They couldn't have been kinder or more efficient, both professionals and very good at what they do. Highly recommended. Only dinging a star as I couldn't find info on the website or in any of Glamsquad's communication re: what state the stylist would want my hair in when they arrived....dry? damp? wet? So some basic "prep" instructions would be super helpful. On the plus side, it was easy enough to contact them on the phone to ask. I have never posted a review before, but it was necessary this time. Booked 4 stylists back to back for an event. Was looking forward to it and wanted to love and support a business founded by women, but turned out to be a nightmare. Hair and makeup both rushed and unprofessional. One of the stylists had an aggressive attitude that made us feel very uncomfortable. Make up and tools looked poorly sanitized. Ended up completely washing our face and redoing our own make up. Hair had to be also corrected to look less matronly and dated. When my friend asked if certain detail about her make up can be changed slightly, the stylist completely ignored it. My roommate and I booked 2 back to back makeup appointments for a wedding - booked months in advance. Got a call the day before our scheduled appointment saying that our makeup artist was in contact with Covid and that they were cancelling our appointment and had no alternatives, no other appointments available, couldn't do anything to help us. We're told the best they could do for us was give us complimentary services in the future! I have no events in the future, I needed makeup done for this one event and this one event only - so now we're just screwed and have hardly any time to find an alternative. I understand that these things happen with Covid and there are unexpected obstacles but this is a horrible way to conduct business. They need to have alternatives available or professionals that can cover in the event that this happens. It's a horrible feeling to get a call saying that the service you've been depending on is cancelled and they can't do shit to help you. Will never use again, really disappointed and distraught. This is the message I wrote this morning to the company. Management and Service Team, I HAD THE WORSE EXPERIENCE THIS MORNING. I booked an appointment with you for this morning way in advance. My appointment was at 10am. My appointment is for an important job interview. I received a voice message at 9:15am to say the stylist would only be 15 minutes late and would arrive at 10:15am. Then, at 10:07am, I received another call, that the stylist would be another 15 minutes late. I missed this call because I was in the bathroom making my hair wet per instructions from glamsquad. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO CALL SO LATE WITH ANOTHER PUSH BACK. The rep who called never apologized any of the times. She kept saying "I UNDERSTAND". Clearly she doesn't! Also, I want an apology not that you understand English. I have an appointment and you are LATE again and AGAIN. Then I ask her where the hair stylist was and she said LES which is 30 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE. I was talking to this lady at 10:22am, which means the stylist will not be at my house till 10:52 at the earliest. THIS IS SO UNACCEPTABLE. Then, here is the kicker! The rep on the phone said that this doesn't include parking which may just take 2-3 minutes. IS SHE CRAZY? This is NYC. No one finds parking in 2-3 minutes. I had to run hair wet outside to find another salon. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR SEVICE. ALSO, your customer service people need A LOT OF TRAINING on how to deal with customers. I had a really important event yesterday afternoon that meant a lot to me. I booked a Glamsquad makeup appointment yesterday morning and it was confirmed for 2:30pm. I got 2 confirmations. 2:45pm rolls around. No one has arrived. I filled out the "contact us" form to ask for someone to make sure the artist was still on his way. I hired a Glamsquad make-up artist and hair stylist for a photo shoot last week to get new professional headshots. They had an hour before the shoot started to work their magic. One did hair; the other makeup. I shared photos of the hairstyle I wanted. I showed them previous headshots to give them an idea of the natural look I was going for. I ASSUMED they were professionals and so I sat down and let them do their thing. Long story short - my hair looked nothing like the look I was going for. I asked the stylist to fix a few things, but there was so much product in my hair, not much moved. Plus, she simply said she was out of time and had to leave, so she did and I was left trying to fix the outcome. Now for the make-up - this guy put an hours worth of make-up on my face. Could have been done in 20 mins, but I think he felt the need to keep doing more and putting more on my face. By the time he was done, I looked 10 years older! (ugh) We were running late for my shoot, so there was nothing I could do at that point. This guy's time was up too. (gotta go!) It tried to blot make-up off my face, but it was so caked on, nothing worked. Soo... my headshots were a disaster. Wasted $400 for photographer and now need to spend another $400 to re-do. Glamsquad DID refund my money - which was the proper thing to do - but I was so disappointed with the services. Again, I thought these people were professionals. I thought they'd make me look and feel fab for the photo shoot. Wrong! Next time I'm doing my own hair and make-up. You have NO idea who's showing up for your appt or what they can do. Had a great first experience with Glamsquad! Was a little nervous after reading some reviews, but I am so happy I went with them on New Year's Eve. I live in Hoboken NJ and had a 3PM blowout appointment with Chrystele. She arrived on time (actually a few minutes early, which I appreciated) and was super friendly. She set up her stuff and got started quickly. It was one of the best blowouts I ever had! And that's saying something, especially since I washed my own hair and used my (basic) shampoo & conditioner. I was so happy with the result, and Chrystele asked me multiple times if I was happy and if I wanted to change anything. She was a perfectionist and truly wanted me to be happy (and not just say I was to be polite). The hairstylist stole an expensive Mason Pearson hairbrush ($200!) from my apartment and it took me days of stressful back and forth phone calls with customer service to finally get her to return it. She dropped if off at the wrong address, at the dusty mailboxes, and didn't even bother to put it in a plastic bag or anything to protect it from all the dust! I'm still waiting to hear from leadership and emailed customer service again yesterday to reconfirm that I'd like to speak to someone from leadership, and they've gone radio silent. The whole concept of beauty services that come to my apartment is innovative (I'm a fan if in-office ManiCube), so I'm not surprised that Glam Squad hopped on this trend, offering hair and makeup services in addition to nails. I booked a gel mani service through the application, just for comparison purposes since I have my nails done every 2 weeks precisely, typically at local salons near home or work. The nail tech arrived on time (Saturday morning around 11AM), which I appreciated. Her technique was average...not sloppy but certainly not meticulous. Perhaps it was the poor quality of the UV machine, or unauthentic Essie polish in the shade I chose, but the "gel" manicure lasted about 1.5 days before it started chipping and peeling. I was in disbelief. Usually my gels last two weeks. The total price of the service including tip was about $75. This is double what I usually pay - I understand paying for the convenience factor, and it would have been worth it had it been of decent quality. I almost contacted the company for my money back. I will never use this company again for nails, and have since removed the GlamSquad app from my phone. read more

