I remember speaking to the owner a few months ago and he mentioned they were taking over this space to make it a Banh Mi spot. Fast forward to today and it's been open for a bit now. There are some tables next to the register and counter top seating. Dropped in during the early morning hours before work to get the breakfast sandwich deals. I wanted to try the Breakfast Sando which was $7.50. Certain breakfast sandwiches are served from 7-11AM. The staff working was very kind and attentive as he was making my sandwich. Total came out to $8.08 before tip! Great Deal! The "Breakfast Sando" is packed with 2 eggs and THICC cut spam with all the traditional Banh Mi fixings. You can also get sauce in the sandwich or on the side. I opted for the Aji Verde. First bite and upon first sight of opening up the sando, its stacked up! The bread is so crispy, crunchy and flaky and with the combo of spam and eggs its a true breakfast in every bite. I get the Tom's Pastrami banh mi, 1/2 pound, garlic butter spread, gold standard with everything, including pickled Serrano chilies. Then I get aji verde sauce to dip my sandwich in. I've tried it three times. It always delivers. My partner gets the tofu Bahn Mi and she never stops talking about how good it is. I ordered a couple of breakfast sandwiches mid-morning: the Steak and Eggs and Good Morning. I was deeply impressed by the simplicity, yet how delicious both sandwiches are. Happened to find out about this place on TikTok and I am so happy I did. 2 of my best friends live in this area, and while visiting them, my family and I decided to try this out. I already love sandwiches, Banh Mi in particular, so to find something like this was really exciting. Anyways, let's start! The shop itself is inside the Glendora Public Market, which houses a number of other shops (another plus of taking a trip to visit this place). Gold Banh is set up like chipotle where you work your way down the line. What made this place so appetizing right upon my arrival was the man piling up the pastrami to cut spectacularly juicy pieces to pile up (MILE HIGH) on the sandwiches. The other pieces of meat are also in front of him, which also come out fresh fairly regularly, but it really is the pastrami that stands out. Along the line are the rest of the ingredients; vegetables, spreads etc. It worked really well, and though the employees were busy getting orders completed, they were also very nice. The lady who was working the register was kind. I appreciated that. Now the actual food! My family ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches, the pork Char Siu, and the Beef Steak. The Pastrami was A1 and super duper hefty. We definitely could have just gotten away with splitting 1 between 2 people, but we came hungry. My husband and son absolutely loved it. I had also ordered a side of the au jus from the pastrami to dip in, so that was a whole other experience, too. As if it wasn't flavorful enough - that extra dip made it marvelous! *drooling thinking about it* Definitely a 10/10. The BeefSteak was also really good, but not as good as the pastrami. It had really good flavor, and the beef was not too chewy. I rated this a 8/10. Now our least favorite, but still very good, was the Pork Char Siu. It's hard to compare with the flavor on the other two, but it doesn't mean it wasn't good. We rated this a 7/10, just because the other two were its competitors. All in all, we loved this place. I love the Glendora Public Market, and I've been seeing that there is a new restaurant running ads on IG, so I really wanted to try! Gold Banh is amazing for those who like the Bahn Mi style sandwiches, or build your own Spring Rolls. They have several types of meat like Char Sui Pork, Beef Steak, Shrimp, and Spam. Everything I try has amazing flavor. Today we tried the Beef Steak Sandwich with Garlic Bread. The bread is so tasty by itself. They then add several sauces and call it "the Gold Standard" - the only change I make is "no spicy" and that I add pickled onions. Their pickled carrots and daikon are crunchy and fresh, the pickled onions are sweet. The warm sandwich definitely leaves you wanting more. The staff is really friendly, and everything is very clean. If they are behind on orders, they will have you pay and make it in order. This does sometimes take a while. But it is definitely worth the wait. This restaurant is located inside the Glendora Public Market. Surprisingly, the air conditioning is not as strong as I thought it would be during the summer, but that does not discount the incredible quality of the food they serve up. The owner is the same person behind & Broth, so I have to give him a lot of props for doubling down on this marketplace building and creating a spot where people actually want to come and hang out. Tom's Famous Half Pound Pastrami: This is my absolute go to order, and I always get it with everything including serranos. I have had it on both garlic bread and plain bread. To be honest, the flavor profile always comes down to the excellent pastrami, fresh vegetables and the pate and butter. I barely tasted the garlic butter the second time, but it definitely added a lot of flavor to an already flavorful sandwich. I have had this twice now and feel lucky to live close by to get it anytime, as I know people travel from all over to try it. Saigon Banh Mi: This is good and uses Vietnamese deli meat with perfect flavors. However, there are just so many amazing banh mi spots closer to the Rosemead and San Gabriel areas that I probably would not get this again unless I was in desperate need of one. Egg Rolls: These are included with the MySGV passport. Kudos to the owner for his generosity and the story behind MySGV. The egg rolls are surprisingly delicious, and it has been a minute since I noticed water chestnut in a filling, but this place has it. Very good. Lychee Lemonade: This is also included in the MySGV passport, but it is just okay. I am not a big fan of sweet drinks, so it was not anything to write home about, though I think the younger crowd would really enjoy it. My only gripe is that the wait can sometimes be ridiculous. The team occasionally seems short staffed or unsure of how to prioritize orders. Since everything is made fresh right at the counter, I understand why it takes time, but the lines can get extremely long, especially since this sandwich has gone viral. Overall, I love seeing this place thrive and drive business to the area. They have recently expanded their pastrami menu to offer the meat served on rye and prepared in other ways. Their pastrami is genuinely good because there is simply no other place serving it in a thick sliced style similar to Katzs Deli/Langer's. There are many places that serve shaved pastrami, but it is just not the same. I think they are really on to something here, and major kudos to the owner. read more

There aren't too many banh mi options in my area so was looking forward to this one. Inside there's plenty of seating areas and it's a nice open environment. We came on a Wednesday evening around 6pm. There was a line of about 8-10 people, so didn't seem too long. Order taking is easy and the worker was friendly. We got the cold cut and grilled pork banh mi. Both were okay. The baguette was crispy/flaky on the outside, but had a bit of a chew as a whole. Decent amount of ingredients and good flavor. What bothered me was the amount of items that they ran out of on a Wednesday night by 6pm. Out of crispy pork belly, limited on steak and bbq pork, no garlic butter for the baguette, and out of their Mac salad. The sandwiches were good but we didn't get to try our first choices. They do have other items such as their bowls and spring rolls. Those items looked good, but for me - I wouldn't make the drive out for the banh mi sandwiches. read more

The vegetables were fresh and the bread was a little crumbly. The sandwiches come with mustard, pate, pickled veggies and something they call pork jerky. You can pay extra for garlic bread but since this was my first time I chose the original bread. The only thing I was not a fan of was the pate they add to the sandwich.
