I really enjoy this place. The Chinese food is authentic and sooooo good. They have great prices as well.

Hostess or owner and waitstaff very impolite (Agree with Arianne N). Food is palatable if you are really hungry. I prefer other restaurants in the area with honestly better food. Since I am Asian have owned my own restaurant and been trained 5 star. I would rate this below average. I have talked to the owner and got snubbed. I do not patronize the establishment anymore. MANY times have totally enjoyed the noon DimSum the variety on Sundays is a treat , roast duck(my favorite) .Weekdays is less variety . I'm giving this place 5 stars because it's the best Chinese restaurant in the Detroit metro area. I wouldn't call it a 5 star restaurant overall. The restaurant is huge but it's not very nice at all inside, if you care about that. The atmosphere in there sucks. The food, however, is fantastic. There are a few things that you HAVE to try if you. Golden Harvest has superb spicy calamari, the best I've ever had. You have to eat it there because it's important that you see how crispy and perfectly cooked it is. I doubt you'll get that with a takeout order. Ask for hot chili oil for dipping when you order it. Out of this world. Another must is the hot and sour soup. There are a few places that have great hot and sour (PF Chang's is one), but this is also the best in the area. The third and final must is this oyster and green onion dish. It's oysters sauteed in a sauce with green onions and served over rice. I'm not sure what it's called on the menu. I've never ordered any americanized items, only from the authentic menu. But I would bet that their American cheapo chinese is very good as well. Stopped in on Saturday the food and the servers were great, neat and clean. Its hard to spot off of 12 mile so keep a sharp eye. Love the hostess she was just wonderful!!! My new favorite, you wont go away hungry. read more

The food here is absolutely top notch. We sampled a fair bit of the Dim Sum menu, and there was nothing there that we didn't like. Even on Christmas Day with a fully packed house, the service was excellent. Truly the best Chinese food I've ever eaten! read more

I give it a 2 star bc ive been there once where the food was decent. But it seems that every other time ive been there the foods been terrible and the service, horrendous! I went there today and there was only 4 tables but took them 40 mins to get our dishes out. Not only that, I order the "Assorted meats and seafood hotpot" and 90% of it was fried tofu. I literally only rec'd 2 pieces of shrimp, 3 pieces of squid and 3 pieces of chicken n small bits and piecea of roast pork. Not only that, it wasnt even hot when they brougjt it out to me. Which means that it was probably sitting for a while. Its a HIT or MISS with the food. Also, the cleaniness of the place was horrible. Little and big flies were flying around our table the entore night. Had to keep swatting them away all night. And there was vomit on their toilet. Disgusting read more

We had carry out from this place a while ago and was not impressed. However, we thought that we'd try the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was the worst experience I have had in my life. We were seated got our drinks and put in an order for crab rangoon which was cold and not good at all. We finished the rangoon and I had to flag down the waitress to put in our order of combo plates, simple, non-complicated combo's. We received our soup (which the waitress got wrong but we said it was fine...), than, we waited and waited and waited; all the while 3 other tables that came in after us received their main dishes. We never got our egg rolls and the waitress rarely looked our way. My husband and I got up, threw $5 towards the table and walked out. We'll never be back!!! read more

Our first try was tonight. We ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce combo, the Orange Chicken combo, and Beef Egg Foo Young. This was THE worst alleged Chinese food we have EVER eaten. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce tasted OK, but what was off about it though was the fact that it was more of a ginger and black bean sauce. There were zillions of black beans in it. The alleged fried rice was HORRIBLE. It was dried out and flavorless. It tasted like they made a giant batch of it days ago, and just kept heating portions in the microwave for customers. The egg rolls were a damned shame. Overcooked, and the inside looked like it had spoiled vegetables in them. The Orange Chicken was bad as well. The chicken was not seasoned at all, not even the breading on the pieces were seasoned. They had the nerve to saute' the chicken pieces with exactly one tablespoon of orange sauce, hell, we're not even sure it was orange sauce. The Egg Foo Young was HORRENDOUS!!! The patties were bland, greasy and disgusting. The gravy was obviously flour based AND lumpy as hell. The white rice that came with it was overcooked, and obviously sat in the steamer for hours on end. We're not even sure that it was Jasmine rice. Overall, the skunk that got run over on 12 Mile Road right outside of the restaurant, had a better night than we did. CHALLENGE FAIL!!!!! read more

