Three weeks ago, I ordered online, picked up my pizza, and forgot the Coke I bought at the counter. Totally my fault. I took the loss and moved on. Today, I came in again, picked up my order, and as I was walking out, the cashier (Hazel) called out, "Don't forget your Coke!" I froze. I hadn't said a word about the last time. I asked if there was a note in the system, and they just smiled, tapped their temple, and said they remembered. THREE. WEEKS. LATER. It might seem like a small gesture, but it meant a lot. That moment of kindness, memory, and personal touch is exactly why Godfather's stands out. To the team at Godfather's: please make sure this gets to Hazel's manager. First, rating a dinning or carry-out experience is a subjective thing. What I don't like or find annoying you may love. So take my opinion with a grain of salt. Besides, I'm old enough to remember the days when restaurants offered quality food and a place to sit down and enjoy it with the family. I'm also old enough to remember the Godfather's Pizza of lore from the 70's and 80's, as I also remember the heyday of past greats like Domino's, Pizza Hut, and other franchise pizza greats. All that changed when big corporations bought out these companies and ruined their once great reputations by only caring about the bottom line and offering subpar products. Since I hadn't had a good 'ol Godfathers pizza since the early 80's, back when you could actually sit down in their restaurant, order a hand-tossed pizza, and enjoy a pitcher of ice cold beer, I decided to see what I've missed the last 45 years. I dropped in and ordered a large 1/2 and 1/2 - Classic Combo/All Meat with the butter crust. I was told 20 minutes and it was ready in 20 minutes, impressive! The pizza - I would rate it right up there with all the other mega franchise pizza companies, i.e., Marco's, Domino's, and right on down the line to the bottom of the barrel. The crust tasted like eating a chewy cardboard box with an off-taste like paper. Nothing about that machine preformed crust was enjoyable. I'm not a fan of these premade pizza crusts at all. Even though one side was the Classic Combo and the other All-Meat, you couldn't differentiate between the ingredients. EVEYTHING tasted the same, except for a very offensively strong tasting onion. Nothing taste or smells worse than pre-diced onion from a bag loaded with preservatives. I guess in a situation like this in a strip-mall pizza carry-out joint, you can only expect low-quality franchise supplied toppings anyway. The sauce was terribly sweet and overpowering, and WAY too much used. The cheese was the typical bagged cheese, probably loaded with the usual anti-caking ingredients to keep from sticking together and make it easier to use and handle at the store level. Did I mention the cheese had no flavor whatsoever? But there was plenty of it and covered all the toppings nicely. It looked good! Lastly, the cost. It's expensive. But since part of Godfather's reputation is using a lot of topping on their pizza's, you pay for that. Nothing is free. Better quality ingredients would greatly improve their pizza, but who can afford to pay $50 for a 12" to 14" carry-out pizza? All I can say is the folks that rave about this pizza are too young to have actually experienced the original Godfathers back in the day that offered a really good, high quality product that you could sit down in a restaurant and enjoy. Two stars instead of one for the fast turn time and plenty of toppings - even though it was flavorless. Sorry - I'll take a hard pass on this new 'Godfathers'. read more

I grew up on Godfathers Pizza, and was so pumped to hear they were coming back to CLT. I cruised over to the UNCC area and was surprised to see that this location was carry out only. It's a small waiting area and so I chose to place my order snd wait in my car. I felt bad for the associate there, the phone was ringing, people coming in and out with their orders and they were running the front of the "store" by themselves. The pizza was good, but not as amazing as it was in my younger years. I may try it again, if I am in the area but I probably wont make a special trip just for Godfathers Pizza. read more

Here is the good news. They have mini pizzas that are ok. The bad news is the mini pizzas are the same price as a large pizza at Dominos. And there is more bad news. The wings they gave me smelled like garbage. But their customer service was nice. So they get a star for customer service and a star for having ok pizza. read more

Always great pizza. Their Combo is a fav. One of the best pizza chains in the nation. Wish they would sell them frozen.

I'm a midwesterner. I grew up on this pie. It's a delicious crusty masterpeice. It's nothing like it's nothing like its competition. It's heafty and will fill you up. This is my favorite pizza since high school many years ago. I located a Godfathers Pizza near me and placed an online order to pick up within 3 hours. When I arrived early, I was told they were prepping the pizza and side dish. It arrived a few minutes before it was officially promised. The combination pizza is my favorite of all the offerings and this tasted great. The side was a new pepperoni cheese stick that also had a great flavor with a touch of sweetness. Sigh....had such high hopes after all the hype or Godfathers coming back to town. I remember eating there growing up as a kid, so you can imagine my excitement when found out it was coming back. Such a huge disappointment. I got the number 5 meal deal for an individual. Ordered a supreme pizza, but all I got was ham, tomato and cheese smh. Then I ordered the monkey bread as my side, it was so dry! Definitely needed more cinnamon and icing. I ordered a side of 5 wings since figured might as well try as much as possible while there. They were horrible. Definitely needed to be cooked longer due to the sheer size of them. I got garlic parm and flavor was just ok, felt like they just tossed sauce on after they came out the oven as compared to baking it with it. Idk, whole experience was sad. Only bright spot was the young lady behind the counter, poor thing was working it alone...phone ringing nonstop and customers coming in nonstop, but somehow she kept a smile on her face. So I recently heard about this place when I saw a post on IG. The lines were out the door for the best new pizza in the area. When I was looking to grab a quick bite for dinner recently it came to mind. Ordering online was slightly confusing at first but then pretty easy. Unfortunately the wait was long at 45 mins, which felt even longer because I didn't get the order in before arriving. I had to wait about 10 mins beyond my pickup time for my order but no big deal. Inside there is very limited seating or standing room. The waiting area is really small and I saw a lot of people waiting outside their cars, inside their cars and in front of the building. The staff wasn't the most friendly, but hey - I got my food. About the food - we got a combo with a cheeseburger pizza, custom pizza, garlic Parmesan wings and Thai chili wings. I ate a slice in the car because I was starving. At first glance I thought it looked like I picked up a pizza from Pizza Hut or Papa Johns. I was disappointed that the dough was not handmade. The taste was underwhelming too. It was good fresh out of the oven, but once it cooled down, not so much. I reheated it the next day and felt the same. I don't understand why there's so much hype about the pizza here - or why it costs so much - but I most likely wouldn't return. Even though it's located in a gas station the food is just as good as a stand alone pizza place.

