Stopped by here the other day after finding out tan-cha had closed. I have been meaning to check this location out since it opened but usually don't pass through this area so it hasn't happened until now. The store may be small but the layout seemed to be well thought out. The menu was displayed on both sides on the store and there was also a menu on the front counter where you order (should you need some last minute assistance). The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. It took under 10 minutes for my order to be completed, with only one party ahead of me. As for my drink, I ordered a brown sugar milk tea with boba. It is a bummer the sweetness cannot be adjusted for this drink (similar to a lot of other boba shops) but overall it isn't too sweet. This version also tastes more milk tea like even after shaking the drink; this isn't bad per se, just a bit different from other brown sugar milk teas I have had. Overall had a good experience here and will come back to try some of their other drinks. This is one of the better Gong Cha locations I've been to. read more

Wintermelon tea in Torrance... I had to do an errand in Torrance, so, when I finished, we were able to swing by this cute shop. Gong Cha has Instagram-worthy decor. The wall to the right is filled with roses while the wall to the left has a pair of angel wings and a mirror with Hello Kitty's face! If you angle your photo in a certain way, you can make the round, white light look like a halo above Hello Kitty's head! It was kind of late at night when we arrived, so there was a lot of free parking and no waiting time. I went right up to the cashier and entered my phone number into the Five Star Rewards system. Yay for customer loyalty programs! I didn't want to drink my Wintermelon tea right away, so I let the ice dilute the drink. Later on, when I tasted it, it was still sweet, so I added more water. The gal said that the sweetness level can't be adjusted, so, just add your own water! Anyway, it was a great experience and I would return if i was in the area again! read more

The ambiance is calm, and they took lots of pride making the place look artsy. They have a beautiful large flower wall that is great for pictures. They added many details to make the place look clean and stylish. Service is great and the workers are always helpful. They have two machines that you can order off of, and it is simple and straightforward. Their milk and fruit teas are solid and is nothing out of the ordinary. I will say, I love how you are able to add different flavors and customize a drink. I always add two fruits into a tea, for example lychee and passion fruit green tea, or mango and passion fruit tea. This is so unique, and not many other spots offer that same kind of service. Their boba pearls are oftentimes either really hard or chewy. Doesn't bother me too much, but just keep that in mind if that's not something you look for in your boba pearls. Many tea shops have popped up since I left South Bay area few years ago. I finally had the chance to try out Gong Cha couple Saturday afternoons ago. I got the wintermelon brewed tea with grass jelly and 50% sugar. My drink was overly sweet, I'd hate to wonder what 100% sweetness level would entail. Service was great and drinks came out at a reasonable pace given the high foot traffic of to-go orders. There's really no place to sit down and linger as their high metal chairs are uncomfortable. Couple of tables/chairs are located right outside, but when the sun is setting, the sunlight hits directly in the small outside seating area. Convenient location with easy parking. I have been going to this Gong Cha location for a number of years and it's always consistently good. The options to customize your drink's sweetness/ice are helpful, and they really follow your requests. Service is fast and helpful and they often have freebies and specific merch. The mustache teas are my favorite, because they're creamy without being overly sweet. Not many places to sit inside, just a few counter seats, so not a great place to work or meet up with someone. read more

i only come to this boba shop when i finish going to the revolving sushi across the way. it's always either a hit or miss. the inside is pleasing to the eye and picture worthy. they have two self checkout stations and the cashier. we ordered four drinks tonight, a strawberry one, winter melon milk tea, mango slushee, and a brown sugar drink. there were two baristas but they did take a while to make the drinks considering there was no one else in front of us or in back. the winter melon milk tea was pretty good i'd give it a solid 8/10. i got it with pudding and it was great! it's pretty small inside, a few bar seats but nice decor. all of our orders were correct and the cashiers were nice. i take a star off because the drinks aren't high quality there just pure sugar and there are some other great boba shops around the area. read more

