Falafel sandwich with harissa sauce and fresh veggies, making it a solid, flavorful, and filling lunch on the go!

First time trying Goldie after seeing it advertised everywhere. The shop on Penn's campus was clean and had a nice section for all the cutlery. My favorites: loved the pita toppers (pieces of pita cut up). They were fresh and soft! Also LOVED the Turkish coffee Tahini shake. I would go back just for that! I got the new Falafel Caesar salad. It was just OK. I wasn't a fan of the fried pita pieces in the salad. The falafel balls were on the smaller side which allowed for more crisp but still just ok. Staff was friendly even with the brief interaction I had with ordering! I would come back for the shake!!

Goldie is situated in Franklin's Table Food Hall and it offers extremely healthy food options. One of my biggest complaints is that for the price point of $12 for a sandwich or $14 for the falafel salad, I would hope the falafels are tasty. I've ordered both and at times the falafels are so hard I have to throw them out because I can't bite them. It is a huge disappointment and I've given up on them. However, I LOVE the tehina shakes. Though they are small, they are always tasty and keep me full throughout the day. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find another place you can find a tehina shake too. The service is always exceptionally fast. By the time I find a table, they're usually ready with my order. The interior of Franklin's Table has a lot of metal seating and outdoor seating. I would highly recommend trying a tehina shake if you are in need of a quick snack throughout the day.

I can't get enough of this place! I eat here at least once a week when I'm at the office. The menu is quite simple: sandwich or salad, seasoned fries or regular, shake or drink? I love a good falafel and Somonov makes a great onel! The 4 out of 5 is because of price. While the food is most excellent in quality and taste, spending $20+ each time for lunch can truly add up. I've had to forgo my fries and shake on the occasion to stay within my weekly budget...and that makes me . ***Splurge on the tahini shake! You won't be sorry

SERVICE - located in Franklin's Table food hall across from UPenn - order at counter and find a table to sit or take it to go - food made fresh to order - served quickly - restroom available inside food hall MENU - falafel sandwiches, bowls, tahini shakes, hummus, and fries - well priced ($9-10 per entree) - combos available - all vegan FOOD - falafel sandwich with Amba tahini (9/10): a fluffy pita bread filled with five crispy falafels, veggie slaw, and tahini of your choice. It had the right balance of all components and was not overstuffed, which made it easy to eat. I did not really taste the Amba in the sauce, but I could see the tahini coating the veggies. - original tahini shake (10/10): I would go back just to get this. If you are a tahini lover, do not miss out! It's creamy and has a slight bitterness from the tahini that's balanced by the almond milk. They also have 3 variations: coffee, mint chocolate, and banana. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! Possibly just for the tahini milkshake.

This is just a stall in a food court and the falafel-centred menu admittedly doesn't offer a ton of variety, but I really like that you can choose from 4 different tehina sauces (which are described on a sign by the register) for the sandwich. I opted for a falafel sandwich with the amba sauce, and it was delicious. The falafels and pita were very fresh. The pita is fluffy, not the ultra-thin kind that a lot of pita wraps are made with. I was there with my family and tried a little bit of the mint chocolate cookie tehina shake that someone else ordered. Mint chocolate and tehina are not two things that I would've thought would go together, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked in this shake - I'm not even a big mint chocolate fan but this was delicious. It was like soft serve. I would definitely want to try another shake if I got to come back here, but it was so rich I can't see myself easily finishing one alone.

