I've been a Gloss customer for two years. I've NEVER walked away with less than a five star service. Hanna has become a friend. She knows what I want and at times, what I need the most, whether it's a great conversation or silence after a long day. She suggests, not sells, services I need, such as an eyebrow wax,.or if I'm particularly stressed, a herbal mani. I get gel French nails that last at least THREE weeks. Absolutely perfectly done. Mai is lovely hostess. Her husband a delight. Their shop is always uber clean and relaxing. No acrylic is done, so none of that nasty smell or sounds of grinders. My friend and mani pal gets her gels done by the hilarious Trang who is an artist in the truest sense. There is no place better. Period. read more

I moved to Melrose a month ago and was looking for a nail salon that I could afford, but could provide the ambiance and relaxation that I also wanted....I don't get my nails done often!! I noticed Gloss had great reviews and decided to call and see if I could squeeze in an appointment on such short notice. Upon calling, I had no problem getting an appointment, and walked right in, chose my color, and was seen after maybe 2 minutes of waiting (and it was really busy!). Awesome service I have to say, this probably by far the best nail salon I have been to. I can't stress enough how beautiful the decor is inside, how peaceful the music and ambiance is, and how professional and great the nail technicians are. This will for sure be my go-to nail salon, and has made me want to start being more of a nails gal in the future! Already made an appointment to return a week after my first visit for a mani-pedi. I went here yesterday after reading all the positive reviews! The shop needs a "makeover". The cushions, rugs and pillows are stained with polish, dirt and years of use. The bench and stools are uncomfortable! The plastic white foot baths are stained and need replacement. Dirty! The pedicure was just OK. Got my second pedicure today and it was super relaxing. The last pedi I got lasted me 2+ weeks. I had to take it off, but they did a really great job. Gloss is amazing. The whole place is spotless and bright white. They have such relaxing music and fun décor. The staff is super super nice and accommodating from the front desk to the technicians. I always get offered a beverage and there's a place to hang coats and leave shoes. I've had great pedicures with good leg massages. My first and last experience with this salon. Not a pedicure I can relax. Less than 10 minutes nails files cuticles cut. Nails are not filed evenly. My old nail color is still on my nails. Massage not relaxing, I feel they need to rush for the next appointment. Colors not painted neatly. 30 dollars for this pedicure wasn't worth it. I've been here a couple of times and have never had a great experience. I booked on line several days out for a mani/pedi prior to a trip. Not only did I not get the person I scheduled with, but no explanation or even acknowledgement was given. The gal I got was sweet, but her English was limited. Without asking, she proceeded to clip everyone of my fingernails. Never asked - just started clipping. When I said something about it - it was really to late to turn back - she said "too long". Um, that would be my call. I can manicure my nails just fine myself and I usually do. This was meant to be a treat and I hoped the polish would last longer than mine might have done while I was away. She gave me a time for me to come in and I asked if she can take me in early and her response was "No so do you want to come in or not" I took a second to think about it and she very coldly asked " so yes or no" I responded with no thank you and she just hang up without saying anything. I have been here twice and although the salon is chic and modern, I will not likely be returning in the future unless it's a last minute option. I got a gel manicure today and the lady who did my nails did not really talk to me and when you are sitting there for an hour you want your nail tech to be personable. I asked her to file my nails down, but she clipped them, which weakens the nails. She cut them too short for my liking. My pedicure from the first time I went is also chipping. I found their color selection to be mediocre. A lot of them were from past years and they didn't really have any recent collections. read more

This Salon is amazing! I got a mani and pedi before my vacation and I was very impressed. I'm not sure what kind of nail dryers they use but they were much better than any other nail salon I've been too. My nails dried faster and I was able to reach into my wallet without chipping/smearing them as I paid. A first! It is a little more expensive than other salons but I would say it's worth it. They made me feel very welcome and comfortable by offering me bottled water, pillows and magazines while I got my pedicure. It's very clean and the decor is unique and contemporary. Wow! Every time I go to Gloss, I have the best experience ever. The staff, the decor and the atmosphere of this place are all amazing. The professional staff goes above and beyond to make sure you are relaxed and comfortable. When in the salon, the staff make you feel as though you are the only one there. From the moment you walk in the door, the greet you with a warm hello and offer you something to drink. I have gotten gel manicures, herbal pedicures and eyebrow waxes. All of the services I have received have absolutely wonderful. My favorite service is the herbal pedicure. The spa is immaculate. All of the tools they use on their clients are one time use tools. They even open the packet of tools right in front of you, so you can feel sure that they are perfectly clean. Gloss is the best nail salon I have ever been to, and I am very picky. I brought my wedding party to gloss to get manicures and pedicures for the wedding. None of my friends have ever been there before and they all told me that this is their new nail place because they loved it so much. Everything is clean and organized. There is a lot of colors to choose from and the owner continues to update her collection. The pedicure seats are comfy with lots of pillows, and perfect for getting a pedicure with your friends or wedding party because you can all sit and chat, but also relaxing enough to get one alone. Everyone who works at Gloss is very professional and takes their time and really wants the customer to be happy. I recommend Gloss and I know they got at least 5 or 6 more customers from my wedding party, everyone was more than happy with their services and loved the modern atmosphere. read more

I got a pedicure and gel manicure at Gloss 3 days before leaving for Hawaii. The atmosphere is clean and relaxing. They have the widest assortment of colors I have ever seen and will help you pick out what's right for you. It has been a little over two weeks since my services, and the manicure is barely chipped. This is after a week and a half in Hawaii under waterfalls, in the ocean, in pools, hiking, etc. I can't believe how good my nails look. The pedicure, which was regular polish, not gel, also held up pretty well. I'm impressed and have an appointment to go back. Jenny did my nails, and she filed and painted them flawlessly. This salon is incredible! Everything looks so clean and puts my mind at ease. All of their tools are very sterile and the technicians are very talented in what they do. Everyone is very friendly and they do not make you feel like an outsider. My technician will often have conversations with me and refrains from talking to the other technicians in a different language. Have been a customer of Gloss since they opened. The spa has a beautiful, elegant setting but more importantly, it is extremely clean. I've had a number of services over the years - mani, pedi, gel, wax - and have always been very pleased with the results. The owner has the most incredible selection of polish colors and is constantly adding to her collection. In fact, I've given up on even trying to choose and most often ask her to pick for me! I came in with my bridal party a while back and had a WONDERFUL experience. We all got to sit together for our pedicures and it was really fun and relaxing. Everyone was happy with their technician and the overall experience. They let us bring in coffee cake and beverages to enjoy since we were a bridal party and it was just perfect. This is the BEST nail salon you will ever find. I love how clean, bright, and minimalist the space is. It makes for a very relaxing experience. I've been to nail salons where there are ants crawling across the table with crap laying around everywhere. Bye. This is far from your typical nail salon (and the prices aren't even top notch). Of course there are some technicians I favor, but I have never had a bad experience with any of them. Always super friendly and super efficient. A big plus is that nobody is yelling across the room to each other in another language. These ladies will become your friends! I had them do my entire bridal party for my wedding and it was perfect.
