We have eaten here 3 times. I really appreciate what this chef is doing . I will start by saying we love the atmosphere, you can have a conversation and you can be dressed up or in jeans. I really appreciate the use of local products. This is not another restaurant thats about large portions and pushing people thru ( Although we did take home goodie bags). All 3 times the service was great. I am a big fan in the monthly specials. You can get a appetizer, entree, and sorbet for $20. I personally think that the food is a great price. I think it would be 30% more in the city. I just hope it does not get too popular. read more

i was there last night for a casino night in the banquet room, and it was really nice. the hotel has been remodeled completely and looks great, you'll forget you're in lombard actually. the appetizers that were served were pretty unremarkable, and the couple times i had to pop into the glen prairie bar for an appropriate drink garnish, the service was a bit testy. that said, it was still a good experience, i would go back. read more

I've been here for dinner and Sunday brunch. Dinner was fantastic -- excellent quality & delicious food in a modern yet comfortable environment! Sunday bruch, however, left a lot to be desired. Lackluster menu and mediocre service (even though we were the only ones in the entire restaurant). They need to work on that, but I would still highly recommend it for lunch or dinner! We saw this restaurant featured on "Chicago's Best". We were not disappointed. Their Mac & Cheese is wonderful. Hubby had the Flat Iron Steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the atmosphere, too. It's sort of Classy Casual. The prices were a little steep, but, not so much that we wouldn't go back. The service was very friendly. Oh, those mini desserts are perfect! We were originally drawn to it for its environmentally friendly practices, sustainable menu choices, and rave reviews from our friends. Located in a hotel in a nondescript location in the Western Burbs one would never expect there to be a progressive restaurant there. My wife and I have dined at Glen Prairie a couple of times and will continue to do so. The service is somewhat inconsistent but quite friendly and we've always gotten our booze order in a timely manner and our menu selections are always good and at proper temperature. read more

This has become my favorite restaurant in the Western Suburbs. The food is fresh and local when possible and the chef continues to introduce items that are consistently great. The service is attentive and friendly. The servers are always willing to tell you how the food is prepared and have at times offered samples of something that the chef was considering to see what we thought. More restaurants should be run this way! read more

Glen Prairie has become our favorite restaurant for American cuisine, which helps because it's close to home in Chicago's western suburbs. We tend to prefer and stick with ethnic cuisine, so eating American in a hotel is quite a stretch. Making the adjustment in this case has been exceedingly easy and we keep finding occasions to make our way back. The chef uses local and organic produce, serves up a great variety of dishes, and keeps the menu fresh. The staff are knowledgeable but don't overwhelm or overstay their regular stops. And every meal we've had includes at least a side of their delicious macaroni & cheese. On a recent visit, Chicken Giambotta was a hit, while the Bananas Foster for dessert was a great finish. read more

1 star for last visit 1/21/18. This was the 4 visit to Glen Prairie. Previous visits I'd give 4 stars. Pros : Hostess was extremely friendly and gave us the table we requested (table 20) The restaurant is very inviting. Ok the problems happened when our waitress decided to come take our drink order. She also made an odd comment about speaking louder to "old people". My parents anr both in their 70s. The comment was on and on. Awkward. Took a good 20min to get our wine we ordered. And even longer for our food order. Food- Wedge salad was really good. Enough for 2 people to share. onion Soup - nothing special. Amish Chicken was very small portion. Green beans were so over peppered we sent them back. Fresh ones never arrived. The meal should've been comped. On the Specials was the Amish Stuffed chicken. nothing special about it. It was equivalent to poor wedding meal. Dry chicken. There was supposed to be some sort of cheese. Both lacked any. Dry mashed potatoes and bland bruschetta. Needed some type of gravy for the meal. My Father ordered a burger that he said was good. A bit over cooked. Overall I feel our server didn't pace the dinner well. And also didn't come back to ask us if everything was ok. I would've sent the stuffed chicken back. We will give Glen Prairie one more try. read more

A great Bison steak and some other items you wouldn't normally find on a menu around here. Despite the fact that this is attached to the Crowne Plaza it's definitely better than most hotel restaurants. A specialized organic wine list is the first I've seen of it's kind. Conveniently located just a country block east of I-355 on Roosevelt, this restaurant is attached to the Crowne Plaza hotel. It has the atmosphere of a hotel restaurant, which is mediocre at best. But the food was excellent. The wine list was broad enough to satify our simple tastes. It was hard to avoid appetizers, but the heirloom beet salad with goat cheese was spectacular. They provided two breads-- a grainy organic brown and a French, the latter being exceptional. I had a perfect center cut pork chop with wild mushroom risotto and found them to be delicious and ample without being too large. Finally, the mini desserts are such a great idea...a little sweet without committing to 700 calories. Service was good- waitress was attentive without being too chatty or overbearing and the general manager came out for a nice greet. The place was busy as it was a Saturday night in prime time. All in all, i would go back. Two salads, two entrees, four wines by the glass, one mini dessert ran $125 with tip. If you want to have a more intimate dining experience, probably mid-week is better. read more

