I had a negative experience with this company many years ago when my home warranty sent them. I had a completely different experience this time!! My septic pump was leaking and I put in the dreaded call to American Home Shield -- they are truly horrible!! - late at night and I heard from Golden State Plumbing the next morning. They scheduled Cameron to come to my home Wednesday. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it today. The delay was, of course, AHS. Theresa in the office was very friendly, explained the process, and was very prompt to set up the repair date once they received approval. We paid $950 for a plumber to install (3) sinks, We supplied the new fixtures ourselves. One of the boxes was missing an adapter and the technician assured me that when I got the missing part he would return to finish the job (maybe a 10 minute job tops). When I called the office I was told they could not return unless I paid again to return. So essentially paid $950 to install (2) functional sink faucets. The technician was very kind but the management is greedy and petty for money. I felt $950 was a fair price to pay for the work , even if a return trip was needed. You can't go wrong with Golden State Plumbing! Cameron has come out twice to install a new faucet and dishwasher. He patiently answers all of my questions and is super friendly and professional. I got the wrong size dishwasher and it would have been a huge pain to return it, but he did some maneuvering and made it work. Keep in mind that they might show up late because understandably the appointments before can run late, but it's worth the wait because they do a great job. Amazing work by Cameron W. This young man knew his stuff. We had an issue with our old water heater and Cameron came and replaced our water heater with a new one. Air pressure caused a pipe to burst in our bathroom ceiling pipe which dripped from the ceiling into the bottom of the bathroom cabinet floor and flooded into our bedroom. Cameron was able to locate the source of the problem and immediately fix the issue! It didn't take long at all-about 3 1/2 hours tops. He gave honest feedback on what the issue was which is helpful to know when we contact our insurance. PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY STAFF, TIMELY, FOLLOW-THROUGH WAS AMAZING, WORKED WITH MY TENANT - WOULD DEFINITELY DO BUSINESS AGAIN WITH THEM!! They have knowledgeable technicians, they were HONEST...I know this because my tenant knows about water heaters, and the office was INCREDIBLE. Placed a service request through our home warranty. This company was assigned our service request. The window was from 8-12. At 12:30, I called to follow up because the plumber hadn't arrived yet. The receptionist informed me that the plumber did come and knocked but no one answered. Apparently, he could hear my children inside of the house but we didn't hear a knock at all. We have dogs that bark at the slightest noise, so I am confused by the arrival and apparent knocking getting past all of us. When I talked with the office manager about the issue, I asked why the technician hadn't called me to verify that I was home. She literally said "we come, we knock, that's it. It's not our job to babysit you". Extremely rude and unprofessional. I had been working with my children with their online schooling. Perhaps I didn't hear an initial knock, but had the tech actually tried to knock louder or ring the doorbell, we would have heard it. We are the customer and there is no reason to take such a condescending tone. Other companies call with a 20 minute warning prior to arrival. I would never recommend this company. If your home warranty assigns them, you can call back and request a different provider. read more

Called my insurance company American Home Shield on a Wednesday to report a leaking water heater. They contracted me with Golden State Plumbing on which they didn't contact me I had to contact them as I waited two days so by Friday I called them to schedule my appointment. Mind you I have no hot water and a leaking water heater which mold is now starting to grow on the walls at this point so you would think it would be an emergency as I did inform Golden State of this issue but unfortunately according to Golden state it wasn't because I requested that they come on Saturday being they already received the water heater but they stated they didn't have an employee to work on Saturday. Come Monday the technician arrived and apparently didn't have some materials so needed to go to the store. Mind you it was also his first day on the job. Well job got done and when it came time for additional payment on which my insurance did not cover but I was okay with paying, but the problem was that I was not informed on who to pay the additional amount to the technician, or the company? no one informed me of who that payment would be made out to so upon the job being finished I was on my way out and the technician stated he needed cash in which I told him I didn't have cash and I wasn't told I needed cash but that I would call the company and make a payment over the phone with a credit card and he had to call his boss to make sure that was okay. Well he spoke with Tracy the manager and she insisted he collected payment before leaving in which I explained to him to tell Tracy I would call her and make the payment over the phone that I had to leave to a drs appointment but I would call right now and she was yelling over the phone poor guy I felt bad for the technician but it was undoubtedly very unprofessional for Tracy the manager to conduct herself in that way. I then got on the phone with Tracy from his phone and told her I would call right back on my phone and make the payment but she was screaming and yelling threatening to uninstall the water heater so I just hung up the phone apologized to the guy and called the company on my phone in front of the technician and proceeded to my car and left. I spoke with Jessica who was nice and explained I wasn't aware I needed cash on hand and I would gladly make the payment over the phone but meanwhile I can still hear Tracy screaming like a mad woman in the background saying "tell them off" and tell them I'm the manager bla bla bla just so incredibly unprofessional. I will never deal with this company again and want to warn people of Tracy. Now I see why they didn't have any employees to work on a Saturday I wouldn't want to work for Tracy either. read more

