Overall, I'm not impressed. The chicken strips are a soft fry and lightly crisp (barely crunchy), but moist without being greasy. The white gravy is it too thick (like paste) but has a good flavor. It may have been old and on the heater too long. The fried okra was average but not very crunchy or crispy. The rolls have a yummy flavor (like Hawaiian Rolls) and are soft and light... but were cold. The fried chicken leg was Huge! And greasy - more than I like. The cooked batter has darker color than the strips and the same very light crunch. Strange, but the leg was a noticeably saltier compared to the strips, but within an acceptable range. The raspberry lemonade was disgusting. Years ago it was awesome - very sweet and super flavor. Now it's watered down, has a very weak flavor profile, no sweetness, and has a bitterness on the aftertaste. I poured it out and got tea instead. The place was very clean but also very cold. Your food cools down fast because of that. I guess that's why we were the only ones eating inside at 6pm. (But the drive through was steady.) I've found better. I am so disappointed with this location. I used to come here and have amazing food. Lately, the chicken tender pieces are so small they are practically nuggets. They are mostly breading and cooked so poorly, not worth it at all. The sides are bad too! Like they've been sitting around all day, and the fries and okra are soggy or overcooked. This is such a stellar location, but they really ruined it with the horrible quality. I go to canes now, I've had too many recent bad experiences that I'm never coming back. read more

A friend surprised me with lunch, some very yummy fried catfish. As he was driving by this spot on the way to my house he remembered that their catfish was one of my favorite cheat meals. As usual, sooo good. Crispy, yet moist plump filets with well seasoned batter, extra extra tartar sauce, very good fries and that fluffy light Yeast roll for which GC is known. AND, a super jumbo cup of their sweet tea with no ice which is delicious. He had ordered the 3-pc meal but some generous staffer tossed in an extra piece; late afternoon snack to munch on. Disappointed and not going to return to this location. We do GC most weeks. We particularly like the current special with 3 tenders, side, roll & drink but this location is wildly inconsistent. The last 3 visits have been unacceptable. The 3 tenders on both orders were 1/2 size, items were missing from both orders (roll, sauce & utensils). The side salad was nice and actually better than usual but we were overall dissatisfied and won't return. There is a location on Arapaho and also Coit that have been much better and more consistent. We will return to them. Sad that this location which is convenient based on where we drive is off our list. The flavor of the chicken fingers was good (Both regular and spicy) but even after going back through to correct the order it was not made right. Done. They just don't get my money. Still we are big Golden Chick fans. Just know this location has management issues. read more

Only giving two stars bc I always enjoy eating the food once I get it. The service however is very lacking. Workers Yelling and cussing to each-other in front of customers, not greeting anyone coming in until they're ready to take their order, which can be over 5 minutes of awkwardly standing there while they talk to each other. This girl needed to change the signage prices which I totally understand, but she stood on the counter mere inches away from my food that was being placed in a Togo bag with visibly dirty shoes, which is so gross. Couldn't wait five seconds for the other worker to bag my food before standing on the counter? They also didn't wipe it down afterwards which is even grosser. No ice in the machines and always something out of stock you have to ask for and will often have to wait a couple minutes for, like silverware. Such a shame! read more

I used to come to the location all the time, but the last 3 Mondays in a row, I have come for their half price chicken and they've been out of white meat. I can understand if I showed up at the last minute, but this was at like 5:30pm (they don't close until 10pm) - I would have also understood if they asked me to wait while they cook some fresh, but no, they were just completely out of white meat. 3 weeks in a row. So here's another review about the lack of accuracy on To-go orders. Take my advice: Open the bag and count and itemize everything . Our order was missing several items (not discovered until we got home ). When I called the store and asked them to deliver the missing items I was told that they don't deliver. When I asked for a refund on the missing items , I was told that I would have to call corporate to start that process . When the reviews all say the same thing ... the management should take some sort of action to remedy the problem. read more