I would give it a ONE but the hummus was great and so were the pita chips. Looks like many agree the service SUCKED! And I will agree. Our waitress only brought out our drinks and appetizer and basicly was hiding in the back for the next 30 minutes. We ordered simple sandwiches during lunch and they never came out. Finally we said something and the busboy apologized and said we are jsut not putting them together and we had to go back to work. We were there for 1.5 hours and only got drinks and appetizer. We left hungry because we asked them to wrap our sandwiches to go. This was unacceptable service. And it was just us and a group of 3 females dining. There wasn't anyone there how could service be soooo bad. Please retrain the staff and hire better attentive workers. This was horrible and I would never reccommend this place. read more

This is a great place to eat. Their dinner prices are little much for us to eat at frequently but the lunch prices are very reasonable with the amount of food they give you. They have great burgers, great breakfast items, and yummy desserts (they also have mini desserts). The service is great, I think they be understaffed at the lunch and breakfast time but the waiter if very good as well as the bus boy. The decor is great and the atmosphere if very comfortable. We will be eating here again, and more often. read more

Is exactly what they advertise...fresh locally grown and organic when possible..and delectable! Start with the flat breads and i have never gone wrong w the specials of the day. Made a reservation with a group the other night and had to wait still. It wasn't very crowded so I was a bit confused as to the wait. The food was good and the service was suitable. I wish the menu had more Paleolithic options since I'm trying that lifestyle out for a bit. I had the duck tacos which were delicious, could have used some more spice. Totally enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. The staff, especially our waiter Colin, was very attentive. Although the dining room was not crowded (Monday early, Bears game), we were happy to be seated at a nice interval from other patrons. The mushroom appetizer - to die for!! Mac and cheese as a side was the best we have had. Entrees were ample and we split the bison ribeye which was more than enough for two.Loved the salmon entree and the BBQ chicken was good. Desserts were delicious and enjoyed the $2 mini, so we could sample more of them. We were happy to pay the $10 corkage fee to enjoy our own wine. If any negative, we felt the wine list was a little weak. Liked to see the suggested pairings of beer with burgers. Our experience was very pleasant and will return with more of our friends. It was a classy environment, and luckily it was inexpensive for a sandwhich and/or salad, which is what we got. We were really upset with the whole experience. I went to make a reservation online for 7:00 on a Friday night and they were booked. So I made one for 7:15 which was open. When we arrived early at 7:00 they had plenty of tables that no one was sitting at and they were open and set already. I said we arrived a bit early because we're on a time crunch and the hostess said "ok, I see you here for your 7:15 reservation, please have a seat." We sat there looking at the tables with no one using them and people were even coming in off the street and being seated while we were waiting there. Then (at 7:15) the hostess comes by and says "ok, you're table is ready for you" and proceeded to seat us at the seat only 10 feet from where we were waiting that had been set and empty the entire time since we arrived. Completely soured me on the entire thing and we decided once we sat down we were just ordering cheap meals and had water to drink so we could leave asap. I wanted to say something to the hostess but thought I'll just leave an honest review online instead. Oh, and my sandwhich and french fries were so salty I was thirsting for water the entire rest of the night. Had leftovers and ate it the next day for dinner...again so thirsty. read more

Was there on a Sunday night, a party of 9 which included a 7 year old. The food, for the most part, seemed to please everyone, but mine was HORRIBLE! I ordered the duck with white bean cassoulet. The duck was so over done it was dry. Imagine! Dry duck! It wouldn't have been so bad, i would have been happy to order something else, but the waitress never bothered to ask how things were on our side of the table. I heard later from my relatives on the other end she asked them how things were but never us on our end. None of us heard her. She walked by several times and looked at my nearly untouched plate and I tried to get her attention, but she never stopped or even asked. It wasn't until she was clearing plates that my husband asked her to remove it from the bill. She was very argumentative with him and said that she had ASKED but we never said anything. My mother in law stepped in and said she never asked us... If it weren't for the bad service by an inept waitress (the restaurant wasn't that busy) I might have rated it better despite the overcooked duck. Even my Brother in law, who is a chef, agreed it was way overdone. Because of this experience, I won't go back. Mistakes get made....but it's how you handle them that makes the difference. In this instance, the waitress caused a loss of a customer by her indifference to a problem Call me crazy, but if you walk by a table FIVE times and look at someone's plate, untouched, you STOP and ask...don't just ignore the customer as she's trying to get your attention. read more

