I've been coming to the Glass Lounge for close to 20 years, and I have never had a bad meal. This was my first visit since the ownership change, and I'm happy to report it's still just as good. I'm also extremely predictable here because I know what I love. I usually get the tenderloin/filet, add either a crab cake or scallops, and I HAVE to get the sautéed mushrooms. This time was the tenderloin with a crab cake, and both were fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly, and their crab cakes are almost entirely crab with very little filler. The mushrooms are so good I could honestly eat a plate of them by themselves. And then there's the salad. If you know, you know the Glass Lounge does not play around with the carrots. I personally LOVE them, but whenever I bring someone new, I warn them that if they aren't a big carrot person, ask for light carrots! We finished with the peanut butter pie, which is also delicious. Dinner for two, including a beer and cocktail, was about $137 before tip. Prices seem a little higher than I remember, but honestly, what isn't more expensive these days? The Glass Lounge isn't fancy and that's part of why I love it. It's small, has a huge bar, and has that old school neighborhood/dive-bar feel while serving genuinely excellent steaks and seafood. There's a reason people several towns away know about this place and recommend it. Still a 10/10 after all these years. I'll keep coming back, and I'll keep bringing people with me. If you're going on a weekend, though, make a reservation. This place gets BUSY. read more

I found myself back at the Glass Lounge recently, and while this technically wasn't my first visit, it was my first time there in a long while. I vividly remember going here as a kid for "special occasion" dinners--birthdays, anniversaries, moments when sweatpants were absolutely not acceptable. Fast forward to adulthood, and this visit was brought to you by rain, traffic, and hunger-induced decision making. To set the scene: Glass Lounge was not the plan. The plan was dinner at the Farm Show. Unfortunately, so was everyone else's plan. After sitting in traffic for nearly an hour without moving--and watching my hunger escalate to a dangerous level--I declared, "I'm starving," which immediately forced a pivot to Plan B...which we did not have. I quickly brainstormed something close enough to escape starvation but far enough from Farm Show chaos to actually get fed. Enter: the Glass Lounge, swooping in like a hangry hero. We arrived around 4pm on a rainy January Saturday and walked into a bar area that was absolutely packed. My concern level rose slightly when the hostess asked if we had reservations, but I quickly noticed the dining room was only about half full. Crisis averted. We were seated at a booth tucked nicely out of the way, which is exactly where I like to eat when I'm one inconvenience away from becoming unpleasant. Adventure Buddy ordered his usual Old Fashioned, and I wisely chose a Diet Coke, knowing full well that alcohol + extreme hunger = either immediate regret or an accidental nap. We skipped appetizers because this was not a "let's casually snack" situation--this was a feed us immediately situation. I ordered the Tuna Salad Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries ($9), and Adventure Buddy went all-in with a filet mignon and shrimp, plus applesauce and coleslaw ($50). Despite the dining room filling up fast, our food came out surprisingly quickly, and we dug in like we hadn't eaten in days. I'm pretty picky about tuna salad, so this was a bit of a gamble--but WOW, the Glass Lounge nailed it. The tuna salad was perfectly balanced: not watery, not dry, generously portioned, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better tuna salad sandwiches I've had locally. And the sweet potato fries? Outstanding. Crispy, fry-like perfection--not those limp, sad sweet potato imposters you so often get elsewhere. Get them. Do not question it. Adventure Buddy gave rave reviews for his steak, which was cooked exactly to the medium-rare he requested, and the shrimp vanished almost instantly. The coleslaw was creamy without being soupy (a true win), and the applesauce deserves its own moment. Restaurant applesauce is usually pulverized into oblivion for denture-less seniors or children who can't be trusted with texture. Not here. The Glass Lounge boldly serves chunky applesauce, lightly cinnamon-spiced and delightful. I respect the confidence. I absolutely could not leave without dessert and ordered a slice of their homemade peanut butter pie--a decision I will never regret. It was piled high with rich peanut butter filling and whipped cream and immediately became the star of my evening. Adventure Buddy moved far too slowly and only managed a bite or two before I demolished it... and seriously considered ordering a second slice. For around $100, we ended up with a fantastic, totally unplanned early-bird-style dinner. The service was excellent--quick, friendly, and attentive--and by the time we waddled out, the dining room was nearly full. When our original plans completely failed us, the Glass Lounge stepped up and saved the evening...and probably several people within a 5-mile radius from my hangry mood. One final pro tip: don't panic if the front lot is full--there's plenty of parking behind the building. Glass Lounge may not have been the plan, but it turned out to be exactly what we needed! read more