This is an updated review on Gong Cha. For those who haven't been there it's a small venue with 2 counters with high benches. There is also a wall of flowers, and angel wings on the walls of the store if you want to take photos. They recently added a suggestion box if you want to leave feedback. They have a point system where you get a free $3.75-4? Drink after 50 points and if you can get some work done or sit with a friend given they have wifi. I like how you can adjust both the ice and sugar levels of the drinks and they have an assortment of toppings including milk foam. The drinks that I usually get are: Earl Grey Milk Tea: 30% sugar, milk foam, w/ or w/o boba depending on my mood Taro milk tea: 0% sugar, and with milk foam. This one is lightly sweetened even without sugar Lychee smoothie: no adjustments Yah so I'll probably go back sometime next week. read more

In my family, it's the sign of respect of bringing tea to your elders. (^-^) Gong cha is located in the same plaza as 99¢ Cents Only & Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, just south of Shin-Sen-Gumi 2GO, which means plenty of parking available. The boba shop has large windows so the interior is well-lit during the day. There's a patio set just off to the left of the entrance, a total of 8 bar stools on stood on both sides of the entrance, & bench seating adjacent to the faux roses backdrop. And on the opposite wall is a pair of wings, both are very IG-worthy for pics. I was welcomed upon entering & took a couple of minutes to mull over my drink of choice. After a brief inquiry with the cashier/barista, I requested the LEMON JUICE WITH WHITE PEARL & AI-YU with 70% sweetness & 25% ice, part of the Dream Top Ten. A quick check of my ID to confirm my birthday, he offered a "happy birthday" & took the next customers' order before going about our drinks. :-| Not exactly friendly, but he's efficient & fast. The drink looked interesting... the floating ai-yu jelly reminded me of jellyfish for some reason. The drink is exactly that -- lemon juice, not lemonade nor Arnold Palmer -- juice of lemons, with diced skin & seeds... to assure you that it's really lemon juice? Ummm... ever heard of a strainer? I'm ok with some skin, but didn't care for the seeds. I enjoyed the citrusy lemon, it wasn't overly sour with just the right amount of sweetness. The white pearls have good texture/chew; the ai-yu felt homemade, not canned, had the silkiness of fresh, sweet tofu (豆腐花), & a lemony taste complementing the lemon juice. My drink had just the right amount of toppings that was enjoyed from start to finish. It was a light & refreshing drink that my son enjoyed. =) I haven't tried their teas or boba, which is the essence of a boba shop. According to Gong cha's website, its teas are brewed daily & every 4 hours to ensure freshness & flavor. What about the boba? It should have the right amount of chewiness, not mushy or too hard, & the tapioca shouldn't clump together to clog the large straw. Since they don't retain their QQ (chewy, bouncy texture along the lines of al dente) texture well, once cooked, they can't sit for too long or they'll get mushy, & they can't be refrigerated because the ball hardens. So how fresh is each batch of boba? I love that they're environmentally conscious... in an effort to reduce waste, Gong cha allows & encourages customers to bring their own cups for the drinks, & you receive a 10¢ discount for using your own cup. How cool is that?!ヽ(^o^)ノ However, no loyalty program... by app or stamp card. Price points are on the higher side, Gong cha might want to reconsider a loyalty program to retain their valued customers. Recommended: Lemon Juice with White Pearl & Ai-Yu. read more

Didn't get a drink. The employee explained when I reached the front of the line that the couldn't take my order due to an overload of orders. He directed me to order online so I ended up leaving. It seems this has been a similar experience of others and probably could be avoided by making an announcement before I waited 10 minutes in line. Unsure if he took the orders of the people behind me or not. The drinks look really good though so I'll be back and hopefully I don't get turned away next time. read more

