I usually get the falafel salad, tehina shake, and the shwarma spiced fries, but today since it was just a snack I just did the shake and fries. Yummy! One of my biggest complaints is that for the price point of $12 for a sandwich or $14 for the falafel salad, I would hope the falafels are tasty. I've ordered both and at times the falafels are so hard I have to throw them out because I can't bite them. It is a huge disappointment and I've given up on them. However, I LOVE the tehina shakes. This is just a stall in a food court and the falafel-centred menu admittedly doesn't offer a ton of variety, but I really like that you can choose from 4 different tehina sauces (which are described on a sign by the register) for the sandwich. I opted for a falafel sandwich with the amba sauce, and it was delicious. The falafels and pita were very fresh. The pita is fluffy, not the ultra-thin kind that a lot of pita wraps are made with. I was there with my family and tried a little bit of the mint chocolate cookie tehina shake that someone else ordered. Mint chocolate and tehina are not two things that I would've thought would go together, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked in this shake - I'm not even a big mint chocolate fan but this was delicious. The first store debuted in 2017 as right above CookNSolo's now-shuttered Rooster Soup Co. venture, and it was immediately met with wild popularity and long lines. While the original location is no longer open, the Goldie mini-empire now stretches from University City to Fishtown. Goldie is as subspecialized as its hummus-centric companion restaurant Dizengoff, offering a vegan menu of falafel wraps/salads, tehina shakes, and fries. The West Philly location was honored as one of the inaugural vendors within Franklin's Table, itself a spacious, industrial-chic food court. The room sports polished cemented floors, high ceilings with exposed HVAC, and accent lighting above the parallel rows of wooden picnic tables. Goldie is on the right side of the space, the closest vendor to the entrance. Crisscrossed lighting fixtures with incandescent bulbs cast a warm glow. I love this place! I've been multiple times as I work close to University City and I've never been letdown. It's located in Franklin's Table, so its not the best for seating, but I can easily walk back to my office. Things I've had: the traditional falafel pita with traditional tahini sauce: delicious. A great balance of sauce, falafel, and salad. I've also had the tahin milkshake which on paper I should hate but in actuality is really quite creamy and delicious. This last time I went I had the sour cherry tea: THIS is a gem. Perfectly tart, just the tiniest bit of sweetness: I would order this again and again. Coming from NYC, I have high expectations for falafel. The very first Middle Eastern restaurant in the U.S. is in the West Village and you can get great falafel from food trucks back home. Do not expect to get your order placed quickly on a weekday lunch hour! I've come in multiple times and the line is at least 15-20 people long, with the workers moving quickly. I was lucky to slip in on a rainy day so the cafeteria was pretty much empty, and I got my tehina mint chocolate chip shake within minutes. While the initial taste was odd, as I kept trying it, it really grew on me! The texture was great and there was so much chocolate in there it blew my mind. A great spot in U City right on Penn's campus! If you go around 12/1pm while school is in session, be prepared to wait at least 15-20 minutes to order. My go-to is the falafel salad, just as it comes. The falafel is fresh and still warm, and the toppings (especially the beets!) are the perfect match. It is just the right amount of food. 3 stars are for this: I ordered a mint chocolate tehina shake after being told there was no nut contents in it... I drank the shake and was bothered by it a bit. When I went back the next time to verify there was no nut contents, I found out they all have a nut milk base. The first counter attendant did not know this and said there was no nut contents in it at all... Just be aware. I heard so much about it and was like "how can a falafel place be that good? i bet it's overhyped". But i do not think it's overhyped. I never had juicier, softer, and more flavorful falafel. The falafel salad comes with a wide range of savory vegetables with a good amount of falafel on the side that you can put on your salad or eat on the side. The sauce is tangy with a bit of sweetness. I love the beet cubes that add a freshness to the salad also. The falafel sandwich is AMAZZING. the pita is very soft, and the falafel inside is flavorful. The creamy sauce I got in complemented the falafel and vegetables inside very well. It was also not dry in my opinion. The Tehina coffee shake is also great. It has a smooth and thick texture, yet has that blended taste of coffee in it without being too overpowering. It's not hard to swallow like some other smoothies I tried. I think the cookie toppings on top also add texture to the smoothie. One of my favorite places to eat for hearty and delicious food, highly recommend ! read more

The falafel salad was pretty darn good! (I just don't love beets, which I asked to be taken out but they weren't) The falafel balls themselves were awesome, light and fluffy. They were a brilliant green color on the inside. The dressing was very light and complemented the ingredients in the salad very well. It would have been awesome to dip the falafel balls into that dressing and eat it like that! My thoughts on the regular Tehina shake....it was OKAY.