Stay away from Golden State Plumbing. All 1 Star reviews are true & be skeptical about fake 5 star reviews. We have a water heater emergency & we we're coordinating with our Home Warranty. The inspector was ok but Rebecca who answers the phone is rude & dismissive. She will rush & cut you off with your questions. When she says "is there anything else we can help you with?", she really means hang up now & go away. When asked, she refused to give me her supervisor's name, hanged up on us twice. Instead, she maliciously lied & sabotaged our water heater replacement. She called our Home warranty & reported "mold" exists without any proof. It has set us back 1.5 weeks & hundreds of dollars for inspection the Home Warranty required after her fake report. We have filed a complaint so the Home Warranty does not use this vendor again. As an update, we called the next business day to file a formal complaint to the owner named Tracy. The owner acted the same way as her employee. She rudely talked over us & will not listen to facts of the matter & hanged up on us. This is an Owner/manager who leads by bad example! She called back to dictate her views, demanded to remove this review without knowing the facts how her office lied & treated us & most likely other clients as well (see other reviews), then hanged up on us again. We have filed a BBB complaint #14334133 with all the facts & timeline of calls to their office. We have recommended this business be removed from our Home Warranty list of vendors and made sure our complaint is recorded. We highly suggest that you stay away from Golden Gate Plumbing. read more

Buyer Beware!!! This plumbing company tried to rip off my elderly parents and scare them into a greatly inflated price repair. I called one of my friends who recommended a reputable plumber who helped them out quicker and for much cheaper. This company used scare tactics and deception to try and intimidate my parents into a bill that was 2-3x higher than it should have been. Unfortunately Yelp does not allow negative stars, as they would definitely warrant them. We were assigned Golden State Plumbing through our home insurance for a simple repair and replacement. They never initiated contact, once contact was made by us, they were difficult to schedule and flaky. Their technician came out and made the leak worse, did not repair the issue and left it. After many phone calls, we finally made contact with the manager whom can only be described as unhinged. She proceeded to scream and yell into the phone for the duration of the call. If you want work done well, or done at all, don't call these people. You're better off letting a toddler go with a wrench, they'd do a better job and might have better communication skills. read more

The technician whose name is Jimmie was very thorough and very knowledgeable in his profession. REVIEW POSTED AFTER TRACY WAS RUDE AND HUNG UP!!!! Since Tracy at Golden State Plumbing accused me of leaving a negative Yelp review, I might as well do so. These people are rude and unprofessional. They were sent out by my equally useless home warranty company to look at a break in a pipe in my slab. Yes, it was discovered during a bathroom remodel, but there was no other way to have found it. The tech from Golden State told the warranty company that i wanted them to pay for installing my new tub and wall surround. That was NOT what I wanted done. I know that is at MY expense. I wanted the broken pipe fixed. I was willing to pay Golden State to do the rest. Tracy started the call with accusing me of leaving a negative Yelp review about them, which I had NOT done! She was extremely rude, yelling and nasty!! I now going to include them in my complaints to the California Insurance Board and the Contractors Licensing Board. read more

This company was assigned by AHS to clean out a blockage in the kitchen sink. Gave me a run around for 3 days and finally said the insurance company denied to do this service since there is no cleanout . They said they will give me a retail quote to install a clean out , This was about 700 dollars . Really guys. All you need to do was to remove the P trap and put the snake though that for the clean out the blockage . I have that done on my other properties. Why are you going to cut a hole to put a cleanout under the sink. This is Condominium and they have common clean out . Just an incompetent company that cannot take care of simple issue. AHS is also a company that gives you a run around to just avoid you when you have issues. They took my $75 service and did nothing. Am filing a complain in BBB and State Consumer affairs for sure cancel my policy with AHS as well . read more

