My favorite place in Pasadena!! The food is delicious !! I have tried some sushi places but for me this is the best!!!

I've been coming here for about three years. Was actually the first place I ever tried sushi. Every time I come in everyone is so sweet and always are on top of things. And it's really clean! Always a huge plus! It gets a little busy later on the day but coming in around 12:30-1 is always nice. Especially if you don't want the "crowded/loud" feel. I say this because this place is pretty small. But it makes up for it with the food and service. If you like the top 40 in music it's always playing and they also have two nice sized tvs if you want to watch the game. All together this place has a great atmosphere and I never leave unsatisfied. read more

Stopped by randomly with my wife and kid on a Thursday. Place was pretty empty. We were seated and greeted properly. The waitress was very accommodating for our little one with the high chair and all. The thing that caught me off guard was a Hispanic chef as the sushi chef. I was a bit skeptical, not being judgy or anything just like if you walked into a Mexican restaurant and saw Asian people in the kitchen, it would throw you off a bit haha. We order some sashimi tuna and salmon, spicy tuna hand roll, salmon skin handroll, uni with a quail egg. A spider roll and something else I forgot what my wife ordered. Food came out in a timely manner. The fish tasted good not too old and not too new just the right aging I guess. The handrolls were huge and very tasty specially the salmon skin roll. What really stood out to me and my wife was the spider roll. We've ordered it at countless other places but here for some reason tasted phenomenal. The sauce they drizzled onto it was outstanding. It was the perfect balance of fried crispy salty sweet and savory. The crab they used also seemed very fresh as it just was killed while being deep fried. That really got me to look at the chef and gave him a thumbs up and nod. He literally put other joints I've been to to shame. All in all we really liked this place. Service was good given it was pretty empty at 3pm but still good. Mexican sushi chef definitely for the win on this one. Will most likely be returning to eat again. Came in on an early Saturday, I was pretty much alone in the place, sat down a few good minutes before I could get any attention, all of the sushi chefs were ignoring me as if I was not there. Later on, I was able to get my first appetizer, but then another dry-spell, I could not see anybody attending to the rest of my order, I decided to leave and to cancel the rest of my order, which was more shocking because nobody really cared, everybody just let me leave angry, I believe customer service is really not what they think they need in order to sustain their business, I hope I'm wrong. The salad was very good, Their food is very good in general but their customer service, at least the day, was no more than bad at best. read more

You might find it odd that I am reviewing a place called, "Go Go Sushi" when I don't actually eat Sushi! Well, as you might expect, there are other things on their menu. I usually order the chicken teriyaki entree, which comes with a cup of miso soup, a massive pile of ginger salad, plenty of well prepared rice and some fruit. After tax and tip the total stays under $10 and I am always more than satisfied by the time I am done eating. My girlfriend really loves the Sushi here. She likes to order the Spider Roll and Salmon Sushi. They also have a decent bowl of Udon which I get from time to time. Go Go Sushi also provides a stamp card for lunch specials, so it pays to be a regular. Give them a try! Update: Well, surprise surprise, I like sushi now. Go Go Sushi should be shut down.. It is more like OH NO Sushi. Their signs are false advertisement. They say everything is $2... so not true. I should have known better to walk into this place. It was dark and dingy, and the service was horrible. They have this conveyor belt of plastic unappetizing foods and fruit that just rotate around. I don't even know why they have that. It's useless and a waste of energy. The water tastes like chlorine and the sushi tastes horrible. I ordered a Spicy Tuna hand roll... they should have just called it Siracha with Rice. There was no tuna and I was sweating to death from all the Siracha that I inhaled. HORRIBLE!!! It was by far one of the worst places I have ever been to in my life. 1/2 way into the meal, I decided that I couldn't take it anymore and canceled the rest of my orders and asked for my check... which also took 15 minutes. I just moved to Pasadena recently and I wanted to try out a sushi restaurant that wasn't too far from my new apartment. I actually used to hate sushi but after finally being open minded a few years ago I am in love with it! I has to scope Go Go Sushi out because it had good reviews on yelp. I have to say I wasn't impressed and I have eaten a lot of sushi. I'm not sure if they were having a bad sushi night or what but it didn't taste fresh to me. I got the special that night which was some spicy Albacore carpaccio. It was okay it didn't taste too great and Albacore is my favorite so I'm critical on it. We also got like a tuna tartare it did not taste fresh at all because I tasted the fishy/gamey taste and I can't stand that. We got the Crunchy Roll, Baby Lobster Roll, and then the Spider Roll. Out of all the dishes I enjoyed the Spider Roll the most it was a big portion and tasted the best out of everything. Maybe it was a bad night but I didn't have a good experience there Service wasn't bad it was the food that wasn't up to par sorry to say. read more

