I have been ordering from this Golden Chick since i moved here. Whether it be doordash, pickup or dine in. Well tonight my husband and 3 kids decided to doordash an order and almost 20 mins later it tells me the store had cancelled it due to the "store being closed". Looked it up online and said it would be open for another 40 minutes but i told my husband to call just to be sure. We called asked if they were open they said yes. We started this conversation politely, we're not just going to rip into someone for something that could be a complete accident. We just wanted a little clarification on what had happened to our order and if we reorder it would they be able to make it. Then the man on the phone kept asking us how would we get it and how would it be picked up and we were so confused as to why that even mattered. We have doordash, they assign a dasher, it doesn't matter who's going to pick it up!! It then leads up to us getting a little frustrated because our question on if they can make the food or not has STILL not been answered after about a minute of back and forth and him (THE MANAGER ON THE PHONE) telling us "i don't know what you want me to do" over. and over. and OVER again. Finally my husband asks for his name because it was just ridiculous, we asked for someone else to talk to multiple times. He said i don't know to that as well. and then we told him we were going to contact someone higher up because of how UNPROFESSIONAL that location is, he then SCOFFED and said "i don't care, you got your money back". and laughed. Yes we got our money back but now we have to find a different place, and put in our orders before anything else closes because yall cancelled our order for NO REASON. We've never had these issues at this location and for someone to be as rude and CLUELESS as a manager of a restaurant just doesn't look good. Since we never got his name it was a middle aged indian man working on the night of January 30th @10 pm. There are rumors around town about a manager named "Alex" that is well... let's just say i've only ever heard people describe him with bad words so... Do with that what you will. Its hit and miss. I picked up 3/30 @4:32P. The tenders were small and dry. The fries were also inedible. Same with fried okra. The corn nuggets and bread were good. I felt i received lunch left overs that were under a heat lamp for hours. Canes is very consistent. I'll spend my bucks there! I wont be back to this location. read more

Today is 19 of August 2025 I'm saying this because usually the staff makes the food perfectly but today had to be the worst of golden chick I have tasted. Everything was presented well but my chicken sandwich had a spongy bun thick chicken was hard and it was drenched in sauce. Something in it had to be bad because it had a sour smell and taste sour. Here on the first or 2nd day opened. Nice new location. Right of the bat greeted right when we walked in. Customer service was great. Finally decided what we wanted after 6 or 7 min. Got the 20 tenders, 5 rolls pluses two sides and 3 chocolate chip cookies with 2 large drinks. ($50 & change) they asked if I wanted spicy, regular or both. I said both 1/2 of each. Took about 10 minutes. Not bad. Checked our food to see if we had everything and appeared to be good. Until we got home. As I served the family their plates, I noticed that there was no spicy chicken at all. Disappointed . Don't live far but still an inconvenience. So tried calling to let them know but no one answered. Called a couple times but no luck. Anyway 1 minor issue. Not going to kill their star rating since they are new. Overall food, Customer Service, and the place were good. read more

Worst Lunch EVER!! GOLDEN CHICK Custer and Hwy 380 in McKinney: Racism at it's finest: I'm writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment with the treatment I received at the Golden Chick located at Custer and Highway 380 in McKinney. What started as a routine lunch order quickly turned into one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After placing a large order in the drive-thru, the staff member--an older Hispanic gentleman--was rude and dismissive. I chose to let it go until I realized I had been overcharged for six items. When I went inside to resolve the issue and return the items I hadn't ordered, he snatched them out of my hands and told me, "I gave you what you asked for." I explained that I only ordered the Lotta Zing packages, but he responded by grabbing the receipt from me and walking off. Twenty minutes later, he came back and tried to run my card three more times--for $43 each. My bank even called to confirm my card hadn't been stolen. At this point, my coworker (a white woman) came inside to check on me, and he yelled at me, saying: "DO NOT TALK TO OUR CUSTOMERS!" I calmly told him she was with me, and he continued to escalate. Another customer--a Black man--attempted to intervene, and the employee became aggressive toward him as well. A white man behind me in line finally said, "You don't have to scream at her," and the employee responded with an incredibly offensive, racist remark: "Sir, I'm so sorry... you know how these people are." Everyone in the store was shocked and disturbed by what they had just heard. When I asked for the owner's contact information, the employee refused to give it to me. I returned all of the food and drinks and informed him that if he charged my card, I would be returning. This was not just bad service--it was racially charged, aggressive, and completely unacceptable. I will not return to this location as long as that employee is working there, and I strongly encourage Golden Chick's corporate office to investigate this matter seriously. No customer should be treated this way--ever. read more

