Food: The food was solid and a fun experience for us. I've never had dim sum before and always wanted to try it, so we ordered a mix of five items to share. Everything tasted fresh and comforting, and nothing was spicy. The tea was also really good. When the cart came around, though... I had no idea what to do or what half the dishes were! Service: The staff was nice and. That said, since we were clearly first timers, I would've loved a little guidance. Even just a quick "these are popular" or "this one's pork, this one's shrimp" would have gone a long way. Ambiance: It's a corner plaza spot and nothing about the space really stood out. Surprisingly, we found traditional Dim Sum in Mad Heights. It's a great big room with a few tables/chairs scattered about. We arrived during a lull in business, so it was no problem to seat six. Like I mentioned, there's a traditional cart or you can request something. There is also a menu available, upon request, for the family Szechuan and Cantonese dishes. You could easily thrive off the carts. They're frequent and well packed. In our three visits we have noticed taste inconsistencies in various items. This may matter to some folks. I enjoyed every item I sampled. It must be a newer place, clean right down to the restrooms. Plenty of parking available and conveniently located. I'm sure we'll be back often. 10/25 read more

There aren't many places like Kung Fu Noodle House in metro Detroit for a traditional dim sum experience. I came with a large group; it is the best way to try dim sum so you can share many dishes. It turned out to be an amazing deal with each person at my table paying less than $30 including tip. The dishes themselves weren't the pinnacle of Chinese cuisine but it was Cantonese comfort food that I had not eaten in a long time. If you are craving dim sum this is the place to visit. read more

My first time visit to Kung Fu far exceeded my expectations. I was in town on a work trip and decided to come try their dim sum menu. I arrived around 7pm and the restaurant was empty. I didn't see the cart but completely fine with that since all my dim sum orders were made fresh. The carts have a tendency to have food keeping warm in their bamboo carriers. All that said my dim sum was so delicious. Very Cantonese style and what I've been accustomed to. The server Marshall was so friendly and offered many suggestions of what to order and also let me know what was no longer available. Marshall was kind enough to make me a half order of the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce since I was eating alone I didn't want too much food. They are very accommodating! It's been a long time since I've had really good Cantonese style dim sum and I'm so glad I found it here in Madison Heights MI of all places. 5 stars for food and service. I've been looking for a place that serves Dim Sum for a couple of years and while they appear to be rare, Kung Fu Noodle House does it as similar to back home (San Francisco) as I've been able to find/try. They have all the classics, shrimp dumpling (虾饺) , sui mai (烧卖), chicken feet (豉汁凤爪), egg tart (蛋挞)...etc. Talked to the owner and apparently they came from Hong Kong 25 years ago. Went to Kung Fu Noodle House, and it felt like this small hole in the wall. We went for dinner and it was empty -- like truly we wrestled the only people in the establishment. With that being said, the service was still quite quick. We got a variety of dishes - everything was pretty flavorful, however everything was a bit too oily. The scallion pancakes needed the sauce, but the oil coated my mouth so it was hard to appreciate it! The sticky rice in the lotus leaf was good, and there was quite a bit of filling, I would recommend adding some sauce to it as it was a bit dry. The sesame chicken was a little crispy and coated in sauce but it was a little sweet for my liking. Overall, I would be curious to see what just their dim sum would be like. read more

They change the owner or something. Now they have Dim sum. About $5 a plate. They still serve regular Chinese food also with a different menu. Dim sum is pretty good, not greasy, not too much msg. Pretty standard. Good thing is that there is not a lot of people. Maybe because of the location, so you don't have to wait like other Dim sum restaurant in metro Detroit. They probably get it from the same supplier anyway. I doubt they make everything in house. Good service, the servers are nice. First time coming to Kung Fu Noodle House since they changed ownership. Everything interior looks pretty much the same, but the menu changed. Now they included dim sum and more Cantonese food. Overall mediocre experience. Portions are very small. 夫妻肺片 tasted like they just unfroze it, still watery and not fresh. Probably the worst I've had. Yet cost $12.99. Wonton tasted fine for my kid. Doesn't seem worth it for $10 though. The beef stew was good but $25.99. Beef on the tougher and chewier side. Also got a fish dish (青花椒鱼）that was $19.99 (not pictured). Few pieces of fish fillet. Taste was good but still not worth it. Service was ok. It's was day 1 of work for our waitress so not the most helpful. Overall would not return. The next time I came we had the two dishes in the pictures. The fried rice was good. The noodles were not what I was expecting. Take out 6/5/23. Mao's pork and Red Curry - beef, Med spice, hand made noodle. This place delivers consistent, authentic, good quality Szechuan cuisine. Both dishes were superb. Mao's pork was thick, fatty and decadent and exactly what I wanted at the time. It was delicious and satisfied a craving for sure. The red curry was a wonderful blend of flavor and spice. I've tried this place a few times now and it is SOLID Chinese food in the Metro Detroit area. The staff is super friendly, I had a big order (which they actually got ready for us quickly), so they sat us down and served us tea. They also don't mind customizations which is rare. My fav dishes were the veggie chow fun (note it is served with egg but can order without), eggplant in garlic, dry fried green beans, chow mein in soy sauce; their dim sum is pretty decent too. Coming from California and growing up in the San Gabriel Valley (one of the largest concentrations of Asian Americans in the continental United States) and living in the San Francisco Bay Area (also another area with a large of Asian Americans), it is very easy to get spoiled with the immense amount of Asian cuisine available to us. And dim sum is one of those dying meals because it's laborious and the dim sum chefs are getting older and older and not enough younger people are learning the craft. If there are, then they'd likely be from China. By the way, this review is solely based off of my dim sum experience. Dim sum is just one of those comfort foods I grew up and it was a family past time. Once in Michigan, the desire for childhood comfort surges. I randomly found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. i was too lazy to drive to Royal Palace of Troy in Troy. The name is confusing because it has "Noodle House" in its name. They really should change the name. Anyways, it's a much smaller place than Royal Palace and the pricing is similar. I was taken aback by the taste. It doesn't necessarily beat the tastes in California, but it comes close that it brings much comfort. Another thing that brings comfort is how un-overpriced it is unlike California, which has become very expensive and destroyed the past time for me and my family. Despite being a small place, they still push dim sum carts around. Some ideas need to be special ordered. Regardless if you want to taste dim sum for comfort or to try it out the first time, then you should give this place a try if you're too lazy to go to Troy. read more

