I suggested Goddess and the Baker to a couple old friends as I was in town for the day. I love the restaurant prior to the pandemic but was thoroughly disappointed today. I ordered the Greek Chicken Salad and a latte and the salad wasn't worth finishing. Soggy lettuce, canned cubed beets and canned chickpeas were obviously dumped into the bowl without seasoning or heat. the Tzatziki was sour cream. Gave them a tip at check out and it turns out they don't even bring you the food nor check on you if you need anything. The drinks were watered down. The dessert was so-so. I am OBSESSED with this place! While I lived in Chicago, I had been wanting to try this place, but never got the timing right. So, when I found out a location opened in Brookfield, I immediately told my boyfriend we have to go! I have returned to this establishment on multiple occasions, so let me breakdown some of the highlights! 1) Great customer service! Sharon took my order at the counter and later on, stopped by my table and we chatted for a bit. Very kind! When I was there for the second time, there was a slight delay in my food being served, so the manager apologized and offered me a free dessert! 2) There is a large desserts and pastry display in the front that will catch your eye! It all looks very appetizing! 3) I always order the baker's chopped! Such a great tasting salad and very filling! I had once ordered the smoked salmon plate which was also flavorful! 4) Their chai latte is great and I am not sure if this is a lunch special thing, but it came with a small muffin on the top of my straw! A cute touch! 5) I highly recommend this place! The seating area is very large and spacious! The decor is very modern and clean. White counters and large sign in the back that reads, Eat Now, Caffeinate. There is parking located all around the mall, so this is not an issue. 6) I want to try their rainbow cake! Whenever I'm visiting family in the area, this is my new spot of choice for a meal. I love the range of vegetarian options for starters, but there are also lots of fun drink options and desserts that are way too interesting to pass up. The space itself is also really lovely, every bit of it definitely designed to be Instagram worthy. And they have nice patio seating during warm weather as well. The Corners has plenty of underground parking too, so that's never a concern. A couple of times the quality of the items we ordered wasn't quite top notch, which is why I can't give the full five stars. But still a solid choice nonetheless! read more

I had big hopes for the Goddess and the Baker, and am still holding out for more sentiment after future visits. The concept is awesome -- a healthy restaurant in the middle of Brookfield Corners. A nicer, fancier, pricier Panera & Starbucks combination. The first time I visited, I was bummed to see they did not accept cash. I actually thought that was a legal requirement of a business, but I guess not. I don't use cash often, but I just so happened to have some I wanted to use. It seems like with the location being out in the suburbs, you might have some older folks dropping by that prefer cash. I ordered the Quinoa & Arugula salad. Pretty good, but honestly overpriced. I just don't think a salad should total more than 10 bucks. Being in the web/marketing business, I always find it rude when companies do not put the cost of the menu items on their website. Just be transparent -- it's a necessity in today's society. We want to know what we're paying for before we go there. I've visited and ordered an iced matcha drink. Pretty good. Every drink is a piece of art. I appreciate the attention to detail in every beverage I order. I also enjoy the healthy menu selection. My only gripe about this girly and adorable coffee/sweet shop is their price point. Sweets, coffee, and other food is a lot more than I am used to paying. If the food were out of this world, I would not complain about the price. However, it was good but not-quite-worth-that-price good. I was going to give this place 3 stars. This place has a nice vibe, but the rest of the experience isn't as good. The coffee is not tasty (and I have tried several types in attempt to find something that is good). The food is average and the entirety of their menu is overpriced. I know that it fits in with the vibe of the Corners of Brookfield (mediocrity with an expensive price tag), but it is still nice to sit in there if you need a place to work, study, or meet friends. I wouldn't recommend Goddess and the Baker if you are looking for quality food/drinks but if you are just looking for a place to lounge that is alright, this is your place. I'm​ vegan so I try to eat dressing that doesn't have​ ​dairy as the base and using the term goddess dressing is very vague​ and doesn't​ describe​ it at all. Every restaurant​ has a different​ recipe​ for their "goddess" dressing and sometimes they are vegan and sometimes they are not. Here's my other beef. You have a restaurant​ that is almost always at full capacity​y and you have TWO single person bathrooms! TWO bathrooms at a place that is always​ full AF that serves coffee so you know the patrons will be pissing up a storm and you think two bathrooms was a good idea. Speaking