tl;dr the incredible tehina-based sauces and shakes highlight an otherwise dull and expensive assortment of falafel and fries From the minds behind Zahav and Federal Donuts, Goldie ("little Zahav") was conceived as a fast-casual, handmade-to-order falafel joint. The first store debuted in 2017 as right above CookNSolo's now-shuttered Rooster Soup Co. venture, and it was immediately met with wild popularity and long lines. While the original location is no longer open, the Goldie mini-empire now stretches from University City to Fishtown. Goldie is as subspecialized as its hummus-centric companion restaurant Dizengoff, offering a vegan menu of falafel wraps/salads, tehina shakes, and fries. The West Philly location was honored as one of the inaugural vendors within Franklin's Table, itself a spacious, industrial-chic food court. The room sports polished cemented floors, high ceilings with exposed HVAC, and accent lighting above the parallel rows of wooden picnic tables. Goldie is on the right side of the space, the closest vendor to the entrance. Crisscrossed lighting fixtures with incandescent bulbs cast a warm glow. Permanent stools are stationed along the stall's long, wooden countertop, and cans of imported pickles decorate the shoulder-high plexiglass barriers. A trim, letterboard menu is pasted on the far left. I've had Goldie multiple times in the past -- between dine-in, takeout, and catering -- and during my most recent visit, a buddy treated me to a Falafel Salad with Shawarma Fries and Pita. The surprisingly large salad was packed to the brim with lettuce blend and topped with 6 bland, semi-crispy falafel balls; vinaigrette and tehina sauces were meagerly drizzled on top, rather than thoroughly mixed it. The flavors were dominated by beet, with but a hint of za'atar. On the side, our limp fries smelled vaguely of Mediterranean spices, and the warm pita fell victim to its own steam. Alone, we agreed that the food would have been an expensive letdown. Fortunately, we also had the opportunity to complement it with the standout tehina-based sauces and shakes. The sauces (particularly the mildly spicy Schug Tehina) amped up the richness and flavor of the food tenfold. Meanwhile, the tiny but dense shakes packed a rich taste and thick consistency, and I could barely believe that they were vegan. Of the shake lineup, the Original best showcased the uniquely crave-worthy flavor, but the intensely java-y Turkish Coffee and the chunky Banana are no slouches either (although I found myself put off by the toppings that barely fit through the boba-style straw). Our large order was prepared on time, and the staff members were as perky as they were efficient. The salad alone ran nearly $15, and fries and pita brought that total closer to $20. If I were to return, I would skip all of the food -- instead, I would go straight for the (admittedly still pricey) $7 shake, with a few sides of the top-notch tehina sauce (only a modest $0.25 each) to-go for meat and veggies at home.

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. If you haven't been since the renovation, be prepared for an entirely new, full-service restaurant space complete with a revamped menu, including entree plates, hummus, sandwiches, and desserts. To that end, we never had problems with their food. We typically get their Make your own Bowl option. Their Slaw and Potatoes are very distinctive and delicious as base options. We appreciate how their Yeeroh Meats are actually shaved fresh and not some pre-packaged meat or something that isn't shaved, which kind of runs counter to the point. Their hummus is solid as well. The only thing to note is almost all of the veggie toppings aren't necessarily always prepared -- the tomatoes for example are straight up grape tomatoes they throw onto your bowl which could overpower the meal. Still would recommend them as a solid restaurant in the area. What you didn't come here for: - Water: There's no free water option (or at least if there was, I'd be suspect given Philly's reputation) - Restrooms: There is a single occupancy restroom in the rear but... - Accessibility: While it's wheelchair accessible, the path to the restroom gets tight since that hall is where they store their high chairs for kids as well. It could be workable but you'd need some help from someone to move things around for you. - Seating: There is limited seating up front but it's often enough. - Will it fill you up? Yes the serving sides are generous.

I ended up creating my own bowl. I selected the steak, rice, cucumbers, tomatoes and a hummus. At Naf Naf Grill, it's all about fresh ingredients, flavor and the ability to create your meal as you would like. I ran into one minor issue when I went in and there was no pita available for purchase that night. They actually gave me extra hummus which I thought was very nice! I didn't like the steak as much as I had expected. The steak was a little chewy and difficult to eat. However, the fresh vegetables and the hummus were very good and helped make up for the steak! Overall, the experience was good enough for a quick grab and go type of dinner. Since it was convenient and they were open at the time I arrived, I would give them another chance if in the area again. The employees were helpful! The ingredients seemed to be good quality and Naf Naf was one of the only places in the area at the time open at night, so that made the restaurant a pretty good bet for a quick bite after a long day of work. There are probably some adjustments I can make to my protein selection next time, or some new options I can look into trying from the menu before I go back. But based on this experience, I would likely visit again if I'm in the area!
