When I got home we were missing the chicken vegetable soup and just got a little stem of basil. Called to let them know, they went to the back to check and confirmed my soup was there. I asked for a refund and they couldn't refund me over the phone. I had to drive back (10 miles each way) in order to get a refund and they were nice to let me have the soup for free. After I got home to finally eat my soup like an hour later, turns out they got the order wrong. They gave me a tofu, vegetable with chicken soup (mostly tofu, little chicken). Then, after asking if everything was in the bag for my order and the lady confirming, I get home to find they didn't give me the three soups that were supposed to come with my lunch specials. Golden Pho is my go to on Chinese night , I believe it to be a mom and pop's restaurant so it makes since that the food is so good, I usually order the family dinner and sides because I can get enough food to feed a family of four. I especially like their dumplings because my kids will eat them and my kids are some picky eaters. Nothing new or different, just a solid basic Pho with beef, meatball, trip and tendon. Broth was basic allowing you to flavor it with the mint, lemon/lime slice and sauces as you would want. They have a 2 for one boba tea special. If it was warmer I would have been all over that. Across the street from Home depot and caddy corner to the City college, you would expect it to be busier than I found it. But then again I was here around 2:30pm. The broth is not well seasoned it's missing certain hints of spices and way too much of Fishy Gamey robust flavor. Not at all like the healthy feeling one gets from Pho. So I tried the veggie broth which was lighter and look promising and it just tasted like corn water, it's even a bit yellowish like so. No no no...I was so excited to see a pho restaurant so close to home. Unfortunately, I was sorelyyyy disappointed. Their menu has more take-out Chinese food than actual Vietnamese food. That was already a bad sign... They had a promotion for 20% off pho ga so I went with that while the boyfriend went with pho dac biet. It tasted off. The broth tasted more like chicken broth only than soup that has been stewed in chicken bones. I tried to mask the odd soup with sauces, but nothing helped. The chicken meat was very dried chicken breast (maybe frozen chicken)? Their veggies weren't so fresh either. It was far from a traditional, hearty bowl of pho. The pho dac biet seemed okay, but still isn't worth $8. You're better off heading down to the Cerritos area for something more authentic.
