My favorite Italian restaurant in Columbus! Every time I have come here has been a delight. Though the entree portions can be a bit large if you have had appetizers or salads beforehand, so maybe be ready to take something home. Dessert menu and wine list is also stellar. Loved the pistachio ricotta cake, personally. Great ambience, plenty of street parking around, and good service the three times I have been. A small quaint Italian restaurant that the locals come to often. I have been coming here for years and haven't got a chance to review. The restaurant is located across the street from Capitol University and next to the Drexel Theatre. Parking nearby is limited to street parking or a little walk away you can find a larger parking lot. We came this evening with our local friends who live in Bexley and seem to know everyone working here and dining here. Makes me feel like home everytime we dine here. The bar is always packed on the weekends and they have limited seating for larger groups so book ahead. It is louder in here given how small the space is. Reminds me of a restaurant in little Italy in New York City. They have an extensive wine list that any wine enthusiast would appreciate. I ordered the Cab-Sangioviose blend. A red blend that is not sweet and not to dry. Perfect to combine with my appetizer meatballs and caprese salad. The meatballs were tender to the fork and melted in my mouth. A perfect amount of sauce topped it with a few shavings of parmesan cheese. A must have! The caprese salad was simply seasoned with salt and olive oil. A perfect balance of heavy and light with the two appetizers paired. We celebrated a birthday and asked the waiter to provide us a few desserts. He got 4 for the table of our group of 7 and it was just enough! The chocolate cake was on the dry side but heavenly to any chocolate lover. The warm bread pudding was something that interested me. It was deliciously warm and sweet but savory with the raisins inside. The tiramisu was cold, creamy and spongy - that is exactly what it should look and taste like. We had a fourth on the plate but not sure what it was. It had pistachios and a jelly, cream texture. Not a fan but certainly tried it. Overall we had a great Friday evening enjoying the company of friends. We will come back since this our friends regular place to hang out. read more

Really great date night spot. I've only been a couple times, but everything I've tried has been delicious. The cocktails are creative and quite strong (in a good way). Definitely could've finished the octopus and carpaccio by myself, it was so good. I ordered the spaghetti alla carbonara and really enjoyed the al dente pasta and guanciale in this dish. I also sampled the shrimp diavolo and a piccata special served with fish. I've heard great things about the veal piccata and I'd love to return to try. The Tiramisu and other desserts were good, but not the most memorable part of the meal. It's very likely I was too full to enjoy. read more

You're paying for the atmosphere, which is pretty chic for Columbus. Great bar and drinks. As far as food, I can get this stuff anywhere, but I have zero complaints about it. Can get a little backed up at times, but the staff tries to move things as long as efficiently as possible. read more

Really nice place. Good wine list. Excellent homemade pasta. Lots of veal dishes. Out door seating available, but it was kind of warm and humid so we sat inside. The bruschetta was amazing, lots of tomato chunks and the drizzled balsamic was delightful. My companion selected a special and I chose a veal papparadelle dish. The courses were appropriately spaced and our waiter was attentive all evening. We lingered for more than 2 hours by our own choice. I, in fact had to physically remove my compatriot before he started on appertifs. I will return here every trip to Columbus. read more

Their food is usually very good. I have been going there since they first opened in 1996. Back then it was only half the current size and they had no liquor license. I have been a loyal customer for almost 30 years. However, I won't be going back ever again. My friend and I were put in the banquet/annex room that opened several years ago after we went to a matinee at the Drexel. It was 5:30 pm on a Saturday evening. We were the only people seated in that room. There were open tables everywhere in the main room. I counted at least ten. The host said that they were all reserved. We left without eating dinner. We went to The Top. There is no mention of reservations recommended on their website and no reservation "button." They cannot be accessed via "Open Table." I guess you have to know somebody in order to get a reservation. If reservations are so crucial, then it should be stated on their website and they should inform you of how to go about making a reservation. I'm sure I could go to my Quicken account and find out exactly how much money I have spent at Giuseppe's over the years. Let's just say it has been thousands of dollars I am sure. Goodbye Giuseppe's! I guess I am not cool or young enough for you anymore. When did you get so snooty? read more

This place was great for some good Italian food. I must say it was very overpriced, but my favorite thing was that the pasta was truly Al Dante. Five stars for the texture of the pasta. The pasta with seafood was absolutely amazing!. On another point, The bartender and staff seemed somewhat stuffy. It really wasn't a place you felt warm and welcome. We each got pasta for dinner with an eggplant appetizer and a couple drinks each. The happy hour drink prices were better than their normal prices, but those were still very escalated. Happy hour menu was still very much on the pricey side. Would I go back? I'm not quite sure. Maybe for the seafood pasta if I had a lot of extra money to spend. read more

