    Original Cheesesteak
    Tyler O.

Solid, well filled, tasty cheesesteak. Fries were crispy, maybe a bit too salty. Banana pudding was solid, but I wish it had banana slices when it costs $8. Service took a little longer than expected, but the food was worth it and the servers were sweet. Mostly a takeout spot with very little seating. It's a bit expensive at about $20 for a combo, but for a well stuffed and tasty cheesesteak and solid fries, it's not the worst deal.

My son is on a constant quest for the perfect fast food. Together we comb the South Sound for burgers, deli sandwiches, fried chicken, and gyros. But he had never had a chopped cheese sandwich and was curious because he'd seen one on YouTube lol. Service was fine, location of on Tacoma Ave is noisy from traffic but there are some picnic tables. And the sandwich -- it was a chopped cheese -- exactly what he wanted.

Visiting a friend in Tacoma and we went here. It's all outdoors and I wasn't sure if I'd like any of the Philly's based on other reviews but I feel you can't go wrong with fish and chips! Service was not good for it being a pick up window -- I was surprised to say the least. Being put on hold while the person taking my order was visibly on their phone is actually crazy! I enjoy my food served hot and ready and this was perfect! The fish had smoke coming out of it when I split it open and it wasn't all batter so that was good! Overall good food, bad service, but quick and easy!

It is in a wonderful location. However, customer service is not the best. I came here at my husband 's request to pick up a lunch special. The 9.95 special before 1pm is a great motivator to run and get lunch. But they lose a couple of stars for just the service. I do not get it but maybe food service is high pressure. I recommend being a least a bit more cordial and kind of focus a little more on greeting customers and making sure the orders are correct. I ordered a lemon lime drink and Hi C for my son. We got our lemon lime drink but some mystery dark soda. Well the fries is a generous amount and the sandwich is a good amount of meat. Cheese is not too overwhelming so that is good. For good food and location service needs to improve. They have great potential and I honestly want them to stay around here. So I say to the lady at the window to just relax and smile a little bit more. And we love your sandwiches a lot. Thanks.

Everything. This is absolutely ridiculous. This sandwich is falling apart. There's no tarter. The fish isnNON EXISTENT. and this cost 17$?!! I will never eat here again. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Cajun fries (after I ate some already)
    Troy H.

Nice little cheesesteak shack. Had the hot pastrami with sauerkraut and provalone with Cajun fries. Very good amount of meat. Kraut not too aggressive. Definitely a good sandwich if you are in the mood. But the Cajun fried were really good. The crisp on them was amazing and the oil didn't taste old. Seasoning was really flavorful and had a decent amount of spice to them. The service was very friendly and prompt. Fountain sodas available. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time, so you know it's made to order. I would totally eat here again next time I'm in town.

The food was amazing! The fries were fresh, you could tell that they were made to order. The cheese steak was very yummy, it was cheese, and I loved the meat to onion ratio. Service was great. I would only recommend that they wrap the sandwiches a little cleaner. There was cheese all over the outside of the paper and it got everywhere and we didn't get any napkins. Overall, I cannot wait to come back to Go Philly!

Once again another wonderful cheesesteak from Go Philly! I love this place. The staff here is friendly. Not yo mention they keep the place up.

    Mushroom cheesesteak
    Chris G.

A pretty solid cheesesteak if not a bit on the smaller side. The place is small and only has exterior seating. And it gets busy during meal times. I highly recommend ordering ahead. It's convenient and also lets you know an ETA and alerts you when your order is ready. The parking lot is also very small. All-in-all it seems to be the best cheesesteak in Tacoma, so we will be returning.

Gross sloppy greasy sandwich supposed to be chicken peppers and provolone
    Melissa T.

What a disappointment. I ordered a chicken pepper steak with provolone cheese and mayo. And what I got was a complete disaster. Sure there's chicken cheese and peppers in there not too many peppers. But the amount of mayo in here dominates the sandwich. The bread immediately fell apart mushy from the second I took it out out of the wrapper and most of the rapper stuck to the sandwich. I opened it up as soon as I left the place and there was no time in between when I received the text message that my order was ready and me picking it up. I was excited to get my birthday reward cheesesteak and it was the first thing I haven't cooked for myself in a long time. And this only proves why I don't go out and spend money at locations because the food is unreliable. This is inedible because there is wrapper stuck to the sandwich and the bread is disgusting. I would have to take it all apart to salvage what isn't doused in mayo to put it on an English muffin because that's all I have. I didn't go to the store to do my grocery shopping I went out to buy myself a cheesesteak!! I tipped them, for the record. I even asked for light ice half of my container is ice. Imagine if I hadn't asked for light ice! Overall 100% disappointed and would not recommend. What happened?!?!! This place used to be great.

    Crunchy garlic fries
    Eilene C.

Conveniently located on Tacoma Ave S near downtown Tacoma, their menu has everything for everyone in the family. With outdoor seating only, we took our food home to eat. It was still nice and warm when we got home. We loved their original and deluxe cheesesteak! We also surprisingly loved their buffalo saucy cheesesteak and will be ordering that again next time! Garlic fries were delicious and their jumbo wings were nice and crunchy. Cashier was friendly and patient while we placed a large order.