My go-to sushi place! Have been coming here for over 2 years and the service is always friendly and helpful. Food is always great and reasonably priced, (I recommend you come in for their lunch time specials. Super cheap appetizers!) They also have great takeout service for call ahead orders. Everything is kept neat and utensils are always provided. I have yet to experience any issues with this place. I have been coming here with my family ever since it has opened! I began going with my boyfriend 3 years ago as well. Anyways this place is just ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The place is literally 5 blocks away from where i live. The place is a bit small but i think it would lose it's charm if they were to expand. The sushi here is amazing. I have been to other places like Kabuki, A float sushi, wokano, Octopus and a place that's a fair oaks whose name isn't even worth mentioning because it wasn't that good. And let me tell you, go go sushi is the place to go for sushi in Pasadena. The prices are affordable and the quality is spectacular. Everything is good here. and when i say everything i mean from the boxed lunch or dinner to the miso soup. You must come to this place if you're on a budget and is craving sushi! read more

Every time I come here, there is always parking and that's a good thing. Their sushi is delicious and what makes it even more delicious is that they have certain sushi rolls for two dollar like the spicy albacore that I always get. Two dollars for four pieces, not bad, not bad at all. I wish they would give some kind of appetizer to us like edamame. Not big on that but I thought it would be better. They have special rolls too that ranges from seven to eleven dollars. Service was just alright. Nothing special about it. Sometimes it takes awhile for them to notice you to help you. If you happen to sit at the sushi bar, it's pretty interesting to look at how the sushi chefs cut the sushi. This place is next to Lee's Hoagie Sandwich. read more

Gogo sushi is one of our favorite sushi restaurant in Los Angeles county. It is one of the most reasonably priced sushi restaurants you can find in Pasadena actually. We have been coming here for years. We wanted to come and support them during this covid pandemic. They have a plenty of parking lot located in front of the restaurant. We ordered the lobster roll, Crunchy roll, tiger roll, Gogo poke bowl, and Salmon teriyaki bento box. Everything was as good as eating there. We are definitely coming back again soon. read more