This place is great. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable. Moderately priced, high quality food. Cocktails are a bit pricey but they are top notch. Complementary bread and butter is better than most places, somewhat of a sweeter butter but the combo is delicious. Had the Cuban which was as good as it gets. Loved pulled/shredded pork in lieu of the typical fatty slices of pork. The fries on the side were also delicious. My wife had the Mac n cheese which was phenomenal, definitely in the top 5 I have had. Portions are generous, we each brought at least half of the meal home. Overall, I would do 4.5 but it wouldn't let me. I may bump this to a 5 if the experience is just as good next time we visit. read more

Elegant, tasteful, classy, clean, great service... if you have not been, you need to go. Fine dining with an authentic flare. I would not however recommend the ratatouille. The squash zucchini and tomatoes in the dish are sliced very thin which when cooked made them fall apart mushy and the sauce tasted a bit similar to canned spaghetti-o's. Not good. Oh and pre-meal bread is break your teeth hard. Just be careful. Chairs are cushy soft. It does get a bit loud in there for some reason but we enjoy ourselves regardless. read more

This really is a gem that people wouldn't think about as it is in a hotel. However we've been there three times for dinner and found it an excellent foodie restaurant. Creative menu, Gluten free friendly, generous portions, individually prepared dishes, local sourced when possible. Salmon was maple syrup glazed. Something a little different and sweet. Eggplant rollups (like eggplant parm) were to die for. At recommendation tried the Mac and cheese as a side, wow! Braised short ribs were excellent. Not a dash and dine operation. We took a very dietary restricted friend there and they had plenty to work with to choose from menu. Read the comment about service, not an issue when we were there at all on a Saturday night. Todd was friendly and attentive. Defiantly going back. We didn't try the desserts as we were very full. However, all items looked like fun. Might just go for dessert, no meal, sometime. read more

I used to love this place. Service is always excellent and I definitely appreciate the local, fresh and organic menu. Quality of food has continued to go down over the last year. I come in monthly with my wife but don't think I'll be coming back. The manager and the staff are always excellent but the food has become boring and flavorless. I think maybe there is a new chef or something which is a shame. My burger and steaks have been overcooked the last few times I came in. The staff is always apologetic and get it fixed right away but that doesn't make up for mediocre at best food. read more

We brought a large party on a Saturday night, and service was smooth, accurate and fast. The food was all great. The server even split checks and matched people in checks who were not even sitting close to each other. Really handled the large group well. My husband and I returned a week later to try other things on the menu. Our favorite is the chocolate chip brownie for dessert! We will be back! read more

First time dining and will definitely be back. Excellent service!! Doesn't feel like a "hotel restaurant". Most menu items can be prepared gluten free. Brussel sprout appetizer was delicious but a bit disappointing-mostly artichoke hearts and garlic with few pieces of brussel sprout. Tomato and French onion soups were awesome. Mac and cheese with pork bbq was amazing - GF, light sauce and GF pasta made this not as heavy as you would expect, and very enjoyable. came here for christmas dinner tonight with family. we had a reservation at 5pm for a party of 6. we thought that we needed to head out early just in case of traffic due to weather but ended up arriving 30 minutes early. it was alright with the staff and they sat us anyway. i'm not sure when this restaurant actually opened, but it's fairly new. it's contemporary american focusing on midwestern food using local and sustainable ingredients as much as possible: the main reason i wanted to try out this restaurant despite the fact that it didn't have a single yelp review.... quite surprising really.... there weren't any diners yet when we got there so i wasn't sure if they had opened yet for dinner, but they said they were open so that was nice. our server was really friendly and attentive (even as she got more busy when more diners arrived towards the middle of our meal and end). we never felt rushed and she was happy to accommodate, took constructive criticism well and gave good recommendations. checked back on us regularly but not so much so that it got annoying. some of the party ordered the french onion soup and everyone thought it was a bit too salty and when we told her she thanked us and said she'd let the kitchen know. i had the hierloom beet salad to start and the pike with mac & cheese for my main. both tasty and flavorful, but nothing overpowering. the portions were good too.... not excessive though filling. i also tasted the bison which was super tender and flavorful as well as the rack of lamb, also good. from the desserts i sampled some apple streusel, chocolate soufle, cappuccino gelato, and creme brulee. on some of their desserts you can choose a mini version so you can have a little taste but not over stuff yourself. a nice touch. their wine list is very good with a great selection of domestic wines including organic/eco-friendly choices (mostly whites it seemed in that category)... there were also special holiday cocktails too that looked pretty tasty, but i wasn't able to try any of them out. their regular cocktail menu looked good as well. i only had some franciscan merlot which is not at all something i'd chose for a fish dish, but surprisingly still went pretty well despite being quite a bold flavor... so when the bill came, to our surprise, our server had actually taken off the 3 onion soups from our tab. totally not expected, but very much appreciated. :) when i come back to visit chicagoland, this is a restaurant i want to try again. read more

