I have ordered take out from here before. It's usually really good but this past Friday night the Broccoli Beef smelled and tasted very fishy. My son broke out in a food allergy of welts all over his body immediately after eating it. The beef was also very gummy. I couldn't cut it with my fork. Pls tell your cook not to cross contaminate cooking utensils. Food allergies can be deadly. I won't be returning to your establishment. Damn. I really liked your food. read more

We saw that this restaurant it had five stars, but we rate it at one. The food was terrible the vegetables were not even cooked in the stirfry the soup was so bland and the fried rice was cold. Last week, we came back to try another lunch special. So glad we did. I ordered the mongolian chicken with steamed rice. Hot and steamy from the kitchen, so good and spicy! The egg soup warms the tummy with delight. My wife had the house special lomein, soft noodles (chicken,shrimp,beef). She said it was very good. So happy it's close to our home. This place has some GREAT Chinese food. Driving by, you would probably never expect this place to be so great, and that' if you even saw it at all! This place is tucked away in a shopping center (look for the giant Marshalls!). But like always, the Yelp reviews brought me here! My boyfriend and I decided to get two items to split, because we weren't too sure how big the portions would be. We decided to go for the orange chicken and the green beans, which both has pretty great reviews on Yelp. However, when it came time to order, we had a bit of trouble communicating with our waitress. Here was our confusion: Both the items we wanted were on the lunch AND entree menu, so we were wondering if there was a size difference, and if so, we wanted to smaller option. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier or the waitress didn't really understand what we were trying to ask, but there was a lot of confusion while ordering! So I'm still not sure which version we got, but we just went with it, and all was fine! This food was DELICIOUS! Probably the best orange chicken I've ever had, and the green beans were so garlicy and amazing. And we even had some leftovers. Aside from the communication errors/confusion, I can't really say anything bad about this place. If you are in the area, you should give this place a try! I think some of the previous reviews give off the wrong impression that this place can compare to more authentic Chinese restaurants. I just don't want people to be disappointed with Golden Wall because of high expectations. Golden Wall is simply solid Americanized Chinese food. No, it won't compare to places in Garden Grove or Westminster or San Gabriel, but it's solid! Like others have mentioned, the service is excellent here. The family that manages the restaurant is super friendly and very accommodating to all customers. I tend to come in a big Filipino group after mass and we have never ever had a problem with the service here. My parents and Titos/Titas are actually friends with the staff now and even provide recommendations to the menu to my awkward dismay. The food here definitely has flavor. The only bland dishes I would stay away from are their noodles. I recommend the Steam Fish fillet, Honey Walnut Prawns, Orange Chicken, and their Mongolian beef. I really like how they use large beef slices for their Mongolian Beef. It's quite good. The BEST thing though here is their various lunch specials that are available EVERY day all the way until 3PM. I think the only time they don't offer them are holidays. They're all less than $8 and start around $6 and it's a big portion of food that comes with Fried Rice or steamed rice/ a cup of soup (dine in only), salad (underwhelming it's just lettuce pretty much), and a full sized plate of your main entree. I really enjoy the orange chicken, kung pao fish, fish with black bean sauce, mongolian beef, teriyaki chicken, etc. It really is a fantastic deal! read more

This is a little gem of a place located in a dreadful strip mall in La Mirada. Actually, it is right up the street from where I live, so we go here fairly often. I shouldn't write restaurant reviews because I don't eat meat, which of course is a large part of the Chinese diet. But the wife and daughter do, and they say it is good. I order the stir fried green beens because they are covered with garlic. The sweet and sour soup is delicious, as are the vegetable rolls. Add the fried rice and I am content. The owner is attentive and friendly, and there is ample but full parking out front. I like to get here at 11:00 a.m. to beat the rush. read more

The set up is decent, the service is exceptional, Chinese music played in background is pleasing to the ears, the food is hot, fresh, and delicious (YAY NO MSG PEOPLE!! And I have verified this by taking an extremely MSG sensitive/food sensitive friend here.) You can substitute your white rice for brown rice- YES. I am always happy with ANYTHING I order from there. The price is amazing, lunch special is super awesome - all students love that. I like that you get salad, egg roll, and soup for free with your meal. Love it, love it. The server and owner are very friendly and sociable, honest hard working people. I am a regular here, come 2-3x a week and have brought so many new people to eat here with me. My roommate suggested this place to eat one night and I was a little thrown off (if not turned off) by the depressing place in which it was located. It was just a crappy little strip mall but I thought, eh, what the hell? We walked in and the place was completely empty which I then started to feel bad for the restaurant, (I get like that sometimes). Turns out, this place was delicious! The staff were very accomodating. Really nice people and were more social with us than I had expected from a Chinese restaurant. We all ordered the family style meal that feeds 5 and the waiter didn't lie when he said it was a lot. Plenty of food to go around and it was great. And then, people started trickling in (sucks for the restaurant cuz it was like 30 minutes before closing time). So it got pretty busy at the last minute which was good for the atmosphere. Overall, my favorite Chinese place in the area (although that's not saying much because La Mirada isn't really considered the place to go for eating out or anything else fun.) But either way, if I lived in another city, I'd totally make the drive to come eat here. read more