As I was driving back from Azusa from a heavy task, I had burned a lot of calories and deserved a break before heading back home. If my recent visit to a sushi restaurant, I thought about restarting my sushi visits. I was craving sushi since my last visit. With the help of Yelp, I found Go Go Sushi in Pasadena. Located in a strip mall about one block west of Sierra Madre Blvd on Colorado Blvd, you'll find Go Go Sushi. You won't see the store right from the street since its a little hidden. At first, I thought Go Go Sushi was closed. So did the other couple that walked right in hesitating to open the door. It was the tint on the windows that threw me and the couple off. I walked in and right away I saw a conveyor belt. I am not sure what the conveyor belt was for since I ordered from the menu. I sat right at the sushi bar. The waitress came by and right away I asked for hot sake ($5.95)! I got my order sheet and ordered me a new favorite, Caterpillar Ell Roll ($9.25) and Scallop Tempura Roll ($8.25). While I waited, I used the restroom to wash up. The restrooms are single person use. One urinal and toilet. I am not exactly sure why the towel dispenser is so low. It was on the same level as the sink. I would think it would be 2 more feet higher. I got back to my seat and I noticed the ginger readily available in a box. I love my ginger and I love the idea of having it out. One of the sushi chefs gave me a plate of wasabi and right away started to mix with soy sauce. That usually triggers to get ready to eat some sushi. I got my plate of hot Scallop Tempura Roll. It was huge portions and for some reason, I had forgotten how to handle chopsticks. The fried scallop topped the crab meat sushi with their signature Go Go Special Sweet Sauce. It was hot, crunchy, and DELICIOUS! While I just devoured one piece, the Caterpillar Eel Roll was placed in front of me. I had to grab ginger and clean my palette. Before you think about Caterpillar Eel Roll, DO NOT THINK about the bug, Caterpillar. Well, when you do get your dish, it actually does remind you of a caterpillar because of the green avocado on top of the Eel Roll. Just don't think about it and eat it. Its delicious and with the Go Go Special Sweet Sauce. After finishing both Scallop Tempura Roll and Caterpillar Eel Roll. I was still hungry and I had about 1/4 of sake left. Since I was still hungry, I ordered the Hungry Roll ($7.95). The wait for the Hungry Roll would be a little more longer since deep frying is involved. I saw deep fried tuna roll come out of the kitchen and it looked huge as a whole. When the sushi chef cut it down, I felt even more relaxed. I thought I had to down a huge deep fried, hot pocket. When the plate landed in front of me, I ate a piece right away and forgot the sushi chef said it was still hot. Yeah, it was hot, but it was hot for a good reason. Instead of the soy sauce and wasabi, the Go Go Special Sweet Sauce dominated the condiments and I loved it. The rating is more of a 3.3 Stars. The chefs weren't as talkative as the other sushi locations that I have been to. The environment was very calm and I wasn't sure what kind of crowds pass through here. There are TVs, but it tells me that entertainment is provided through the TV and customers, but not from the staff. Its not near any schools, but is near a busy intersection. Located on Colorado Blvd, but a little outside of Old Town Pasadena, Go Go Sushi offers a great lunch special at a great price! It's in a small plaza next to Lee's Sandwiches. The parking lot is shared with other businesses, but parking is not an issue. FYI, it