Another fantastic visit. Seated outside on the deck, view of the river, at sunset, warm summer evening. Had the sirloin. Huge salad, baked potato , steak, Martini. Delicious food, attentive service. Lots of leftovers, which they even boxed up for me. Food came out efficiently, and server stopped back regularly. That's all people ask for, great tasting food, kind attentive servers, reasonable prices. A winning formula, which is why this place is packed. But that doesn't stress the servers, they are pros. I guess the only downside, the loud chatter from nearby people. More of the same, people bragging about their travel, their beautiful kids, name dropping, and their future vacation plans. I guess some people are hollow inside, and just need other people to overhear this stuff. Sad. But I didn't let it ruin my meal. Just reminded me of how fearful some people are on the inside. It was balanced with how kind and prompt the servers were. I'd take this place over places in Spain, Italy, Greece, Scotland, or many countries I have recently visited. Some of the steak portions are huge! I didn't want a 20+ oz steak, so went for the 6 oz tenderloin. It was great - tender and cooked perfectly. I tried my friend's super sirloin and it was also good, but not as good as the tenderloin. I wish there was a sauce to go with my steak, but it was still tasty with the mushrooms. Be warned that the steak mushrooms are an additional $3. They asked if I wanted mushrooms with my steak, but since it wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu, I thought it was included. You can choose 2 sides, which do come with the steak. The fries were basic, with some pieces either soggy or undercooked. The broccoli was a tad overcooked and mushy. I did love the complimentary dinner roll and butter that was brought out right after we ordered. It was warm, soft and delicious. The service was really friendly and I loved the laidback, cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. I'm not sure if I would come back, but I greatly enjoyed my time here! read more

You really can't go wrong here food wise. The atmosphere I isn't pretty, but that's not the point. The food is always reliably good with generous portions. We visited the Glass Lounge for the first time in many many years (I believe they still had a smoking and non-smoking section).  Besides being non-smoking, not much else has changed. It is definitely an "old school" type of steakhouse.  Service was friendly, but not that attentive.  The food was ok, but not very memorable. I know we started with an appetizer and drinks. The Old Fashioned was good. I ordered the Delmonico for my meal. The cut was a good sized portion and it was cooked to temperature, but it was underwhelming in flavor for the price.  Overall an Ok visit. read more

