didnt know they have another location which has been here two years ago per their staff! But glad I stumbled upon it as we were heading to their other location which was closed on July4th. Luckily this one at Grand St was open! yay!! This location is much bigger than the first and still had a lot of options to choose from. Not just breads but other quick eats too like rice noodles and dumplings. But as usual we were here for their steamed pork buns. A lot of people go for the roasted one, but ive always preferred the fluffiness of the white steamed buns. So good! aaand...still cash only.

One of my favorite bakeries in Chinatown for red bean buns and sesame balls! Good prices when you use cash.

Cash only gab and go. Budget friendly buns and rice roll snacks. Best eaten fresh or steamed warmed in the mornings-(the buns; tarts in oven) Planning to check out cocktail buns (sweet buns with coconut filling)

The old location on Mott Street was my go to for my bao fix but they are closed now. Came here to buy the baked roast pork buns that comes in a pack of eight and somehow its not the same anymore. New version of the buns were a bit bigger in size but hardly any filling inside. I used to rave about how good it was and heard the Golden steamer in Brooklyn have the same issue. They best start putting more meat in those buns.

Go-to for buns; esp the baked roast pork buns- not many bakeries carry the mini baked ones, usually just the steamed ones. With social media having blown up a certain bakery that sells baked roast pork buns, and the old school reliable ones closing down over the years, Golden steamer has come in clutch when cravings for a sweet/fatty baked roast pork bun kicks into gear. Excellent prices, great selection, friendly services.

I didn't know they opened a location just around the corner but I was walking by and noticed a much cleaner, brighter store. A whole display on the counter for a variety of rice rolls. If I wasn't carrying so much stuff, I prob would've gotten one and they just brought out a new hot tray of egg tarts.. only $1.50..next time... I bought a box of big bao... and a box of pork with chives which I've never tried before. I haven't been to Golden Steamer in a long time since it needs some cleaning up so I'm glad this spot opened. Big bao was good .. saltier than the other place I get it from usually but most likely perfectly seasoned for most people.

Cheap eats..Big steamed buns for $2.25 and they have steamed chicken over rice for $4. They have a variety of baked goods and steamed bread buns. Quick service but you have to get around the little old ladies that frequent this spot.

Love this spot. Quick grab and go for hot, ready made buns, as well as bun packs to take home and steam at a later time. Staff is swift. Cash only. Favorite include the egg custard, Big Bun, and Pork&Veggie bun. Quite affordable as well. No sit down area here, def more grab and go style place.

Golden grand opening of Golden Steamer! The former Kwong Wah bakery was bought out by the Golden Steamer around the corner, fully renovated and ready for business. It's very brightly lit with shiny new stainless steel fixtures and new cabinets. Food offerings have also been expanded with new steam tables in the back. Subtle changes to the regular baos are that the baked ones are smaller but packed in triplets, so a 3-pak goes for $2.25. The rice rolls are fresh made at the front of the house with your choice of shrimp, beef, pork or chicken and with optional egg. At the back of the house are additional cooked food offerings from hot steamed baos, congee, stir-fried noodles & vermicelli. Coffee & tea, both hot & cold are still ordered at the counter. Kwong Wah had always been one of my favorite Chinatown bakeries, but the new expanded Golden Steamer will be a great replacement.

    Egg custard steamed bun

I had one of their egg custard steam buns and it was affordable and filling! I meant to order the salty egg bun for something more savory, but the egg custard was still very yummy!

Golden steamer is known in the hood and has a much smaller store just down the block on mott street. This new second location has more choices for both buns and other hot food. It was well staffed and clean. I decided to get salted egg custard bun in a box of 6 for 6.50. Nice fluffy fresh and delicious. The meat and vegetable bun was tasty but needed more filling.

The orange has a base made of chocolate Rice Krispies. All of them have more fruity filling than the mousse. They are very fragile. I recommend eating there if you can. Finding can be a challenge because it's busy and there aren't many seats. I got mine to go just to be taken to the park across the street . The mushroom kind are totally ruined. It has strawberriy jelly and it was a mess. The orange one was almost ruined too. The mango has some diced mangoes. I devoured three of them instantly. Definitely come back to try more.

Yummmy!!! What a cute and unique dessert boutique! So many choices but what makes this place stand…read moreout are its adorable and colorful mousse delicacies. The inside was packed with folks! There was no place to sit down because of how busy it was but the staff kept the line moving quick enough. The place still seemed reasonably stocked with their desserts and treats, despite the late afternoon time that I arrived. I ordered 4 different treats to go and they're packed in small box individually. Unfortunately, they didn't quite stay intact during my trek back to my hotel and were tumbled around in the boxes. Nonetheless, the taste and flavors held up well and even after a few days in the fridge. The yuzu daisy has this vivid pastel yellow-pink base and adorable gelatinous yellow gem atop a white flower. The yuzu gives a subtle infusion of tart that is balanced out by the light delicate skin texture of the rest. Sitting atop a thin round rice crispy. I loved the red mushroom one which is a creamy pink mousse inside the cap. The stalk is a thin porcelain-white chocolate light base also filled with a rich cream. Adjacent are two cute little tree nuts. The orange and mango have such vivid colors and are aesthetically pleasing too. Just like the previous ones, their delicate chocolate exterior houses a rich tarty mousse-y filling. I think the mushroom has a better balance and variety of flavors. Although I don't eat mousse treats often, I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future, like the blueberry, banana and cloud.

This used to be my favorite Italian bakery. I haven't been to this bakery in years like ten years…read moresince I was a teenager. Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

The Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookie was not too sweet as the walnuts were the perfect balance! I think this is for people who are not too big on chocolate chips in their cookie. The Coconut Caramel cookie reminded me of a Samoa! You can taste all the coconut in the cookie and it was delicious! The Sticky Bun was so soft as well! 10/10!