We order the 8 pc chicken combo $34 plus tax, drive up window. I get home there are 6 pieces in the box, 3 1/2 buns, small containers of coleslaw and smushed up greenbeans. I ordered a family meal and also they have a special for 24 wings and ordered those thru Favor app. We did not receive the wings. The chicken was so dry and hard. We couldn't even eat it. The mashed potatoes and gravy are so blah blah blah. They taste like air. My husband drove down there to get the wings and they are questioning the fact that they forgot to put them in the bag. If I could give a zero I would. Went here for some chicken strips and got nuggets. Paid $45 for a 20 piece nuggets because the strips are the same size. Then the gravy was THICK like paste and lumpy so we had to recook it and smooth it out. Then the poppers were over cooked to burnt. I just drive through the drive through at 3:00 pm to get a 4 piece fried chicken pack. I received no rolls. I asked the employee if the chicken was fresh and he said it was made 12 minutes ago. Maybe 12 hours ago. It was hard and old. The okra was probably at least 6 hours old. Too hard and stale to eat. At the very least this employee working the drive through has an integrity problem. This place will repeat what you order at the drive thru pick up window then hand you the wrong order. They messed up my order so bad , not one item in the bag was right. If I could give negative stars as feeback, I would. DO NOT patronize this 'restaurant'. This location almost never gets an order right. I've had to ask for refunds at least 4 times when they've completely screwed up my order. (It should have been, 3 strikes -- you're out.) Last night was my first official time going to this location. I typically go to the other McKinney location in the opposite direction of me, although it's farther. My experience here was very unpleasant, despite me ordering 30 mins before closing in MY opinion as a customer service worker in all fields that is not an excuse to serve food that isn't fresh. The tenders were dry and the fries tasted like cotton. I also was told my order would come with two zing sauces, and I ordered an extra zing sauce....I only received 1!!! The workers were very nice and polite which I appreciate but I'd much rather be hungry as& WAIT for fresh food than not. read more

I've visited a couple of times this month because I'm a fan of the fried catfish. I ordered the 4-pc and there is always a 7 minute wait which I don't mind. At least I know the fish is being fried fresh! I love a side salad with ranch and a sweet tea. My hubby loves the fried chicken. It's crispy, flavorful and fresh. When I visit my family in Texas I make sure to stop at this particular Golden Chick for my Wicked Wings. Everyone is always very friendly and the food is always delicious and fresh. The service is amazing!! I'm a little over 3 hours away and when I get home to Louisiana my wings are still crispy. If I accidentally pass it I will make a u-turn LOL. I can't wait to come back. I walk into this place. It is dead as a doornail. Even the drive-through is dead, but I think I finally figured out the issue. Why they're dead they don't listen. I ordered three tenders. She asked me for what size I didn't tell her aside. I asked her if there's anyway to have a roll instead of a side, and when I get my meal I get fries in there again something I did not order I did not tell her that I wanted. I asked her for rolls instead when I called her out on it she decides to be rude and pretentious and pretend that I ordered fries and told her I wanted fries but that's not what came out of my mouth again it's a listening problem so she tries to she chose to remedy try to take back the fries I'm not letting her touch my food at this point because I don't truster then she goes fine I'll give you two extra rolls well she just made me pay $1.99 so I could have a total of four rolls when I only needed three rolls, but one comes with the Meal so she forced me to pay $1.99 more than what I should've paid just to get what I was asking for in the first place that would've been technically for free. This place is not worth it. They've lowered the the containers that the container said they use no longer hold the same amount so you're giving you way less food in the process. But they do try to make it up for it by giving you extra chicken tenders whenever they're a little small so I'll give them that. Back to the listening thing it doesn't help that you have people with headphones on covering the drive-through and covering the front desk when you have that you get issues like mine where she hears someone in her headset orders fries and she believes I ordered fries. This is a brand new golden chick probably about 6 to 8 months old maybe closer to a year but I don't think so and they're having the problems of golden chicks that close down already.