My stomach was letting me know quite vocally that I was well beyond time to eat. I had the spicy cold chicken, I enjoyed this, it had bold flavors, it could have been spicier, but it had a nice balance of tanginess from the black vinegar. I also had the red curry shrimp. The hand pulled noodles were decent but the curry was terrible. The shrimp were so mushy they were literally disintegrating, I thought I was going to get food poisoning with one bite. The bbq pork buns are soon fluffy they are my favorite even if i have frozen ones at home. We came back within a week of discovering this place. There's a lot of noodle house, but not many that specifically serves the spicy sweet potato glass noodle bow and this is the nearest place I could find. Huge portions for pretty good price. I dined here when it was strictly Kung Fu Noodle House (previous owner). Today was my second time visiting but under new ownership and change of menu. Dim sum is offered all day along (which was my main reason for returning). There is also a large separate menu of very authentic Chinese dishes. For those familiar, they offer the amazingly delicious squirrel fish!! Saw another group order and it looked just as good as I've had at Trizest Chinese restaurant (another amazing restaurant you MUST try!) We only ordered Dim Sum today. We were more than happy and left full with leftovers. If you are familiar with Dim Sum fare, the selections are as expected. The shu mai was the best I've had. The stuffed bean curd was crisp and cooked perfectly. A new dim sum item I have never heard of before was the steamed walnut bun. You HAVE to try it. A unique and amazing dessert that goes perfectly with oolong tea (we were offered 3 different choices when ordering a pot of tea). If you like pecan pie, I bet you'll love this item. Pricing for dim sum plates is exactly as expected. Flavor, presentation, food temperature and serving size of all our orders ensured we will be frequent returning customers. Once word spreads, there is no question this restaurant will have every seat filled and a line waiting out the door. Most of the diners were Chinese (an excellent indicator of the food quality) and there was a constant stream of carry out orders happening. Manager/owner checked in on us along with other diners. I'm so happy to have finally tried Kung Fu Noodle House. The whole menu looks amazing and I appreciate the variety of regional dishes, many of which were my absolute favorite from my time living in China. We got the black bean noodles, dumplings and Hawaiian fried rice. All were super yummy but the black bean noodles were my favorite. Please do yourself a favor and discover how amazing black bean noodles can be. Looking forward to coming by and trying one of the noodle soups- all of which look superb. The place is minimally appointed as well. Some decor, tables and chairs everywhere,, period. Let's get to the food shall we. Spicy Beef Tendon: did I tell you I gravitate towards nasty bits. This one presents very well. Served as a cold dish, I think it's pretty good. I'd order this again. Fried Dumplings: this dish is pretty ok, a bit on the greasy side. Meat was seasoned well but the grease is a bit overwhelming. I had to bury it in chili sauce. Beef Tripe and Omasum Noodle Soup: Yes I am that Asian. Nasty bits excite me, so whenever I see it, I order it. This dish for some reason fell short of expectations. I enjoy the gamey flavor, but it gets old fast. Broth needs balancing, maybe a bit more special seasonings. Red Curry Shrimp Noodle Soup: Probably the savior of the evening. My husbands pick and the broth was really delish. Good place for a large comforting bowl of Chinese noodle soup along with a few dim sum dishes. Not a lot of meat in the soup but the broth was pretty tasty. Tried the beef as well as the lamb skewers - lamb was the better of the two. Service was very good - a lot of attention to our table as well as all others by the few wait staff that were working.
