I'm feeling some kind of way about this place. Maybe they are doing something just to say they are doing something. I read the other reviews and it confirm exactly what I experienced. We stood at the door for what felt like 10 mins before being greeted. The hostess was the waitress. No formal greeting no name (I guess rightfully so depending on the hi she is serving, lol iykyk). Food was ok, I may have just been hungry. I'd have to try something else. The price was pricing, needs a tiny bit more adjusting however I quickly realized that most people are going to completely miss the fact that there is a sign on the wall that mentions that an 18% gratuity is already included on all bill unless the party is over a certain number of people. When the bill comes, they don't print the receipt, it's a POS (point of sale) pad. When they had it to you to insert or tap your card, the screen that is presented is another gratuity screen so that they try and get you to double tip. Waitress was visibly upset when I asked her to go back and show me the itemized bill screen and noticed a line item that says "Fees & Surcharge" or some sh!t like that and I asked what was Fee & Surcharge, she said "that's gratuity" in almost a way like, "damn he noticed." Bihh stop trying to get people to double tip! If you come here, don't be so quick to pay. Ask for the print out first before tapping your card because you may inadvertently press 18% unknowingly adding more tip than what's already been assessed. Watch the finesse when you get the bill. The first thing noted upon entry was the amount of time we stood at the front door without being acknowledged. Next, no one came to explain the process of having to scan the QR code to get the menu; luckily my friend had been there before so she knew the process. Now as you can see from the picture everything on my plate looks dry and tasted the same. The turkey sausage looked like it was Johnsonville that had been sitting out for a while. The eggs were dry and had no taste when I added the pepper, which was in a sugar shaker, it caused me to put too much pepper on the eggs believe it or not they still didn't have enough flavor. The salmon croquettes were dry as well and weren't seasoned. When our waitress returned, after we were done with our meal, to ask us if everything was OK I didn't even respond because I didn't want to be a liar. I'll never go back. I don't know if it was the day and time we were there on a Thursday around 12 o'clock or so, but I honestly felt as if we were intruding by being there. I didn't feel welcomed at all. Myself and two others dined at toast it is today and we were beyond disappointed! First, two of us walked in to check in for our reservation. we were greeted with a smile by the hostess. We let her know we were waiting for one other person who was 8 minutes away. she decided that she would go ahead and seat us. Prior to being sat there was what appeared to be a random man dressed in a two-piece black sweat suit and winter cap speaking loudly to move out of the doorway while we wait for our party but we were being seated. Okay. We proceeded to our table. We were approached within about 2 minutes by a person who we later realize was our server asking can I get y'all anything to drink. No hello. No name. We were not ready to order yet. this person came back a few minutes later asking for orders. we ordered drinks we ordered appetizers. The server Richard he said his name was came back a third time within what felt like 5 minutes to now take our food order and we had not received a drink or an appetizer yet. Okay fine. We get our drinks we get our appetizer our friend is here by this time here he comes again. what can I get you all? two of us began to place our orders he begins to walk away after taking two of three orders. I said excuse me our friend would like to order her drinks and potential food. she did so. Moving forward two of our entrees came out one was missing toast however, the third person in our party did not receive her food for a full 40 minutes while the table next to us each ordered the exact same items with a few modifications it's appeared which was catfish in two sides. We approached Richard and let him know that we had not gotten our food yet he looked at whatever device that he puts the order in and walks away. No let me check and see what is going on no I'm sorry no anything. Simply walks away. We then get a manager involved. Once we approach the manager she already knew about the problem stating that well your food takes a bit more time then what the other people ordered. Again no apology no I'm sorry no accountability as to why it has taken 40 minutes to fry catfish. The exact same catfish that the table adjacent from us order and received! 5 minutes later the manager comes out with the entree and says let me know if you want something to drink. it will be on me. Again no I'm sorry about the wait. No I am sorry that your friends food was completely eaten by the time your entree came. This kind of pissed us off at this point we were ready to go ahead and leave. The server Richard came to the table again and asked if we wanted any boxes the third person decides to take her catfish home as we had been sitting there for almost an hour at this point. Richard never brought out any boxes!! He did however bring boxes to the table next to us and they left a box behind. I had to get up and grab that empty box and box our food. I did leave two notes letting the manager and Richard know that they could have done better and a simple apology would have went so much further. We did not ask for any discounts which they did give us a discount of $18.21 off of our over $200 bill I believe. We did not ask for anything free anything to be remade or anything to that nature. We simply wanted accountability accompanied by empathy and an apology which we never got. The service on this day was horrible the food was okay the drinks were subpar at best but again, no complaints. I have noticed restaurants that have an automatic gratuity which I am 100% for because there's a reason for that. I have noticed that most of them that are black owned don't offer the best service as the tip is already included in my opinion. I will never recommend this place simply based on the service.
