First, I've heard amazing things about this place before they opened up in Modesto. I believed they are located in Oakdale, Ripon, and one or two other places. I've had the one in Ripon before it was Gold Dust, previously named Pizza Plus. I'm a pizza addict, so I'm always looking to try a new pizza place especially when they sell slices. I personally love NY style slices and square slices (Golden Boy SF). Once I stepped inside, it was packed and the lady that took my order said it would be about 7 mins because they just put a pie in the oven. I took my slice outside where there are a couple table to enjoy your slice. First glance, it doesn't look very appealing, but I knew they use lots of cheese and are heavy on the toppings. Based off the smell, I knew that this was going to be a solid slice! Of course, it was amazing! The crust was crispy, the sauce is DELICIOUS, and the pepperoni was perfectly crisp. Hands down, great pizza! I only gave them 4 stars based on the price, $4.33 is a little bit pricy but I understand that the cost to operate a business isn't cheap. I just remember getting a slice at the Ripon location for $3 and some change. I'd definitely eat it again, probably the best slice you can get in Modesto! read more

I don't recommend this pizza joint. Ordered a pepperoni pizza & it was a mess. Looked & tasted like a cheese pizza with prosciutto layered over the top, but it tasted like it was uncooked prosciutto. They offer few discounts unless you're a senior or military (thx for your service guys). For $35 I have my choice to try a lot of other places & this is one place I will not go back to. Took my fam here for my son's birthday. We've had great experiences with Gold Dust in Ripon, so we wanted to visit our local parlor. The food was excellent, as expected. I would definitely order from here again. Service was friendly, too. We were offered a deal instead of paying for each item we ordered individually, which saved us some money. Score! The pizza and bread was brought directly to our table. Ambiance was casual with the same classic decore that graces the other location. Gold accents, dark red walls, and Waterhouse paintings. Loved it. This location is quite a bit smaller than Ripon, giving it a really home-y feel. There isn't a lot of seating around tables and the tables barely fit our giant pizza, four sodas, and breadsticks. There is no soda fountain either. Good things to keep in mind. read more

This was our first time trying this pizza spot out for dinner. Friday night 5:30pm and it wasn't too busy so we decided to dine in. We were greeted at the door upon arrival and the staff was very kind. There was a young boy working the counter and he right away asked us how our day was and started to take our order. It was so nice seeing a young kid working (our generation now you don't see that to often so when I do I want to acknowledge how amazing it was to see). We ordered our food and they gave us a 35 min wait time. We sat down enjoyed each other's company for a bit and watched some baseball. About 55 min in and our pizza came out. It was wrong but she corrected it and we waited for our small cheese pizza for the kids. Again very nice, attentive and about this time the entire lobby was slammed. Each employee was very informative to each guest and apologizing for the time but doing their best to get orders out. We had finished our pizza and still about 1hr and 15min in still hadn't got our wings so we asked them to be boxed up Togo. I will say all the food was great quality and the staff were busting their butts. Probably won't dine in on a Friday night again but will definitely be ordering my pizza/wings from here now. Finally! An elite pizza shop in Modesto. We moved here ten years ago and immediately searched for a quality, go-to pizza in Motown. There were a couple that were ok, but nothing elite like what I've had in other cities. I grew up with Dante's and David's pizza in Stockton (amazing pizza if you're ever there definitely check them out). So I was disappointed when we moved to Modesto and the only options were either the mediocre local spots or overpriced and overrated chains like Mountain Mike's or Roundtable. When we found Gold Dust Pizza (formerly Pizza Plus) in Ripon, we immediately knew we found our spot. Gold Dust's pizza is loaded with toppings, quality sauce, crust is thick enough to hold its form on the bottom but not too thick and doughy like Mountain Mike's, but still fluffy with some chew on the outside crust. It's not a thin crust NY or Neapolitan style so if that's what you're looking for then move along. Their spot in Ripon was consistently great and service was always friendly. When I heard they opened a spot in Modesto my family and I were excited that we didn't have to drive all the way to Ripon to enjoy a delicious pie. We had Gold Dust Pizza Express last night for the first time since they opened here and it was just as good as the one in Ripon. Pizza was delivered on time and the delivery driver was very friendly. Tried this location based on the reputation that the ripon location has, I was left waiting for nothing and had to negotiate a refund when I asked 4 times. Was told it would be 20 minutes for a to-go order, sat there waiting for a simple pizza order but got nothing after 40 minutes. restaurant seems committed to only working on to go orders. Extremely frustrating to wait for 40 minutes and to see no one in the building and watching order after order going in the to-go warming bin. I would recommend many other pizza locations that offer better service and room to sit down. read more