I love Golden Wall! I've been coming here for a few years now. I usually like to order the house special lo mein (shrimp, beef, chicken), egg rolls, and their egg flower soup! I've been ordering delivery the last few times (which is also a plus) but if you go in during lunch hours they have nicely portioned specials going on. I've always had friendly service when I've gone and end up with leftovers when they deliver. The delivery even comes in reusable plastic-ware that you can re-heat the food in. What's keeping me from a 5? A couple times the flavor hasn't been exactly the same with the soup and egg rolls but I've still enjoyed them otherwise. read more

For lunch special you get soup AND salad. you don't have to choose between the two. I got Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables. It was mediocre. The fried rice was dry, and on the bland side. I was not a fan of the soup, bu the salad was pretty good. I do appreciate though that they do not use MSG. Had the food been chock full of msg, my stomach would have been unhappy and I would have been quite sick moments after lunch. Thank goodness this was not the case. This leads me to believe that they are true to their word when they say no MSG, which is pretty rare in Asian eateries. read more

We have been frequenting this little simple and unassuming "hole in the wall" Chinese restaurant for at least the last 3 years, and keep coming back regularly. This little treasure is very busy all the time, which means always fresh hot food is being served... no left overs here. Golden Wall provides freshly prepared Chinese food that tastes amazing but also manage to be reasonably priced. We've tried many of their delectable dishes, but do have our favorites, like the Chicken with String Beans, Beef Chow Fun and Szechuan Eggplant. They don't charge you extra for fried rice or brown rice in lieu of white rice. Whether you eat in or take it to go, their food is always ready fast and fresh each and every time, we have never been disappointed. The service is also amazing, we want to give special kudos and recognition to Eric (or Mr. Chen as we call him), he is always cheerful, polite and super helpful, your meal will be extra pleasant as you are served by this wonderful man. If you have dietary restrictions, you can always ask for less salt and less oil, and the chef will accommodate you in that regard. My brother and I were hungry one day and decided we would order Chinese food. Neither one of us wanted to leave the house so we decided to order delivery. We live right behind this restaurant and we thought we would try it since it was so close and the reviews, amazing! My brother goes ahead and orders orange chicken, egg rolls and steamed rice for us to share. We ordered the food and it was delivered 10 minutes later. My brother kept saying it was sketch that they delivered it so quickly, I honestly didn't see a problem with it. So we get our food and my brother is a food concierge, he takes a couple bites of the orange chicken and tells me it tastes undercooked. I couldn't believe it since it looked so good so I tried it and honestly didn't feel that way but I definitely wasn't impressed by the taste. We ended up throwing away the orange chicken and the steamed rice because it tasted like they hadn't drained out the water. I was actually.... disappointed, and sad for it. After reading the reviews of this location I couldn't wait to go and try them out. So I went the next day with my sister. We decided to try this location out for lunch. We ordered the sauteed vegetable lunch entree' and the steamed chicken dumplings (appetizer). The Story: When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly and attentive worker. (Think he was the owner) He seated me while I waited for my sister to join me for lunch. He asked if I would like anything to drink. "Yes" I responded. He brought 2 waters out, because I mentioned that there will be 2 people. The menu had some delicious entree listings. I had asked the worker about some of the entrees' and it so happened that the meals I was looking @ were already served to some people so I got to see the delicious meals! They looked very scrumption and yummy. When my sister arrived we ordered our meal. The Lunch entree comes with: 1) a cup of egg soup - A+ - Green peas - tofu - egg white - I think there was something else in it.... 2) egg roll - very delicious 3) salad - had some sort of dressing already on it - is alright - it's iceberg :O( 4) cup of rice - We ordered the brown :O) ------------------------------------------- As a starter the soup came out 1st. Then the egg roll w/ the salad. Then the brown rice. After in which the "steamed chicken dumplings" had arrived at the table...... As they should have been... They were fried EeeK! We mentioned this to the worker and he mentioned that the waiter who actually took our order wrote down the wrong meal. He was kind enough to take the appetizer back and re-make the order. Following this our vegetables arrived..... Umm.... We were disappointed..... The portion of the vegetables was not that grand.. for the plate size, there should have been one more heap of vegetables..... ANYWAYS! The Verdict: Vegetable Entree' Plate: C - portion size was not very adequate - there was not enough taste - I asked for it to be light on the sauce.... Ordered the Kung Pao Yan San which was the beef and white meat chicken, kung pao style. It was salty and soy sauce-y but that's about it. It is not the best Kung Pao ever. I was looking for more authentic Chinese like you can get in Roland Heights / Walnut / Diamond Bar area (where they don't speak English) and I am glad I found this place. It is a little hole in the wall ish, I have driven by many times and hardly knew it was there. I ordered and paid via yelp app (WAY COOL) and picked it up on time. They had everything ready and was in and out quickly. The food was great, more authentic than fast food like, which I was very happy about.