used to be a rotating sushi restaurant, but no longer is, so do not expect it to be even though the belt is still at the sushi bar. Their lunch specials are Monday-Saturday from 11am-4pm. They offer a great lunch combo/bento box for only $7.95-8.95! Each combo comes with shrimp tempura (1 piece), mixed vegetable tempura (3 pieces), fried gyoza (2 pieces), salad, miso soup, rice, sunomono (pickled cucumbers), and a choice of California rolls (4 pieces) or spicy tuna rolls (4 pieces). With each combo, you have to choose your meat with the selections of chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken teriyaki, Cajun chicken, Cajun beef, beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, spicy salmon teriyaki, Cajun salmon, calamari steak teriyaki, chicken katsu, bulgogi, and marinated beef. They also have lunch plates (rice, soup, mixed tempura, sashimi salad, and choice of beef, chicken, or salmon) for $12.99 and lunch bowls from $6.25-8.75. We tried the chicken teriyaki ($7.95) and spicy salmon teriyaki ($8.95) special lunch combo box. The mixed tempura was great because it was not overly battered, not oily, and remained crunchy even later in the meal. Their gyoza was also not oily and was tasty as well. I loved the dressing on their salad! It was different from most Japanese restaurants I've been to because it wasn't a miso or orange flavored dressing. Also, I liked that their teriyaki sauce wasn't overly sweet or thick. Their spicy tuna was fresh!! The spicy salmon teriyaki had a Sriracha flavor and wasn't overly spicy, but had some heat. The service was very quick, from seating, ordering, and receiving our food. Our waitress was attentive and kept refilling our water, even as it got busy during the lunch hour. Great sushi with a family feel. I don't care about whether there's a conveyor belt, or if there are those fake made up rolls. This place is comfortable, gets right to the point. (The point being = sushi.) I've tried many sushi places in LA- but I keep coming back here. Lobster roll is bomb- sashimi salad is amazing and fresh! Their salmon and yellowtail are my favorite. Surprisingly very good. Love float sushi's! Reminds me of being in Japan a bit... :) Anyway...ordered Salmon, Yellowtail sushi - delish!!! Cut well and tasted awesome. The rice wasn't as warm, but who cares. These were cheap and delish! Seaweed salad - very yummy and fresh. Thought they could've had less sesame oil but oh well. Unagi + teriyaki beef rolls - Excellent though...I think they were a bit heavy handed with the sauce. Chicken Yakatori - I loved the tender meats! 2 for $3.50. Skittle Roll - crab, salmon and tuna (?) ...very good and very unique. I loved it! They are discounted Mon -Thurs... and they certainly have a lot of items to pick from. :) Highly recommended! Go Go Juicy We came to this place by accident. Masa on Colorado was closed and so we ended up here to fix our teriyaki lunch special craving. To my surprise it wa delicious here as well and had more food for a lesser price than Masa. I believe the quality is better at Masa but since it's cheaper than Masa, it comes out equally the same in my book. The food here was in generous portions and they also had the gyoza for additional plus they have sushi with the lunch special meals. Service was a little slow but they had more people than Masa. Place seemed a bit more ghetto looking but it's good enough. I would definitely come back here, the food was good and price was good. This place is hard to find since it's cramped in the plaza on Colorado but it's almost like a hidden gem. read more