My mom and I came out all the way out to Bexley to get my brother some Italian food, since this place appeared to have good reviews. We got there and it was CROWDED, so we were anticipating a really good meal. My mom and I ordered wine, which was solid. We ordered an antipasto platter, salads (Mediterranean style for my brother, Caesar for mom and I) and pasta -- mom did a classic spaghetti & meatballs, while my brother and I went for the Rollati di Spinaci. Service was on the slower side, even for a Saturday night, so it took us a while to get our food. When it was finally served, they accidentally gave my mother another Rollati di Spinaci, which they corrected fairly quickly once my mom pointed out the mistake. The food itself was decent; you can't go wrong with cheese and spinach and pasta, but being from Jersey, we're a little bit spoiled when it comes to Italian food, and service counts as much as food. I'll start with the good. The atmosphere is great. The service was very good. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The lemon sorbet was wonderful. I will preface the bad by saying I am from Louisiana and I am used to food that feature full flavors. Subtly is often lost on me - I am not a super taster. I got the smoked chicken ravioli. The cream sauce was a great texture and like I said the pasta was cooked to perfection but I expected to taste the smoke in the chicken - nothing. It was really bland in my opinion. My daughter got the tortiglioni. She hated it so I gave her my ravioli. I also didn't like it. It didn't hAve any particular flavor beyond tomatoes and garlic. The bread was eh. Lastly, the host we encountered was not particularly host like. He took our number and said he would text us when there was a table. He said the wait would be 30 mins. When we hadn't heard in 30 mins we came back to check in and they had lots of available tables. I am pretty sure he forgot about us. It felt like the kind of place that is very regulars centric and I could tell they love their regulars. I was jealous of them in fact . Anyway, I want to reiterate that I don't think this was "bad" Italian food. It just didn't appeal to my palate. I can tell there is passion in the kitchen. read more

It's not often I leave a review but the evening at Giuseppe's in Columbus was worth my time...i called from my Uber on the way out of downtown and inquired about walking in in 10 minutes.. I was told very nicely, to come on in..when I arrived, I was seated almost immediately...wasn't terribly full at 5:30, but that quickly changed...I would recommend reservations... in just a few seconds, Cierrah greeted me.. I had a beverage and warm bread with soft, tasty butter within minutes... it was quite delicious..I ordered the house salad and lasagna...food was served in a timely manner... beverage refilled without asking, food was very good, and service was perfect... several different servers were involved and all seemed on the same page...when my entree arrived, server was equipped with Parmesan cheese and grater...I was struck by the smiles and comradery amongst the staff..all looked like they enjoyed working there, and I have found that that is usually indicative of a fine establishment...place was full by now and easy to see why... good job Giuseppe and good job Cierrah. read more

This place is such an adorable little date spot tucked into Bexley. Being a Dublin resident, I don't venture into the town of Bexley too often. But I am glad I did! This is a cozy restaurant near Capital. It's quite small inside but they fit quite a few tables/booths in there. You are kinda crammed so if being close to others isn't your thing, you may want to skip this place. Our server was very friendly, but not very accessible. He went over the specials and took our orders, but that was kind of it. No checking in on us or anything. He was young, but still. If you go to a "fancier" place, you expect better service. Alas. The food though. THE FOOD. We got a meatball app. Which was amazing. My boyfriend ordered a "create your own pasta" deal. Got fettuccine Alfredo (he is a simple man). I got the lobster ravioli, which was very good. I could tell they did not skimp on the lobster bits and the sauce was great. We did not get a dessert, but they had plenty of options. Their wine/beer/cocktail menu was also very extensive. Full bar, and the bar area is very pretty. The service is why I knocked the star off. But it would not veer me from visiting again! read more