of capacity​ it is always busy so I suggest grabbing a seat before you order your food or you will have to get it to go or stand to eat​. There are a few times I have walked past towards closing that it's not as busy so if you are not a waiter go an hour before they close and you should be good to go! With everything considered​ it's nice to have a cafe styled restaurant​ in the corners where you can get coffee and work on your computer. The food itself is good enough​ that I keep coming back so take all the other notes for what they are worth. I mean, they do serve glitter coffee and any place that does that is worth checking out! My family and I visited Goddess and the Baker last night for a quick treat after dinner. When I looked this place up today on Yelp I thought for sure they would be getting very good reviews. I was surprised to see that people had complaints! Anyway... our visit was superb. Yes it is expensive, so don't expect it to be McDonalds... but that's why it's in the new fancy "mall" in Brookfield. Still not sure why someone thought it necessary to create another outdoor mall in Wisconsin, but that's to be discussed at another time :) Our order was small. Chai tea latte for me and a huge dinosaur cookie for my daughter. I think for both we paid about $12... again... I was expecting the big price tag. The cookie was delicious. And my daughter surely enjoyed it. My Chai tea latte was just that... nothing extraordinary, but just what I imagined it to be. The decor and ambiance of this place is wonderful. Such unique decorations. It really makes you feel like you are in a cool spot! So anyway end of story - don't listen to all those negative Nancy's posting crappy reviews about this place. Visited Goddess and the Baker on a Monday mid afternoon for some lunch. Their social media was an effective draw to get me there, as the decor is very cute and fun, almost whimsical. There was still quite the line at 2:30, and it was moving pretty slow. I think they were having some sort of issues with one of their registers. When I finally got to order, my interactions were pleasant with the guy working the cash register. I was a little dismayed to find out they don't take cash here - I understand they're a Chicago company, but we are in Brookfield and I don't think it needs to be a hard and fast rule across the board. I ordered the Vietnamese Salad and was impressed by the size. The value is definitely there if you're comparing a Panera salad - Goddess is giving better size and about the same price. It was flavorful and a great mix of ingredients, especially the noodles. I split a lemon bar with my sister, and the only thing that I was disappointed in, was the cost of the bakery items. I understand you're doing some specialty items, but $6 for a cookie is a little steep. I didn't get a chance to try the coffee, as I was already overly caffeinated for the day, but I will definitely be back to check out one of their specialty options. It was a cold day when we visited, but they could also keep it a little bit warmer inside. Also, unsure if this was a one off, but we wanted to work on our laptops and the WiFi connection was terribly slow, so we gave up and left. Came here on a Tuesday morning to study with a handful of my friends and I LOVE THIS PLACE. The interior is super spacious with so many tables and seats, including large tables for groups of table. There is also an open window with a bar for people to sit and face outdoors. The vibe of the place reminded me of so many cafes I used to frequent in San Diego and Los Angeles, I felt like I was back at home. I ordered the iced bourbon praline latte whole milk and less sugar and it was SO GOOD. I inhaled the drink and was so sad that I finished it within like 5 minutes... they ran out of oatmilk today, but I would've gotten the latte with it instead of whole milk but honestly you can never go wrong with an iced latte made with whole milk. I then later got a chicken club with sourdough and a side of fruits and the sandwich was delicious! It was perfectly crunchy, juicy, and warm and it tasted exactly how I imagined the chicken club to taste like. Some people who reviewed complained about the price but LOL...I'm so used to how these trendy cafés charged for drinks and food after being in SoCal and NYC so the price didn't really faze me much. In fact, I came here expecting that what I'm going to pay for is worth the food, and I was glad to find out that the price did match the quality of what I ordered! A couple of downsides tho since I did come here to study--there are no outlets at the big tables, but there is a handful of them at the individual tables and the guest wifi is spotty and slow... we had to smooch off another free wifi that didn't really help much either. Since I was trying to watch webcasted lectures, the bad wifi actually prevented me from doing that and on top of that my laptop died because I couldn't find a free outlet LOL. BUT, on the bright side, there's a completely separate Goddess and the Baker study lounge through a separate entrance next door. The space is awesome with plenty of tables and seats. A few things-in no particular order- If you're looking for the cutest bakery in the