He refused to put lipstick on my mom and instead told her to "walk to Walgreens and buy one." I used to love this and used them for years probably over 100 times. They charged me full fee when I booked accidentally and cancelled right away. They even still sent the poor stylist later that night - a crappy way to treat their people. They lost me for life. I think the company was sold and now the customer service is literally F off level. Originally I reached out to the wedding team at Glam Squad to get hair and makeup for my wedding with trials. I did this based on their pricing for appointments in the app. But (as I've learned during the wedding planning process) the word wedding means more money. It was about 600$ for the trial and day of. I definitely didn't budget that much for my low key wedding, so I shopped around. I had another talented artist do my makeup and trial but with time running out I decided to just go ahead and book an appointment the day of my wedding through the app, for an updo. Sure the stylist was a little surprised to be doing the bride's hair, never having met me or discussed/planned a look with me. But I'm low maintenance and had faith in her. She did an amazing job. The whole night people kept saying how amazing my hair looked, asking me where I went etc. She secured a clip thing in my hair that stayed in the whole night. And the updo didn't start to sag until the party got rowdy and we were jumping and dancing like crazy people. For the after party I took my hair down and it looked SO GOOD too! I use Glamsquad at least 6 times a year for formal events and occasionally for nails (I'm based in NYC). Overall, my stylists have been good and know what they're doing (hair stylists need at least 8 years after certification to work with the service). I will say that many times, especially my appointments in the last few months, my stylists have been late (around 30 minutes), which is tricky because I usually schedule perfectly for when I have to leave. I think this is on the service though and not the stylists because they schedule them back to back and don't account well for subway delays, etc., which add up over a day and can bump an evening appointment way back. I would recommend scheduling your stylist on the earlier side of your preparations to be safe - I've never had someone completely cancel and not be replaced by a different stylist! read more

They were rude, unprofessional, and when I asked for false lashes I was told she didn't have them and I would "look like a stripper anyway." I was mortified. I recently planned a 90th birthday party for my mother-in-law. A week before the party, she fell on the sidewalk in NYC. She was fine...didn't break anything. However, she had extensive bruising on her face, and she was very upset about this because our doctor said it would take 1 - 2 months for the bruising to go away. I called Glam Squad and shared this story. I also told them that my mother-in-law didn't want a lot of makeup on her eyes and that she wasn't convinced that they'd be able to help her. The makeup artist who did her makeup was amazing. My MIL was transformed and felt really good going into the party. She looks perfectly normal in all the photos. I cannot recommend Glam Squad more highly. They literally saved the day for us!!! read more

It's so convenient! In the middle of the night you decide to be blamed up 6am in the morning, you have the option! Some times the service isn't the best but I do support them a lot because I love to have the option to tap on my screen without having conversations or going on voicemail and book my appointment. I used this service last week when my girlfriend was in town. We got the blow dry for two with a promo I received. I thought it would be a nice change to stay comfy in our clothes and get our hair done in my apt. Our stylist arrived prompt on time and was amazing! She did both our hairs in under two hours. I have it of hair and she managed to blow dry my hair in under an hair. I opted for the romantic look and my hair came out amazing! My blow dry lasted a good three days without having to redo it. I was so happy. My girlfriend opted for a more of a curl look with the hot iron. Her hair came out amazing as well. At first I thought this service was too expensive when you can find a groupon for a local salon for 24-40 bucks for a good blow out/style. However, it's definitely worth the money. The fact I can be in my pjs and not have to leave my house to get ready is amazing. No fuss or waiting in a salon. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because you have to wash your own hair. I get why they can't do it for you because it's unpredictable what type of sink or set up you have in your apt. My suggestion is to have them send you some product shampoo before they come so you have a good wash. read more

I have loved my hair both times (from Marisha and Jonathan), and I must say my hair is on the difficult side. Last time, Jonathan got held up due to a bridal appointment, and Glam squad (Camilla) was in touch with his ETA so I wouldn't have to wonder. The stylists really want you to leave happy, and even though Jonathan was late and his schedule was likely thrown off for his upcoming appointments, he didn't rush me and made sure everything was perfect. I had the pleasure of using Glam Squad's blow-out services this morning and cannot say better things about the company. Let's be real: Nothing sounds better than sitting in your jammies, watching Netflix (or doing work, in my case) on your computer and having your very own glam team at your disposal, and that's exactly what Glam Squad is. It's only $50 more than Dry Bar (and you have to wash your own hair...gasp!), but the woman who assisted me this morning was friendly and professional. She was also prompt, which is refreshing compared to my usual 15+ minute wait for a Dry Bar appointment I made a reservation for, and I liked my hair better than most of the Dry Bar experiences I've had. Plus, you can have someone come to your house as early or late as you need (within reason). Will definitely be using this service again! read more

For DC service: I scheduled a 6:30 am make up service the day before for something at 8 am. Not only did no one show up but when I called customer service at 7 am (when they open) they said "I'm sorry-that's why 6:30 is a tough slot." Something that is really ridiculous is that the stylist doesn't get your phone number and you don't have theirs- you have no idea where they are, if they're running late or lost, or if they just forgot.