I couldn't remember the name of the place, but we found it: The Fish Peddler! We must have arrived at a perfect interval because there was a table for two that had just been bussed and ready for us near the large counter in the back where food was collected by servers and presented to hungry patrons at any of the 30-40 tables. Our server was genuinely warm and delightful and guided us to the menu and the on-line beer on tap information. Drinks were ordered and delivered in minutes - just enough time for us to announce our selections: A 3-piece halibut and chips for her, and for me, the albacore tuna with spring greens and gouda cheese on sourdough with a pint of I'm Not Afraid Of Music. It had the lowest alcohol content, and since I was driving, didn't want to push my luck. When our huge white dinner plates arrived - oh - did I mention the amazing jalapeño coleslaw? - we were amazed at the size of the perfectly deep fried halibut - which, on their own, provide a good bite, making only a smitten of tartar sauce necessary because you gotta have tartar sauce with fried fish, after all, right? I picked up one my sandwich haves and removed the toothpick with too much gusto and suffered a small splinter that I couldn't remove until I got home a couple of hours later with the help of a magnifying glass, a tweezer and some masking tape. But I ignored the splinter while I enjoyed my "this is NOT your mom's - or HER mom's - Tuna melt". The perfect balance of the albacore spread with the gouda showing up gloriously in almost every bite, the pillowy and cool greens and tomato slice that balanced the heat from the albacore between the two lightly toasted sourdough was my Valentine's Day gift to my mouth. We were stuffed, but not defeated - we ordered our cheesecake to go, and I get to have the last piece of halibut for a snack later on! It was great getting re-acquainted with This cozy, fun, busy restaurant since our last (and first) visit 3 years ago. My only regret is that for some unknown but surely inexcusable reason, I had waited three years before returning. Won't happen again.

Pros: - Our server was very sweet and came off as genuine! - The cocktails were really good! - The ambiance was nice! Cons: - Service was very clumsy, overall. - We came in on an averagely busy night (nice weather, but on a Tuesday - lots of open tables). Right off the bat, the greeters were not focused. We asked for a table for a party of two, and we found ourselves waiting there with no communication from them that they were working on seating us - basically they went back to chatting with each other. I had to go back and ask a few minutes later if they were planning on seating us before we got an "oh yeah, sorry one sec". Meanwhile they were joking around with each other. I truly am all for having a good time at work, but it wasn't clear that they were focused on us. I'm willing to believe they were working on it, but at the end of the day we were left guessing. - Our food took a pretty long time to get out, again compared to the fact that it was relatively slow. - Not gonna lie, the food was mid. I think I have realistic standards, but this is a relatively high-budget menu so I was expecting a little more. I'll end by saying, I'm not a serial negative reviewer. I wouldn't have left this review if the bill wasn't as pricey as it was. I believe that people are good, but the processes behind this place were rough.

For apps, we had the fried calamari (wish it was crispier), pho inspired pork ribs, and the salmon dip, both were big hits with our group. Most of us built our own sets. I got the miso glazed cod with the Hawaii set, and the cod was perfect: flaky, juicy and flavorful. Portions look light at first, but you'll leave full. Back before it was sold, my dad would come in, sit at the table, and instantly a Manhattan was placed in front of him. That wonderful, old-type service. The new owners have been around for a while and did a wonderful refresh on the property. They kept a lot of the household favorites on the menu -- mine being the shucked and sautéed crab legs. Extremely decadent and pricey, but well worth it. Anytime you're wanting to come for a birthday or a special event, I highly recommend this dish. If you're coming by yourself or just as a table of two, try getting a table in the bar. It's intimate and cozy, and probably only seats 20 people. Today was supposed to be a quick, light stop after work: shrimp cocktail, a couple drinks, and some time in the old Harbor Lights bar. Walking in, I was immediately reminded of one of my biggest frustrations with this space. Yes, it's small--but the outdated tables and chairs make it far too easy for people to block the walkways. And when those walkways are filled with loud, inappropriate, "stuck-in-1976" commentary from intoxicated older men acting like they're still in their 20s, it makes navigating the room even more uncomfortable. At one point, we were stuck sitting there listening to them loudly joke about having female urologists and proctologists--one word: GROSS. Speaking up doesn't feel like a safe or worthwhile option--it just escalates things. The bar could absolutely keep its charm while still evolving into a more comfortable, modern, and inclusive space. Then there's the menu situation--multiple menus stacked in front of you like a paper shuffle. It's unnecessary and could easily be streamlined. Now, the drinks... this is where things really fell off. Harbor Lights used to be known for strong drinks--that reputation feels long gone. I ordered a vodka-based drink and it went down like juice--no taste, no kick, nothing. When I asked for a double on the second round, the bartender laughed and said all their drinks are doubles and that they don't measure, claiming there was 2 1/2 oz of liquor in it. We watched him make it: no measuring, just a free pour over ice, stopping well short of the top, then filling it with rhubarb-strawberry purée. When it arrived, it felt more dropped on the table than served. I gave it a fair shot--a big sip--and again... no vodka taste whatsoever. No burn, no effect. I know my liquor, and this didn't add up. It really makes you question what's actually being poured. And then... the shrimp cocktail. How do you mess this up? This was the one thing I could always count on. It's always been unique and consistently good--but this time? Way too much horseradish. Completely threw off the balance. I still ate it, but it was not the same experience at all. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the uncomfortable atmosphere, lackluster drinks, and a once-reliable favorite falling short, Harbor Lights just isn't what it used to be.
