Got fro-yo from Golden Spoon just a couple of hours ago, and they changed the whole business way of doing things. There is a store near the Solana Beach "boardwalk" and it is called Yummy Yogurt and they tell you to get a styrofoam bowl; small, medium, or large; put any kinds of flavor(s) you want; any topping(s)/no topping(s); and then to weigh the bowl to guess the price. The only thing that Golden Spoon doesn't have is the weighing the bowl for the price. It is amazing! Golden Spoon doesn't use their styrofoam cups/bowls anymore. They use paper, like a hard cardboard used for the packaging of goods. It makes it taste better because you don't get pieces of the bowl floating in your frozen yogurt. And when the yogurt melts, the bowl doesn't fall apart in your hands. This is what I recommend: I got Mint, Chocolate Malt, Salted Carmel, and Coffee. I love the Coffee and the Mint together! I got Gummy Bears and Oreo's sprinkled on top! (You don't have to get the Gummy Bears and the Oreo's, Just try the Mint and the Coffee!) I am 15 years old, and I love my Fro-yo!!!!!!! read more

Walked in and the cashier was to busy taking to someone sitting in the chair. Then rudely told us we had to pay first. So we had a coupon which was we guess from the old owners. The cashier had to call her supervise to get a answer. Which was ok by us, but when she came back she said we don't take coupons from the old owners. Well that's a way to start off a new business. There's a reason why the only person in the place was her friend the place was dirty and not well keeper. Poor customer service, didn't realize that it wasn't weight based, my daughter only filled a quarter of her medium cup, not once were we offered a smaller cup or did the girl offer my daughter the opportunity to put more yogurt in her cup. Been to this location many times before but I guess it's been a couple years. Wondering what on earth has happened to this place! It's an absolute dump! Walked in to an empty register, waited for the young staff member to emerge from the back, we paid and she immediately retreated to the back again. Every surface (machine handles and topping spoons) was sticky to the touch. The worst part was the grates that catch all the ice cream drips (beneath the dispensers) were covered in frozen yogurt...looked like it had not been wiped down in weeks. 5 additional couples/families trickled in during the time that we were there, each one had to wait at the from for the staff person to come out from the back. At 9:pm 3/5/17 My husband and I had a late night craving for frozen yogurt, checked the hours of operations and were pleased to find they are open until 10: pm on Sundays. We arrived at approximately 9:07pm cashier charged us for our containers and offered an extra charge for "toppings " we paid for extra toppings as well. All of the yogurt dispensers were shutting down and pumping little to no yogurt the staff member just stood and watched us struggle and did not offer an explanation. Also all of the toppings were put away already all that was left was empty stacked containers and nuts and sprinkles had no serving spoons. That's not all the staff member continued sweep around us and did not offer to help us once again. Very disappointed in the customer service. If we are going ro be offered and charged for product and service we should be provided it. read more

Selection was very poor at this location. They have half the flavors that are found at Menchie's, and the Oreo cookies and cookie dough toppings that were out were extremely stale. I haven't been to a frozen yogurt establishment where they charge you before you get your yogurt, so I was initially confused as to where to get a cup as they're usually by where the yogurt is. The employee there was not very helpful and only answered my question after I had looked around for about 30 seconds, and after I asked her. If you want a small yogurt cup, it's $2, but if you want it with toppings, it goes up to $3.75. I was just looking for some plain tart yogurt with light toppings of Oreo crumbles and cookie dough. Provided that the toppings were stale, it was not worth the price, and wouldn't have been either way. I would not recommend this place, or take anybody here. First time here and loved it! The cashier Marisa was super nice and the customer service was AMAZING!!! Did I mention it's also self serve! So I tried all of the flavors before deciding on a mix of FIVE flavors! Definitely will be back whenever the frozen yorgurt craving kicks in and for $4 a cup and filling the cup up as high as you can with whatever you want, the craving is bound to kick in often :) read more

Maybe it was just the fact that I REALLY needed some ice cream, but this place is completely capably of satisfying my sweet tooth. The yogurt is fat free - always a good thing, especially because it actually tastes like you're eating something fattening. I made it a little more fattening with my addition of toffee bits, but I've got to say that the best combination for Golden Spoon's ice cream (in my very plain and non-adventurous opinion) is chocolate yogurt with granola. Oh man, that tastes so good. And I didn't find the place all that expensive. I would seriously take this place over ColdStone just because it's 1)cheaper, 2)better for you. I can't say that it tastes better just because I friggen love some of the creations at ColdStone, but Golden Spoon is wonderful. read more

I walked in and was honestly surprised with how clean everything was!! And on top of that the customer service was amazing. Well, that was a mistake. Frozen yogurt with my fiance on a random Tuesday night sounded like a nice suggestion of where to stop off at the end of our evening. This was my first and last visit to the Golden Spoon. Two little girls working, should have been my first clue to turn around but my fiance had been before and said it was good. I got cake batter frozen yogurt, with a little heath on top. As soon as I got past the candy I realized I could have just saved the money and gone and bought a Heath bar because the yogurt was bland as could be. I went up to the little topping cart and the little girl said, "Sorry, no refills, we have to charge you extra". I told her the yogurt in my cup (which I showed her was plain) was bland, and I wanted to put a little pineapple on top because it had no flavor. She said, "We'll have to charge extra for refills". I suggested to her then that I dump it out and get a different flavor because this did not taste good, I was not happy with it...broken record, child is incapable of independent thought..." We'll have to charge you extra". So, no replacement or suggestions for a paying customer unhappy with the product!? Anywhere you go, if someone is not satisfied, the policy is generally to replace the product. At the Golden Spoon, if you don't like your dessert, too bad. We'll keep your five dollars though. Prices are ridiculous. $5 for a small bowl and a topping. I tried the pumpkin yogurt -- pretty good -- and filled the bowl half-way. Then I put on a dab of the marshmallow cream topping and sat down to taste. The topping was horrid, so I took my bowl to the garbage and removed the topping. Then went to put more yogurt in the bowl. I was immediately told by the attendant that I wasn't allowed to do that. So I just paid $5 for a half a cup of yogurt. Last visit here, especially because a FroYo is close by. read more

Always consistent with the quality and cleanliness. The flavors are pretty traditional and the yogurt is creamier than other yogurt shops. You prepay for the size you want first, but that means unlimited toppings unlike other shops that charge by weight. read more

It is self serve, but since you only pay the price of the cup size you get, the topping display is not pleasant. The topping area was messy and there is not much to choose from that looked appetizing. The yogurt itself lacked quality compared to every other location I've been to. Who doesn't love frozen yogurt? Theirs is pretty good. The girl that was working when I went in was very busy, but very nice. The yogurt itself is really good. I wish there were more toppings and that they were easier to get out. They have them on these machines you have to turn on the wall, and they come out really slowly. When they finally get out, half the time they're all crumbled up because of the machine. Definitely not how I wanted my rainbow sprinkles!! Came here one night with my brother and his girlfriend. This was my first time seeing the whole new "Yogurtland" system implanted into Golden Spoon! I can't speak for the yogurt, but they DO offer non-dairy options (depending on the location) and to me, that's fabulous for everyone who is allergic to dairy and wants to join in the fun with their friends who are going to get yogurt. You can just dump a ton of stuff on top of your yogurt cause it's a set price in the beginning--so it's great in my opinion. I even told the guy that I hadn't filled up my yogurt all the way in the beginning (which was true) so he let me go back and get more. It was just a memorable experience for my non-dairy self. read more