Let me start off with the fact that the pizza was THIRTY DOLLARS. The person who took our order was rude and did not provide a welcoming experience either! We ordered a large thin crust veggie pizza with chicken on half of it and got the smallest "large" pizza I have ever received with chicken on only two out of the eight slices. The veggies were just as underwhelming as the chicken. A veggie pizza should be colorful and well... veggie looking. Not this one! This looked like a freaking cheese pizza. When I first opened the pizza box I was convinced we had the wrong pizza. The fact that I had to FIND the veggies was astonishing. I moved here last week and was hoping to find a nice pizzeria near my area, but this place was definitely not it. I'm better off going to Jet's next time. I wanted to LOVE this pizza! I'm from Ohio, so, Godfather's has been a long time favorite, since my childhood. I was ecstatic when I found it there was one here, and I began to plan my visit. I live in Gastonia, so, it was a little trek to this storefront. The area is nice, so, there's that...and, the service was friendly. I was a little concerned about my order being ready, based on other reviews; however, my order was ready when I arrived -it was hot and fresh. The food...I wanted to love it and made it my last meal of 2022. I'd ordered a small combo pizza with golden crust & extra cheese, a large thin crust veggie, a medium pepperoni w/ golden crust, cheesy bread, and cinnamon monkey bread. The thin crust pizza was perfect, according to my husband. The golden crust is my favorite, and it's supposed to be buttery, a little crispy, a little chewy...My golden crust was spongy and so disappointing. The extra cheese was on point, but the taste was just off. The pepperoni pizza left a lot to be desired when it came to cheese, and that crust, again. I honestly did not try the cheesy bread and monkey bread. I was just so disappointed. I will say that the monkey bread still being on the counter 2 days later would indicate it wasn't great. My 15 year old inhales everything. He ate the rest of the combo pizza and really liked it, so, maybe my expectations were too high? Ugh...I wanted to come to its defense, but, I shan't. I guess I'd suggest it for a thin crust veggie, but definitely not for anyone who loves the crust as much as they love the pizza. I highly doubt that I'd make that trek again. read more

Glad they are back, unfortunately, because they have not been around for over 15 years, they will be overwhelmed for some time. Be patient, its a carry out only location, so they will be busy. Phones are unable to be answered taking orders cause they are all making pizzas. Consider this a sign of more Godfathers to come to charlotte. Excellent pizza, worth the wait. read more

Food is always so good and to die for.... the service is always good as well along with the location isn't bad because the only one I know is the one in Lexington, which is an hour away. But they definitely did their thing on the pizza & their wings too but I don't recommend the potato wedges they taste too fake. read more

My family & decided we wanted God Father's pizza tonight. Tried ordering online for over an hour. Then tried calling for about 2 hrs. No one will answer the phone & online service was turnt off. It was 8:06pm I decided to drive over only to be told they were not accepting any more orders... A few customers besides myself were told the same thing. Such a huge disappointment! Ordered a pie today and was disappointed with the amount of toppings I received. Godfathers is known for an abundant amount of toppings which distinguishes this pizza from the others. I really love Godfathers' Pizza. There is something so harmonious about the "combo" pizza (once you remove the mushrooms!) that is so sublime to me. The sauce, the toppings and how they all contribute to the overall taste is striking to me. This may sound silly but honestly, ever since I was a kid, this combo pizza in particular stroke a chord with me. Charlotte used to have 15 stores. They all went away in the 90's and I'm elated to have once "reasonably" close to me now. I just drove two hours round trip from S.E. Charlotte all the way to university and back. I would love for someone else to open another location closer to me! read more

So I ordered a large 2 topping pizza with monkey bread on Friday night at 6:21. My confirmation said it would be ready at 7:21. I arrived at 7:20 and was told I had to wait an additional 15 minutes ( ok, I'm frustrated, but sometimes things happen) my pizza was not ready until 8:26pm! The pizza was average and that's being generous. Our pizza was over cooked...well burned to a crisp. The manager argued with us and said that's how the pizzas are made here. Wow! The customer service is horrible. It's not worth the lines and the hype. I would never go back. Today is the second or third time we've called at 8:25 to be told they aren't taking orders any more. They close at 9. This is a pregnancy food for my wife. It's the only reason I'll come here. I personally think this place is trash. I was going to grab Chinese rather than eat here. The pizzas are small for the price. Lacks flavor. Definitely not Chicago style, or a bad imitation if it is.
