Typical diner aesthetics. Our server was good. The food was ok. The scrapple was really thicker than I've had it back home in Florida. It didn't have much flavor. The Arnold Palmer I ordered tasted like unfiltered tap water with a hint of tea, no lemonade flavor at all. The wings were good says hubby. The eggs be duct and fries were yummy.

Golden Eagle is what the Jersey Diner breakfast experience should be. This was probably our 4th or 5th visit. They have friendly, prompt service and an enormous menu with many omelettes and skillets to choose from. My favorite is the Athenian omelette with gyro meat, tomatoes and feta. It was Served with home fried and choice of toast. My husband had the scrapple skillet which is including in my photos. Coffee refills were offered readily. The bill for two before tip was $42.01 The Christmas spirit was immediately evident when we arrived on this December morning. The whole restaurant was decorated. It really brightened my day (photo included). If you are near Ringoes, this place is a great spot. It's only a short drive from Flemington or from New Hope, PA on US 202.

My new favorite diner in the area. I've lived in Hunterdon county for 25 years and I recently came here for the very first time! It's a little out of my way but, what drew me in was how they decorate for the holidays. I felt like I was inside a beautifully wrapped present! The food here was above average as far as diners go and the portions are huge. My friend took half of her Greek salad to go! My waiter was extremely friendly and funny and asked me if I wanted my hash browns with sautéed onions and peppers, as if he was reading my mind! Can't wait to bring the whole family back.

Went here with friends for New Year's Day breakfast. They recommended it to me to try out. When we went inside, the place was very clean, and everyone was very professional there. Me and my fiancée both got omelettes, and they all were cooked just right. Everything was very delicious. I would definitely go back next time I'm visiting the area.

Very good diner, above average food and service. Looks the same as when it was the Metro Diner. Would definitely eat there again.

Warm welcoming upon arrival, the atmosphere is fantastic as others have mentioned, got a little history on the way to our seats. Our server, Augusto, was fantastic. Very engaging, friendly and attentive. Excellent server. The food was outstanding. Portion sizes were just right and everything was what you would expect from a fine dining establishment. Will definitely be back!

I bumped up my star calculation 1/2 point higher, because everyone was so nice and when our server…read moredescribed the items on the menu, she actually made my mouth water with the descriptions of ingredients and preparation. I was very impressed by the way we were greeted by Noelle at the door. A little bit of history of the renovated barn turned into a cozy, well-appointed Stockton area BYOB, some smiling chat and then we were off to our table to what we were looking forward to since we made our reservation. I love the idea of the prix fixe menu with a well-rounded selection (fish, seafood, meat, and vegan choices, etc.) Apps The potato soup had a nice smooth consistency, full pieces of lobster meat, a touch of truffle. 4 stars The tuna tartare was fresh but seriously underwhelming. Not much flavor nor pizazz there. I wish I got something else. 2 stars Entrees The seafood ramen noodle thingy, explained to us that it was a newer item in the menu and very popular was the highlight of my evening. The stock is everything in ramen dishes and this was no exception. Excellent lobster stock and perfectly prepared shrimp, cooked to a snap when bitten into. The marinated egg was very different and very good. It had a nice strong tingling taste. 5 stars The braised short rib was tender but dry. However, when mixed with the au jus and pureed carrots on the plate, it livened and juiced the meat up. The roasted broccolini was inedible. Totally undercooked, chewy and a waste of a fine veg. 3 stars Dessert The peach and biscuit napolean presented itself fantastically, was looking forward to the first bite out of this jar of delight and then fell flat. The peaches were hard and tasted like unripen fruit. The honey and syrup and the sweetness of the whipped cream was all one can taste. Very disappointed and a waste of calories. 2 stars Service Hostess 5 stars, wait people 4 stars. It would have been 5 stars, or perfect, if we didn't have to wait 25 minutes for our dessert which was ordered pre-dinner. It's not like it had to be baked fresh, I didn't think. Maybe they had to whip up and bake the biscuits. And also, this was the type of place where you have to chase down your server to get your check and then once again chase them down to take your card. Now, would I go back? If I was in the area, maybe. Some of the other apps and entrees I saw being served looked very interesting. But that was the main problem I had here. Presentation was creative and art-like but some dishes ended up not living up to the vision.

The building is very historic with a small and lively bar and a narrow winding staircase to get to the quaint second floor area where we dined. Most of the tables had a sofa seating option and some eclectic groupings of chairs. Our server was friendly and efficient. We planned to begin our meal with the grilled octopus (that had an interesting preparation including broccoli rabe and raisins) but they were out of the octopus. We pivoted to the fennel salad which included shaved cheese, celery, pine nuts and a zesty lemon dressing. We'll try the octopus next time but we were very pleased with the salad. For our entrees we enjoyed the grilled scallops and the sea bass. Both were delicious. Highly recommend The Salt House.