Arrogant manager, soggy food, suspicious vibes, unfriendly, and incompetent staff. Do anything outside of the norm and you'll get stared down like you're in the wrong neighborhood. Don't order any extra rolls because they will NEVER put it in your order. Especially don't go and ask for what YOU ordered because they'll charge you for $1.50 worth of rolls they never gave you. Been eating at Golden Chick for years. Worst experience so far. Bright side is it's pretty hard to get any worse than this. Higher management should seriously reconsider the managers position. Visited this location years ago and was not to happy. I went today and noticed this location had received a major update to the premises. The inside of the restaurant had been nicely update and was clean. A nice looking patio with shade had been added as well. I was impressed. Order a pack of chicken with two sides and also an order of bone-in wings. The chicken was hot, crispy, and tasty. Well marinated with flavorful breading. The fries were the same. Coleslaw as a bit "meh". May not order that again. I also want to point out that the pieces were LARGE. One breast was more than enough for me and I am a big guy. Weighed a breast and it was 8.7 ounces. That is just over half a pound! This is one complaint I have with other chicken places like Popeyes. Their pieces are so small you need to eat three or four to fill up. Bone-in wings were not traditional. The were more like their regular chicken with some additional spicing. Nice flavor with some kick. Would order again. Maybe there is a "wet" version i could have ordered instead of the dry seasoning I had? Also had some of their boneless which I would pass on. They tasted as if they were breaded offsite. Sort of a chicken nugget style. Service was prompt and friendly. Would buy here again. read more

After waiting almost 20 minutes at Popeyes and leaving, We still wanted a chicken sandwich so we tried Golden Chick...and wished we hadn't. The sandwich had a very funny taste, couldn't be ordered with mayonnaise, and was overpriced at $3.95. It was smaller than Popeyes as well. A small order of fries(about 15 fries) was $2.25 and not worth. I knew there was a reason I hadn't eaten at Golden Chick in a couple of years!! I won't make that mistake again!! read more

We all waited 20 minutes in the drive-through with the inside staff goofing off not even realizing there's a long line and people gave up trapped at the golden chick because there's no way to get out of the fast food line and here we are now almost 30 minutes waiting for these jokers of a staff to finish up a simple order. This was my first and last visit to this location. Food places are still under mostly carryout only during the quarantine, so I used the drive-thru. I ordered the junior catfish combo with a side of mashed potatoes. After paying, I was asked to pull over to a nearby parking space and told that my order would be brought out to me. I did so at 11:36 am, and the car behind me pulled up to the window. The driver and the cashier engaged in conversation which went on for almost the entire 10 minutes that I sat waiting for my order. The driver kept showing the cashier something on her phone and I don't know what the problem was, but I sure felt sorry for the guy behind her in the drive-thru. After 9 minutes of waiting, I hollered to the cashier "I still don't have my order!" He turned to someone behind him, said something, then turned back to me and said they'd be bringing it right out. The guy who brought out my food (at 11:47) stood by my car window a few seconds longer than necessary and it seemed that maybe he was waiting for a tip! I am convinced that my order was ready long before that and just sat on the shelf, because neither the catfish nor the potatoes were even slightly warm. I didn't ask for anything out of the ordinary, so there's no excuse that it took that long. The only reason I gave two stars is that the catfish was tender with good breading. I went to the commercial shoot yesterday. They had wheels that you could spin for prizes. It was 2 minutes until 10:00. The people running the wheel said come over and spin the wheel for a prize! So I did and i won Dallas Stars tickets!! Oh but wait...we can't give you those...it's not 10:00 yet. WTF? Why did you call me over to spin for a prize if you can't give it to me? Not cool! Then the food they were handing out was ice cold with no offers to warm it up or exchange it. Then I sat down at the only table and was asked to move by the staff. Not only did the restaurant not make the substitution; but also, they included copious amounts of the very thing that I asked them to substitute. They did this all without giving me a call. When I called them to ask about it, the person who answered the phone was courteous. However, he could not provide a satisfactory resolution or explain why they did not call me when they could not make the substitution. read more