I saw Glen Prairie on Chicago's. BEST! For the cheesiest Mac n chz topped with BBQ pulled pork. It was absolutely as good as it looked on TV. From the bartender, service, and ambience the entire place was warm and exceptional. Great wine selects, I had a wonderful Blueberry martini that was suggested and made fresh with perfect amount of flavor and a Petite Sirah. Standouts on the menu besides Mac n cheese are the expresso rubbed pork tenderloin and scallop dish looked amazing. Its a great friendly place cant wait to have that pulled pork again. read more

Something is going on over at Glen Prairie not sure if its new management or new wait staff but something is up.. I have been going to GP since it opened and even though the prices were a bit on the higher side the quality of the food and service was worth every penny! This year we decided to have our office xmas lunch at GP again since last years was so nice. We had a group of 4 and we were seated immediately when we arrived. There was only two other small tables of people so it was very slow. We all wanted to order wine but there was not a drink menu anywhere to be found. It took our waitress forever to arrive and when she did she asked us what we would like to drink in a very rude tone. I let her know that I would like a white wine but we didn't have a drink menu so I wasn't sure if they had a house wine or other options. She said she would be right back. 5 or so minutes go by and she brings me a glass of white wine and a menu for the rest of the table. It would have been really nice to actually look at the menu and be able to choose my glass of wine but I guess the waitress thought it was okay to choose for me... whatever.. My co-workers order their wine and waited way to long for it to arrive. When she finally does come back with it she all of a sudden has this weird condescending attitude towards us all. Like seriously for the rest of our lunch I thought I was at Ed Debevicks getting ripped on. It was so odd! We then place our lunch orders myself and one of my co-workers ordered the Pike which comes with mac and cheese. The other two ordered salads and we also tried the shrimp and grits for an appetizer. The shrimp and girts were okay .. I dont think I would get them again. Our entree's come and I notice my co-worker has two nice filets of pike and I have one tiny fillet that literally was smaller then the size of my palm. I just spent $26 to have basically a taste of fish and a nice little bowl of mac and cheese. SO disappointing! There is no reason why two of the same dishes should come out with two entirely different portions of fish. The mac and cheese was amazing! thank god for that otherwise I would have been starving! I had to eat sloooowwww since I had nothing really on my plate. The Ed Debevicks waitress makes an appearance and just walks up and takes my plate doesnt ask if im done just grabs it and runs off. So now I get screwed on the fish and the waitress takes off with my mac and cheese.. not cool! We all then decide to have dessert my co-worker wanted chocolate and was asking the waitress questions and you could tell she could care less and didn't want to be there or help us. She suggested the gelato and when my 76 year old co-worker asked her what gelato was she said" its like ice cream would you like it or not?" At this point we were all kind of like this is weird let's just order and get out of here.. again while enjoying my wine and dessert she comes back and just takes my crème Brule and runs off.. I WAS NOT DONE! Shes lucky I was with my boss ! It gets better my mom and her husband went to GP for xmas dinner and their waiter who also was horrible didnt return to the table after he took the order never checked to see how the meal was but you better believe he returned with the check... oh and made sure to apply his own gratuity to the bill. He applied 25% gratuity to a bill for 2 adults and a child. Thankfully my mom noticed and brought it up to the manager. How can you charge a party of 3 25% automatic gratuity and not even give good service on top of it. Since it was the holidays they planned on leaving a nice tip but trying to scam someone is SO wrong. The manager made it right and removed the gratuity but this shouldn't happen! My mom told me the waiter was giving them dirty looks and just threw the updated check on the table. Not cool GP I hope you get your act together soon otherwise you will be losing a customer who has been coming to your restaurant since you opened your doors! read more