The boyfriend and I go here every once in a while for a quick and cheap sushi fix. It's not really anything special but they have $2 rolls. That's what draws people in I guess. Anything other than the $2 rolls are typically priced. I like the conveyor belt, but I agree with the other reviewers about the unfriendly staff. No one greets you, the chef looks miserable, and the follow-up service is hard to come by. Hmmm...why do I come here??? When i write it all out, it seems a lot worse than it really is. I've never left unhappy or pissed off, so it's not that bad. The sushi taste good and most the rolls I order are $2. So, yeah, I like GoGo, i like it just fine. read more

If you are having a sushi craving and are on a budget or short on cash, this place may be the place for you. They have $2 rolls available here and other dishes for around the same. I know when I go there I typically order the chicken teriyaki combination plate which consists of a side salad, tempura vegetables, 2 or 4 pieces of sushi, rice and the chicken teriyaki. Also included in this deal is a bowl of soup. All this food comes for about $5.95. If you're still feeling the craving for sushi, depending on the type of sushi roll, it's $2-4 each. Their menu offers quite a bit of sushi, but if you're not feeling up for it they have combination plates with chicken. It's a great, calm, quiet restaurant, which isn't far from PCC. After all the fast food, this was a wonderful change of pace and didn't hurt my pocket so much. It's been awhile since I've been here, but I wouldn't be so opposed to going back. Mediocre. It has been many years since I was at this place and the LA Times (god, they suck) wrote up Go Go Sushi as being good! Fish was not that fresh (especially the salmon). 2 DOLLAR SUSHI. Well, kinda. Not all the sushi is 2 bucks. But the important ones are. Tuna, yellow tail, mackerel, (sashimi). And I'm almost certain all basic rolls are 2 dollars. Now, the most obvious draw to this place is its prices. Which are all around pretty good. 2 dollars for you basic sushi is a good deal at any time. They have typical lunch specials i guess which will run you something like 6 dollars I think. Forgive me, if I'm wrong, but ill see about correcting this the next time I go there. Such and inexpensive meal must sacrifice quality of course. Actually, in that assumption you would be very wrong. very wrong. Of all the times that I've eaten here, not once have i even gotten sick (except for the first time i tried sea urchin. But i don't think that had anything to do with gogo). The fish is never "fishy," and you never have to worry about the preparation, because its all made right there (as it should be done). Now this is not Sushi Roku, or Sushi of Naples, or Kabuki, or even Matsuri, so don't expect any sense of lavishness or pieces of art work to appear on your plate. This place is strictly function. This restaurant is located in a strip mall. It has a revolving sushi bar as well as a dining area. Unlike other revolving sushi bars, I didn't see sushi sitting on the belt going around and around. It was pretty empty. Perhaps you had to order what you wanted before it got placed on the belt. We sat in the regular dining area and ordered mussels, California Rolls, Lobster Roll, and Caterpillar Roll. The lobster roll had a lobster on it (for less than $10!) but it didn't really taste like lobster. It didn't taste like anything. But still, when it comes to sushi, I'm quantity over quality and am always on the lookout for cheap sushi since I douse my stuff in wasabi and soy sauce anyway. Came here for a quick bite for lunch with the kids after a class. We ordered the following: Grilled salmon bento lunch special (came with mixed tempura, CA rolls, wontons, salad, rice, and salmon): just okay - the tempura and rice were yummy / the wontons, CA rolls, miso soup, and salad didn't taste the way they should; like fresh / the salmon was middle of the road. Edamame was plentiful but undercooked. Avocado rolls and seaweed salad were great. Food overall: 2.5 stars Basically, the service sucked - no good reason either - it wasn't busy at all but we never saw our server once our food was eventually brought out; no refills, no "is there anything else I can get you?", not even a visit to unload the check. We were abandoned! I couldn't believe it, but I actually had to get up and ask for our bill almost an hour later from the sushi guy at the bar up front. The lady apologized, but that's no excuse. 0 stars We paid $17 for the not-so-quick-lunch. Way overpriced for what turned to be a mediocre, if that, experience. I would recommend Kabuki in Hastings, down the road for the same price (or less, for lunch), better service, and waaay better food. read more

Ordered some sushi and sashimi for me and hubby. It was unfortunately the most tasteless fish I have ever had and the fish was a little too cold, which made the texture off. Didn't quite know what the problem was. It's not fishy or anything. Just tasteless. My son liked his cooked food and udon though. I guess I would have given this place a 3 star had its name does not contain the work "Sushi". With that name, I expects decent sashimi and sushi. They do have a lot of non-traditional sushi rolls that people seems to like. But don't think we will be going back. read more

I've been eating here consistently since they opened a few years ago. I'll admit I'm not a connoisseur when it comes to sushi. I am, however, a seafood lover and a big fan of sashimi. I don't usually care for rolls but their Sexy Roll is the best roll I've ever had! Salmon, yellowfin tuna, avocado, and sprouts all wrapped in cucumber and placed on a plate with a thin layer of ponzu sauce. I could eat this all day! Their Lunch Combo Box is a great meal at a great price too. Grilled steak (good steak too) or chicken with rice, gyoza (2 pc.), vegetable tempura, shrimp tempura (1 pc.), miso soup, salad, and either California rolls or spicy tuna (4 pc.) for around nine bucks. Can't beat it. They also have a mango salad that is absolutely delicious! The staff has always been friendly and the service is good. The place is simple and clean. There was one time I walked in and it smelled like something went bad, but that was one time out of about 300 times I've been there so I can't hold it against them. Again, I'm no expert when it comes to sushi, but for quality sashimi and good terriyaki plates at a reasonable price I'd recommend this place for you and your mom. read more

My boyfriend and I went here the other night for dinner. We found positive reviews for GO GO on yelp and saw a yelp sticker on the door so thought we picked a good place! Unfortunately it was some of the worst sushi we have ever had. My boyfriend ordered tuna sashimi which he said was slimy and very chewy. He also ordered Go Go's signature roll which fell apart upon touching it. He said 80% of it was mayonnaise and imitation crab. Yum! I ordered an avocado roll which was standard and some vegetable tempura which had a very hard tasteless shell and I'm fairly sure was reheated for my order! If you are in Pasadena and want Sushi, you can do better than Go Go. We were bummed that we spent $50 here. What a waste. read more