world to post pictures on the gram-here's your place. I think they catered specifically to the gram population. However, even if you're not on Instagram you are still sure to love the fun decor inside. I was greeted, yes greeted, by a polite worker handing out menus assuring I knew where to get in line/how it worked. Which to some may seem unnecessary but this place is new, and busy, and I appreciated the guidance and a chance to look at the menu in my own hands. I decided on the avocado toast and a tonic juice and both were delicious! The toast was a thick slice toasted perfectly, with a nice thick layer of avocado, kale and some radishes. The Juice looked straight off of a tropical resort it was so beautiful. They had so many staff members walking around clearing plates, offering to go boxes, cleaning the counters where the trash was, bringing silverware, and in general just being so accommodating. I was eagerly awaiting the opening of this location of GATB after visiting the location at LaSalle and Wacker in Chicago. I think this area of Wisconsin was in desperate need of healthy options and GATB completely fills that void. The service is fast and efficient, especially considering how packed the lunch rush was. I want to give a special shout out to Kris who helped my group find seating and was so friendly. The management even gave us biscotti on the house when they asked us to move in order to accommodate a group. As for the food, we ordered the apple butter oat latte, strawberry matcha latte, kale crunch salad (seasonal), kale salmon salad, avocado toast and the arugula quinoa salad. Everything was amazing! Super fresh and a huge portion, almost all of us took some to go. The salmon was extremely well cooked with great flavor! All of the flavors were on point. We also shared a slice of the oreo cake which was huge and incredibly moist and delicious, not too sweet which i like! Everything is just as cute as it is delicious! Sitting at the Goddess and the Baker transports me back to my California girl roots, which isn't necessarily a bad thing for us young adult, West Coast transplants looking for those Brandy Melville, Lululemon bag-toting vibes. My friends and I come here quite frequently to study as it has an open, airy atmosphere and a great menu to fuel cram cravings. The aesthetic feels a bit out of place for Milwaukee, but as I said before, nothing quite reminds me of home, with large windows allowing ample natural light and a blue-white-gold color scheme creating a cheery space. Several of the seating areas have charging ports; others have comfy booths and lounge chairs. There is also a study area next door to the cafe, which I haven't yet been to but looks like a quieter option for those who prefer less ambient noise. I'm always enticed by the wide array of desserts on display in the bakery case, which is colorful and stocked to the brim with bright and decorated treats. Yes, the cafe reeks of Basic, but what's the harm in that? It's well-designed, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Currently, the menu can be seen by scanning a QR code on the table and placing an order through the virtual site. They have an extensive variety of unique specialty drinks that provide more than just the classic coffees. My favorite drink is the iced Mayan mocha with added whipped cream [$4.99]- it's difficult to get the level of spice right in this drink, but Goddess and the Baker does the best rendition I've had so far in Milwaukee. Iced drinks are served in a lovely beer can glass; I once had the drink accompanied by a complimentary mini almond cake, but this seems inconsistent and I'm unsure as to what dictates whether or not the cake comes with your drink. In any case, the Mayan mocha is positively delicious. I also tried the bourbon praline latte in the past, which was a seasonal drink and also both beautifully presented and crafted. The drinks are definitely great here; I'm not a coffee snob by any means but I've definitely felt their options to be much more to my personal liking compared to other places in town. Goddess and the Baker also has a decently large food menu with both trendy and classic options. The chicken gyro naanwich [$11.99] is just okay- I expected it to be more flavorful and less...wet? The chicken was more like just plain chicken pieces as opposed to chicken gyro as listed on the menu. I get that this isn't a Greek place, but it definitely wasn't what I expected. The fries on the side were delicious, however! I felt similar ambivalence about the buffalo tenders [$11.99], which are served with ranch and choice of side. Objectively there didn't seem to be anything wrong with them, but the taste was just slightly off from what I anticipated. That being said, portions are generous, even if the taste isn't anything to write home about. The desserts are quite good, however! My friends and I tried the carrot cake [$6.99] and creme brulee cheesecake [$6.99], both of which were exquisitely presented and unanimously agreed upon to be fantastic. Hoping to try more of their food and baked good options in the future! Prices for both drinks and food seemed very reasonable for the location, options, and portion sizes (I actually expected both to