Went to a Meetup here this past Saturday. Had a lot of fun, the service is great and song selection is thicker than the dictionary. The waitress was really pretty and nicely dressed (little to club scene like) but she came by too often to ask if everything was ok. In a way it's better that she did so we know she acknowledged our existence but one too many times can be annoying and seem to tip-thirsty. The wait for my friends and my song was much too long that I had to finally ditch this place after waiting two whole hours just to sing. I believe Genji does a better job at managing and rotating karaoke turns, therefore the owner takes over that task and never let's a substitute do it. The DJ or song manager should be doing a better job of letting EVERYONE participate and keep repeat singers to a minimum to allow for more fun and participation. read more

This place sucks - don't go there. I was at Glitter for 3.5 hours and was called up to sing once. Meanwhile, several singers who arrived hours after me sang twice before I left. My waitress forgot about my order, and I got my second beer about 40 minutes after I ordered it. If the KJ knows you, you probably won't have this problem, but as a newcomer I was very disappointed. I recommend sticking to karaoke at PJ's on Wednesdays and Friday, where the sound, people, and service is MUCH better. read more

I've been to Glitter several times now and while it isn't a Gay bar, it's probably the Gay Friendliest bar in Midtown. I can put my arm around my boyfriend and nobody cares. Drinks are strong and fairly priced. You get service with a smile and although I don't sing well I do enjoy getting up there and trying. No matter how bad I may sound up there on stage, I always receive a round of applause (my ego thanks you). There are some fierce singers here and bad ones like me but everyone has a great time. read more

The customer service here is non-existent. No consistency on when karaoke starts and no sense of customer service in explaining their 'system'. I've only been once with a large party...all expecting...karaoke, only be told several different start times by the wait staff and manager/owner. Completely a turn off. Waited two hours for a friend to sing who discovered his ticket had been "lost." Instead of correcting the situation, the shyster behind the podium running the show told my friend for $25 he would play his song next. Get this: He paid the guy and his song wasn't next. When my friend went back to the podium he was told he would have to pay $100. Don't go here. read more

Words cannot describe how unbelievably horrible this experience was. Our waitress took our cash, did not apply it to the bill and then left before we could get it fixed. She had us kicked out because we asked a question about our bill. The a**hole bouncer who made us leave got in our faces, called us names and wouldn't tell us why we were being kicked out. They wouldn't let my friend get her credit card back and tried to kick us off the curb while waiting for a cab. Most of our party was girls and we weren't even being rude. This bouncer apparently gets off on treating girls 1/3 his size like he's going to kick their asses. We ended up paying over $200 for $30 worth of drinks and to get assaulted. I don't know how people can treat their customers this way. I seriously suggest taking your money elsewhere. read more

Our party was over charged, and the waitress convienently dissapeared after she dropped the bill. The bouncer came in, demanded our card, and kicked us out before we got our card back. After the dust settled, we realized that the cash our party threw in- was not counted towards the check, but likely pocketed by the staff. All that, and a 30 gratuity was thrown on top of it! Fun crowd, great (strong) drinks, excellent staff, and a HUGE variety of music! So much music you need an app, because if they printed it all, it would be a phone book thick. If you want to skip all the pretentious BS you see at so many other night spots, this is the place to do it. Come drink, sing, and have a blast! If I could give this place negative 100 stars I would. Granted that's a little dramatic however it's fitting since someone spilled and broke glass on my friend. The owners were not remorseful. We talked to the waitress who wouldn't do anything nor did the bartender. A direct quote from the bartender was "not my problem". And finally asked for the owner and described what happened to the owner or whoever the chubby Asian guy was, who seemed to be highly intoxicated, which we deduced from the two songs we observed him singing, long before this incident occurred. Both owners didn't seem sorry. One of the owners asked how long we've been there. I replied at least two hours since we came in around 10:30 and it was around 1AM at this point. But the owner didn't believe me and started saying that I was lying and calling BS. As a woman, I did not feel comfortable with the fact that this heavy set Asian guy was pointing his finger in my face and saying that what I was saying was BS. I felt like he would have hit me if it weren't for the bouncer coming in to intervene. This guy said that he was the owner I remind you. Even if I was drunk and belligerent, which I was not since I didn't order a single drink and had been drinking water the entire time I was there, a business owner should just call security to remove a person from the premises if I had been drinking. He should not escalate the issue in his drunken stupor. In fact, as the owner, he probably shouldn't have been drunk in order to better properly asses the situation. They did not want to give us our cash back for the tips we gave to sing songs we were passed over for. These guys are horrible unless you're a regular. I did not feel comfortable here knowing that this is their response when a customer service issue arises. SERIOUSLY. THESE GUYS ARE HORRENDOUS BUSINESS OWNERS AND BRING SHAME UPON OTHER SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS. The best revenge is your paper. And I am never bringing my paper back to this place. read more