I am not a pasta expert but I was advised to come here for dinner one night and I do not regret the experience! Few pasta menus can be pricy but it really worth the money. Me and my bf ordered white vongole ($25), Gamberi Diavola ($24) and margherita ($19). Pizza was so-so but the pasta was lit! I was reluctant to choose diavola with marinara sauce cuz i had done this at countless restaurants over the years and I doubted this would be different. How wrong I was! I had the best pasta of my life in Ohio. It tasted like food you would expect in a restaurant in Italy. The atmosphere felt like being with a big Italian family having a meal lol. I also appreciated the honesty of the staff. She gave me great recommendations for wine and I liked it all. Staff and manager were very polite, friendly and fast. Service was attentive but not pushy. Few tips. First, there're not many parking spots, street parking only near restaurant so be careful for the time limit. Second, they close on Sundays. Every Monday night they might have a live music. My wife and I have driven by this restaurant a hundred times on our way to The Top, and every time I say, we need to try that place. So on our 31st wedding anniversary, we decided to give it a go. I don't typically do these reviews, so I'll keep it brief. Food was sub-par at best. My wife ordered the Melanzane Siciliani, and despite the description of Roasted Eggplant, Cheese, Herbs, Toasted Bread Crumbs Resting On Ricotta, it was basically two balls that looked and tasted like burnt hush puppies on a plate of cottage cheese. I am not exaggerating!!! I got the Beef Short Ribs, and I swear the mushroom demi-glace sauce was out of a can. Additionally the bar wait staff definitely cater to their "regulars" and no one came by to ask us how anything was. We will never be back! read more

We waited almost an hour to get our food (even multiple groups who ordered after us got their food before us). I flagged down the waitress to ask about our food and we were told the kitchen was "crazy back there." When we finally got our food, it was not good at all. Checked out an Italian restaurant near home called Giuseppe Ritrovo. Was not impressed at all. Decided to sit at the bar since it was very crowded. Arrived at the empty bar seat and waited a long time for the bartender to clean the debris/crumbs at the counter. The bartender looked confused why I didn't sit down. I pointed to the crumbs. Finally got cleaned up and cleaned the chair too. Very few gluten-free options - no gluten-free lasagna, really?! Ordered Italian Moscato, they don't serve that! I signed to them, "What Italian restaurant doesn't serve a typical Italian wine like Moscato?!" Then I told waiter/bartender "NO croutons in the salad". Then the bartender asked me, "Do you want bread?" If I order a gluten-free pasta = no gluten of any form. Waiters needs to be more educated about celiac disease/food allergies/sensitivities. Caesar salad arrived and it was full of croutons. I picked them out. What a huge difference of size when the bread crumbs are taken out, practically one cup worth. The gluten-free penne pasta was hard - I hate al dente --practically raw hard pasta and not much Alfredo sauce either. The bartender convinced me to take the dish back and chef will cook it some more. Returned it and it was still chewy. They gave me a free Italian after-drink which I didn't like, tasted like a strong licorice mouthwash. I will never go back there. read more

I noticed this restaurant on Yelp several years ago, thus was glad to finally try it out when friends picked it for their last meal in town before moving to Philadelphia. I noticed that it doesn't have the "best" of reviews - a lot of mixed experiences. However, after reading Giovanna's review, I was glad to join them! I love the simple, yet eclectic decor. The wooden wall behind the bar caught my eye! Cloth napkins. Fresh yellow rose bouquets on every table. Swanky and posh, but down to earth (no need for formal dress!). Oh, and their front patio is nice - great owning and flowers. It would be a plus if they could make it bigger. But, hey, no complaints! Nothing on the menu was jumping out, so I asked the waiter, nice polite gentleman btw, if they can concoct. Yes. Yay! So I went with the Gnoche, topped with veggies, mushrooms, chicken and their Alfredo sauce. The sauce was not what I was expecting. It was more... almost "tart". But not exactly. Not bad at all. And I know I'm just used to a more creamy, cheesy, get it out of the jar at Kroger kind, so this, in hind sight, was a great change of pace and flavor profile. The julienne-cut veggies and plenty of mushrooms were just icing on the cake! Giuseppe's is a smaller restaurant with adorable authentic, Italian decor. It's apparent that many of the patron's are regulars, which gives it a nice warm, comfortable feeling. They don't take reservations for parties less than six, but you can all ahead, which I recommend. It's also a bit challenging to find the first time, especially in the dark. So try to give yourself a few extra minutes for that and parking. It's a terrific date option, very romantic...date number three, perhaps? They offer daily specials of entrees, soups and desserts. If the special isn't so special in your mind, the entree list is almost endless. The tomato basil soup has a nice balance of spice and flavor, but the bowl is a little big if you're planning for a salad and entree to follow. They do serve some fresh bread and olive oil after ordering. Our server was okay, a little off on the taboos of service, but a nice guy. If you have the opportunity, ask to be seated in Anna's section. She's a doll and will make everything just right. read more
