indicated that Giovanna's was open, but when we arrived, they were closed for lunch! (They close from 3 to 4.) It was 3:45, and the owner arrived just as my husband was returning to the car. He invited us in, seated us, got our drinks, and took our order. Two more parties arrived before 4:00, and everyone was greeted and treated cordially. My husband had a caesar salad and loved the dressing; we shared a cheese pizza. The pizza was done quickly, the owners were very nice, the decor was nice, and the music was fantastic. We will definitely look for an excuse to eat here again! Also, they are on Eastern time, not Central. We thought it was odd - we didn't pass an "Eastern Time Zone" sign until after we crossed the river, a few miles farther down from the restaurant. read more

I don't normally write reviews but... this was a nice find. We're from California and chose this place based off the previous reviews, figured - what the heck. Glad we gave it a chance. Pizza was delicious and our server was so helpful with our order. We also gor the Spinach salad which was pretty tasty as well. The hostess and lady behind the cashier which I took as the owner were extremely friendly and nice. I spoke with them for a bit and I am glad I did. During our conversation a male - I imagine husband/father - joined the conversation. They were super nice and he joked with me enough about our conversation to make me smile. Based on the great reviews, I had to try this place. Born and raised in Chicago,I've been looking for some good tasting pizza which does not exist in Columbus. Until I had Giovanna's pizza and calzone. The pizza has a New York flair to it with great flavors, and the massive calzones are awesome. I will definitely return to Giovanna's to try their roast beef sandwich which is gonna be a new item and a Chicago staple. Also their wide range of menu items will also be tackled, like the Cuban sandwich, Philly cheesesteak, tostones, and the schnitzel. My favorite part of my visit was meeting the owners who are very friendly and delightful. They also have a great staff. The food is made to order from scratch and very fresh, so there is a little wait. But all in all,great visit!!! read more