Another boba spot in Gardena! I'm glad to see Gong Cha open up in Gardena, giving the area yet another place to get your boba craving satisfied. Located right next to Shin Sen Gumi 2 Go, the interior of this spot is definitely for the gram. There's a flower wall on one side and on the other side, you can take a picture with the angel wings that everyone loves to do. If you're into the social media game, you'll enjoy this location. I got an order of the Wintermelon juice and the price includes boba which is nice. As with most boba places nowadays, you can customize the sugar and ice level in your drinks which is an added plus. So sad that I have to give this place a one star- but this is the second time this weekend I've came and the hours online on google and yelp have listed that they're open and once I arrived they were closed. It's such an inconvenience- and I wish they could atleast adjust their hour or not list it open. They don't even have a sign on their door about being temporarily closed, or sorry for the inconvenience, nor do they have their actual hours listed at their location. Today, as I sit in the parking lot I have seen eight different people and a couple families come to the door and have the same look of disapproval that I had. The only sign they had posted was a "now hiring" printed sheet of paper posted on their door and a non-lit "open" neon sign. I came on the last day of their grand opening promotion. After asking about the menu and few drink options.. I ordered few drinks to go.. and then I saw a flyer about grand opening promotions. The cashier did not even mention any of the BOGO drinks available nor when I asked about them after ordering he mentioned I can order another drink if I would like to receive the promotion. Off the bat, I was very dissatisfied with their customer's service. If it was the last day of the promotion, they should notify all customers about the options available! I even asked if I can change my order (after paying for the drinks), he shrugged and didn't really answer back and then continued to take the next person's orders. Ordered: Pearl Milk Tea Taro Milk Tea They tasted very normal, nothing quite special - they promote that their milk teas are made specially with tea leaves and great quality milk. My boba pearls were actually really hard and were not great. Indoors: there are 8 stools in the entrance that are available for seating - but mostly used by customers waiting for their drinks to be made. No other seating is available inside the shop. They have two INSTAGRAM attracting walls (one is floral and another wall has those painted angel wings). In order to take photos with these walls, there need to be no one in line to order. Very inconveniently located. I had to move twice to get out of the way of other customers trying to take pictures. Outdoors: There is ONE table with four chairs available to sit. Solid Boba. Gong Cha is located on Western and 182nd street, in the same plaza as Kula and drive thru ramen place. The interior is small and the menu is awkwardly placed above the bench where you wait for your drink. Most places the menu is displayed like behind the counter where they take orders but not here. I ordered the Pearl milk tea which was one of the top selling boba and tasted really good. The boba is chewy and not hard in the interior. Flavor is very good and overall recommend it. Would come back to try out more flavors. This place has nice flower wall for photos. They also have free wifi. read more

I really do love boba at Gong Cha. The boba is always sweet, drinks are good (recommend getting 70% sugar since their drinks are SUPER sweet) & lastly the wait is never too long. Knocking off 1 star due to the boba to tea ratio--I've ordered Gong Cha delivery 3x this past week and it seems like they only give half a scoop of boba as opposed to a normal scoop amount. Gosh I really want to give this place a better rating because service is great but their drink was below average IMO +located in same plaza as kula sushi and shinsen gumi 2 go. Plenty of parking available +the female employee that was at cashier was super nice. Meh I've been wanting to try Gong Cha for awhile now but there aren't any near where I live, but I was in the area so why not. I wanted a winter melon milk tea and asked if they were able to make it since it wasn't on the menu but they said no and recommended the winter melon fresh milk instead. It's basically the same without tea. Not my favorite winter melon drink. I got it with boba and it was average. Pretty pricey tho, $4.85 for a large. P.S. Ah - Gong Cha, another classic boba chain. This location is located in a good area, with plenty of Asian restaurants and grocery stores, so it was only natural that I'd stop by here after stocking up on grub for the week. Chill staff, but only ok drinks. I ordered green tea and it was incredibly watered down - no tea flavor at all. No biggie, maybe the tea didn't settle in the big batch yet. On a second run, I tried my go-to Wintermelon drink - the sweetness level was insane, even when I had adjusted it to 30%! I literally had to open the cup and add water to my drink to dilute it. Overall, love Gong Cha but maybe the skill/concoction varies from place to place? Will need to try another Gong Cha location to confirm this. Brb! read more

All employees wearing masks and gloves when prepping drinks. Plexiglass up and touch less transaction except for opening door and pulling straw out of straw bin. The milk tea was good. You can choose sweetness and amount of ice. The boba bubbles were good. Not as much brown sugar taste as I prefer but just chewy enough, not tough texture. Generally a positive experience. read more