This location has always been a special treat. We rarely get up that lash of the multi-tentacled highway system radiating from Harrisburg, but it is worth taking friends and clients from out of town. It has a local feel with comfortable seating, but quality cuisine for all tastes. Despite always being busy, I've always gotten a table with only a short wait. The menu is extensive but there it is one of the few places I've taken clients where there is always something they want to try. I don't have photos but I would say the ones offered from other Yelpers are representative of the home-cooked quality offered by their kitchen. I love an old timey vibe and this place has it. Not only is the vibe friendly and comfortable, the food is fresh, simple but very well done. The tenderloin could be cut with just a fork with mushrooms that are so flavorful. The house salad is fresh and crisp and love the carrots! Four stars is a lot from me but this place merits it. We wnt on a Thursday night and the place was packed. We still gotour reserved table right away. I had an article I'd been carrying around from the Burg magazine (recommended reading) which had a picture of the Delmonico steak offered, so I had it. Big enough for two, and perfectly prepared. The salad, a "side" was big enough to be a main course. The potato spears were unlike any I'd had before (twice cooked?) and were excellent. Our server, Reilly, managed to be attentive even in the hustle and bustle - my water glass was refilled twice. I ended up doggie-bagging enough steak and potatos for another meal. Great service by Reilly So friendly and efficient. The place was packed on this particular Saturday evening - however, we did not have to wait long for anything - drinks, apps, meals - and all the checking in for our needs in between - always with a smile. She knew the food - quickly responded to questions and offered suggestions - which were point on. We witnessed the same efficiency with her other customers - she did not disappear - she was constantly gliding through and checking in with everyone. In addition, shout out to the other dining room staff who also moved very quickly to clear plates between courses, to clear recently vacated tables. spent $45.00 for a Delmonico steak...horrible with no sear and too much fat and gristle. Spent $40.00 for sea scallops... horrible with no sear and grossly over cooked and tough. Quality of a steak is far More important than the size and a professional cooking seals the deal; epic failure here. We ordered the Delmonico steak medium rare and a burger cooked medium. The steak was juicy, delicious, and very satisfying. The burger was just as juicy and flavorful-10/10. Bartender Brad made an excellent dirty martini and a great Jack and Coke. The owner even stopped by our table and was kind and gracious during our dining experience. I came here for a steak dinner experience since they "specialize" in steak. The service was absolutely stellar. The appetizers were pretty mid, but the price/portion made it to where I didn't feel cheated. The steak. Well, it was pretty gross. If you know the difference of vacuum sealed "USDA select" steak and a fresh cut "USDA prime" steak...don't come here. The meat tasted like the kind my grandma used to cook for me because she was on food stamps and bought almost expired steak at a corner store in Spanish Harlem NYC. Aside from that, it was SUPER salty. It came on a cast iron sizzle platter and it was a huge cut. Again, given the price for the Delmonico steak dinner I paid, I didn't feel bad putting it into a to-go box and feeding it to my savage teenagers. Price for quantity is what you will find here, not definitely not quality. I did like how they poured the steak and juices into a food bag, tied it up then gave you a container to take it home. Again, the service here was exceptional. The ambience was dim, and cozy but a little too loud and rustic for my liking to be considered a great place for a date. Though, if you are new to the "dining out scene" and fresh out of college, or just got your first "decent paying job" this is the place to go... If you are well traveled, been to real steak houses, or Michelin star restaurants, I'd say skip this one. You would be better off going to Texas road house which there, I feel they execute the steak storage and prep better then Glass Lounge. read more

The hot roast beef sandwich, roast beef and gravy perfectly seasoned not salty. The salad was out of this world.Heaped with shredded carrots to the top., And full of vegetables was excellent. Wow! We were driving home from a weekend of rail trailing and had a taste for lump crabmeat cakes. Search led us here and we will be back. Simple bar and dining room with outdoor space during warmer weather (not in our case). Ample parking in the back. We were here around 3 pm on a Saturday in October and had stellar service, excellent crabcakes, huge salads, and tasty sides. We will be back to try the steaks and reprise our crabcakes. read more

My favorite place for steak. I had the 8 oz tenderloin cooked perfectly medium, and my friend the 24 oz sirloin, it was his birthday, and fed him for 2 more meals at home. I think a knob of butter on the steak would help with the flavor. Love the French fries but preferred them when they were little chunkier and not as thin. The salad is good, I pass on the carrots. I would not order the breaded calamari again as an appetizer. Service as always, excellent. read more

Accepted 3mos ago a gift card and they accepted it for the food we got but there was money on the card like$ 40.00 that I wanted to use. Our experience here was very disappointing. Everything was bland and had no seasons. We had the steak, fries, and baked potato and literally nothing was cooked with any seasoning. Was my first time having a steak without salt or pepper. Wouldn't recommend. Service was slow and she had an attitude. She wouldn't look at us while we ordered and seemed annoyed when we asked her opinion on the ribs. She honestly seemed annoyed that we were there to begin with. read more

I've always loved the Glass Lounge and we have enjoyed meals there for many years. I was concerned when the restaurant was sold that there would be issues with service and food quality, and I was very happy when I went last night to see that nothing has changed. We had reservations (which I highly recommend) so we were seated almost immediately. The staff was friendly and welcoming as always, and the food was wonderful. We never felt rushed even as the restaurant filled with diners. My only comment is that I was charged $3.00 for my iced tea and an additional $3.00 for each refill; the same for my daughter's soda. It's possible that it has always this way and I never paid attention, but I think that's a bit of overkill. Maybe charging for refills after the first one might be more prudent? read more
