The menu has a lot of fun wordplay, which made it more memorable. I ordered the "Forbidden One" and it did not disappoint. The omelette was super tasty, the bacon was perfectly crispy, and the chicken was well-seasoned and not dry at all. Even the fruit cup stood out. The Californication omelette was fluffy and packed full of ingredients, then topped nicely with some avocado. The home potatoes were crispy and well seasoned, and the fruit on the side was a nice touch. I also had one of their seasonal lattes and was blown away by how great it tasted; light, but flavorful at the same time. I met a friend at Goat Head for brunch. It's a small but delicious little place in SLC. It's a little dark inside which is great for focusing conversation. It was a little loud when totally full. I ordered the Californication omelette. They easily accommodated my gluten allergy by cooking my potatoes on the stovetop instead of the fried ones everyone else got. Everything was really good and I didn't feel crappy afterward! This is a counter order place with no real table service. But overall, it felt clean and welcoming. Even the bathroom seemed clean. While the chicken was flavorful, we didnt love the cornmeal waffle. The dish needed a slaw or some freshness to cut the richness and heaviness of the fish. The food here was really delicious. I had an omelette and my friend had the croissant sandwich and both were exceptional. I typically don't like to eat the potatoes, but these came with a delicious aioli sauce. I also have a cornbread waffle that served with hot honey and I think I'll try that next time. We had to wait a while to order, there was no one in front of us but the staff were busy making drinks and serving. They might want to hire more staff for busy times to avoid that. The wait from when we actually ordered to getting our food was 35 mins. There are no reservations or guaranteed seating. We sat at the bar and the small bar chairs and hard wall underneath was a bit uncomfortable at times. I liked the Squirrel's nest french toast. You could tell it was real maple syrup, and the sweetness of the soft bread with crispy edges, hazelnuts, and sweet creamy ricotta all melded well together. Unfortunately the Poultry in Motion sandwich was disappointing. If someone made me this at their home, I'd enjoy it, but for a restaurant meal I want more. The flavors were basic, nothing that made me excited to keep eating, the chicken was pretty dry, and it would've benefited from a toothpick in the center since it was falling apart. The coffee was strong and good; I wish I had been offered another cup much earlier into my meal, so I think this is the downside of their service model. There is street parking, I think they might be working on their own private parking lot in the back but it's not accessible to customers at this time. I was surprised they didn't give any utensils or napkins and it wasn't until later that I realized. I got the Corrido de Cortez (huevos rancheros) with added sausage, El Mariachi burrito with sausage, and the Squirrel's nest French toast. The sausage and French toast were a bit dry but overall, everything was pretty good! The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating, and it gets packed quickly. The setup is confusing when we came in we were told to sit anywhere, but when we sat down were told to order food at the counter. That might sound simple, but the problem is once you get up to order, people coming in think your seats are open and try to sit down. A better system would make the experience less chaotic. For my drink, I asked if they could make an Arnold Palmer (sweet tea and lemonade). The cashier said yes, but didn't mention that they don't have sweet tea--it's actually green tea. Only when the drinks were brought out did the server put it down and call it a "green tea lemonade," which was honestly awful. A simple explanation up front would've avoided the whole issue. When I politely asked if I could just have a lemonade instead, the server got mad, sighed loudly, and said "Ugh, I guess I just have to waste this drink and throw it out." Then she came back, slammed the lemonade down between my friends without saying excuse me, and walked off. No apology, no professionalism, just attitude. That same server had literally greeted us when we first walked in with "OH BOY" and a stank face, as if more customers walking in was some kind of burden. On top of that, the food comes out sporadically so if you're eating with friends, don't expect to get your food at the same time. Maybe it's because of the small kitchen, but no one bothers to explain that. The food itself? Honestly, it was really good we all enjoyed it. But the terrible service overshadowed everything. The server's aggression and hostility made the whole experience uncomfortable. I was really looking forward to this place, every time I passed it on my way home. The metal head in me was quite tickled by the name and logo. Let's start with the good. The food was awesome. The latte was made with love, care and impressive latte art. I had The Road Warrior and I was not disappointed. There's a lot of thought and love put into the dishes on this menu and that really shows. I was very charmed by the names as well. The Team 3 Star reference in particular was an unexpected delight. The servers were great. Very friendly and attentive and seemed to be very on top of the customers even during the brunch rush. The ambiance kind of threw me off. I suppose I judged a book by its cover but I was expecting a place called "Goat Head" to be like Aces High Saloon but for brunch! Instead it was rather plain inside with some inoffensive music and a cheeky menu. I understand this is a new restaurant so it likely doesn't have the highest budget for decor but I was kind of shocked at how naked the walls looked. No portait of any musicians, no paintings or even a picture of a Goat or something. It felt to me like Goat Head got a rad name, a sweet menu and then when it came to designing the interior it felt afraid of the theme of its own name seemed to promise. Either that or simply lacked the budget. The ordering system was a little unconventional. I prefer someone taking my order and then if service is above and beyond I can leave a nice tip but the kiosk functions even if a little inconvenient. I was also surprised that the water was self serve. Again I think if you lean into the theme harder the "Serve yourself, Ave Satanas" something or other could really be cool and might bother people getting their own water less. I am so serious, legitimately put a sign that says something to that effect in 'Ghostbum' font above the water. It would be perfect. Overall I wanted to LOVE Goat Head but instead, I really liked it. Most importantly the food delivers. The service nailed it. Some visual and practical design left a little to be desired but I am absolutely rooting for this place and wish it all the success in the world and am anxious to see it grow and really sink into its own identity. read more

So I didn't get to take a picture of my food, but I ordered the huevos rancheros. My boyfriend ordered the French Toast with Hazlenut ricotta. I will absolutely have to say that both of these dishes did not lack not even for a second any type of flavor my eggs were extremely flavorful and tasty and bursting in flavor and the almond ricotta hazelnut French toast were sweet, but not too sweet. We were just the perfect amount of softness but the moment you cut into the French toast it was soft. It was warm. It was moist and I highly recommend coming back to this place.
