I enjoyed the service at Golden Grill. The waitstaff are friendly people and very attentive. I give them 4 Stars. The food, however, was just ok. The coffee was good, but I would've loved to have more of a variation of creamers/milks, and sweeteners. There are so many alternatives on the market that it would be nice to make healthier and tastier choices. I didn't care for the quality of the food, but it was prepared well. It was cool hanging out there listening to the conversations of their regular patrons. It gave the place a homey comfortable feel. I could see why people eat there often.

Classic diner feel. Clean and inviting. Small, but very popular. The food was delicious. Greek omelette, bacon and a pancake. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Service was quick. Waitresses were attentive. Classic neighbors hood diner that becomes a go to restaurant. Definitely will return.

The food is good and extremely reasonable for the price. My salad was huge and would be probably double the price at any other restaurant. Ingredients were fresh and chicken was very tasty. Very satisfied and will be returning!

Visiting Detroit for a concert and wanted breakfast before we headed back home that next morning. We were headed to Original Pancake house but arrived to a long wait and decided to find something else in the area. I'm so glad we decided to try Golden Grill. The ladies at Golden Grill were so sweet and attentive, in a very genuine way. The food was delicious, timely, and for a reasonable price. I'm always down for supporting local/family owned businesses and would return again if in the area.

My first visit since 2017 ... and this tiny restaurant (FKA: Nip & Tuck) is continuing to serve great breakfast. They are a terrific value. The waitress said that the make their own corned beef for the corned beef skillet. The corned beef was sliced deli thin. I was hoping for pulled/shredded, but that is a nit that I will not pick. Two large eggs scrambled, over a bed of shredded potatoes, onion, corned beef and cheese. I added a splash of Frank's ... They offered the usual selection of toast ... or a homemade biscuit. The biscuit was large, light and served warm with butter and honey. I will definitely order the biscuit again. Danielle was my server. She was prompt, knowledgeable and attentive without being obsequious. The dining room is tiny. There is an outdoor area that might accommodate two small 4-tops once we get to the warmer months. The dining room and restroom were clean. Will I return? Absolutely, yes.

Significantly smaller than I had expected. Seems like half is dine in & the other half is the kitchen separated vertically down the building by a wall. Irish benny: sounded appealing but the execution wasn't as expected. Corned beef was sliced like canadian ham, except thinner. Tough to cut even w/ the steak knife provided and equally rubbery/chewy. Opted out of hash browns, & got a bowl of fruit. Chocolate french toast was filled with a chocolat gnache. I really enjoyed this dish. No whip cream bc i dont like it and strawberries on the side instead of topped. Small but busy, so i'm assuming that was the reason for the delay in taking my order & food being just a touch above room temp. Melody was very nice & welcoming! She even comforted a child acting out so her Mom could get a couple of worryfree & uninterrupted bites.

Had lunch here with a friend under their suggestion and I was not impressed. The driveway to the parking lot is incredibly narrow which made it a pain to get into while other customers are leaving. Upon entering, I realized it was very small, but the booths are comfy. Very fast service! The menu descriptions leave a lot to be desired but they have a wide variety to choose from. I ordered the Stuffed French toast and was super disappointed. It was basic French toast with a little layer of something in between. I'd try it again in a pinch.

Not even that much corned beef for the $5 upcharge, as it's sitting on turkey and the rest of the salad.

This unassuming small diner provided excellent food and service. I was honestly blown away by how on point everyone's food was. We had the greek chicken wrap, breakfast burrito, the pablo and kids' pancakes. Highly recommended. read more

Maybe my experience was a total fluke, but this tops my worst post-Covid dining experience ! Showed up at 1:45 for a quick hangout with my friend from out of town. The waitress we had was super friendly, kind, and apologetic. So here it is: 1. Table was dirty when we sat down, but waitress promptly cleaned it up. However, the damp bleach smell on the table is the last thing you want before eating. 2. The glass of water I was given was DIRTY. There were still lip prints on the rim... so gross! 3. Ordered the Michigan cherry salad. My plate arrived and when I looked down, I saw a salad covered in raisins. To be sure, I ate one and had my friend check to make sure I wasn't mistaken. RAISINS are not cherries. Sent back the salad. Personally, it looked like they knew Bc I caught the young male chef peeking around the corner. The whole experience was actually quite awful. I ended up eating dry hash browns with spinach and mushrooms. The good: Food is super cheap...but maybe that correlates to quality. read more

They just opened up in my neighborhood and they're good. We went for breakfast. It's a small little diner that has booths and tables that sits four. It did seemed cramped with all the traffic from people and waitresses. PRO: The food was good and fresh. They're hash brown's are so yummy and the toast is smaller than the average but I liked it because it was burnt. I also got scrambled eggs which were generic. CON: My kids got pancakes and honestly, you can get better pancakes from McDonald's. Also, the waitresses - for it being so tiny, we're not really attentive. We sat waiting for our coffee to be refilled and once it was, the waitress spilled some in the table and didn't even care to clean it up. She just poured and went. The prices were reasonable as well. It wasn't too extreme and they had meals for $3. Overall, we'd come back again. I love supporting small businesses and I hope success on them! read more

