Was we passed by the Cincy area for a road trip, there were so many debates about the best chili place. One of our friends was very adamant against the competitor so we ended up at Gold Star Chili. Menu was a little bit confused but ended up ordering a loaded fries was my entree! It was definitely tasty and even better with the oyster crackers and cheese. I see a lot of bad reviews but I honestly can't complain at all. We ordered online and when we got there a bit early our food was ready and waiting for use. The young lady who helped us was very nice and our food looked good too. Being from NY the chili was definitely different from any I've had but I really liked the flavor and appreciated there were no onions involved. I'll be back, maybe even on the way home. Not my cup of tea. The chili is ok, if you want a fast food type spot for something completely unhealthy and not really delicious this is the stop. It doesn't look super clean but it's the perfect late night stop of sorts. I'm not from the area but I do pass through every once in awhile. Allow me to say how disgusted I am with this restaurant. The individual who was cooking was beyond contemptible on his hygiene practices. And when I complained that the food and/or the/the so-called burger, was, to bite into it. I told him it was the nastiest thing I've ever eaten. And completely not worth $9.00 A simple, basic burger order was also screwed up by the server. By ordering a simple burger with lettuce, tomato onion, pickle, and no special mayonnaise or special sauce, was still wrong. The simplest of jobs in the entire world was screwed up by the incompetence of two individuals who do not give a rats butt about anything except their own lives. The inconvenience of them having to actually go to work, to do a job, for them is nothing but a nuisance in a bother. I also had to pay for this lousy two bites of the worlds. Worst hamburger. The presentation was sad. The burger itself taste like metal flat top the cheese, if you wanna call it cheese was sad. I personally do not recommend this burger or any of their burgers at all. If they're going to stick to one thing, it should be the chili. And that, at best, it's pathetic. No in this location takes pride in their work or their work ethic. The quality of food after the owners are gone is horrendous. I've been eating here since before the new owners. Today I ordered a regular 4 way with onion. More spaghetti than anything, more water than chili and more onions than cheese. The cheapest thing is spaghetti and onions. It cost me $8.19 for spaghetti and onions. I really just needed a place for a potty break on the road and had not planned on eating chili at 10am. However, I was traveling with my parents and they couldn't resist ordering a couple of chili dogs for the road. That could be good or bad for me, right??? LOL!!! The restaurant was conveniently located to the highway with ample parking. it was nice and tidy inside. The lone employee was friendly and spoke as soon as we walked in. I couldn't see myself eating chili so early and decided to not try anything. Mom and dad loved the chili dogs and that says a a lot considering they are fan of the competitor down the street. I went to the restaurant and got food togo, like most people I like my 3 ways with cheese. The shredded cheese from the restaurant. I was not given cheese with my ordered.. So I simply called back to see what could be done, apparently I am the only customer that has called and complained about about like this. Their answer was " Well no one else complains" basically saying ( Shut up and eat your food ) ??? are you kidding me? Decent Gold star location. I use their drive thru at lunch. Try the chili cheese dip supreme, cafe salad with crispy chicken, or the gorito with extra cheese. Must top it off with their sweet tea and maybe even an Oreo milkshake! read more

I don't remember which Gold Star I ate at. But I'm guessing all their chili is roughly the same. Consistency was a little runny and had a lot of oil residue. But the taste was good and had a cinnamon/fiery aftertaste that I really liked. Maybe it's because I like hot sauce on all my food. But once you eat one bowl of chili, you want to eat another right away. Since I did take out, I can't comment on their service or cleanliness at all. read more