This place is THE WORST. You will arrive at midnight and they will quote you a 30 minute wait for your song, and it will become 2 am and you will never get to sing. Unless you know the ignorant DJ or manager. You will have heard a number of horrible songs that you will never want to hear again. Sorry Houston, you will never compare to proper karaoke places. This bar has a good atmosphere, the DJ is quick to cycle through those who want to sing. All singers are encouraged here I saw some that couldn't carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it get just as much response from the patrons as those that could sing on a professional level. The drinks however, are a little above average on price. Valet parking is 10 dollars for a far away lot and 20 dollars for an adjacent lot. You must call to get reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. They serve food as well the quality of which is not bad but I would not cancel dinner plans just to eat there either, there is a steak night on Wednesday here as well. read more

I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE KARAOKE! I found a place that I wish could be moved to Dallas! Glitter is a little place of musical Heaven. Full service bar and Tuesday's is TACO NIGHT so it brings in the criwd. There are regular singers and newbies but they don't make you feel that way. The cute door guy checks your ID and ask if you reserved a table. I have never been to a karaoke establishment that allowed for reservations and I think it is a great thing especially for celebrating special ocassions. The bartender is a teddy bear named Todd and he serves up whatever drink you tell him without the squirrely looks you get at some places. The sound system is perfection and the KJ has an ear for making people sound great. I have only known one other KJ with that talent but he sadly has retired. The Songbook is digital and you can build a list of your favorites. Being at Glitter was such a fun experience that I might actually just roll to Houston in the weekends just to sing again and again and again! That's how much I love this place. Even if you don't sing you will love to just hangout at Glitter because the atmosphere is so much fun. Music is the great equalizer and Glitter is proof positive!! read more

Nowhere was posted that there was a 2 drink minimum to be able to sit down, and she demanded that we each order 2 drinks at once before we even got a chance to look at the drink menu. ok, so embarrassing admission of guilt -- i love karaoke. this place i've only been to once, so ill have to return and re-review. i went on a Friday night and there was a long wait on the cue to sing. there are individual tables that you sit at but the stage area gets rowdy with the drunken singing. it gets crowded pretty fast too, so come early and leave late. didn't drink when i went either, so im not helpful in that department. will return and review better! read more

This is the "Cheers" of midtown. If you go all the time youre royalty. If you are a newbie youre just a number. Theres a dress code. Stay fly. Steak Night Wednesdays is packed. They do a surprise pop up and coming chef night just about every Thursday. Great place if youre down to earth. If youre a douche, stay away, they'll acknowledge your doucherie... and so will their regular patrons. This is a DRINKING karaoke bar. If you drink, be careful... the bartenders will fuck you up. Stay away if you don't drink. You will not be served your soda nor will you be able to sing. I dont sing and about 80% of the patrons dont so u wont be alone if you dont. read more

This place is a complete rip off! Let me start by saying the waitress kept forgetting that we ordered food and it took 40 mins to get some fries when there was only one other table there and they hadn't ordered any food. She tells us "sorry the cook is having a bad night, we'll make your food now" after already telling us it was in the process of being made. Also the dj is an asshole because he kept trying to over sing people's songs and was super annoying. The drinks were weak as hell and at the end of the night the waitress was putting other people's drinks on my tab. When I went to correct it she and her manager had a complete attitude. Today I check my account and I see they gave themselves a nice tip at my expense so I would only recommend coming here if you want to get screwed over read more

This a wonderful place to go for karaoke. I'm not much of a singer but really enjoyed my night last weekend. Charming from the inside, staff are super awesome, and they even had la morte vivant on tap!! This joint is well kept and they have done a great job with the lighting. It's got the right amount of glAmour, but still feels homey and cozy. It is quite a small establishment but big on character, my kind of place. Keep up the good work, it definitely shows! read more

Major disappointments with the management and customer service at Glitter Karaoke. I had to wait two hours to get to sing a song. It was my friend's birthday and he didn't get to sing at all. He turned his song in at midnight and we stayed until close. They claim they rotate selections based on tables, but I saw the same two guys get up and sing together at least four times in that time period, and they weren't the only ones who got that kind of favored treatment. Apparently, the best way to ensure you get to perform at Glitter is "be Asian". It was my first time and I was heavily disappointed. My friend says his girlfriend's friends are regulars, but that this type of treatment towards them isn't uncommon. I wouldn't recommend it, especially with Spotlight Karaoke right across the street. (I haven't even been there yet, but they'll be getting my business next time.) read more