Ate here this morning for the first time...well got carry out of course due to Covid restrictions. The food was amazing. Portion was big, food was hot and fresh, and delicious. First time here and will definitely return soon. Place was packed on Sunday. Breakfast was really good. My spinach and feta omelette was made with fresh spinach and lots of feta. The Mediterranean skillet was so filling. Prices are very reasonable. The staff kept my water and coffee filled the entire time.I need to try this place for lunch. read more

Our favorite local place. Family owned and operated and we love the wait staff who knows their customers well! Always greeted with a smile and food is fresh and delish. Brought a couple friends here who were quite impressed as well. Avocado toast with goat cheese is a treat, wonderful chicken to top a salad, tuna is real, lol! I love the Golden Grill! I work less than a half mile from the diner, so it's my go-to for lunch. It checks literally all the boxes - fast, cheap & good!! While the inside is small, I've never not gotten a table. The servers are friendly and fast, you can easily be in and out in 30-40 minutes for lunch if needed. They have a typical 'coney menu' - everything from breakfast to lunch, soup to salad. Nothing I've ordered has been anything short of delicious and anyone I've dined with has said the same. I literally don't think you can go wrong no matter what you order. My favorites are the Russian Rueben, corned beef hash, chicken strip pita or the gyro. read more

My son and I were in town for CCM Motown hockey tourney and staying at the Southfield Westin. We wanted breakfast prior to heading to the rink and Golden Grill did not disappoint. Food was terrific (homemade) and the staff was very friendly - service with a smile! We would recommend to anyone in the area. read more

The owners/cooks are not very friendly. I have heard the cooks yell at customer's when they complained. They ran my credit card twice and I had to go thru hell to get them to credit me. I gave them solid biz during the pandemic, so after that incident, just got dirty looks from them. Done with them. read more

Just went this morning for the first time. I pass it pretty often and it looks nice from the outside. Got parking spot, and a table quickly. That always helps. Really good brunch/breakfast menu. After Reading Mostly good reviews I decided to visit Nip n Tuck 2.0 I was not Disappointed ! I ordered their special #4, 2 eggs, 2 meat, hashbrowns and toast for 4 bucks. It could not have been better. My over medium eggs were cooked perfectly The Ham though relatively small in portion was absolutely delicious, moist and tender, the Hashbrowns were top notch as well. The Toast was toast but the jelly selection was the Good stuff not the budget stuff you so often find in smaller eateries. Five Stars all the way! I'll be back ! read more

All the positive reviews here are spot on. Affordable, quick and friendly service, all your basic breakfast and lunch items you'd fine at a coney island/breakfast joint and then some. We've been twice, and this most recent time the SO got the crab cake benedict with a coffee. Were they Beverly Hills Grill quality? No, but for under $10 it was solid size portion, and the eggs were poached perfectly. Hollandaise was probably a mix, but like I said, very passable and filling. On this visit, our friend and I got the avocado toast. The avocado slided, not mashed, but very well presented sliced, with delicious goat cheese, and a side of eggs, any style. We both did wheat toast (it's healthier, right?), but it normally goes on challah which looked impressive when we saw orders being delivered to other tables. The quality of this meal was comparable to any restaurant that would charge 50% more in Ferndale/Royal Oak. Pro Tip: On our first visit, we got breakfast that came with a side of toast. Like many coney island/breakfast joints, they slather on a butter flavored oil. Instead, ask for your toast "dry", and use the real butter packets provided on the table. We'll def be back - a solid, friendly and affordable breakfast in Berkley =) read more

First time here and we'll be back soon. I was surprised to learn they'd been open just 3 weeks. We sat at the two seats at the short bar between the register and the pickup window -- right in the middle of the action. I was impressed by the efficiency, team work, and friendliness of the Golden Grill even before our food arrived. We had the Veggie Skillet and the Country Skillet and both were excellent. I asked if the have WiFi and the do; the password is on a blackboard by the front door. read more

Replacing Nip Tuck was a Herculean task but this place has managed to carve out its own legacy while preserving the magic of its predecessor. Best Greek salad in the area Best breakfast specials with the cheapest price point t The soups change daily and are continuously excellent. Last but not least, the Golden Grill Pita. Absolutely mindblowing. This place can be difficult to find on 11 mile (between Coolidge and Greenfield) but is absolutely worth it. read more

WOW! Went here for a late lunch. Lunch specials were surprisingly affordable, and the food was really good. In fact, looking at their carry-out menu, nothing was more than $8! I had a really good veal parm with spaghetti, which came with soup or salad, for only $7. This is one place I plan to visit again and again! read more

I also had the torta which was absolutely incredible. It had the same chicken as the taco. The chicken was slow cooked or stewed and shredded and was so flavorful, like a homecooked chef's kiss. The bread was fresh. I loved the sauce poured over it, making it a dipped and soaked sandwich. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. I am open to trying more of their group but I do want to return here. This is one of those diners you would find being profiled for best kept secret or gourmet home cooked foods under the guise of fast food.