Been here a few times before for lunch, dim sum, and dinner experiences. This last time however will be the final visit. We arrived for an early dinner. Walked in and the place smelled like an OLD aquarium fish store - that's a first! We sat down and ordered up the two plate $20 some special. We chose the spicy salty shrimp (like always) and I wanted to have pork belly so I ordered up the spicy pork belly dish. The waitress informed me that the spicy pork belly was a cold dish and recommended the pork belly with sauce as the hot dish. I ordered that. The food came out and the shrimp looked good - as it always does. About half of the shrimp were under cooked (for us) though as when we bit into some the juices in the head section dribbled out. We were super surprised when the "pork belly" dish came out. It was pork stomach! Uh, no thanks. I had a little and that was enough for me. I didn't want them bringing it back and making something else for me so I just told my wife that we'll just finish up the shrimp and rice. The waitress came over with our bill and saw that we didn't eat the pork stomach. We explained that we thought it was going to be the real pork belly - not pork stomach. She insisted that what they had was indeed pork belly - uh, no. Anyways, we paid and left and as we were walking out, again the overwhelming smell of old aquarium fish store punched us in the face. Working across the street so the crew ordered carry out, everyone loved their meal. I had the Kung Pao Chicken with Shrimp Fried rice and and egg roll. Great Kung Pao, the Shrimp Fried rice had some nice sized shrimp, not those little tiny ones you usually get. Only knock was on the egg rolls they were a little over cooked for me. This is my family's Macomb County go to place for Chinese. The food is usually good and sometimes great. The restaurant looks like it was located in what used to be a banquet hall/business building before being repurposed to be a restaurant but it is nice inside. You can easily overshoot the entrance because it does not look like a traditional Chinese restaurant, the parking, is in the back of the building as is the parking lot for a limousine service.. Once inside you'll see the dining areas usually the one to the left is open. This review is for Saturday night 3/14/15. Got there around 7pm . The place was fairly empty. More people started coming in as we were finishing up. The tables that were occupied were occupied by oriental families. Received one menu. It seemed limited. One of us wanted Almond Boneless chicken. The waitress brought a combination menu. Almond Boneless chicken was on it and other familiar dishes. A friend is a vegetarian and was trying to find vegetation entries, the waitress did not seem to understand English well gave partial answers. Then a lady in a supervisory position came by and was very helpful asking my friend what she wanted and what she liked and she adapted a dish to meet her specifications. Nice customer service. The Almond Boneless chicken which is usually very good here had a very bland gravy. Two people had General Tso Chicken - it was very tasty. The vegetarian dish was good. The portions were large. I can get better chinese food at fricking strip mall carry out! Utterly disgusting food. Ordered through wok2you. We usually order from Lim's in Sterling Heights, but they are closed on Mondays. I should have taken pictures before I threw it out this morning. $60 for flavorless food. We ordered four dishes. The shredded garlic pork, pork egg foo young, steak kow, gai kow. Three tasted as if they were all cooked together and there was hardly any meat. My husband took one bite of the pork egg foo young and threw out the rest. He said the meat was hard and grisly. We are not picky people, we just like good food :) This place is horrible. I complained to wok2you and they just said "oh we will put down no Golden Harvest for you". Awesome comfort food, very sweet servers, tables always feel like they need wiping down... Patrons are rude to other patrons. Management/owners allow a rude, intimidating atmosphere. No food is worth the atmosphere here, no matter how good it is. read more

I was looking forward to going to this Dim Sum, hoping it would compare to those in Windsor but it was a big disappointment. First off, each dish is suppose to be $2.30 no matter what it is or what size. I had 3 dishes, and order a large broccoli dish not on the menu. My bill was $29.00, I was totally ripped off. The cashier offered me coupons, and then acted like she couldn't understand my English. She said my broccoli was $9.95 and then attempted to make an adjustment. Watch your bill. Just because your menu is in Chinese does not give you the right to over charge or rip off your customers. This is America and what you did was illegal. read more

What happened to this restaurant? At one time Asians & Pacific Islanders crowded this restaurant during weekend dim sum hours. Our family raved about Golden Harvest in the past. Now I would discourage going to this restaurant. New cook(s), owners, management- what is the problem. Worst of all the dining area looks VERY unsanitary. Golden Harvest better make positive changes sooner rather than later or I do not see this restaurant maintaining business. Until they improve I strongly suggest anyone seeking out Chinese dim sum to dine at Sakura on 16 Mile & Rochester Road. Clean dining area, quick turnover in food brought out (always hot and fresh), great presentation, place is always packed with Asians and Pacific Islanders during weekend dim sum hours. A clear sign of great food being served. Slight language barrier with some staff but worth the authentic and plentiful dim sum cuisine in a clean and organized setting. read more