be more expensive). There isn't much to be said about the service as I've only ever ordered from my table, but staff seems to be considerate, if a bit slow to clean spaces once patrons leave. It's acceptable to relax here for half the day working on some papers or lectures. The place is cute and the food is ok. I went for the smoked salmon bagel. It was pricier than in NYC or Boston. I was offered to chose between a bagel and a croissant. That came with a surcharge on the receipt. That was an expensive $14.99 DIY snack. It came as two small plates. One with the croissant sliced in half and the other with the ingredients. I was still as hungry so I got a small pastry. It looked great and refined. Unfortunately it tasted like a dried out days-old scone with jam in between. Nothing close to a French pastry but that was another $5.99. When we left, a staff ran after us screaming "excuse me, excuse me". We thought we might have forgotten our wallet or something. He explained we had not cleaned our table (our 2 small plates) but that is was "ok" because he would do it for us "this time". We said thank you and left. We then realized that the default tip at the counter was 20% and up. Not sure who collected the tips. We made our own sandwich and apparently you have to clean the tables too without being on the payroll. There are plenty of options at the 4 Corners with full sit down service, better prices, fresher food, and an overall better experience. Brookfield's location is now officially open! A new addition to all the great brunch options we have in town. In case you don't know, this place began in Chicago, and this is the first location in WI (I read soon to open one more around the Third War area) I tried the Huevos Rancheros Tostadas. Similar to the original one, this dish consists of two sunny side up eggs covered with salsa, but instead of soft tortillas, they are served over hard shell tortillas (tostadas). The salsa was not spicy at all, and the sour cream blended with all flavors: chopped tomatoes, onions, beans, and cilantro. My healthy and vegan BF, on the other hand, had the avocado toast, which didn't wow me. The toast wasn't really crispy, and the avocado spread was plain. I was surprised by the Cranberry Quinoa muffin; it was really hearty and soft. I love baked goods, and like them, even more, when they are healthy versions. If you enjoy juicing, they have a juice bar with a few options. We had the Ginger Pineapple Tonic, and we loved it. Not too sweet, ginger not overwhelming, refreshing and beautifully served with little fruit and a flower in a tall glass. During the opening weekend, they had a 2 dollar Pumpkin Maple Latte special. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a coffee to go and it was some of the best breakfast I've had in a while! The inside of Goddess and the Baker is absolutely adorable and totally instagrammable. There's a cute little lounge next door if you want to stay and chill for a while. I can't wait to come back when I'm vaccinated! Neither were sweet, but quality product for sure. I do enjoy a sweeter latte, so if your like me you might want to request added sweetener, other wise everything is more on the bitter side. However bitter should not be confused with nasty. The drinks are very velvety and smooth and other wise tasty. Breakfast is also quite delicious. Another day, another super cute coffee shop. I'm just trying to make my way through Milwaukee one latte at a time. Overall goddess and the baker was super fckn cute; it was so aesthetically pleasing that it made my heart hurt. Although I really liked the vibe, it was not a good study spot. It was just way too freaking busy and all the people made the place really noisy! I had a hard time concentrating on my work. The coffee was delicious though, so I will reserve this spot for catch-ups with my friends. read more

Very good baked goods and coffee drinks. It's a fun place to go. We will be back a lot!

This place when it first opened was amazing. Now the espresso tastes burnt and it's either filled halfway with syrups or just bitter. When you tell them your drink tastes bad you are met with a glare and an annoyed sigh. read more

BIG disappointment . For the prices and other reviews I expected a quality product. 2 Peppermint hot cocos and 2 biscuits with butter and jam-not good. Ended up tossing most of biscuit in trash. No one mentioned that you can have your items warmed--it MIGHT of helped - not sure. Biscuits hard and dry, butter cold chunks with a few cherries in middle. Sooo disappointing,especially served with coco that was just warm enough . No hot in this hot coco. I don't mind paying more if the quality is there. We brought up the problem to the server and he just said can't warm anything after we have tasted it. We did not know till after tasting how unpleasant it was- no comp or any solution to the inferior foo-ugh waste of money . read more

Um. What to say? Different. I feel that the restaurant caters to suburbanite Brookfield Bettys. My friend had a bacon eggs benedict which she enjoyed. But my shakshuka was swimming in oil with extremely overcooked eggs. I couldn't tolerate more than two bites. A little ostentatious for my taste. read more