With sushi bars to the left and right of you in SoCal, it's hard to really stand out. This place, sadly, doesn't quite stand out. It's not to say to not give this place a try. First and foremost, if you're ordering one of their lunch plate specials...watch that clock! Most of us have 1-hour lunches, so when the clock is ticking, resulting in only 10 minutes to inhale everything because hey, you need the 10 minutes or so to get to/from work, timing is about everything! That being said, their lunch special of soup, rice, salad, tempura and sashimi salad, on top of your choice of meat...you'll be stuffed...but perhaps mainly stuffed due to having to pack all that food in 10-15 minutes because it takes a while to get all the items to actually genuinely enjoy it. Pricey for lunch yes, but if you have the time to actually enjoy it, I say it's not too bad of a choice. I do say if you want to try any of their lunch rice bowls, aim for the spicy chicken bowl. Again, this order magically takes 15-20 minutes to make once you order it (scratches head), but once you do, damn, it is oh so good! When they say spicy, it is definitely spicy, so it's not for the faint of heart. I'm a spicy eater kind of gal and I'll admit, this gave a drop of sweat on my forehead! The sushi here is average at best, and not quite "$2" as they are so proud to state on the front door. That shouldn't deter you from trying it though. Is the fresh 'butter' fresh where it'd melt in your mouth? Not by a long shot, but if you come here for the sushi, it'll come down the conveyor belt much quicker than ordering any of their hot foods, so if time is of the essence, this is your way to go. Definitely a spot to go when you're craving sushi and it ain't quite pay day yet, it'll hit the spot. read more

Go Go is a Yes Yes... this place is near where me n my Fiance live. we take our Dogs next door to my Pet garden! this place has real decent sushi for not so high prices. The jalapeno spicy tuna and cream cheese poppers are great to share (one will do u good, they come in 3) and the Eel roll is my fav! read more

Alright, I've been here a couple more times since my last review. So... Calamari Tempura - SKIP. It didn't have much flavor, and the sauce/lemon wedges couldn't make up for it. BSC roll - DO IT. It's super filling with a ton of scallops on top. Yum! Spicy lobster hand roll - DO IT. $3.25 for a hand roll. You can't go wrong. Sunset roll - DO IT. Eel and scallops all in one roll?! How can you go wrong? Vegas Roll - DO IT. Hubby loved it, and he's a super picky eater. They also have a full page of cooked rolls for those who don't do raw fish, and there are markers next to the rolls that are cooked on the back. Enjoy! read more

Well, after the "Masa Experience" we had to find a new close sushi place. So we tried Go Go Sushi. It is a rotating sushi bar. I enjoyed the lighting and decor. The staff was very nice and professional. I really enjoyed the food. I had salmon sushi (like butter), the soft shell crab roll (YUM!!), spicy tuna and some other rolls my boyfriend ordered. All delicious! And for a really great price. Our sushi chef, Tommy was really friendly and I'm looking forward to our next trip to Go Go Sushi. Rating changed because I went there for lunch in Early August, 2011 because I got bad service.. actually, bad service is a step up from no service. I was seated and ready to order within a couple of minutes, but the server was tending to two other tables for awhile. If you're wondering why I didn't hand my order to the sushi chefs, it was because I was actually gonna order a bento or chirashi, and some appetizers (these are actually cheaper and more filling than sushi). I sat there for 10 minutes (yes, I timed it) with the server not coming by.. she didn't even look my way, and didn't even ask for my drink order. I decided to get up and go to Flame Broiler in Alhambra. Now before you're thinking I'm just being mean, I've heard from others that this particular server has made them wait or forgot them as well. Why the 3 stars instead of 1 if I got bad service? I know the sushi is still good, but it'll take me awhile to forgive the server's neglect.