There are not that many Dim Sum places around the area. I would say as one of the few dim sum places in Warren/Sterling height/Madison area..this dim sum place is actually pretty good considering it is in Michigan. The place is kinda dim..the place is not so clean..i am not sure how often they really clean their chairs and the area......I would recommend people to come early on Saturday for discounted price..The price is reasonable...service is alright..there is usually no wait even on the weekend. read more

I like the food here so I'll give it three stars. The owner/manager at the front is always nice and takes care of customers right away. i will take away two stars because while I was having lunch with my friend (who is chinese), one of the waitresses rudely assumed she wasn't chinese because my friend didn't respond to her. now that's a bit ridiculous. also, while we were packing up our food, our waitress suggested not to put some food in the box because it would "get soggy." I don't think her opinion is necessary on what food I want to bring home. read more

To start off, Golden Harvest is an authentic Chinese restaurant, not an American-Chinese restaurant. That means that the menu will look a little strange to Americans. Instead of Almond Chicken and Sesame Chicken, its Eggplant Hotpot and fresh Tilapia. I've been going to Golden Harvest since I was 3 years old at their old location and now their current location. The whole restaurant is really nice. Every employee is really nice. It feels like home when I'm there. My favorite dish would be the soft shell crabs and the 3 different kinds of seafood in salt and pepper. I'm not sure what the dish's names are since the waitresses know my orders by heart. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking to try authentic Chinese food. read more

My husband and I were trying to decided on what to eat after church this evening and decided to have Chinese, He mentioned Golden Harvest and since it is very close to home we tried it out. It was a very enjoyable meal. Husband had beef in oryster sauce, it had a generous portion of beef and lots of mushrooms, pea pods and carrots. It was very tasty. As for myself I had the Shrimp Lo mein, just thinking about it made me go YUM! The people that work there were all very kind and helpful. Pricing was a little high But the food was well worth the price. We will eat there again. read more

I used there catering service for my wedding reception and received complaints from just about everyone (family, friends, and guests), and we had about 250 guests. 1) the fish maw w/ crab soup was water down with little fish/crabmeat/seafood, there were no greens and garnishes making the dish presentation looks very bland and boring) 2) the beef lo mein dish was overcooked, noodles were soft and broken up 3) the seafood mix with vegetables stir fry did not have the specific veggies we requested and agreed to 4) the food was brought out in different order then what we agreed to and the menu displayed on guests table 5) there were no soy sauce/siracha provided as agreed to 6) the food platings presentation was very poor and boring looking, there were no garnishes and greens as agreed 7) the last course was watermelon slices, and some tables got only 3 slices for a table with 10 people -- seriously?? 8) the food portion for each dish was same portion as served at the restaurant, leaving each dish short of food for our guests, leaving our guests going home hungry. With the 9 dinner course planned, there should have been plenty of food for guests to eat and take home (especially when the caterer wanted to charge us for 300 guests, when we only had about 250 attended). I met with Kelly the owner of the restaurant on 7/5 and provided the feedback received from guests, and she mentioned that she had to take food back to the restaurants (i.e: soup). I was just astound when she said that because our guests did not have enough to eat and here she goes and take food back! It was agreed that any left over food is to be put in a to go container for guests to take home. To find out that there was another wedding she was catering the following day, perhaps thats where the leftover food was used for? Either way, this caterer was a huge disappointment for both the groom and bride's family. Having to hear that our 75 yr old grandmother did not have enough to eat was heartbreaking and having to explained to our guests about the food service was an embarrassment for both sides of our family. My advice to those considering this restaurant as their caterer for their big wedding day is to hire someone to supervise the food service and plating so that you dont go through the same experience we did. And good luck to you if you do choose this caterer and hopefully they will be more honest with you. read more

So we went on a wednesday night for a carry out. They were open late and we had never eaten there, well guess what we won't eat there again. The food was insanely over priced. The won ton soup a quart had maybe 2 dumplings and the rest was lettuce(mind you its supposed to be cabbage) and tasted like they put warm water in the cup, no flavor at all. We asked her if she had pancit she said not exactly but something close convinced us to try it and it was the furthest thing from what pancit is supposed to be. The fried rice and the noodles tasted like they were soaked in vegetable oil. On top of the food being horrible 2 out of the 4 of us were sick that night and the next day from everything. Everyone has their favorite chinese food resteraunt I understand but this is overall the worst chinese food and experience I have had in a long time. I don't normally complain but I felt this terrible experience warranted it. read more
