Overall a solid diner with a menu that pretty much can satisfy anyone. I've had breakfasts and dinners from eggs Benedict to a open Turkey sandwich for dinner and the food has been solid . Some plates not so solid , pancakes were meh and the burger I tried was dry . Not necessarily the freshest food I've tasted but solid plates that at least look and taste like what I was expecting . Properly cooked eggs Fluffy pancakes Crisp/tender waffle Well done potatoes Crispy bacon The only thing thing that wasn't well received was the flavor of the turkey sausage. Nothing really wrong with it, but we simply didn't care for it. The restaurant is clean. The owner was polite and appreciative. Parking is ample. It used to be the Ringoes Diner. We used to stop in frequently. I then wrongly assumed it closed. But it just changed its name. This is my favorite diner in Hunterdon County. They do a good breakfast. The make a good burger and honor requested cooking temps. Good coffee. On our last visit I had an excellent onion omelette with well done home fries and an english muffin. My son had a bbq burger. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious, served with a smile. My wife enjoyed her to go salad, a greek affair with gyro meat and lots of other "stuff." Well done. So much better than several years ago! Good portions and quality -I had the turkey dinner, my husband had the big pancake breakfast. A higher quality than your usual diner, but breakfast sausage was only so-so. Service was very friendly and attentive. We stopped in on a Sunday evening when it was quiet and pleasant, still with lots of regulars. Came here for lunch with the grandkids and my wife and daughter. This is a medium sized diner. It wasn't very crowded. We were seated quickly by an older gentleman who I assume was the owner. The waitress came right ver and took our drink order. We were able to order for the kids first. They each had eggs and one had pancakes. The eggs must have hit the spot because the kids ate them very quickly. My wife ordered a chicken parmigiana sandwich based upon the waitresses recommendation. It was a good sized sand which which was pounded thin and with plenty of cheese. My daughter had a Greek salad with nice sized rectangle of spanakopita. I tasted the spanakopita which was tasty. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich which was homemade. It was somewhat mayonnaisy but tasty. I typically like my chicken salad chunkier but this was still good. It came with a small container of cole slaw and s double pickle spear. It's very convenient to my daughter's house. It has a typical diner menu with burgers, wraps, sandwiches, triple deckers , breakfast items and dinner fare. There's a coy pond near the front of the restaurant. The owner was nice enough to give the kids some food do they could feed the fish. Definitely a winner in my book. read more

Ordered take out and it was delicious. We got one hot pastrami sandwich and one Shrimp Salad Sandwich! If you like Hot Pastrami that is tender and very fresh on a yummy rye bread with red onions...then this is the place! And the Shrimp Salad Sandwich is loaded with shrimp! Soooo good! The French fries are so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! I'm so glad we live near this great diner! read more

Megan is usually our server who is amazing. She takes the time to get to know her customers and what they like. She is always polite and kind. If you need something she will always get it for you. Well we ordered another lunch from Golden Star Diner! It was wonderful. The quality of their food is consistent! I got a turkey dinner, real turkey not processed turkey. It was moist White meat sliced & laid over a delicious dressing! With this I got a choice of two veg. (I got mashed Potatoes & carrots). It also came with Soup and salad and dessert. Once again super fresh. I am going to attach a picture of my salad because there are very few restaurants around here that give you a great salad w/your food. Plus, We ordered extra Apple turnovers because (not part of the meal but too good to miss). I'll post pictures. My husband had his favorite Ruben Sannswich with the moistest, tenderest corn-beef you'll ever taste except at Katz's in NYC! All this food was a take out order and was sooo good at home! We live locally and come here regularly. The owner is always on site and is extremely detail-oriented. The wait staff are attentive and make every effort to accommodate special requests. The food is always fresh and very tasty. I particularly enjoy the Eggs Benedict Florentine for breakfast and my husband loves the potato pancakes. My husband and I just had "Linner" ( Lunch and Dinner) at the Golden Star. The food was excellent home cooked fare. The soups were excellent, my salad was fresh and the dressing creamy. It was obvious our dinners were made with extremely fresh ingredients. The seasoning of my Flounder Francais was chock full of buttery lemon flavor, and the rice was it was served over was a perfect accompaniment. On top of the quick and courteous service put forth by our server Megan, the coffee was fresh and dessert was included with our dinner. The homemade rice pudding was a perfect ending for me, while my husband immensely enjoyed his chocolate mocha layer cake. If all of this wasn't enough, our entire meal, including dessert was inclusive in the price. We will stop by for a meal whenever we are back to the area. read more

This is one of the nicest diners I have ever been in. The staff is beyond real great, even the owner made sure to make a visit to make sure everything was going well at our table. The food was very good and extremely reasonably priced. From outside the diner looks kind of small which is very deceiving. It is very expensive inside very clean and newly decorated. We are a family of 6 and it is hard to find a place that is able to adequately accommodate us. I would give this Diner 10 Stars if I was able to. I had the onion soup which was very tasty and the bread was crispy inside which if you are an onion soup person you know that's a very hard thing to accomplish. My son had the chili which he was in love with. All of our meals were good the salad was extremely crisp... I cannot say enough good things read more

When we walked in, Jim the owner was on his cell phone, he completely ignored us while we stood there waiting to be seated. He FINALLY came over, guided us to a booth without saying a word, he threw the menus on the table and walked away? If he was having a bad day, he took it out on us. The place was empty. The waiter Tim came over to take our drink order, water and ice tea. He never came back to take our meal order? A couple that came in well after us was seated behind me. Tim took their drink order. When he FINALLY came out of the kitchen, where he appeared to be hanging out, he walked over to the booth behind me to take their meal order? By that time we had had enough, Jim was by the counter and I said we were here before that couple and walked out. This was our second BAD experience within the month. The last one was similar, different staff. The staff was talking about Jim before he came in at 5, that's how dumb they are talking about their boss in front of a customer. He said Jim makes him nervous when he's there. All the casual conversations ended when Jim walked in at 5, they pretended to be busy, wiping down counters etc. like school kids their attitude changed when Jim walked in. Previously in November we had a good weekend experience, that's why we went back. Never again, there is a lot of restaurant competition and we choose to go to a place where we are respected and given good service. Too bad the dumb waiter missed out on a good tip. If you choose to go, avoid the weekdays. I question how fresh is the food, if the place isn't busy. read more