My water heater went out & my insurance company called this mess of a company. Their "inspector" aka sales-guy came out the following day, spent about 30 seconds looking at it before declaring it needs to be replaced & that there is obvious asbestos (there wasn't). He said he would have the report back to the insurance company by that night. When I called the next morning to follow up, the lady (I use that term lightly) rudely said, "you're being impatient & you just need to wait for it. I'll get to it when I get to it." Wow! OK... So I called my insurance company the next day (day 4 of no hot water) & asked if they had received it and they had not. The agreement between vendor & my insurance company is that there is a required 24 hour max turnaround. The following day, day 5, still no report, and still no hot water. So I called Golden State again & she said "Lady, you have mold and asbestos. We're not working on that"... huh?? Then she went on to say, here, talk to my manager. Apparently, she put a howler monkey on the phone, because all I really heard through the screaming was "You have been rude to everyone in my office" (I spoke to 2 people before this) and "we don't even WANT to work with you" (ya, well that's obviously mutual), threw out some expletives and hung up on me. (that was a manager?!?!) So, I calmly redialed & explained to the 1st woman that I was simply trying to have the report sent over to my insurance company so we can get this fixed and she must have overheard because she said, "yes ma'am, I'll work on it now". Needless to say, being a fan of warm water, I hired another plumbing company who came out the next day, got it fixed at a reasonable price, and confirmed there was neither mold nor asbestos present. So if you appreciate being yelled at, over charged, lied to & irresponsible delays, by all means, this is your company. Enjoy the drama. If you appreciate kind professionalism, fair dealings & reasonable pricing, I would suggest going elsewhere. read more

My hot water heater tank started leaking, so I called my home warranty company and they set me up with Golden State Plumbing Services, Inc. I was a little worried about this plumbing company after reading some of the reviews on Yelp and Google, but both guys (one sent to diagnose the problem, one to install the new water heater) were very nice and very knowledgeable about what they were doing. The guy installing the new hot water heater also taught me some stuff (I'm new to home ownership) that I needed to know. He was very friendly, and he did a great job. Home warranty company assigned Golden State to install new water heater. Install done March 30, 2020 without a permit and the exterior door to closet would no longer close. April 3, 2020 technician out to re-position water heater so door will close. Asked why no permit pulled. He said responsibility of AHS. E-mailed AHS, no response. Filed complaint with CSLB. April 8, 2020 Golden State technician at gate to complex (7:40am) said, " I have your permit." I let him in (he has no permit in hand), he goes straight to water heater with some copper piping and begins add'l work on the water heater. Asked about it and he said something about the T&P line. I mentioned, "that must mean it wasn't properly installed on March 30th." and asked to see the permit. He said, "it's on file with the office that does the inspection", he could not name that office. At 9:53am I received a call from Tracy/Golden State Plumbing calling to give me a "heads up" that when the inspector arrives for the water heater, he will also enter your home to check for smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. ( was this an attempt to intimidate me?) I told her not a problem as I have ALL! (They were installed by the realtor when I bought this home 1 year ago) I also mentioned the add'l work done today on the original install, she denied add'l work was done and started to argue with me. I hung up. I would NOT recommend using this company. read more

I am having plumbing issues which everyone can agree are the worst...so it is not helpful to have someone yelling at you when you are the customer. Tracy at Golden State Plumbing was the worst. I asked to speak to her manager and she informed me she was the manager. Later I found out she is the owner too!!! Furthermore when I tried explaining to the technician that I didn't need to pay the deductible/co-pay because this was the third plumber to come out and the warranty company should cover it 100% because it had already been paid and this is the same issue that has been going on since the first plumber. He said that he would have to call the office and let them know. Tracy told her technician to leave because of non-payment. He couldn't leave a receipt with the recommendation he was suggesting because I hadn't paid the co-pay. I am beyond amazed at how they are still in business with an owner like Tracy. read more
